Hey guys, so since i've gotten my S4 i've noticed that I have horrible battery life. My biggest gripe is when i'm not touching my phone. For instance, last night, charged my phone and after it was done I went to sleep. About 12 hours had passed by the time I had touched my phone from it being charged, minus checking the time a few times. My phone drained from 100% to 64% percent, not being used! I'm gonna try and give as much info as I can as I want some help to understand what's going on. Ok, I use Nova launcher. I have one widget that I use, HD widget clock. I put my phone on blocking mode when I go to sleep to suppress all notifications. So there is no LED usage when the phone is idle. The other thing I like to do is end every active application and clear memory(both from task manager) when I go to bed. Last night for the first time I turned off Wi-fi to see if that would help, obviously not. the last thing I do is turn the screen brightness all the way down. I'm gonna include some screenshots of the app "better battery stats" so maybe that will help, because I don't completely understand it.
Thanks for any help.

Not sure why to say. My wife has a S4, stocked and her battery life is more than adequate.
safestrap enabled hyperdrive powered
My s4 has great battery life. I rooted it, removed a lot of bloat ware, installed SetCPU and applied some profiles. Since I can't use my phone at work, I turn my data off and leave it there. In 8 hours, my battery level only went from 100% to 94%. When I'm at home, I also leave my mobile data off and connect to my wifi. I also use a task killer as well. Screen brightness can also take a major affect. There are many ways to conserve your battery. If you have a lot of apps running in the background, that can drain your battery as well.

It shows over 4 hours awake time...were you using it for that time?...if not you have a major wakelock that keeps your phone from idling...personally I keep WiFi data and all location access turned off unless using them...better battery stats is a great app...there is a function on there that allows you to see what's causing wakelocks...it should help in diagnosing some or most of your battery drain...I used it to find my issues and last time I did a short test I lost 3% in about 16.5 hours...that's with a couple very short calls/texts and only using it to check time

I work a third shift job so a lot of days I sleep very late into the afternoon. When I wrote this post I hadn't even been awake for 4 hours yet. So no, I hadn't used it. I'll try and grab a screenshot of the wake locks stat.

If you click other it will bring up a menu that shows kernel wakelocks and partial wakelocks...messing with most of the kernel related ones can be tricky...but 99% of the time the problems can be solved by messing with the settings in the apps that show up under partial wakelocks

So, it looks like maybe light manager may be my biggest problem? That's interesting to me because I put it in blocking mode. I guess that doesn't make a difference.

Hmm...are you rooted?if so you can download an over/under clock app that allows you to set profiles like screen off min MHz...with min set lower your phone can wake and do what it needs to do without it jumping to higher MHz which will help keep battery use way lower...It looks like you are running stock touchwiz...I'm not too familiar with it because I use aosp ROMs...I know some touchwiz ROMs are bad on battery...do you know which build you are on?its under about phone where it says build number

No...nova is just an overlay that makes things more user friendly...touchwiz is always running in the system and can't be removed without damaging stability...if Samsung would ship their devices with pure android from original source their devices might near perfection...but I have never used nova and don't know how it affects battery

You can try it...if it doesn't help and you like the app you can always reinstall...there are also a few decent battery life threads on xda here that may have answers that I don't...good luck
I run Nova and it doesn't effect battery life at all for me. There are some really good wakelock detectors in the play store that are easier to use although better battery stats is good too. I'd try using greenify as well. It works great

I am using JD Ultimate and even with that on aggressive/extreme I only get about 6-7 hours of battery life. Im always carrying around my charger, which is ridiculous. Considering it took 2 weeks just to root my Samsung Vibrant, im very hesitant on trying to switch to a different ROM/kernal. But the battery just sucks soooo bad!! Ive even bought a brand new battery only to get the same results. Ive also used battery calibrator and setCPU and never got more than 8-9 hours. Are there any other options im overlooking before I attempt to switch to a different ROM? My main concern is that I dont want to lose my stuff or have to reset all my settings.
Try this...
Use phone till it dies on its own, completely dead.
Charge phone completely, plus 30 minutes longer.
Unplug phone from charger
Reconnect, you'll notice it's not full, charge till it is again.
This is bump charging and NOT something you want to do often, a few times is okay, in my opinion. You could skip the bump charge if you like.
Phone remains plugged in.
Boot into recovery (volumes + power)
Advanced > wipe battery stats, reboot.
Use phone till it's literally about to shut off (or does) Charge till full + Use phone like normal.

