Just wanted to congratulate you guys on a great app.
I have a Galaxy Mega 6.3 i9205 which has a resolution of 1280x720 but unfortunately a default 240 dpi.
Most parts of various themes working correctly, its just a few items are not correctly aligned.
From experience, the 240 dpi causes problems with other launchers and changing to 320 dpi fixes those launchers but makes the rest of the interface far too big and breaks some of the menus.
I was wondering if there was a way to adjust some of the themes manually or anything else I could do?
Much appreciated.

Hi, it's hard to say as Themer is designed to look what phone it's on, in this case the Mega isn't fully supported. The advice we could give would to to maybe try changing the resolution as well, but we can't guarantee this will work and that you should try it at your own risk.

This is why I created a similar thread a few days ago. Themer does not play well with non-stock DPI. If widgets and other graphics could be placed relative to the display margins/center (instead of absolute pixels), they should render correctly regardless of DPI.

Zooper already does render things like this. Try out something like Simple Sea or Pro UI. I rebuild these themes so that the anchor points for objects are relative to the side of the screen they are on. IE Top Center, Top Left, Top Right, Center, Center Left, Center Right, Bottom Center, Bottom Left, Bottom Right.
The only things that you will likely have issue with are when Zooper adds spacing, so layers such as Regular Text thats curved, Series based layers, and Progress bars that have spacing splits. Also Regular and Rich Text, that is set to an anchor of left or right, but also has a text alignment of Center, will be off by a bit. These are all as you are saying based on absolute pixel. Everything else in Zooper is based off of DIP (device independent pixels, http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html#density-independence)
There is NO WAY to fix these issues without breaking every Zooper widget, be it stand alone or in Themer, that was produced before your suggested change.
We do not support non-stock DPI. So if you want to use non-stock then you are going to have to do a little leg work on your own to fix the themes on your device.

In my original thread, I mentioned the fact that graphic elements were still irregular when DPI was changed to stock. This persisted after multiple uninstalls/reinstalls, cache & dalvik wipes. But thanks for the feedback.

Themer for Xperia U
I have an Xperia U ST25i and i have trying to install themer on it....while i can install it. I cannot access the themes.
I know that you currently do not support Xperia U for this app.. but i just wanted to know if there is a work around to this by changing the Dpi of my screen and if so, could you point me in a direction where i can get further information. Thanks
This would be a great addition for those roms who change the default dpi. In my installation of slimkat most themes are simply unusable,

Full Xperia U support is on its way. You can try modifying the DPI and resolution, but we'd recommend just waiting a few more weeks, it will be worth the wait

I'm starting this out of my huge disappointment when first getting my Note. I have great eyesight, and never had any problem seeing anything on my previous 4" - 4.3" phones. But things were really cramped on some apps. I was expecting to gain quite a bit of screen 'real-estate' with this big bump is screen size...but this DIDN'T happen. With 90%+ of the apps I used, they just scaled up...providing nothing more on the screen, just the same cramped layout, but bigger. I loaded up over 100 apps side by side on my Atrix and my Note to see which apps actually use the larger screen size well. This is just my personal opionin, but using the same exact display [but making it bigger] is actually a downgrade for me. I get the same amount of info, but I have to move my hand around a much bigger space to interact with this same amount. Anyways, I want to get a list together of all the apps that, by default [or with provided settings] you can adjust to actually use this extra space.
So far I've only run across 1 app, but it works 100 times better on my Note than the Atrix.
Business Calendar: This has in-app settings where you can adjust how much info to display, the font size of everything imaginable, and everything is customize-able in the widgets as well. This app works so well on the Note, I can literally go into 'month' view, and it will display all my events [with all their info], something I haven't been able to accomplish with any other app on any other device.
Go Launcher EX: Allows you to change grid size of home screen and app drawer, and change icon size easily [8x6 while shrinking icons slightly works nicely]
TweetCaster: In app adjustments of font size allow for more info displayed on screen.
Mobo Player: Floating Window feature works great on large screen. You can leave your video playing in corner [in floating, movable window] and use your device as usual, sending texts, email, etc. while your video plays in a separate window.
Would be great to get feedback from anyone else's experience so far, and what apps can be customized on the Note well. **This is my first week with the Note, so I'm really hoping there are a bunch more besides just the 1 I've found so far.

