Hello!
I want to know how to create a rom in 4.4.2 without aroma, I'm a beginner
Sorry for the English I'm French
Why on earth would you waste so much time doing so? Its not too difficult to cook up a rom, but requires alot of skill to fix bugs, add features and maintain it. Instead save your time and use the roms created by highly experienced and knowledgeable devs. If you're serious about getting in it all, i suggest you befriend a dev with free time to give you lessons. Good Luck
Agreed

I agree while it would be ok to make a rom it would be just too time consuming to fix bugs and maintain it i would just stick to other peoples but if you really want to just google it there are plenty of tutorials.

I don't find tutorials on Google.
I'll ask to temasek. I know how to create a simple rom but I don't know where is the aroma file (maybe I can change it...)

Hello there.
I am searching people to help me out beacause i want to make a team that is going to make a new ROM,
wich is going to be based on the stock verision of ICS by Sony
some may know me from my modded x10 ROM. wich was not a big succes
now i want to begin again for xperia S with some people to help
first things first we need a base for our rom
on what is it going to be based? stock is a big start it has most of the ROM already done.
then we will try to get a kernel or use other kernels by other people
if you are interested please reply!
also if you have any ideas tell it down bellow.
thank you very much for reading!
If interested seeing my ROM for x10
check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619299
not too good but well my first try

What's your target with this? Do you want to make a ROM just for the sake of it?

Is it anything specific you don't like about those ROMs, or are you doing this for education?
For now, I can help testing if the ROM is stable enough for usage (SMS, GSM and wifi).
I can help out with build prop tweaks and any icons or anything we need done. I am still learning the android programming side so I wouldn't be of much help there.
Miui is based heavily on Cyanogenmod, so we'd need to have major progress on that before making any move onto that. As for what would be interesting would be a heavily customisable 'build your own ROM'.
I'd envisage large file, but one that you can select the features of, from theme to audio ports, tweaks, keyboards and the like, and one that you can clean up easily after flashing.
Thoughts?

I thought MIUI V4 isn't based on CM
Gesendet von meinem LT26i
yes it is.
one tip: if you want to start a "team" you need to know what you want (not based on cm or stock or miui or.....) just chose 1 build and see what you want to do with it
An idea ,MIUI with sony UI

We will be making the rom like a major tweaked verision of the stock ics
with higher clock speeds on the kernel etc.

Then you should decide what are you going to do. Either you work with MIUI/stock and modify, theme and whatnot, or you work from source and build your own version of AOSP. The latter allows more, but also needs more knowledge.

yes i know MiUi is based on CM
but look it has grown to well known ROM and thats what i'm trying to achieve
but now with MiUi or CM it is going to be based on SEMC with all the good of sony and all our tweaks
most of the people don't like the ics UI by sony we will desing a bettter looking ui
etc

I think we are going to work on stock it is the most stable
working from source is needing more knowledge and i'm not that good at that
so i gues its stock then?

Hi!
I only got 10 posts on this forum and I'm kinda new to coding stuff, but I got experience with rooting, flashing, and theming. Just so you know I'm not all noobish to Android.
Now to the point. I have a great idea for a launcher that I came up with (not sure if I should share it with you guys). I want to base it on the stock Jelly Bean launcher and it will have some UI mods/changes.
I DON'T have any experience with Java yet though.
It would be very kind if someone could give me a few tips or something to get me going. I followed a guide on developers.android.com where you built a simple app that shows a message when you write something and hit Send.
So please help me to get started with developing apps.
Many thanks

Thanks mate, thanks for taking your time.
More tips are welcome For example, can I mod the stock JB launcher and publish it without getting sued, and where can I get it to import it into Eclipse?

Yes you can mod the stock JB launcher and publish it without getting sued, that's the beauty of Android and it being opensource is you can take an application like the stock JB launcher and modify and change it to your hearts content.
Searching around a little more these video's might answer more of your questions:
How to make your own android launcher / program your own custom launcher
How To Retrieve The Source Code From A Compiled Android .Apk Or Application

Dont get me wrong but if you wanna make a rom you've got to add unique things to it
there is already some roms with the same changelog so what's the point ??

before using someone's modification would be nice to ask the author permission.
I understand that your firmware is LegendK95 deodex ROM + ICS_XD mod...
What is the sense in that? or those who need to do it all can not install these modifications? (given that they are set in one file)
Another custom JB,, can't wait to test !

Sorry for that. I want to make all in one rom and some mod by me.
seems to be a few users complaining that the initial releases are similar........so what!
if your not happy - make your own rom
what do you want them to do in the initial releases? turn your phone into a microwave?
Have a little patience ffs.

Am I the only one who finds Multiview annoying in the screen of the S2...? That is made for a big screen :/
Without that function, this Rom would be very good. Just a suggestion.
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
As an addition, developers have the right to hold exclusivity over their work for as long as it is deemed necessary by the dev or freely share it. However, if the work is claimed as exclusive, it must remain as such. No selective sharing will be allowed (ie allowing certain people to use it and not others). Should the dev decide to start sharing the work with others, the work automatically becomes fair game for all to use.
In regards to permissions, same rules remain for this but if permission was already given, unless there is a very valid reason, it cannot be revoked (same applies to major updates on the work). Under that same premise, permissions cannot be denied unless the work is exclusive or under severe circumstances.
In plain English: If you want to keep your work exclusive, go for it. However, if you are going to share your work, do it fairly.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA (including but not limited to ROMs, RUUs, apps, games, kernels, themes, icons, etc) unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.
XDA Rule number 12.

I just wanted to share it with you guys, Please give it a try and tell me your opinion, what to add/fix.

Hey there, I'm currently building a rom based on aosp and would like some help or being pointed in the right direction for including xposed modules in the build? I have attempted to look on Google and the forums and i believe I'm using the wrong terms or just missing it each time.
Thankyou in advance to anyone who can tell me what to search, or even point me in the right direction.
For some reason the forums say this is the wrong location to post a question, I'm not sure where else this is meant to go, so I apologise if breaking rules.
------------
Solved
Xposed cannot easily be included in ROM without issues, but you can easily edit the source to resemble the required xposed mods I.e navbar size etc.
/frameworks/base/core/res/res/
/frameworks/base/packages/system-ui/
You can include xposed but without activation the usual way of putting the apk in folder and adding to XML file with app list
Or similar
Thank you