Now, when it comes to roms it's kind of hard to say which has best battery life considering their are hundreds of roms for the vibrant floating around. But I can tell you that if you flash MIUI and then flash the Bali-CM kernel you'll get great battery life and an excellent rom! If you follow my guide it will teach you how to backup everything so you don't have to start from complete scratch and how to flash MIUI and more! Here's a link to my guide... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307637&page=1
How do I get into the advanced area? I don't see it in recovery
It should be on the main CWR screen...

Battery Calibrator from the market does the exact same thing w/o booting into recovery. It is just in an app version. Or you could, now that you have root, go into Root Explorer or whatever file manager you have with root permission and go here /data/system/ and delete this battstatt.bin (it is just the manual way to do it).
I have tried to help you on this before and am determined to get you more that 24 hours on a single charge (unless you want me to back off). I just see your threads and know that it can be done. I'm getting outstanding battery life and you should too.
24 hours? Is that possible?

I am getting 30+ with on-line music in the mornings, XDA at lunch and Poweramp the rest of the day. Surfing on the way home from work with music playing (I take the bus, so I have plenty of time). Check XDA later on, market, Dolphin and standby overnight. Start recharge around lunchtime.
I am using Juice Defender Plus,Toxic8 ROM with Bali 1.2 kernel. I don't have FB, G+ or Twitter updates running and have JD+ set on an app-to-app basis to kill the radio/data when the screen is locked. Just because the screen is off, doesn't mean the phone is off. Radio/data running is huge battery drain.
Dude, 30+ hours!? That's crazy! I've never tried JD before, but after hearing this I'm going to give it a shot for sure. Thanks.

This is how the JD Plus works (no need for JD Ultimate b/c we don't have many of the functions it supports. I just copied this from another thread the OP started awhile ago and I was trying to helps him out there.
If you set it to custom, the go into the settings tab on the right and then all the way at the bottom, there is two buttons to push, The first in Interactive which will pull up Juice Defender for up for any app that isn't already configured and the other is Configure Apps. This is the one that you can customize on an app-to-app basis where if you are no using an app and the screen is locked, it kills the radio/data traffic for that app.
Say you are listening to IHeartRadio, this you would want either Enable or Enable/off (which means the screen will be locked but the radio/data will be working). Now take the browser. It you are not using the browser, then you don't need it transmitting data right? So you would set that one to Enable (which means that it will only enable data traffic when that app is being used).
Juice Defender only works when the screen is locked, don't forget and all widgets are battery drains b/c all they really are is a monitoring app and if it is tied to something like FB or G+, then that data will be running constantly.
Examples:
Gmail = Enable (not enable/off b/c then it will keep your radio/data open)
Beautiful Widgets = Enable/off
mClock/Clockr = Enable/off
Angry Birds = Disable (with this and something like Adfree, no more ads in Angry Birds even though the ads are embedded in the .apk)
SMS/MMS = Enable or Do Nothing (why would you push disable)
Enable = Radio/data on when app is in use (front)
Enable/off = Radio/data on for background apps (when screen is locked)
Disable = Disables radio/data traffic completely when that app is running
Do Nothing = What is says.
I have been using JD+ for over a year on 3 different phones and have noticed a considerable difference in battery life, even on a crappy Motorola phone. Just takes some time to figure out YOUR settings and what YOU like. I have also used it on Stock kernel and had no problems either.
You wouldn't believe how anxious I am to try this. You've not only exposed me to an app I've never tried before that will increase my battery life, but then gave me instructions on using it. Thanks so much. Also, can I PM you if I ever have anymore questions on this app?

Most definately. Here to help. I used to have a bootlocked 2.1 Motorola that only had 256ram and crappy battery life. Learned all about minfree settings, battery savers and adb. We eventually hacked 2.2.1, CM6/7, Miui and built a custom recovery from scratch (CWR hijacks don't work on some Motorolas).

Thats the settings I have using JD ultimate. I just have "keep data off" and then enabled whatever few apps I usee that need data when i need to use them.
I really would love to have 24 hours of battery life. I use battery calibrator, but im not sure thats helping. Did get a new battery last week. I have also set JD to only have data in use when i open an app that needs it, like your settings show. Ive had it like that since i bought JD a year ago.