You are referring the the ROM 'Paranoid Android', correct? I will definitely be messing with my DPI settings personally to tweak my Note until I'm happy with it for sure. I'm also looking to get a list together of apps with built in settings that work well with larger screens. It would be nice to have a list, to be able to recommend alternatives to people when they ask, who will never be flashing new ROM's, or doing any adjustments from stock.
I was going to mess with my dpi manually, but I will definitely give Paranoid Android a look, thanks for the tip.

I'm retarded...sat down to do this and realized my camera's are on my phones. I will have to dust off my actual camera later on if I can find it.
Basically I'm just saying a lot of apps will display exactly the same thing regardless of physical dimensions of screen. So if an app has a vertical list of 26 buttons to scroll through, and the smaller screen device shows 5 at a time, and you have to scroll through the rest. It would be nice if with the Note you would now see 6 buttons at a time, with the buttons remaining the same physical dimensions. But the Note will still show the same 5 buttons, just enlarged to fit the larger size...so you don't gain anything. [I'm probably not explaining myself very well, but it sounds like the previous suggestions of changing my dpi will solve this.
Go Launcher let me make my icons [with less pixels] so now they are the same physical dimensions they were on my Atrix [same readability] but now I have 8 rows, and 6 columns instead of 6 rows by 5 columns [Giving me 18 more icons, the same size as Atrix]
Make sense?
I believe that its because the apps arent written to scale up. Kinda like how tablet apps are written to fit tablet screens vs phone screens. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Yes, that is the reason. That's why I'm putting together a list of apps that are coded for better use on larger screens [but still the phone version of their app and not tablet] or have options in their settings to scale objects / fonts / etc. within their app.

Does CM9 have DSP Manager as part of the system? I had it on my Atrix, I believe as part of CM7. The sound is not nearly loud enough right now, I think that was the case with my Atrix also before I discovered the DSP Manager [Totally changed how I could use my device, as the sound was enough to fill a whole room even with background noise after I switched to CM7]
Im running Themer on my Moto X (stock) and sometimes it takes several attempts for a touch to register to open a given module. (Favorites, camers, etc.)
Sometimes it works ok, but sometimes the screen seems unresponsive to touch. I had it show touches in dev options but even 'direct hits' don't register and open whatever the icon is supposed to open. This seems to occur across themes. I do have widgets locked.
Am I missing something here or is this normal?

Hi,
Try uninstalling Themer - delete the /sdcard/MyColorScreen/ folder (removing the Exported folder within it if you saved any themes) - then reinstall Themer.
Let us know if that helps!
I have the same problem, both before and after doing what is suggested above. The pretty themes with really small or really close selections are the worst at it.
Thank you for responding, I'll give that a try. Though it is possible that with some themes with small target zones may contribute to the issue.
Thank you!

Thanks for the heads up, will speak to the developers and see what they can do.
I experience the same problem on my Note II running PA.
Is there an official place to request features
Same thing, doesn't seem dependent on theme (happens across all themes I've tried), T-Mo Galaxy Note 3 running stock 4.4.2 (unrooted)
It's hit & miss, sometimes everything works, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 presses before it registers. Seems to be memory related because it generally only happens when returning to the home screen after leaving another app that uses a significant portion of RAM, though I do not have actual evidence of this.

On my device it appears to be related to adding the dock feature or persistent search box. Adding either appears to cause the problem and then removing them causes the problem to be alleviated. I ran up my RAM usage to near 90% without any problems (without the dock or search).
Another bug I would love to see fixed is Themer retaining the dock and search features when applying a new theme. It is annoying having to reconfigure the options and add everything back to the dock each time.
Edit:
I'm going to add my feature requests/changes here since I can't find a specific thread for it.
App drawer:
Horizontal or vertical scroll options perhaps with a paginated option for both
Allow Themer icon to be swapped for the play store icon
Allow for the removal of the tabs at the top entirely
Launcher screens:
Allow custom smart categories and/or folders to be used by widgets (maybe the news icon could open a folder or category I've created to show all my news apps instead of launching the themer news app only)
Allow reordering of home screens (perhaps even allow adding multiple themes at one time next to each other)
Retain custom added home screen folders and icons when changing themes
Give end user access to icons used by the theme so when customizing an icon I can use one built into my theme (I like the dialer in my dock but I would love to use my theme's dialer icon instead of the default android one)
As mentioned above:
Retain dock and persistent search options between themes but also allow themes to better resize when those options are selected (some themes get cut off slightly or the aspect ratio gets out of whack)
Hopefully that doesn't sound too demanding. I'm just trying to help make an awesome concept better

