Sony Flashtool - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Im looking fir an older version of Sony Flashtool, older than 0.9.13.0 to work on a Mac or a Windows. For some reason the current one wont work for me. Anyone know of any links to an older version?

What's your OS? If Linux, I may help you to run 0.9.13.0.

I wouldn't go lower. There is a bug using previous versions of flashtool and the new .290 and .136 firmware.
You'll brick your device. Not just a recoverable brick... but a full on BRICK!

Yeah. Same here and recently figured out how to make it work under Linux. I'm not a mac guy, but probably the same method will work for you was well. Follow the instructions below :
- Install libusb (not libusbx!) from macports via :
$ port install libusb
- Then, find the "libusb-1.0.0.dylib" file that's installed by libusb.
- Copy this file under "/your/path/to/Flashtool/x10flasher_lib/mac/lib64/" (Assuming you have 64bit OSX. If not, then just replace the "lib64" with "lib32" instead.)
- Go into that particular directory : "cd /your/path/to/Flashtool/x10flasher_lib/mac/lib64/". Then, issue the following command as root :
# ln -s libusb-1.0.0.dylib libusbx-1.0.0.dylib
- Then, open the Flashtool wrapper script with your favorite console text editor as root and do the following :
- Find the following lines :
ln -sf libusbx-1.0.0.dylib ./x10flasher_lib/mac/lib64/libusbx-1.0.dylib
ln -sf libusbx-1.0.0.dylib ./x10flasher_lib/mac/lib32/libusbx-1.0.dylib
and comment them out via :
# ln -sf libusbx-1.0.0.dylib ./x10flasher_lib/mac/lib64/libusbx-1.0.dylib
# ln -sf libusbx-1.0.0.dylib ./x10flasher_lib/mac/lib32/libusbx-1.0.dylib
- Save and exit.
Now, your flashtool should be working. If not, try to run /your/path/to/Flashtool/Flashtool" as root/admin.
Hopefully, it will work for you.
Cheers,
Tarkan

Bin4ry for some reason i don't know why i can't use ADB connection with specific phone (probably reason it's a prototype phone) maybe it want different driver. for my other x10 mini RTL i haven't any issue with ADB.
it need a driver called SEMC HSUSB Device (from device manager - Windows)
http: //img219.imageshack.us/img219/557/10102010131939.jpg
I find another way to pull files from this prototype x10 mini with ftp app
If you know how can i solve with issue please tell me!
In the Menu where USB-Debug is located, there should be an option with PC-Companion. If you check this the phone will ask if you want to install PC-Companion if a usb-cable is connected.
If you choose Install on phone, then in Windows a new Drive will popup, the driver should be located there.

Please tell how can i do this!
@Bin4ry, isn't root required to install io_ex2.ko? Is it not required to dump the boot loader?
Is it worth trying Exploid to gain root? Although I believe we think it won't work. It's got to be worth a try
yes first you need to root the x10 minni
but i think that i is already rooted
then extract this zip to sdcard
forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=407185&d=1285348031
open an terminal emulator app and give in
Code:
su
cd /sdcard
insmod io_ex2.ko
cat /proc/splimage > /sdcard/spldump.bin
then you upload the file spldump.bin
(it is on sdcard)
Nice one wolfilein.
@Lef.teris, when you manage to get the drivers sorted of the adb, please try the following: http://android.doshaska.net/x10miniroot
Edit: although I doubt this will work - try using the drivers from here!

Another thought - could you right click on one of the devices in screenshot you uploaded (this one) and select properties, then click the details tab. Next in the drop down box select Hardware Ids.
Could you post the text thats in there? Hopefully we'll be able to find a driver

Java on webtop confirmed!

This guide was taken and revamped with files included from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067662
I do not take any credit for anything besides revamping the codes to fit new filenames and making the guide a bit easier.
I finally managed to get java to work with firefox. I test out runescape and it works great on minimum graphics setting may be able set higher.
This is a guide to run Java on webtop on any firmware version and more than likely (but untested) any hdmi hacks/mods.
Prerequisites: Rooted phone and minor knowledge of how to run terminals
webtop2sd (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119555) installed would be a major help simply because lxterminal is so much easier to use!
If you refuse to use webtop2sd, terminal emulator on the market will work just fine.
Download this http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PF56FTWD
Extract the ejre1.6.0_27 folder and move to phone
Copy the ejre1.6.0_27 folder to
/usr/lib/
Ingore this code if you are running from lxterminal
Code:
su
/usr/bin/sudo -u adas bash
Click to collapse
In lxterminal or whatever terminal
Code:
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/ejre1.6.0_27/lib/arm/libnpjp2.so /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins/libnpjp2.so
sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/ejre1.6.0_27/bin/java
sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/ejre1.6.0_27/bin/java_vm
sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/ejre1.6.0_27/bin/javaws
sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/ejre1.6.0_27/bin/keytool
Click to collapse
If you get "link failed File exists" run this. then run the ln command
Code:
sudo rm /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins/libnpjp2.so
Click to collapse
You can also use root explorer to set permission for the files
Set to this:
read write execute
X --- X----- X
X ---------- X
X ---------- X
I will try to make updates to this whenever possible.
If anyone could tell me an easy way to take a screenshot from the weptop I would gladly take some and upload.