You only need to use Battery Calibrator once and not on every charge. I just use it when I flash a new ROM or restore an old one. What ROM are you using? Lets start there. What is your day like in terms of phone use i.e. what are you using it for and how long? If you are using heavy data/ graphics, process apps for long stretches at a time, then of course you are going to drain your battery quicker. But if you are listening to music for a stretch or playing a game for 20-30mins, then it should last longer.
Don't forget that while you are screwing with it trying to find out why you don't have good battery life, that in itself is using battery power.
You should try these
ROMs: Toxic8, Bionic, Bi-winning, Zendroid (all 2.2's)
Kernels: Bali, Immortality, Overstock.
Give them a shot and then see which is better for you. If you are on stock ROM/kernel, it won't have the tweaks that custom ones do to extend the battery life.
How about your brightness settings? I find that turning down my brightness even a little does wonders for my battery life.
Day in the life for my phone usage.
Wake up at 7 for work. Phone has been on charger all night and is fully charged. I use jd on night setting. Usually at my 10am break I check fb real quick four maybe 10 min max. All day my jd settings are set to only enable data when I open an app I have set to connect data. My display brightness is at 25%. Not on auto brightness. I have stock every thing. Took me 2 weeks to root. At noon my battery is about 70%. And I haven't touched it since 10am break. Then when I get off work is about 45 at 5PM. I still have night classes and my phone does at about 6PM.
I literally watch my battery stats drop every few mins
The thing is, in really not using my phone much thru out the day and background data its switched off with either jd our apn.

You can flash any kernel that is a 2.2 kernal. Read the OP and you shoudl be good. I would flash Bali X 1.2 instead b/c you can overclock it if you ever want to in the future (and it is of 2.2 roms). Beware that overclocking will reduce battery drain, but really not that much. Your stock ROM and kernel are the problems with your battery imho.
I think that once you flash a new kernel, drain the battery and fully uninterupted recharge (without using it-try overnight), you will be pleasantly surprised.
Not sure why you want to stay on stock ROM b/c most the other ROMs have battery/data tweaks that will really open your eyes to the possibilities of your phone. To each their own though. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Anyone else noticed that there is still no battery usage data available even after the ICS update?
Is this a kernel issue?
I was a bit supprised that this is still not fixed.
I wanted to study the usgage as it seems not as good since the ICS update.
I agree this would be very useful feature
Several threads on this already but the answer is.. yes, kernel related and they failed to update the kernel and roll this function in. It does suck, as that is a valuable feature.
Complain to them, email or call.
Battery usage is showing up on mine... maybe I don't know what I'm talking about . Are there some other battery-specific statistics we should be seeing apart from the graph and time?
But I do have to agree, the battery on ICS doesn't seem to be as strong as HC. One thing I've noticed though is that the usage time on ICS seems to be count of actual hours, not including idle, while HC graphed idle.
Soon as I got home yesterday, I started using my Prime for a couple hours, put it to sleep while I did other things for a couple hours, then used it for the rest of the night before going to bed. Looking at my battery usage, it was at about 5.6 hours of usage, which is technically the amount of time I was using it. And my battery percentage was @ 42% at the end of the night.
Guys they did this for a reason constantly checking what apps are using the battery USES battery this is the same reason why Task killers do more harm then good on battery life!

Yes, and SystemPanel uses "one minute of CPU / battery time per day of operation" so I'm pretty sure the consumption is so insignificant as to not be a key area of savings.

poppy-**** - This function, minimal minimal power draw. So much so, many RO M makers and kernel makers are sure to add this function in their work as it is so valuable, the same guys that do everything to eek out battery life and minimize resource use to make the best releases keep this function. Notice the screen shot below? It is from ICS and it is from a ROM where the function was cooked in and made available on that kernel. And furthermore, according to previous TF owners, Asus added this in at a later update so it would correctly report. I would love to know where you officially read that Asus purposefully did not cook this into their kernel to "save battery".

Nope, your wrong
First.. this function is cooked into the kernel. If they don't cook it in, we don't get the data. So, it is not broke or busted, just not available.
Second... for the guys that say it works on the TFP, not true. Look close at the chart/graph - all you see are SYSTEM processes. You "should" be able to see actual apps and all 3rd party apps you installed battery usage.
If Asus had done it right, we should see this.. notice BELOW the first 6 system resources you can start to see the actual apps and their usage listed. We only get system resources.

