TIPS:
-If you are using doomkernel, you must flash wifi modules (check attachments)
-If you are having problem when downloading apps from playstore, download and run marketfix
-If you are having trouble with root in your rom with one of these kernels, install latest busybox, then update su binaries from within superuser app
WARNING:
Flashing kernel with different partition layout will make your current rom unbootable!!!
You must do factory reser (erase system and data) after flashing new kernel!!!!! MAKE BACKUP! Recommended way is to backup apps with "Titanium backup" or "Mybackuproot". You have been warned!
NOTE:
For easier wiping system and data, i've made batch file for windows users(it should help too if you are stuck in kernel logo and/or in recovery menu):
Download eraser.zip unpack anywhere in PC, and double-click on file "start.bat" when phone is fastboot mode to erase system and data partitions (best time to do it is right after flashing new kernel, but don't forget to select "factory reset" from recovery because ".android secure" folder from sd card must be erased too)

I've compiled Turbo Kernel (from 450344ebfc commit but still with cwm because on 175196a5ba commit cwm removed) with 400 gb system partition, some minor bugfix and bring back 720p support (though CosmicDan said it's buggy but I need 720p video recording). I haven't talk to CosmicDan yet to upload this kernel. I'll share the kernel both 720p and 480p after I got permission from CosmicDan.
edit: btw I can't pm @CosmicDan so @CosmicDan can I share your kernel mod? Thanks in advance

I still didn't try to compile turbo kernel, but if you had done it, just post link of kernel and source and i'll add it to OP.
I don't think you need explicit permission from CosmicDan because he will be given all the credits for making one of best kernel for Xperia Play

This was postd by COsmicDan in all his threads when he closed the threads. so I think you can post the kernel.. and just Credit to him.. I would love to see someone improving on the Turbo Kernel, while not messing with its original structure.. I mean the originality..

720p will not get nothing for our play..believe me..only consumes more ram as we dont have camera libs for it..not even on arcS and its better camera..even if you record on 1280x720p the fps are below( 640x480) 480p..so its a placebo effect..it seems recording but the quality indeed is inferior.

@Bakisha i have tried lupus jb v13 and flashed cm10 and slimbean but non of them booted after i flashed and select reboot my phone just show up black screen
can u please help me???

I admit, i didn't test jb kernel only (but it compiled without problem)
I think i know what is an issue (same reason it wouldn't work on other CM kernels).
For now, don't flash JB kernel (i'll delete from it OP) and i'll try to make it work
Ps: as i understand, you can enter recovery and flash rom? Did it even show kernel logo?
ps2: did you wiped system and data after/before flashing kernel?

sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question but the Q&A threads seem to only get "views" not replies.
will these work with the R800x with functioning network? id like to have a larger Data partition but it seems all the Kernels ive tried dont allow me to connect to my carrier (VZW).
thanks in advance.

Unfortunatelly, i wasn't able to fix it. I'm also stuck at boot animation.
Oh, well, i guess Lupus Jb v8 is only way to get bigger data partition on JB roms (that or arc s firmware flash)
Sorry guys for not testing this before published. Other versions are all tested and are working properly.
I don't know why Wedgess switch back to stock partition layout on JB v9+, but it must be good reason to do so.

The vendor partition is already unlocked for cdma. But not sure if those kernels will boot for us R800x users. It's one of those things you would have to just try.

in this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2328708 all went fine with r800x users flashing custom kernel lupus GB+ICS so i dont think they are gonna have problems installing this modified ones..only thing has changed as partitions..but maybe anyone can test and confirm this.:good:

[Kernel] SEtweak

So, preview of SEtweak (pre1) is out!
It's quite incomplete, without Synaptics DT, not netfilter and OC. I also forgot to enable NTFS, sorry
Just a proof of concept for those unwilling to unlock bootloader.
X8gesture will insmod fine.
Cypress users: remove DT module because this kernel already includes it!
Includes CIFS and tun - who need it, will know, who doesn't need it/know, don't bother
Download: -not working-
FTF bundle. Place to flashtool\firmwares, in GUI select X8 SEtweak-pre1 FW and flash it.
FreeXperia logo instead of SE standard, and [email protected] instead of [email protected] are easiest way to see that you have custom kernel.
Forgot to note: this kernel has gingerbread ramdisk, meaning it's for GB ROMs! Maybe works on stock, but may won't be stable!
Will include:
* Cypress dualtouch
* Syaptics fake dual touch
* custom netfilter tables
* overclock
Standard SEtweak features:
* NTFS
* ext4
* swap
* USB OTG experimental
* tun/tap/CIFS
Best regards

I flashed my kernel and it works. However, [email protected] machine name persists.
Anyways, take a look at this:

I need to make some more tweaks, pack correct ramdisk and remove [email protected] machine/user name.