Agreed (Bold), I would like the notification bar auto-hide to stay selected when I change themes. However, because each theme requires a different configuration to work/look properly, this might not be ideal.
For me, the problem only happens when the launcher is trying to "catch up". This indicates a memory issue IMO. Anytime the launcher is fully loaded and I'm on the main home screen(s), I do not experience any issues registering touch.
Perhaps that is the problem then. I don't use Themer as a daily driver just yet because there are a few thing I need sorted out first. The touch issue in this thread being one of them. Folder/custom smart categories, mentioned in my edit above, are another.
This also happens when I use the gesture system(Swiping up/down). Personally this is the least fluid launcher I have ever used, sad seeing that its my favorite.
I know themer is still beta but this problem has been happening for a long time now.
On the gestures, I agree there is definitely an issue.
When attempting to do the "two fingers down" or "two fingers up", it generally triggers the "pinch in" gesture. This is the only launcher I have experienced this problem with. It's not make-or-break as I know it's beta, but accurate gestures are very important to me with the way I use my phone.
I expect these will get fine tuned before they transition out of beta
I'll have to rescind my former statement(s). I did more testing
There are definitely issues with touch not registering on some themes. As I tried more and more themes, I started to see it more and more. And it's bad. 2-3 times minimum to get the touches to register, especially on the Tron looking theme (I forget it's name). There are many more themes with this issue as well, and it appears over time the more cache/data stored in the MyColorScreen folder, the less responsive the launcher becomes. It got to the point of being unusable until I uninstalled, deleted the folder and reinstalled.
This, coupled with the intense RAM usage and pretty aggressive battery drain (10-12% daily, minimum) and I have to hold off on using Themer for now.
I'm not against sacrificing one or two minor things, but to sacrifice device response + RAM + Battery is too much just to use Themer. I will wait and watch and as improvements are made I will reinstall and retry.

Hi,
Could you possibly provide us with some more details? What device/Android version/ROM are you using?
Also, which themes are doing this?
T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3, running stock 4.4.2, unrooted. For Theme specifics, I will have to reinstall and test for a few days. I will get back to you.
Hello. This is probably a first, but i want to ask if anyone knows how i could resize everything on my phone, so that its a bit smaller? Lets say the statusbar is a bit thinner, then the icons on the bottom of the screen are smaller. I've seen my friend do it once, it creates the illusion of a bigger display screen, i don't know how he did it though. So far i'm using [THIS] rom.
Is this possible on the xperia go?
Basically if it were a windows computer, to do this you'd change the resolution to a bigger one, as on lets say 800x600 the icons would be big, everything would be big, and if you change it to 1280x720 it would all shrink a bit.
Add this line to /system/build.prop (a few ROMs already have it, likely set to 240, in which case obviously just change the number):
ro.sf.lcd_density=200
200/210 is the setting I'm most comfortable with (sufficiently small but keyboard still usable).
Keep in mind that a few apps like Sony's launcher don't work well with DPI changes...

Hi folks,
I'm a Themer noob, but a even with searching around I haven't found the solution. Basically, I installed Themer on my Slimkat ROMed T-Mo Samsung Galaxy S4 (M919 model), and went theme shopping. Found lots of nice ones but they all look tiny on my screen. Fonts and icons are much smaller than shown while browsing themes. For example, here's a theme I thought looked pretty. I'm attaching two pictures, one as shown in the theme browser and the other (with the tiny text and a tiny angry birds icon) the way it actually displays.
How do I change the sizes of the things, basically zooming the elements by a factor of 2-3X?
I have tried the icon size dp setting, but changing it doesn't seem to do much of anything at all.
Thanks in advance for help in adjusting the scaling!

Hi Marc,
We apologize about this, but you say you're running Slimkat. For some reason Slimkat has also been giving other users in this section similar issues. However one possible cause for this could be your display/DPI/resolution settings. Make sure that all your settings are set to your device's default setup, as Slimkat may have changed a few of them.
If this isn't the case please let us know, thanks!