Actually, you are incorrect. That is exactly the screen I have on both my 64 GB & my wife's 32 GB. Also if you click on the chart, you can see the status of when Wifi, gps, etc are all on and off.

Yes I can click on the chart. Yes I know how to use the setting. Yes I can see wifi, gps, screen, awake, charging, etc.. BUT THOSE ARE SYSTEM RESOURCES not apps! We are suppose to be able to see 3rd party apps and all apps usage, not just system resources. We all have this screen, we all have the chart, we all have the setting, we all have the timer, we do not have the ability to see any battery usage data about anything other than system resources.
So, do 2 things if you claim you can see 3rd party APPS..
1. post up your kernel (2.6.39.4 is mine)
2. post up a screen shot - let me see it and let me see it show 3rd part apps usage
That's correct. I mentioned the system resources because you were showing the app screen, which is what I have on both Primes in addition to the other screen.
Here are my details:
Android Version: 4.0.3
GPS version v6.8.13
Wi-fi: 6.1.1.17
BT: 9.23
kernal version: 2.6.39.4
Build IM74k.us_epad-9.4.2.7-20120106
I'm not able to post pictures from work, due to our proxy server. I'll do so from my unit tonight when I get home.
Not following you..
"That's correct." does that mean I am correct you do not see 3rd party apps and only see system apps or are you saying "That's correct, I can see 3rd party apps AND system apps"?
What do you mean "because you were showing the app screen"??
So your confirming, with the same kernel as me and everyone else, you see 3rd party apps in your list. Notice in the photo above you can see, at the bottom of the list UNDER the system resources you can see 2 3rd party apps.. Facebook and Google+ so your saying you can see apps like that??
I find this very hard to believe. I have 2 Primes in front of me, neither show anything but system resources. We are all on same kernel. Both show like this.. Notice nothing but system resources show and also notice that in photo 1 under just the timer NO list of apps or resources and then in photo 2 when you expand the chart, only system resources. If we had full function in the kernel, we should see it like the above phone screenshot.
So, post up your photos, now I am dying to see this...

srsly? I can't even see system stuff. Mine still says battery usage info not available. I've done several factory resets after ICS to try and fix other stuff, i just thought this was still broken.
Notice in my photo 1 - the main "Battery" screen before the chart is expanded - I also show no specific battery data as you should under the collapsed chart. I only show "battery usage data not available" and the timer that shows how long you have been off charge. We "should" see a full list of system resources and apps below that collapsed chart.
Notice in my photo 2 - the secondary screen when the chart is clicked and expanded, we only see system resources below the chart when we should, again, see all apps listed that are consuming battery.
So again, I can't wait to see chamberc's Prime screenshots showing his 3rd party apps displaying in ICS - heck, this did not even work in Honeycomb. I don't see how it is possible as we are on same kernel and many report this and I have 2 Primes in front of me both showing the same thing.
BEFORE my SXP could hardly live a day. Overnight it ate 20% of the battery just laying next to the bed. As I do not have any apps except those stock I cannot remove, I was surprised by the behaviour of the Android which drained the battery even more than the screen.
I SEARCHED a lot for any fixes or reasons, but I got nothing except some rooted methods and alternative roms. I even already thought about changing the rom, but as CM9 or CM10 are not yet ready I left this idea.
One day I suddenly REMOVED WEATHER WIDGET and next day I found it was a solution. AFTER that my battery is drained 2-3% overnight and 50% during the day when I am busy with my job not using the SXP for movie or games. This made a huge difference to me.
Before writing this post I TESTED. I moved the weather widget back. Put the SXP on the table for 3 hours and got 10% of the battery away. Than removed the weather widget and put it again on the table for 3 hours more. It drained 3% only (wifi and sync was on in both tests). This is not a big statistics but for me it proves the easy solution - STOCK WEATHER WIDGET DRAINES THE BATTERY and the phone can live 3 times more without it.
So if your battery life on SXP is the same pain as it was for me - remove stock weather widget and try to use another if needed.
This is quite weird. Never had anything like this on my S, not sure what could be different on SXP. I could suggest you enabling 'Use only 2G networks' option under network settings, that did greatly improve my battery and it gets only to 47% with gaming and messaging in whole day, while with 3G I had to recharge it everynight. Also try decreasing brightness a bit, that helps saving those few % too. Good luck!
This is not happening on my xperia P:good:
For the weather widget, what's the sync settings? If the app checks the weather data every 15 minutes, you're gonna have a bad time.
Not that I know, I use a custom app for my weather widget.
true
very true sir..even with other widgets they consume different percentages to the total battery life, i highly suggest using only the most simple widgets and removing the less important once, i only have a battery percentage widget and music player widget, i dont have a battery saving application though i have the stock ES task manager widget on home screen too but it only allows me to kill unused apps in a click and also when i turn off the screen.. my battery lasts 2 - 3 days max, no kidding, and i use it moderate to heavy, also brightness is set to just the right level.. this should apply to every other android device, though it still varies with the phones specs, if it has a large screen and multiple processor, it should consume more, but the little details that you adjust or disable should do the trick.. i also recommend using scheduled on-off which i believe is stock in most android phone, overnight, i only get 1-2% battery insignificant drain..
hmmm... I don't recall having such issue with my XP because I change in the widget settings to make it check for info updates every 12 hours.
And I also have network mode GSM only.
Here is my Battery diagram, is yours anywhere close?
Thou I don't know why the first major drop down happened. but usually it doesn't :-/