I have no idea how to post screenshots of webtop but I know its possible.
Also I'd like to add that if you do his method and download the current version... Java runs very very slow. This version is much better.

You could try imagemagick. Not sure if it's in the repos though. I'm about to head off to work or I'd try it.
If it's installable just type in a terminal window.
Code:

Could you post a link to the exact download for this? I could include it in my post.
I dont own a laptop dock anymore by I thought there was a screenshot function built into webtop. (Printscreen key or ctrl+alt+c).
Also I dont think minecraft will work cause it has native libraries for x86.
Very correct, ctrl+alt+c works.
There is no printscreen key though.
Yeah, no luck with Minecraft. It starts to load then just displays a white screen.

I dont quite know much about the modded versions of Firefox, but I would assume it acts and functions the same as Firefox itself? Ie, there is an addon folder?
That or get your firefox back working by backtracking your Iceweasel.

[Q] Rooting Huawei Vision U8850

Hi together,
I'm trying to root my Huawei Vision U8850. There seems to be only very little information about this phone available, and I've had no luck so far trying various methods.
I've tried SuperOneClick 2.3.3, UnlockRoot, DooMLoRD v4 and some other batch scripts, with no avail. The problem seems to be that the phone is running with Android 2.3.7, and most of the tools are using the Zerg Rush exploit, which seems to have been fixed in 2.3.7.
Zerg Rush always returns a "[-] Hellions with BLUE flames" message, which I suppose means that it failed.
Does anybody know a way of how to get root for this phone?
I've found a Chinese(?) forum where they asked the same question it seems, but I couldn't register there without some sort of code. Maybe somebody knows actually Mandarin/whatever.
translate.google.com/translate?hl=de&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fbbs.huaweifan.com%2Fshouji-15208--2.html resp. bbs.huaweifan.com/shouji-15208--2.html (links not clickable I'm afraid).

I've found a Russian forum with quite much activity regarding the U8850 Vision. Problem is, I don't speak Russian, and registering on that forum requires you to input a Cyrillic CAPTCHA, which of course didn't work with Window's Character Map.
I've tried to translate the instructions on how to get root from this post: 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=257207&st=1700#entry14246750
I am however not sure if I understood everything correctly, or if Google Translate was working correctly.
I'm also not sure what exactly the "Russian Channel" firmware will do to my phone (e.g. phone is only in Russion, keyboard is in cyrillic, GPS not working, etc).
The firmware can be found on the official Huawei page (alongside a "Japan softbank" version): huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do?method=gotoProductSupport&productId=3812&tb=0
Below is my take on the instruction (which I haven't tried yet). Does this sound plausible to you?

Ok, I've successfully performed the root now by creating a custom firmware which includes su, busybox and Superuser.
I've uploaded the firmware here:
mediafire.com/?aaqs7vt7aavv3
To flash the firmware, you will need the "U8850 Upgrade Tool V1.8.4" from here:
ww*.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDQwNjQ=
This will erase all of your user data, so save anything before you do this. And of course I'm not responsible if anything bad happens to your phone, all I can say is that it worked for me.
The firmware is based on a Slovenian one found here:
johnnyparanoia.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Huawei%20U8850
I've labelled this method the "Russian Root", because I found the initial instructions on a Russian forum. I've translated the instructions and added anything missing to it.
See below for a detailed instruction on how to create a custom rooted firmware for yourself.
/**

