I have a Verizon S4 rooted and with Safetrap installed. I formatted a couple slots within SS so I could test out a rom or 2. I think, from reading, that I cannot use any ASOP version roms. Correct me if I'm wrong
I checked both development forums before I wrote so if I missed any thing please let me know.
Plus after you create a slot within in SS do you have to do any thing to the partitions or any thing else so you can run a rom?
Thanks for any help

Yes you are right. I didn't realise at the time AT&T have their own forum and with it been posted in the N7100 forum I shared on here. Ive been flashing some of their roms over the past few days and currently trying Jedi and seems to be working great apart from slight battery drain which of course would be put right with a kernal from our section.

Yes the battery drain is a huge hit to the face imo so i always advise people to flash a proper kernel. Yes the i317 and the n7105 are very very similar and they will work for each other...but always beware of that cause it can lead to a bricked device on rare occasion if the proper steps are not taken

Ok, a simple search or reading a few of the top posts would have answered your question. There is no recovery as of yet for MJ3. You cannot get anything besides root right now.

Ok, if you don't believe me, that's fine. Go look everywhere else on XDA. Go look everywhere on the internet. There is no recovery. 4.3 is completely locked down. GooManager is probably trying to give you a Loki'd TWRP because it thinks you're on MDK, which is the only baseband that actually supports TWRP.
Yeah dude no custom recovery for mj7. Hashcode is trying to get safestrap working with the update. At least then you guys can have stock based TW roms.

It won't matter. People won't bother to read and will try to flash CM on their phones regardless of whether or not it works. SInce it says in the Sprint forum that doing "x" will work, it must work on all of the Galaxy S4 models, right? It's unfortunately very confusing when the different models of the GS4 have different firmware and very different updating policies.
Most of the people who have done this have no idea what "MJ7" means, so I''m afraid that a sticky won't help.it would have to appear as the first post in every forum for every variant of the GS4. And STILL people wouldn't read it.

Personally, I've never heard of what you're describing. The only way I know of with MK2 is to root using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758.
After that, your only option for roms is Safestrap. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441441. You will only be able to install TouchWiz 4.3 based roms. Make sure they're compatible with Safestrap before you install.
My advice would be to do a lot of research. This is a good place to start. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501.
Good luck

This is the Verizon forum, not at&t. However I believe mobile odin is only useful for restoring the phone to a factory state without a computer, not flashing roms, yet you must be rooted. I could be wrong though.

safestrap has been around for years for other phones and recently hashcode ported to the S4 last fall. I have used it since that time with zero issues and have been running several ROMs at a time to evaluate, with again no issues with safestrap. Not sure why you wouldn't "trust it".....as it gives all us non-MDK owners ability to run something else than just stock.

Exactly, I've been hammering away on Safestrap since my RAZR and it's really safe just like the name implies. Granted I could flash AOSP on the razr, but my guess is at some point kexec will come around for the S4 as well. Too many really smart people working on that project for it to fail in my opinion.
Anyways.... For now Safestrap is awesome, and happy to have it.

Stock recoveries will be allowed through the 4.4.2 bootloader check. Custom recoveries are not allowed because they pass through the aboot and if they are not 100% stock you are dropped into fastboot. Sorry man, this idea won't work.

Unfortunately the bootloader was locked down very tight by Verizon and the devs are working hard for a workaround but there is nothing in terms of aosp Roms for safe strap. If you want something with aosp styling, I'd recommend hyperdrive rls14. It has aosp theming and insane battery life.

If you're gonna try that, read the WHOLE forum, because installing APKs and Playstore doesn't work. There is a fix for it talked about in there, which works great.
I know we could probably go on forever here but I just want to say I've been running Negalite 4.4 (tw) and Sacs ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512983
On my girls sprint s4 and there both awesome. Someone should see about porting them over or whatever is needed for them to be on Verizon.
Both would make great additions to the SafeStrap list. I realize however though that doing things like this take a lot of time.... Just throwing it out there that's all

There are a couple AOSPish TW roms you can load in safestrap if you're on MJ7 or MK2. Foxhound Diamond Dogs posted by Gigilie is pretty nice, I'm using the Eclipse rom as my DD... found on Nitro's website. elementalxdesigns. I don't think the newest builds are posted here.