A lot of things!
1. Use gsm instead wcdma
2. Use WiFi wisely, don't leave it connected all day
3. Root your phone and install titanium backup, then freeze some apps
4. Install another launcher, like lightning launcher and freeze Xperia home.
5. Install another governors and io schedulers from Xperia u forum (search for ondemandax)
6. Use the limit background process between 2-3 (settings-dev options-limit background process)
7. Lower your screen brightness manually
8. Install init.d script support for stock Rom and add battery tweaks, you can find them spread over xda or just install pimp my Rom from play store
....
With that, and a little more, I can get two days of battery with my sola.

well, my XU is not draining battery drastically at all, even with WiFi turned on, but when I freeze some apps and change the launcher, remove widgets, etc, I got battery for almost 3 days, and with everything stock I have battery +/- 1 and half day
Turn on extended standby mode you knuckleheads , you will lose barely anything whilst your phone stands by in your pocket , still able to recieve texts and calls

I don't see the use of extended standby mode for me. I want to be able to receive Whatsapp and mail updates whenever they are sent to me, not only by checking whether I received something. That's what my smartphone is meant to do for me.

That's what I use my stylish watch for.. haha. I just want my whatsapp messages to be instant. Mail is not a big problem.
Just like I want text messages to be instant, as Whatsapp is the replacement of text messages right now.

I use the "Extended Standby Mode" and the battery is like this:
wow ! not bad !!!
That's kind of a contradiction compared to mine.
What was your display time?
Mine, on these screenshots, was 4 hours.
I was very intensively using Whatsapp, nothing else.
NFC off, GPS off, Bluetooth off, Autosync off, brightness on energy saving mode - low brightness.
And yes, I have deleted the weather widget.
Perfect Battery Charging
To get the puniest effect from your device battery, you must follow one rule says
“Charge your battery up to 100% only and after that, restart your Smartphone once to release all the resources back to the Android OS; Whereas, don’t plug your device for charging until it shows battery low message.”
If you follow this rule, then your battery life will be longer for sure! Try it out and see the difference.
Use the battery saving GPS feature

Android’s default GPS feature is useful if you use a lot of location tracking apps – like Google Maps or business finding apps. Thankfully, Google realized that GPS wasn’t very battery efficient, which is why they created a GPS mode that uses less battery life and implemented it into Android 4.4.
This battery saving GPS mode won’t completely take away your location-finding features, but it will use fewer reference points to find your location.
In all likelihood, your location will still be fairly accurate, just not as accurate or as quick-to-respond as the default GPS mode. To enable this mode in Android 4.4 KitKat, go to Settings > Location > Mode and then check the box beside Battery Saving.
If you’re in a situation where you need very precise map tracking, then you can easily disable this mode. Until then, enjoy your longer battery life.
"Not OK, Google"
On the one hand, be thankful your phone is such a good listener. On the other hand, it's not worth killing your battery life.
Thanks to the new, persistent Hotword detection, you can say "OK, Google" from any home screen (or within Google Now) to prompt Google Search and Voice Actions. That means, however, that your phone is always listening, waiting for you to say those magic words.

