What format did you use? Dont use NFTS, but use FAT32. That one worked for me. Try a quick format (use a adapter or something else) and try again.

I used fat32 formatted it and still says blank sdcard or unsupported file

hi i've got same problem too with 16 GB and 64 GB
it's suck ...

Did you format in the phone???? Sometimes this makes a difference. Just back up your card to computer before reformatting in the phone.

yea, niether is mine, I was wondering if it had anything to do with the size, its a 32g? I had been planing on posting a question here soon to ask about it? I always have to use my phone as the only choice when looking in CWM?
I am having the same problem. My ext sd is not showing in cwm. My version is 5.5.0.4. The same thing when doing backups. Only internal.

Put it in a card reader

Man ..
I put the sdcard in reader and formated.
The partition manager shows that the sdcard is in ext3 but the android or windows not able to read the sdcard.
-------------------------- EDIT----------------
I could read the sdcard with the module ntfs.ko
but I can not longer access the sdcard on my computer.(via usb)
I can not write / modify the sdcard (android)
just read the files.

Downloading filesize more than 4 GB

Hi,
I have rooted my phone a week back and flashed Cyanogen Mod 10.1 with JB 4.2.2 which is running great on my device. I was looking forward to buy a new 32 gb sd card. The problem is that currently when I download a torrent file that is more than 4 GB, the ttorrent app shows an error notifying that the limit of Fat32 is 4 GB only. I know that but while formatting with ntfs, the device is not able to recognize the card. Is there any solution for it?
You can format your external SD card with ext4 which does not have this limitation and CyanogenMod already supports ext4 formatted SD cards.

Cyanogenmod supports ext4 but what about stock 4.1.2?
I saw same utils for ext4 on /system so it will work on stock?

It will not work on stock. Because, it automatically formats the SD card, if recognizes that it's formatted with anything other than FAT32.

thanx for responses
I did not know that I had to change from mtpo to usb mass storage for formatting. I did it in NTFS and voila the phone is recognizing it. May be the cyanogen developers have added support for ntfs too
Yup, it seems

Twrp and SD card

Why can't I back up to my sd card?? When I try Twrp says NO or just restarts recovery. Any suggestions??

What version are you running? I did the - x.x.x.3 and was able to backup to SD Card just fine yesterday. Although I used a temporary boot to preserve stock recovery to perform it although that shouldn't make a difference. I know some people have been talking about the format of the SD Card, apparently exFAT is no good but please look into that more before taking my word for it.

If your ext sd card is 64+ gig, it is likely formatted exfat which does not work with TWRP 2.7.x.x
In this case you'll need to remove the card and format in a PC with a third party utility that forces a fat32 format.

Formatting

Well it be safe to just format the internal sd from twrp and start fresh from there
