Hi,
I just rooted my HTC Evo 3d GSM. I have downloaded many games such as Gameloft etc.But now I am going to install a custom rom for my device.Android 4.3....And so I have game progress saved in my games. I have heard that if you are backing up using Titanium Backup and restore into a custom rom do not install settings.I mean what does it mean???? Can somebody give me a full guide starting from backing up data and restoring them to a custom rom device! (with pictures only if you can)
Thank You

If you go to the play store and find Titanium Backup, there's a video on the description explaining how to use Titanium Backup, I hope it helps!

i need help with backing up apps on S2

hi all i want to make a question but im not sure if this is the right place to post . i am using the d4 rom but its not working good as i expected the camera stops , cant open some apps , wifi sometimes doesnt work and a lot of other things . i have some apps like asphalt 6 nba jam and i want to back up them without loosing the data which means without losing the levels that i had unlocked . so please someone tell me how to do that ! thanks all .
try titanium backup from play store.
This will save your apps and their data. When you just need a few apps to be restored the free version will do for you. If you have a lot of apps think about the pro / donate version which can do batch restore.
donny
titanium works for me but i don kno abt ur levels ,iam not a gammer
Titanium backup should take backup of your game data (it does for my games), although some games might save their data on the SD-card.
I had problems with my camera on D4 v8.0, but it was solved by updating to the latest Siyah Kernel 3.1.2.
BTW:
Are you using Siyah Kernel RC6?
In that case, do NOT do a factory reset, it might brick your phone!
If rooted, try DataSync from google Play (free)
Install Titanium Backup from the Play Store and run a Batch App + Data Back up. After your flash re-install TB, and restore with a Batch Restore.
Use titanium backup,if you want to know how heres the link

Best app for ROM backup/recovery

Hi
I got a cheap LG GT540 a wee while back and now I want to try and install a more recent version of Android (I currently have version 2.1 installed). I think I understand how to do this but the biggest concern I have is that my phone gets bricked and I have to reinstall. The tutorials I have encountered are mostly over a year old and I want to be certain that I can backup the whole image on my phone and recover it. I would be grateful if you could please confirm what the current best ROM Backup/recovery app to do this?
The best way if via Nandroid backups from your recovery.
(On CWM Recovery: Backup&Restore->Backup or Backup&Restore->Restore)
A Nandroid will give you a full image of everything, Titanium Backup will allow you to pick and choose what you do or don't restore. For both you need a rooted device.
Yeah, with Titanium Backup you can backup/restore the apps and settings you want. It´s very useful if you went to another ROM like MIUI or so.
I always use CWM recovery and Titanium Backup. Safe and sound
I just use a nandroid back up.
Titanium back up can extract bits from a nandroid backup as well.
in the play store u can even get apps backing up ur call lists and sms
Thanks everybody for replying.
I had problems trying to backup ROM, got impatient and finally managed to upgrade to CyanogenMod v6. It wasn't the strategy I had in mind but finally got there in the end!!
My Backup Pro is a good application!!
+1 for Titanium Backup
CWM is what I always use.
CWM is the best...
some app can't restored with titanium backup...
I usually just use the Nandroid backup inside CWM.
I am also using titanium backup (paid version), but I am told not to restore the system data of the previous ROM after updated to a new ROM, because the system data of the previous ROM will cause instability to the new ROM.
I am doing automated backups with Titanium (paid version), and I also make nandroid backup every now and then.
Can Anyone give me the .apk link of a backup/restory app? I looked for one in the play store..but they all are paid..I want to root..but dont have a credit card..please help

I'm also using the titanium backup, but you need the pro version to access some features. I'm satisfied with it.
So I must buy it? There is no free rooting and back up/restoring app? Is Titanium the best one?