If you turn sync off you don't receive e-mail notifications.Using different charger won't break the battery it's just gonna charge your phone way too slower than its original charger. If you don't root your android phone, what's the point of using an android phone, just buy an iPhone.Memory managers don't work, they use ram and always run in background. Most of the time they don't even clear the ram.Battery manager apps are useless. They always run in background and use ram like memory managers.I don't believe that they help with battery life.If you want your phone's battery lasts longer in daily usage; Things you can do : Lower the brightness (not auto), turn sync off (if you don't use e-mail), wi-fi definitely off if not used, turn power saving mode on (at least tick cpu option). and of course gps/bt always off.
Apart from phone's settings things you can do : Putting your phone in airplane mode when you're going to bed (you don't have to use an auto app for this, remember they use ram), after putting your phone in airplane mode set its CPU frequency to something like 500-600 MHz.You don't need your phone to be fast while you're sleeping.
And definitely root your phone.Removing useless samsung apps and changing them with better apps that do the same work with less usage of the hardware will definitely speed up your phone. You're not just gonna remove some apps, if rooted, you should block apps that run at boot (except fb,whatsapp, foursquare etc. if you wanna get notification).
And no 3rd party apps that affects your UI completely (like launchers, lockscreens).Changing your launcher won't speed up your phone since it's based on touchwiz it's always gonna be a little bit slow in terms of waking up especially. They're just gonna use your ram and always run in background.
Anyway, this is how i use my phone. It lasts more than 2 days if I just use it for messaging, calling and mild internet use.But of course if you're gaming (i do) nothing's gonna stop it from draining Max 8 hours (which is actually good for this phone)
Nova launcher is better Dan most of d launchers out der and Memory managers really work for me ! And rooting ur phone would be like taking a step to destroying ur phone and I also don't see any point in rooting dis phone .... I have everything I want ! And Derz not much custom rom available so u wud haveta root only for using some root apps ! And dats a very big reply
And Bro Different charger really affects d battery as d pins differ and it will reduce d life of d battery

Isn't frequency scalable? (I thought this happens without the 3rd party apps...?). As I understand, the CPU goes to lower frequency mode automatically, since this is probably a kernel feature. Why do u need to set it specifically every night?

Introduction
As the owner of an Xperia Z3, I found myself missing Stamina Mode after flashing a CM12 ROM. None of the battery apps in the Play Store worked the same way - most of the ones I found merely disabled Wi-Fi/data while the screen was off, along with managing auto-sync, but I still wanted whitelisted apps to be able to access the internet.
I spent a good 12 hours straight working to replicate the basic features of Stamina Mode, and now here we are: Power Nap for Xposed!

Description
Compatible with any Android device running 4.1+, with root and Xposed.
Power Nap for Xposed is the best app for saving battery. When your screen is off, Power Nap maximizes your device's deep sleep time by stopping services, alarms and wakelocks from waking the device when the screen is off. This means you can leave Wi-Fi/data on and still get the notifications from apps you have whitelisted, while all others are unable to wake up your device, leading to an increase in your battery life.
Power Nap for Xposed also has a Low Battery Mode, where you can selectively functions to save power when battery level is low.
Power Nap for Xposed is inspired by Sony's Stamina Mode, but accessible for all Android devices 4.1 and higher. This app requires root and Xposed.
Be sure to whitelist any third-party alarm clock app you are using, or it will be prevented from waking up your device!
Permissions
android.permission.INTERNET: this is for Crashlytics only, which will automatically send me stack trace logs if the app crashes due to something non-Xposed related. No other information is being sent.
android.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS: For Low Battery Mode, to change screen brightness and screen display timeout
android.permission.READ_SYNC_SETTINGS: For Low Battery Mode, to check if auto-sync is on/off
android.permission.WRITE_SYNC_SETTINGS: For Low Battery Mode, to turn on/off auto-sync
android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: For Low Battery Mode, to check if Wi-Fi is on/off
android.permission.CHANGE_WIFI_STATE: For Low Battery Mode, to turn on/off Wi-Fi
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: For Low Battery Mode, to check if mobile data is on/off
android.permission.BLUETOOTH: For Low Battery Mode, to check if Bluetooth is on/off
android.permission.BLUETOOTH_ADMIN: For Low Battery Mode, to turn on/off Bluetooth
android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: For Low Battery Mode, to start a service that monitors the current battery level (if LBM is enabled), when the device is finished booting
Installation Instructions
To get the app, you can either opt-in for testing on Google Play (and/or join the G+ Alpha testing community if you're interested in helping out by reporting bugs and sharing your experiences), or simply download it directly from the Xposed Module Repository. You may need to change "Versions to be shown" to "Experimental" in the Xposed Installer's Settings to be able to download it using the app.
The latest APK version is also attached to the "Download" tab of this thread, but you will not receive updates using this method.
Final Thoughts
By using Power Nap, you can expect to see as little as 0.2% battery drain per hour (if you don't have many apps whitelisted) during standby. Results may vary by device and depending on which apps have been whitelisted.
Since it's in Alpha mode, please feel free to leave feedback and report bugs. If you need any clarifications on any aspect of the app, please leave a comment!

