[Q] Difference between XL39H and C6802? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hi,
I recently bought a Z Ultra off ebay and when I received it realised that it was the XL39H Chinese version. It doesn't have gapps and most features only work in Chinese.
I'm wondering whether I can just flash another country's C6802 firmware onto it, or is this not possible due to the different model numbers? Are there any hardware differences between XL39H and C6802?
Someone said on another post that XL39H is just a sticker on the box and the phone itself still says C6802, but in my case it says XL39H in About Phone and on the device itself...
Thanks for your help!!

at the moment I would say you are good to flash either c6802 or c6833 firmware to the phone. Flashinf c6833 wont harm the phone but it will call itself c6833 and will have a LTE option (that will do nothing)
What version of the firmware is it on? if it is on .290 then follow my downgrade guide to get it to .532 if you want to root it. Then follow LordManhatton's guide for rooting, backing up the TA and unlocking the bootloader. Then get ready to flash away (fully charged of cause)

Thank you! I flashed a Hong Kong C6802 rom and it worked.

Hi, I flashed a native XL39H (chinese version) with a C6833 latest version using Emma (it asked me to choose the phone model and I put C6833), and I have noted that the sim card does not register when switching on, and the IMEI is disappeared in settings (unknown when doing *#06#)... what to do in order to recover sim functionality ? The IMEI appears if I connect to Emma and now it is like a C6833 but I don't know really what to do for resolve the problem. Let me know your help. I don't see now the popup to choose the phone model so in Emma only the C6833 firmware is shown. I would like the phone working as usual....even without 4G...

xl39h is c6802
try these ...might lead you in the right direction (maybe flashtool instead of Emma? I had to since I have a C6806)
EDIT
the links are old for the C6802 roms and do not work any more...but somehow maybe you will need to find this

Thanks for the great information. i did follow and successfully flashed it with C6833_14.6.A.1.236_SA.ftf. my problem is the customer, who wants it "calling and texting like it previously was, when on the old chineese rom"! i am in shirt because I've no clue on how to bring back the baseband.

[Q] Is SGP621 Lollipop 23.1.A.0.690 NOBA FTF for 4G?

I´m new into flashing a tablet with LTE/4G, so if this question is stupid excuse me.
I flashed with success a xperia z2 fone via flashtool to lollipop 5.02 (generic baltic) but there´s all the way 4G included.
But the z3 tablet has different versions with/without 4G/LTE and I don´t want to do something wrong.
Therefore my question, is the above file the file I have to use for flashing the 4G tablet?
Thanks in advance

Hi, open the dialer and type *#*#7378423#*#* now you are in the service menu. Choose service info -> model info and there you see the model number. If it is SGP621 the mentioned ftf is the right one to flash.

Another noob question belonging to that.
Is it possible to clone the complete content of my Z2 phone (all apps incl. SD Card content, all settings, Mails/Contacts etc.) to the Z3 tablet?
Both LTE from the same provider, identical SD Cards, same Playstore Account.
After flashing even the Z3 with the same 5.02 Nordic ftf.
Would save me a lot of configuration and setup work.

Flashing FTF from SGP521 to SGP561?

Hi guys,
I have been reading forum couple days and still don't have clear understanding of situation with firmware for Z2 tablet.
I have Z2 SGP561 (locked to Verizon) and stuck with 4.4.2 (no root) and want to upgrade it to 5.1 or 6.0.1 + root
There is very good article that describes how to flash ANY firmware build for ANY Sony Xperia device
http://www.xperiablog.net/2016/03/12/install-xperia-marshmallow-using-flashtool-and-xperifirm-guide/
But it doesn't describe what will happen with device if I flash firmware from another model.
Can anyone explain - will I brick my SGP561 if I flash it using FTF for SGP521 (Network: GLOBAL-LTE, Version: 23.5.A.1.291 / R3D)
for example from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2-tablet/general/ftf-vmo-ru-ua-kz-t3433098/
What will be result? Device will loose radio module? or loose some radio bands?
or FTF doesn't touch radio and I will latest available android with no issues?
Thanks.
It should not flash as your SGP561 is a Verizon only Model. I have the SGP521 that is the unlocked world model. Verizon likes to lock down devices and I don't know if that model has the bands for other phone carriers. (The firmware for the SGP521 is going to change the band menu to look for this) you may no longer get a signal and the 521 has phone calling support that I know Verizon blocks. I would search the forums to see if a update for Verizon is around as it is never a good idea to try and mix device firmware.

which firmware to use for Z5 Compact E5803 with fingerprint that works on AT&T?

