[Q] Generic Imei i9300 galaxy s3 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings , I have a i9300 galaxy s3 I've found on the street and 1 month ago, it worked perfectly mobile , up to 1 week or so and let me take out coverage Not registred .
I was reading a lot about this and some were saying it was because the switch to a cooked rom or change to another might have missed the imei , since I had not backed the EFS folder I see a problem.
I've tried everything , both ariza patch , like changing to different versions of old rom and go put the patch ariza earlier, I've also tried changing the modem to different versions and different companies , but nothing.
I have also tried to reverse engineer the imei in mode, but will not let me enter the codes that appear on the Internet .
In order that no longer do, the strange thing is that in the list of networks appears to me Optus, Telstra etc, and give to connect and I appear properly connected , therefore I dismiss the imei this reported so it is .
And you see me imei is generic , not the original imei .
Can anyone help me ? .

[Q] Need help. GT-i9300 network problems + sn = 00000000000

Hi All,
I have accidentially bought Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 in China. Device came with Hong Kong 4.0.4 firmware. Unfortunatelly i could not fully test it because i didn`t have a micro-sim. It is international version called I9300GSMH.
I returned home, made a backup of EFS with EFS Pro and flashed 4.1.2 Poland into my new toy.
After that i immediately got several problems:
1) IMEI is OK and legal, but SN = 00000000000. That means no network and no phone calls. Fixed quickly with "special modem", but not sure if it was the best way.
Is it possible to repair SN if i know it? Does it make any sense by the way?
2) GPS is not working at all. GPS Tool doesn`t see any satellite. Neither GPS no Glonass.
Have no idea how to fix it and why this sh,,t happened.
3) Wi-Fi range = 30 cm. My router is Dlink DIR655. Other Samsung devices work with it up to 15 meters around. This one - 30cm. Tried to change settings, apply fix - no result. My S3 can see all wireless networks around, even located on the different floor of the building... but it can`t connect to any of them with "passwor wrong" message. Put it right on the router and problem disappers. WTF???
My S3 came from Hong Kong, but it doesn`t accept China/HK firmwares. Odin stops on flashing the modem stage. Actually, for some reason, it can`t flash China/HK modems. My S3 accepts any of european FW/Modem, but not chinese, where it actually came from.
Now some surgery. /EFS and /Factory folders are different (how could that be?) Files NV_data.bin and NV_data.md5 are different in those folders. Actually approx 300 bytes are different.
NV_data.bin and .NV_data.bak are totally different and they have different dates of creation.
That is it. Have no idea what to do with this phone. It works as a phone with the patched modem, but no WIFI, no GPS, etc.
I will appreciate any help on this case.
Thank you in advance.

Thanks, but it is already done. My S3 doesn`t work with GSM network without Ariza patch. "Special modem" i meant Ariza patch for modem. That is the only way i know to make SN=00000000000 device work with GSM.
Any ideas why i`m having GPS and Wi-Fi problems? May be HongKong phone has slightly different hardware which is not 100% compatible with European firmwares?
Sounds like a convincing looking fake or a store demo unit etc.
Nothing is going to help, if it was a workable fake your going to need the custom firmware, the criminals used originally to build it.
Can you post a screen shot of the system info and pics of the actual phone?
Personally I'd just take it to a mobile repair shop to get it looked at and to get a proper answer.

I don`t think it is fake because system information looks like genuine samsung except sn=00000000000. also i can upload samsung firmware to it and it works except GPS and Wi-Fi. Under the battery there is a label containing Model = GT-I9300, real IMEI and SN.
Another question is modem. Telephone came from HK or China. I can flash it with HK firmware to return it to original state, but modem remains XX - europe. When i flash only chinese modem Odin fails with "bootloader blocked modem update" or something like that.
Smells fake .
Try the Chinese thread .

Why do you think it is fake? Fake phone has different firmware and not compatible with Samsung.
I have checked deviceinfo as well. It is genuine Samsung...
Can someone share deviceinfo from the International GT-i9300 ? I want to compare, may be some IC chips are different and i am simply using incompatible firmware...