perhaps also worth mentioning, in my search to find this problem, I created a file to run at startup which sets selinux to permissive and chmods the xml files for powernap to global read write (i don't care )
/system/su.d/permissive.sh
#!/system/bin/sh
setenforce 0
chmod 777 /data/data/net.jzhang.powernap/shared_prefs/*.xml

i think the edit_check talking about this.
I haven't used this module for a long time. On Marshmallow+, you don't need it, because Doze mode is built into Android. But on anything up to Lollipop, PowerNap is still beneficial. Having SELinux in permissive mode makes this module work fine. If you're on Marshmallow+, check out ForceDoze/NapTime/Greenify/Doze Settings Editor. Out of those 4, I personally prefer ForceDoze, but they're all good. These apps let you fine-tune Doze mode. The best thing about these apps is that they don't require Xposed, you can use them with root. In some cases (like ForceDoze) you can set it up with ADB instead of root, which lets you reap the benefits without rooting. In terms of Doze mode vs PowerNap, I would say doze saves more battery overall. You can use both, but it's pointless, and your battery life savings will be minimal at best.
wow! This is great! Testing mode: ON :good:
Man ..
I spent the whole week looking for something like this .. thinking like I was thinking before I knew about #xprivacy ; there has to be someone thinking the same way am thinking with the knowledge to actually create it ..
Thank you
Will it work on android 5.1?
this looks fantastic!
never use sony devices before, let's say if I add whatsapp/bbm/snapchat to app whitelist I still could get notification or chat while the data will mostly turned off?
isn't deep sleep battery saver works with turning off data/wifi and turn on again for specific minute in time interval?
Are you planning to bring JellyBean support?

It's been confirmed that it DOES NOT WORK with 5.1 due to ART changes.

It may be similar, yes but Amplify works differently. In Amplify, you choose to disable/control things and in the hands of noobs, it can lead to bootloops. Here, the Dev chooses the things that can be stopped and being a Dev, he is experienced and knows what he is doing. In addition, Amplify works 24/7 whereas this app will work only when screen is off.
Plus this has a white list which will help you to decide what to allow.
I like the concept and would like to try it if the Dev offers another method of downloading the app.

Amplify allows wakelocks/alarms on a schedule (every 5 minutes while the screen is off), and uses a blacklist as opposed to a whitelist. Power Nap stops the wakelock/service/alarm from waking up the phone at all. I'm not sure if you can blacklist a specific app with Amplify, but with Power Nap you're able to control which apps are whitelisted, and any service/wakelock/alarm belonging to a non-whitelisted app will be blocked.
Plus I'll be adding more features to make it a general power-saving app as well, so look out for that soon!

Greenify hibernates apps while the screen is off, but I believe with Greenify you can hibernate apps while the screen is on as well(aka phone is in use). Power Nap only "hibernates" when the screen is off. So depending on what you use it for, you can either get rid of Greenify or keep it. But even if you use it alongside each other, it shouldn't have any ill effects.

The only reason I'm using G+ is because the app is in very early alpha (while it works, it's not pretty and Endurance Mode is the only feature right now). By joining the community and then downloading the app through the Play Store, I'll be able to get basic statistics (no GAnalytics yet) and crash reports.