I've got a Z5 Compact (E5803). My AT&T SIM works perfectly fine with it. I tried the E5823 Customized UK firmware (1298-5497 - 32.2.A.0.305_R13C) and the fingerprint works but the AT&T SIM does not. If the phone is on and I insert or eject the SIM it registers and reboots the phone. But otherwise it does not see the SIM. It keeps saying insert SIM.
I could try firmware after firmware but I thought it might be faster to ask here. I just want to use it with my AT&T SIM and have fingerprint working.
Maybe one of the other E5803 firmwares? I'm gonna trying Customized GEL until I hear from others..

why would you use a firmware that is for E5823 and put it on E5803?

For fingerprint? I had asked on another post and someone said I could since the hardware for the two is the same. I'm using the Australian firmware for the E5823 and it seems to be working...

Yes, due to legal issues Sony intentionally disabled the fingerprint scanner in the USA firmware version. The fingerprint scanner is physically there though so if you flash another FW it may work. However I am currently having difficulty getting my SIM card to be recognized when I flash to the newest UK version of the E8523

I am getting a E5803, and I live in Australia. Can I easily use Xperifirm and flash the Customized AU on the E5803? I really want the AU baseband/modem.

I also have a US version of the phone (E5803) and also wanted to enable the fingerprint scanner. When I loaded the latest UK version (which is E5823), my SIM (Canadian) was not detected. Bluetooth would also continuously toggle off and on. I'd never tried loading firmware from the other model before, so I just assumed E5803 and E5823 couldn't be mixed. If the AU version works for you, I guess the limitation isn't necessarily the phone model.
Previously I was running Android 6 from the Customized SG (Singapore), and now Android 7 from Customized MY (Malaysia), and both seem to work fine.
The AU version ended up working for me and I haven't looked back since
my e5803 fingerprint scanner works perfect on 7
I have a similar question: just got a Z5c E8523 but using it in the US with AT&T - which firmware should I be using? Customized UK, Customized AUS? Do I still need to flash the MODEM and BASEBAND portions from a US firmware?
Thanks!
If your model number is E5823, the fingerprint sensor should work without any modification. If it is E5803, you'll have to compile or flash a E5823 with any firmware except US. In my personal experience, the AU firmware typically receives firmware updates the fastest.

Okay, so I can't get it to work. I spent all morning trying to get Flashtool to work.
I am trying to flash E5823_32.2.A.5.11_Australia_Generic on my E5803. Each time I get a ERROR - Can't read a byte value.
I initially tried the latest version of Flashtool 0.9.23.2. Then I tried 0.9.18.6 where bricked the device. I then tried 0.9.22.2. Still no luck. I had to re-flash the Customized US version that came with the phone (E5803_32.2.A.5.11_1298-3109).
Should I try flashing the Customized UK version first then try the AU version? Very annoying tbh
Wow, got there in the end (only took me half the day).
After the successful flash of E5803_32.2.A.5.11_1298-3109 after bricking the phone, I tried to flash Customized AU 32.3.A.0.376 / R2D . That one also bricked the phone due to the old version of Flashtool I was using (0.9.22.2). I then tried to flash E5823_32.2.A.5.11_Australia_Generic which now worked.
The main reason I wanted the AU version was for the Baseband... Turns out it was the same lol
you should be able to keep the same modem settings, and the phone should be able to switch configurations when it detects the appropriate bands... provided your carrier is operating at those frequencies.

Don't you have to do something like make the phone think it's a E5823 in build prop first?
Hi there, I recently bought an Z5C (E5803) that was on android 6.1 marshmallow and was Customized Movistar EC, wich is one of my country´s carrier, so 7.0 OTA is long long wait to come.
Long story sort, I used Xperifirm and got 32.3.A.0.376 Customized US for the E5803, flashed and the fingerprint sensor was gone. So I read a little and find out that in US there is no Fingerprint suport for del Z5C.
Then I flashed 32.3.A.0.376 Customized GEL for E5803 and bingo!! Fingerprint sensor worked again.
I don´t think you have to change the firmware for another model for the fingerprint sensor to work.
Hope this help.

O2 Z4 SGP771 stuck on 5.0.2 is it possible to put Nougat on it

I have a O2 Z4 SGP771 3G stuck on 5.0.2 is it possible to put Nougat on it? I don't mind invalidating the warranty. I don't want to put a custom rom on it. Just the standard genuine firmware.
Thanks,

I've run into the same problem. Moreover, I have found that when I type in my tablet's IMEI at http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/software/ the page responds with 'No information available'
Seems to be a problem at Sony.
Please, contact the Sony Mobile support so that they can fix it. The more requests they receive, the faster they will fix it