Exactly same situation in Argentina.
I bought a SGS3 and after full charge battery and backup EFS I flash the Poland 4.1.2. After that i can´t connect to GSM network and my serial numer is 00000000000
Is not a fake. I bought from a recognized operator.
Then I flash an ICS 4.0.4 ARO (ARO = Samsung official roms for Argentina)
Now I looking for the Ariza solution, but I fear to have the same problems descripted here, cause I have the same facts.
So ¿Any questions to this post answers?
Thanks people, for that who live away from big cities is impossible go to a technical service.
Update. I`ve also got i9100 aka Galaxy S2. After official (no grey market, no sim-unlocks, no root, no odin, etc) update via Kies it shows same SN=00000000000, but everything is OK. GSM, 3G, WiFi, Bt, Gps - all parts work as they should work without any problems or applying any patches!!! That means problem is not in SN=00000000000. This zero SN is probably just a sign of the different problem.
same problem

No IMEI = return to seller possible stolen phone . Take to service centre .
Modem does not fix IMEI .
IMEI restore is only by restoring your backed up EFS folder .

If your phone has only empty/broken IMEI. You may send it to any service center. It is very easy to reprogram EFS and repair IMEI if you have original IMEI on the phone label.
In my case nothing worked but IMEI was correct and here is step by step instruction )
Step 1. Find working 2nd hand 9300 motherboard ($130 in my country).
Step 2. Replace motherboard.
Step 3. Ta-da.

[Q] can't call

hi there!
Ive read all I could and despite coming across several similar problems, haven't found an answer (so if anyone has an idea, plz help!)
I'll try to be as concise as possible:
I have a message that says: not registered on network
I have a China Unicom galaxy S3 (international model, gt-i9300) not copy, original version, bought from service provider store, running forever on android 4.0.4 (no updates available, via kies, or software update whatsoever)
As you know, because it was bought in China, it's blocked from factory settings (no svoice, google play, among others and of course a reduced overall functionality and an alarmingly high used of RAM despite of every app being closed) and even you can download most apps, they're in Chinese and they're different and not completely working versions of them (i.e. fb, skype,...)
Read and read, until managed to do rooting via heimdall (only have mac available), once installed SU, managed to download and install google play, but it kept on crashing, along a previously (VPN only) functioning fb app, and twitter.
After a while of more research I came across odin mobile, and by downloading an international ROM from Hong Kong via Sammobile, managed to install 4.1.2 from HK (I9300OZSEMC1). Despite the now no restriction phone i had, i came across a problem: cannot call or message or use mobile data, only with a message that says " not registered on network"
I did check the sim card, and selected the network manually, without success.
I checked the AP, CP and CSC and they were unknown.
After much frustration i remember i had a backup if the original carrier, and after re-rooting, managed to get back to the super blocked version of it, bu t the problem remained: not registered on network.
I checked again the ap, cs and csc and now are back to factory default (just like they were before all this odyssey began).
I changed the sim card to my gf's iphone and it works there, just not on the galaxy....
I repeated the above two times more, using roms from HK, Taiwan and UK..... same problem, even when going back.
Any ideas? I'm quite desperate now
thanks!!!
Is your IMEI the same as under the battery .
If not restore your backed up EFS folder.
No backup = service centre .
Do you have the correct modem and CSC for your network .

yes, imei is the same
before doing all the process, i verified and saved screen captures of how it was before and after, both pictures coincide, but still nothing...
(what is EFS folder? , i've done this with little knowledge on the topic, so i've no idea what's that ^^"
I guess service centre might help, but well, since this is China... i expect the worst.

I'm assuming you may have changed the modem during the flashing of the HK fw, try finding a Chinese Modem and flashing that. TBH this is why people tell you to read and read again before rooting and flashing custom roms.

[Q] Selected Network Unavailable on my S3

The Current Problem with my s3 is that it cannot register on a network. It shows Selected network Unavailable
My phone i got it second hand, It used to show a Tmobile Start screen beofre i updated it.
I flashed my phone using odin and loaded firmware with baseband version i9300DDLJ1 . I think this baseband version is indian based. After i flashed the start screen started showing Samsung insted of Tmobile . Initially when i flashd the IMEI got changed. Later IMEI was corrected from a Mobile shop using their STP box
So soon after i flashed , the phone cannot register on network. I messed up with the EFS folder i think . I dont have any backup of EFS folder
The current Situation is IMEI is corrected , The phone shows list of all availalbe network when i search manually . But once i select my home network it shows selected network unavailable. I tried to restore/reset the phone several times . Tried with different Sim card also. No use , still it cannot register on to network
My Conclusions
EFS Folder Is messed up
IMEI is Corrected Using STP box
Base Band is i9300DDLJ1
Originally Phone is Tmobile Based
Phone Variant is GT-i9300
Problem is Cannot Register to network
check out other sections and pick one

Read the faqs and guides first .
Your questions have been answered multiple times .
A Clue
Sim faulty
IMEI/ EFS corrupt
IMEI blocked / blacklisted .
Wrong modem and CSC for location .
Wrong manual network setup .
Suggest you get a service centre top fix .