You'll need both Windows and Linux to perform this update (e.g. a second computer, multiboot or a virtual machine).
In Windows:
1) Download the "U8850 Upgrade Tool V1.8.4" from here:
ww*.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do?method=gotoProductSupport&productId=3812&tb=0
2) Download the "U8850 (Android 2.3.7)V100R001C279B244SP22(Slovenia TUS Mobil)" firmware from johnnyparanoia.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Huawei%20U8850 or madmodder.co.uk/huawei/u8850/huawei-u8850-firmware-list.htm and extract the contained firmware (we need the SFC-244M-0-8025-A03.nb0 file)
3) Download nb0-utils.jar from yadisk.cc/d/MbFUvzN6bic
4) Download busybox from yadisk.cc/d/JIWwvYPNblL
5) Download su from yadisk.cc/d/XtZXIL9rble
6) Download Superuser.apk from yadisk.cc/d/7TQNlhsFbm1
The following steps need to be performed under Linux:
7) Create and navigate to the folder where you want copy the downloaded files to (e.g. "sudo mkdir /home/username/u8850/")
8) Create a folder where you want the firmware to extract to: (e.g. "sudo mkdir /home/username/u8850/extracted/")
9) Copy the downloaded files to the folder you just created in step 7), using a usb flash drive or whatever means you have (e.g. "sudo cp /path/where/they/are/saved/*.* /home/username/u8850/")
10) Go to that folder: "cd /home/username/u8850/"
11) Unpack the downloaded firmware into the "extracted" folder, using the following command: "sudo java -Xmx512m -jar nb0-utils.jar unpack SFC-244M-0-8025-A03.nb0 /home/username/u8850/extracted"
- Note #1: if this doesn't work, try to install Java first: "sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre"
- Note #2: extracting the firmware requires quite a lot of RAM, hence we added the "-Xmx512m" flag which allows Java to use up to 512 MB of RAM. Make sure your Linux machine has this much RAM available!
12) The extracted file "SF8-0-244M-0002-system.img.ext3" contains the Android file system, so we need to mount this file.
- To mount it, we first need to create a folder in /media/: "sudo mkdir /media/android"
- And then we mount the file to that location: "sudo mount /home/username/u8850/extracted/SF8-0-244M-0002-system.img.ext3 /media/android/"
13) Copy the previously downloaded "busybox" file to /media/android/xbin/: "sudo cp /home/username/u8850/busybox /media/android/xbin/"
14) Change the file permissions to 755: "sudo chmod 755 /media/android/xbin/busybox"
15) Copy the previously downloaded "su" file to /media/android/bin/: "sudo cp /home/username/u8850/su /media/android/bin/"
16) Change the owner and group of that file to root: "sudo chown root /media/android/bin/su" and "sudo chgrp root /media/android/bin/su"
17) And the rights to 6755: "sudo chmod 6755 /media/android/bin/su"
18) Copy the previously downloaded "Superuser.apk" file to /media/android/app/: "sudo cp /home/username/u8850/su /media/android/app/"
19) And change the permissions to 644: "sudo chmod 644 /media/android/app/Superuser.apk"
20) Now unmount the image file again: "sudo umount /media/android"
21) And pack the firmware again into a .nb0 file: "sudo java -Xmx512m -jar nb0-utils.jar pack /home/username/u8850/firmware_rooted.nb0 /home/username/u8850/extracted/"
Now we're finished in Linux, the actual flashing has to be done in Windows.
22) Somehow transfer the newly created firmware_rooted.nb0 file to Windows (e.g. with a USB stick).
23) Unpack and install the "U8850 Upgrade Tool V1.8.4". This will install a "SUT L3" program ("Software Update Tool") and the USB drivers for the U8850 Vision.
24) Connect your phone with a USB cable and use the Software Updater to flash the firmware_rooted.nb0 to the phone.
Don't get (too) nervous during the flashing and booting procedure, it does take quite a while.
After completion, all of your data will be reset and the phone should now be rooted. To check, use e.g. "Root Checker" from the market or any app that needs root rights.

I haven't noticed any particular problems which I could connect to the rooting process. Yesterday it did take the phone quite a while before getting a GPS fix, but it has done that before (seems to be a general problem for me, even with AGPS settings), but GPS itself was working fine after that.
I'm also having some issues where the internal partition (resp. the /system/ folder) reports an error that there's no space left on the device, e.g. when trying out AdAway instead of AdFree Android. And the latter was working fine.
Besides that, it's working fine. I can call / be called, camera is working, music is working, radio is working (if you can call that working).
I haven't figured out yet how to install the Clockworkmod Recovery yet though. It's still requiring a valid certificate for the update.zip on the Recovery screen, that hasn't changed.
Hi guys,
U8850 Update Tool crashes when trying to flash a phone with the rooted imaged, works just fine with other images. Anyone else facing this problem ?

Nevermind, it was the filename that confused the Update Tool, changed the filename to a shorter one and it worked, it flashed it, now booting.

Yes, I'm afraid Dropbox doesn't really like public links, they've disabled that feature temporarily for my account. Although I severly doubt I've really reached the limit of 20 GB/day for this single file...
I've uploaded the file to Mediafire now, although I had to split the archive to make that work. I hope it'll live longer there.

Hi guys,
U8850 Update Tool crashes when trying to flash a phone with the rooted imaged, works just fine with other images. Anyone else facing this problem ?
---------- Post added at 02:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:09 PM ----------
Nevermind, it was the filename that confused the Update Tool, changed the filename to a shorter one and it worked, it flashed it, now booting.

Can you remember what the error message was when the filename was too long? Did it look like this:
Error Code: 0xc60e
Error: Download fail,
Error = SE_ERR_SUT_DETECT_DEVICE_FAIL (0xC60E).