Thanks Marco. I'll poke around today and see if I can figure out how to change the DPI stuff. I've never needed to in my past Android experience and will need to figure out how to do it. I haven't yet seen an obvious setting for it, so maybe it's a build.prop mod?
I will report back after investigating!
Marc
I researched and found the actual pixel density of the S4 screen is 441. Using Device Control's build-prop settings, I found mine with SlimKat was set to 370. I adjusted it to 441 and a lot of things look more normal now in the regular launcher. The status bar at the top is now normal size and fonts are generally more legible.
However, in Themer, things still seem a bit small. I re-applied the theme, and things got a bit bigger, but still smaller than I'd like. I'll continue to poke around...

Whenever you have an issue with Themer, try this:
1. Uninstall Themer.
2. Delete the /sdcard/MyColorScreen/ folder (remove the Exported folder if you saved any themes).
3. Reinstall Themer.
Let me know how it goes!
Using the Samsung Messages app on my Verizon S9+, I am unable to permanently change the font size in the actual conversation screen. Yes, you can pinch to shrink and expand font size but that gets reset to standard size every time (unlike on the S7 Edge where it remembered your size preference).
Through Settings, you can globally adjust font size but the only Messages screen this affects is the main Conversation screen which shows all conversations. Once you click on a conversation, normal font size is presented. Frustrating for my old eyes...
UPDATE: Ironically, when you adjust Font Size in Settings, if you swipe the sample screen above the sliders, it shows you a sample Messages screen and the font size does change in the sample, but it does NOT change in the actual Messages app. Sounds like a bug to me as they are depicting what I want to do, just doesn't work.
I'd like to use the stock app as it has some features that are unique. There must be a way to change the font size so the setting is persistent, no?
Seeing the same also. Hard for my aging eyes to see.
And also finding it doesn't follow the global setting for size. Same as you.
Same issue. I don't think you can change the font size just for the Message app.
I when back to my beloved and trusted Textra SMS app.
It changes when you change the font size in display settings font.

As I mentioned in my post, this is not true. On my phone, changing the font size in display setting ONLY affects font size in the main Conversations view. Once you click on an actual conversation, the font size returns to the default tiny size.
You can get a newer version on apkmirror.com but it wont allow updating samsung apps for some reson. Anyone have the latest version of messages signed by samsung that will install?
They need ro bring back the S8 messaging app which has this inbuilt feature to adjust text. Wonder, why they ripped off that useful feature.

It's really not that hard to pinch zoom. Takes a half second. Sure, it'd be nice if it would stick but, c'mon man.
I had a problem with the Background colors in the Messaging ap - some of the themes I like to use are really awesome but when I get to the messaging ap, they used yellow fonts on a white background - nearly impossible to read. I either have to use a different messaging ap entirely (Mood is a pretty good one I found that has TONS of customization options) or just guess at what was written - or change themes.
It's dissapointing that I can't change the balloons or fonts in the messaging ap any more - would be nice if we could - and change font size too - so for now, I am using the MOOD messaging ap and while I prefer the Samsung Stock one better - Mood isn't bad at all.
Its not only internal Messages app, Viber and Hangouts has really small font in input line. Tried increasing font size, tried toying with DPI settings. No idea why its like that and only affecting text input lines, but hope some later update could fix that?
Hi Everyone..I just got the 9 plus and the messaging app is different than it used to be. It is just blue bubbles with white background. It wont let me change anything like before and the setting the background wallpaper for messages is no longer there....is that how everyone else's is?
I also switched to Textra for the all of the customization that it offers. It's a free download so I gave it a try and I've stuck with it since. Just my 2ยข

It's really not that hard to pinch zoom. Takes a half second. Sure, it'd be nice if it would stick but, c'mon man.

No, not "come on man". It should work as designed, and has worked since GSI-II.
I use Chomp. Let's you change all of the fonts and sizes, including the message notification pop-up.

I think you mean, "It should work the way I want it to work." It IS working as designed. It's just that you don't like the new design.
That's not to say that I don't agree that it would be better if we could choose a persistent font size. I do.
But we're talking about a split-second pinch out to increase the size.
A split-second.
So, yeah... C'mon.

Thousands of people having to take a split-second to adjust for a design bug every single time? No. You're missing the point.