Solved using z3x samsung tool pro
Enable usb debbuging, connect to your pc using usb cable, root your phone , start Samsung tool pro, select com port, go to repair tab and click on patch certificates. I've tried all other solutions I found on different forums, bricked the phone several times, but this did the trick.

[Q] GT-i9300 Connectivity issues with baseband

Hi guys,
This is my first thread and I've just recently began rooting and flashing roms etc.
I'm sorry if this is a duplicate thread but I searched the forum and found nothing. Here's the thing:
I have a Samsung GT-i9300 ( international version ) and after the first flash I lost my efs folder.
Which did not only mess up my IMEI. It messed up bluetooth, connectivity, wifi adress and the phone lost it's identity.
I took it to a " technician " who said he could fix it. He restored my imei, but the network wouldn't work. So he put another IMEI and voilá!
The phone had connectivity and worked perfectly. So he told me that my phone's imei was reported as stolen because the network wouldn't let it connect. ( and I have had this phone since it first came out of the box and I never reported such a thing. )
He then said the police would have to be involved to verify if i'm the owner so I just told him to put a new imei on.
When I picked up the phone it was working fine. Full connectivity. Then I flashed a rom and lost my efs folder again.
Luckily I had a backup of the imei, wifi, serial and bluetooth adresses. Which were sucessfully restored.
But still, no connectivity. So I googled it and finally found a solution! The problem is with the Baseband.Basically the phone lost it's baseband files, without which the phone cannot connect to the network, and when the " technician " restored my imei, he copied the whole EFS file from the dead phone. Which then replaced the missing files and the phone worked. So my IMEI wasn't blocked, my EFS file was corrupted and the baseband files were missing.
I used the Ariza patch. And voilá, the connectivity is back. But after being turned on for about an hour, the phone has a pop up which says it's not registered in the network and it must restart with a valid sim. And it's a no option pop up, you are indeed forced to restart your cell phone which is annoying because it shuts off at night and operations that take more than an hour are impossible.
But still, after 2 days, the ariza patch stopped working. The phone is in Emergency Calls only now and it doesn't detect the sim. But it's not blocked, it connects to the network.I read that you could flash the modem files to fix this aswell. So I downloaded the modem file for my phone, from my carrier ( VODAFONE PORTUGAL ), from one of the threads here. It didn't work.
Now, this is the question:
Is it possible that it didn't work because my new EFS file is from a phone based in the UK and my phone is from Portugal?
Can it be a sim software problem?
Also, is there any solution found other than the obvious which I've already exhausted ( flash stock rom, wipe cache, etc )
Thank you an Advance guys!

Samsung galaxy s3 without S/N and imei dead but now ITS ALIVE!!!!!

Hi, this post is for everyone ho have big problems with the samsung galaxy s3 like me. My nature is to be curious, thats why i install many roms and custom roms and after that in the morning i bricked my phone. The imei it was 0049..... and serial number a number not throught. Practicaly my phone it was like a media player because wifi its working. I try many metods but without luck. In the past i make a backup of efs folder but after many metods of restore .... no imei. I look on my phone and i want to jump over his had ). After i smoke a tigarette on a site i see e simple metode. It is an aplications CHIMERA PHONE TOOL . Take a look on site : https://chimeratool.com. What do you must to have is to pay 12 euros. Is not to much because for go to service i think we must to pay much more. The program is very simple.
- Connect with USB DEBUGING ON. I hope you install the drivers for s3.
- The aplications (if you pay) show like this in the picture below.
- You have many posibilities: root unroot, flash new firmware from the zone where is the phone located. Its nice because for me is not important witch csc kernel modem bla bla bla i have. Important it was to working very good. You can repair imei, serial number, and.... MAC adresse of wifi and bluetooth.. nice. And not for the last place , you can UNLOCK the phone.
Dont make like me, first you must to flash firmware beacuse its better to be stock and new and for not have errors on writing imei..After you flash the rom you must root and after that write s/n and imei. By mistake in the morning when i erase imei i erase also the serial number and i dont realize that. Its very important to verify on settings if you have S/N like on the back of the phone near imei. After that the phone is working without any problem. In the past every time i flash something i must to install pached kernel and modem of ZULUMAN to working. Or ariza patch . Good luck, if you have problem write here.