[ TOOL ] CWM Update Binary

Ok folks. I've put together a Python/wxPython utility that will automate changing the update-binary in KitKat ROMs to a update-binary that is suitable for older recoveries. This will allow the older recoveries to install KitKat ROMs without having to juggle multiple recoveries.
This particular tool was written specifically for the LG Optimus One device family ( P500 and variants ). This utility will NOT manipulate anything other than an Android 4.4+ ROM for a p500 or thunderg board.
Users of other devices that may be interested in this utility for their device, please feel free to contact me via PM. As of now tho my intended audience is the LG Optimus One family.

Windows users need Python 2.7.6 and wxPython 2.8 installed on their PCs before trying to use this tool. I am working on a Windows only version as well.Linux/Ubuntu :: CWM_UpdateBinary_1.0.0.zip

Can I use in TWRP 2.6.3.0 to flash 4.4 ??
Cool, many thanks!
I am so happy to get rid of hardware button-based cwm for better recovery

More than happy to. I'll never be a professional programmer but I don't want to let what I've learned go to waste.

Tried on Windows XP x86, when pressing Update program silently crashes, binary doesn't replaced.
Python 2.7.6 and wxPython 3.0 installed, trying this 4.4 build.

When I replacing binary from tool manually TWRP 2.6.3.0 and CWM 5.0.2.0 still failed to install rom (Status 6).
What needs more to do?

Utility can be greatly simplified if use command line version of 7Zip. It can replace files in archive.
If it's really necessary (?) checking build.prop can be implemented though internal find command.
Simple BAT/CMD file and not needing additionally install large Python environment if Windows-version still will be based on it.
So here's attached simple standalone working script of that I talking for.
Extract, place ZIP into "1 Place ZIP here" folder, launch "1 Start.bat", grab file from "2 Done" folder.
Script checking line ro.build.version.release in build.prop. Written 4.4, but 4.4.* passed too.
All this can be easily wrapped in GUI (AutoIt etc).

I cannot say why the program fails on Windows XP x86 when pressing the Update button. I no longer own an XP machine to test on. I just updated my wxPython to the version you installed and it runs just fine. I'm at a loss. Sorry.
I appreciate your input, however I am a C/C++ programmer not batch script. The Windows stand-alone version has nothing to do with Python or wxPython. It is written in C at the API level so it's pretty small. I only mentioned installing Python and wxPython for those who may have been too impatient to wait for the Windows only version. Linux/Ubuntu OS's come with Python preinstalled.
Also, please bear in mind, I'm doing this on my dime and my time :silly: The Python version only took a few hours to write. The stand alone Windows version will take 4 times that long. GUI is done for the Windows version, I'm still having issues with my zip libraries.
I may also be missing something. I remember reading somewhere that the updater-script needs to be modified as well for this hack to work but I can't find any reference as to what exactly needs modified.
Windows XP x86, wxPython 3.0 will crash. use wxPython 2.8 is OK.
However, use TWRP 2.6.3.0 and CWM 5.0.2.0 still failed to install this rom (error Status 6).
Let me do a little more digging

Had what I needed all along... Oops. Running a couple tests yet. Will let yall know when I upload the update
Not sure what exactly is going on here. I have two P500 KitKat ROMs, 12/27 and 12/31. Manually editing or using my tool to edit both end up with the same situation after installing the ROM. It won't boot. Not even LG logo. My P509 eventually reboots back to recovery. So... I'm at a loss. Could be my recovery too, although I'm pretty sure someone else has reported success manually editing the ROM and installing with CWM 5.0.2.7 Touch by @vivekkalady.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
I still can't get either ROM to boot. No problem installing either ROM edited either way, they just won't boot. Editing manually or with this tool. WT?... I've tried with 4 different recoveries too...

[Q] Ubuntu and Flashtool problem

I have opened another thread about Ubuntu 14.04 not being able to show the internal storage of the Z2 before. I have it solved with this web pages help; http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2226702. (For Ubuntu 14.04 users, steps 3-4-5 are enough)
Then I have installed Flastool from it's official site and it just worked without needing further interfere from the command line.
How ever when I try to flash a FTF file I get the error shown on the picture. Some problem with header, a .sin file.
I have tried with different FTF files, all from XDA stock firmware topic. So I do not think they all are broken.
Why could it be and does anyone have a solution?
Thanks

Have you installed all of the drivers? That usually fixes that problem.

I believe there are no drivers for the Linux based OSes. If you mean ADB and Fastboot, yes they are installed.
Flashtool already can see and identify my device, it can even tell the version of Android inside.

I think I must add another picture because this one is barely read able.

You need to open flashtool as sudo or superuser
Also that screenshot is indicating a corrupted FTF

Sudo was the answer Thank you very much. This was literally the last thing preventing me from falling in love with Ubuntu, you saved that relationship