2 evo 3d questions can anyone help?

he everyone I have 2 quick questions
1) is everyone have problems making 3d movies where the video jumps even if the phone is sitting still (kinda like its trying to focus or something) but 2d videos are fine
is there a fix or is my phone bad?
2) is there an app backup program that will make a complete backup?
ok here is an example i got theis game blood&glory (kool game) and i want to have a complete backup after the data downloads .. i tried titanium back up here is my steps
i installed blood and glory and downloaded the data
make a backup with titanium backup
and copied all the files into a folder named test on the sd card
reflashed my phone (so i can start over for test)
reinstalled titanium backup
selected restore .tibkp from the test folder
then it had to redownload the blood and glory info all over
kinda pointless does anyone know a way to do this?
Hi ddropski
1. what ROM do you use?
2. take a look at this thread which may explain why such action is a bit pointless: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767524
in titanium backup, if you wanted to add the downloaded data to the backu, go to settings/preferences, and select backup app external data. You also need to adjust max size of the external data - otherwise it may not include it to the backup.
Helped? Hit thanks.

[Q] restore only data after rom update

fast question
if u have read my other threads let me recall because i though i had fix my problem, but like an idiot i went into recovery without flashing cwm so i lost everything again.
So,
i have flash back stock honeycomb 3.2
when i try to restore a backup (that was made on 3.1), it goes down to 3.1 and crash when i try to update to 3.2 to then update to 4.0.4
so i decided to flash 4.0.4 (stock ICS from sammobile) and reinstall all my apps one by one
But,
i still have my backup, my ICS is now rooted and flashed with cwm
i want to know, if after installing all my apps, i go into recovery and try to do an advance restore of data only, will it work ?
am sorry to be a pain in the ass with all my questions, i couldnt find the anwser
I think the answers were there in your original thread but you are looking for an easier way to go. I am not sure there is one. Since the hard way requires restoring fully your honeycomb install you may as well try data restore from nandroid first, hopefully it works out well.
I'm not experienced in using nandroid backups for partial data restores, titanium is better suited for that. To me, nandroid is for full system restore.
So again, if all else fails the best option is to restore the honeycomb nandroid, make sure that the device is rooted, install titanium, run full backup, backup all files off of sd to your computer via usb (your nandroid, your photos, your titanium backups , etc) and then update back to the system you want. Once back to ICS you can install your apps, root, install titanium and restore data for the apps you need. Be careful with this, obviously there are compatibility issues between the two systems.

The only way to restore only your apps is like the post above, you had to install titanium backup like i said in the PM i sended you, and then backup all your apps with titanium backup, save everything to your PC via USB cable and then install another ROM... so... i know it's very annoying and very hard.... but my opinion is to restore your nandroid backup (full system restore) download Titanium backup from google play, backup your data, and in case you deleted your nandroid, make a new one!!
But there could be compatibility problems when you backup your data what causes errors...
It's a pain in the ass to do it, but it's the only way i guess...
Bah, i dont feel like flashing again, ill start over my nfs hot pursuit, reckless getaway and jewel maze. i wasnt playing much with the other games installed
I remember that i did a nandroid backup cause i found it was more user friendly to create a full backup at the time i did it than with titanium.
Thanks for your help
Yah lessons learned. We've all learned them too . . nandroid is great for jumping between systems or for reverting to a clean one but it's not so great for restoring apps/data to or from differing systems; for that it's usually best to install apps clean and restore data via titanium.
I make it a habit now of doing both and saving both to an external device (either a usb flash drive or to my PC) prior to moving systems.

[Q] Restoring apps and data

Hi
I'm new to rooting and custom roms, so far I've rooted my s3 (i9305) and added a custom recovery. I'm currently looking for a custom rom to update the stock version I'm currently running (4.1.2). I have titanium backup installed and everything is backed up, however many of the posts I've read suggest not to restore apps + data from titanium backup. Can anyone explain why, is it just titanium backup that causes problems? What about using other backup apps like helium? Can I restore just the apps using titanium backup, or should I download from the play store instead?
For me the most important stuff is contacts and calendars (which are in my google account), so that's easy as I just re-add my account. My call logs and SMS are backup to my google account using SMS backup, so I assume it's ok to restore this data as well, I'd also like to be able to restore my firefox data.
Any advice would be appreciated to a noob, I know how to do it, just want to know what the potential risks are of restoring apps and data.
Thanks
Dave
Try app backup and restore if you have a lot of apps it could potentially take up quite a bit of space but you could always backup to cloud ,or external hard drive, or flash drive

It is normally okay for u to restore apps. But not recommended if u are coming from touchwiz to aosp roms. The frameworks are different and u may experience force closes. U can try to see if u have force closes.
