I'm pretty sure flashing a stock ROM will fix this but as my download of the huge stock ROM failed after over an hour I thought I would ask.
So I have been running stock CM10.1 for a long time and thought I would update to kitkat, really want to try ART.
But any ROM I flash that is over 4.1.2 does not boot, tried twrp and clockwork. Done a complete format from recovery of all partitions, and waited over 5 mins for it to boot first time.
But when I flash CM10.1 phone works fine.... Really annoying me now.
Any ideas before I start downloading the epic Samsung files again?

Try this.
May be it will work
Flash kk compatible kernel first
Don't reboot the system
Boot into recovery
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Format system
Wipe data
Install required zips
Reboot

Humm..... Will try flashing a KK kernel first and see. Didn't think of that, normally there included with roms but it can't hurt thanks!

Bugger also just noticed I put this in S2 not S3! Sorry guys! Still going to try KK kernel first though.

Hi guys need help if posible, i was flashing new rom Litening_Rom_v2.8 but now nothing works and phone wont boot up im am still able to go into download mode but when i flash diferent version of rom i still get the same problem can anyone help please
Try a different rom, see if it boots up....then wipe everything n try flashing again
Flash stock rom using Odin.
Wait 3 4 minutes, takes time to first boot.
Still bootloops, remove sdcard.
flash any cfroot and right after go into cwm.
Format data, system, cache, sdcard.
Now flash stock gb using Odin.

Weird problem with my phone chaps, can you please help?
I can flash CM9 & CM10 with no issues. I can flash it via restore (CWM) or through a wipe.
I can flash CheckROM V4 Via ODIN with no issues, but I am unable to flash anything I download through the kitchen. I get a bootloop or it gets stuck at the Boot up Samsung logo.
Similarly, I am unable to flash any other ROM apart from CM9/CM10 via recovery. It gets stuck at the boot logo. I've wiped all the caches, and even tried to flash checkrom via Odin to see if this resolves the issues, but unfortunately not.
Is this a case of flashing an original Samsung ROM, then re-rooting and starting over?
I will be grateful if anyone can offer some assistance!
Are you doing a full wipe factory reset in recovery before flashing a ROM? you mentioned you wiped cache thats it

Maybe Megawipe or Superwipe script can help. You can try it if you haven't gone with flashing original firmware.

Start by following the instructions in full regarding a wipe first .
That does not work redownload the rom or try another rom .
jje
Suggest you try ARHD rom

Thanks mate
so I did a system wipe, then installed a stock ROM, then rooted and the installed Omega ROM and it seems to be working now.
THanks for your help all!
I'm facing a weird issue: when i try to flash via odin a stock rom my phone bootloops, but when i flash an aosp or a cm via recovery or restore a previous backup of them it works just fine. Nothing major, since now, but I wanted to go back to stock to get more battery. Then I'm asking: anyone has an idea about this problem, or faced and solved this before?
TIA
Did you wipe data before flashing?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
I always do.
The only reason I can think of that a stock rom via Odin bootloops is lack of data wipe. Perhaps your wipe needs to be more thorough, using megawipe or something
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
flashed wanamlite through cwm, booted fine, now trying with odin stock
Factory reset from stock recovery should sort it, but will wipe your phone including internal sd
I installed a zip through ClockworkMod I shouldn't of installed on my i9300 with CM10 and now it's stuck in the boot animation.
The zip I installed is a fix that supposedly added the option of selecting USB Mass Storage instead of MTP. Someone linked it from another thread and after installing it, I tried booting my phone but it got stuck, then I figured out that the zip was only for the Sony WT19i.
Here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1532624&d=1354526908
Any way to fix this? I really don't want to factory reset
Best bet as you have flashed something that dont belong on your phone is to full wipe and Reflash your rom. Try a dirty flash but I would full format system and data and reflash. Lucky you didnt brick it mate.

I did a dirty flash of the latest CM10 build and surpringly, everything is exactly as I left it! Thanks for the help
If you flash anything that goes into /system and the rom breaks, reflashing the rom is all that's needed. Basic partition layout understanding.

This is my first time trying to install this I have a Samsung galaxy s2 T989 And I'm pretty sure I've done it right. I factory wiped it, cleared the cache and the cleared the cache in advanced settings. It's been atlesst over 10min and its still on the blue circle just spinning around.
Can someone please help me?
When I installed cm10.2 for the first time mine done that. Best bet and worked for me is do a battery pull and reboot. If that don't push you past the spinning circle which I ran across you should reinstall the ROM again and it should boot up just fine. Hope this helps

You've bootlooped it. The T989 is a pain when flashing custom ROM's because the custom recovery's built in wipe doesn't quite work for it.
Keep this ZIP handy as you'll be needing to run it every single time you need to wipe data/cache and dalvik. Don't ever ever use any other means of wiping aside from this one until this issue is fixed. I've been doing this for a while and have flashed upwards of 20 ROM's on my T989 alone.
It's called Darkside Super Wipe.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477955
So, just put that ZIP on your SD card, along with your custom ROM and appropriate Gapps. Flash Darkside first (always) then flash ROM then Gapps. Then reboot and problem solved!!
Good luck!! :highfive:
So after putting that in my sd card. Install that and gapps and cm10.2?

Yup, install Darkside Super Wipe first, then install the ROM zip then Gapps. Then reboot!
Should I factory reset and clear caches first or no?

Nope, just run the Darkside Super Wipe and it'll erase all /system, /data and /cache partitions. And like the thread says, it won't wipe your SD card or EMMC.
Just make sure you don't leave the recovery without flashing the ROM and Gapps
Also, you should get in the habit of making backups. You can make them from CWM or TWRP's custom recovery.
Titanium backup is an application on the Google Play store that you should look into as well my friend.
T989 Tears
Very finicky phone for customs. On mine I can get no ROM to fully load other than the stock Koodo 4.04, and CM 10.0 I flashed the latest radio for JB, darkside super wipe, flash custom rom, flash gapps, wipe dalvik. The same process for every ROM i try... still no success, 10.2 stays at boot. Dirty Unicorns starts boot, goes through the "optimizing apps" stage gets to the "starting apps" and reboots, lather, rinse, repeat. I've tried a few others, AOKP and some others. Still only Koodo 4.04 and CM 10.0 will fully boot. Not even the stock T-mobile 4.03 will boot (came with phone). Going to give JMT a shot, it looks pretty