Is it ever possible for a X8 kernel in the future to automatically convert /system, /data and /cache into ext4? Because I remember Galaxy Ace forums has a kernel that does this. Just a question .

Lol nice evaluation.
I've been too busy to follow these changes recently. Btw what do you mean by nand initialization. We need to fix nand detection or something?
Send from my GingerDX using XDA App
I talked to FXP about that NAND init. and it seems it wasn't actually SE's mistake, that's why kernel works after all and NAND init is fine.

Being part of FXP, my SEtweak will be based on FXP's kernel from github repo, and I'll include recovery in ramdisk as well.
It will, however, be modified and will have standard SEtweak features listed in first post.

Hmm... S1Boot actually handles partitions so I'm not sure... also, yaffs2 FS is made specially for NAND flash chips in phones, so ext4 shouldn't give much boost - absolute need for ext4 conversion is present only on Samsung phones which use rfs by default, and that's quite slow.

Why would we need million of recoveries? CWM is just fine and enough, and supports restoring from xRecovery.

I guess that the problem is that some devs didn´t migrate to CWM, and if we switch to this ROM which is using only CWM, then we need to back to stock, install xrecovery and then the other ROM , since CWM doesn´t install zip files made for xRecovery.

Well, ask ROM dev to convert amend script to edify, or do it yourself with aZuZu's tool. I will not include xRecovery because CWM supersedes it and it's official FXP's recovery.

You can convert the zip for xRecovery to for CWM by a simple tool. Get it here
I had tested it, and it's really easy and works fine.

You can notice, when the phone booted up, and you touch the area where where the lockscreen unlock is.

[KERNEL] muppet kernel for CM7.2 (Xperia Ray)

v2 Released. Scroll down for info!
Hello,
After lots of help from sirkay and FXP, I've built my own kernel that I thought I'd share with you.
This kernel wouldn't exist without the hard work of FXP. This is built from his source code. All real credit for this belongs with him (and DoomLord too, also an FXP Team member)
That said, this is my take and keeps the rather awesome release that is CM7.2 alive!
To be clear: This is a kernel for Cyanogen Mod 7.2 - Gingerbread! If you want a good ICS Kernel look at Sirkay's Thread.
So, what's different?
Uses a very recent GCC to compile, GCC version 4.6.3 which I optimised the build for Cortex-a8 and NEON.
Is compiled for performance not size (Optimize for size unticked)
Heap Randomisation is disabled.
Enabled SWAP - So you can use swap if you want to...
Default Scheduler changed to deadline, same as the Sony official kernel (still has bfq if you want to use it)
Default governor changed to ondemand.
CONFIG_OABI_COMPAT turned off. (This might break apps, haven't found any yet though)
Disabled CPUFreq Debugging.
Disabled FRAME_POINTERS, enabled STACK_UNWIND. Reason here: http://lists.openmoko.org/nabble.html#nabble-td6126708
There is no boot logo when this kernel boots. Each time I added one, the kernel refused to boot. I'll look at that. Just have patience, your phone is booting still...
(Here's where I make lots of stupid claims about how smooth, how buttery, how much battery life this kernel saves. Except I'm not a screaming idiot, so I'm not going to do that!)
I'm interested in any feedback you have, but I did this mostly for me.
And please remember the real person to thank, FXP. It's his source code I've used to build this. Also again thanks to Sirkay for his help and pointers.
Download it from here.

OTG support? ?!
Sent from my ST18i
so good, This is what I looking for
@muppetmania attach here you png file. i can try to convert it to .rle for you
Could GB MIUI have the privilege?
Could we have a CM7 based MIUI 2.3.7 kernel?
I think GB MIUI works just fine and don't want to upgrade to ICS or JB.
But a better kernel for GB MIUI is always appreciated.
Thanks in advance, pls let us know if you'd be willing to.

Thanks sirkay, but the problem isn't that I can't make a rle file, it's that the rle file when added to the ramdisk stops the kernel booting. It seems to a bug in the SEMC loader, I found a post about it somewhere. Does the boot.img need to be padded out to a certain size to work?
Sometimes my logo.rle would work, but then I'd make changes, recompile, and the kernel would hang on boot. Annoying, so I've removed it for the moment.

Hi rivtre,
I'd love to help, but my Ray is the only phone I have and is running CM7.2. While I could make a kernel for MIUI I'd have no (easy) way to test it. It wouldn't be fair to anyone if I started releasing untested things. So I'm sorry, it's not that I don't want to help, but no. Anyway, read the next bit to see why that's probably not a bad thing!
To All:
My kernel seems to be terrible when it comes to HD video recording. Can anyone else test this? I get heaps of dropped frames using my kernel when recording HD video vs a FXP Stock kernel. I need to look more at this, but for the moment I'd recommend not using this kernel!
v2 Released!
Version 2 of muppet kernel released.
What's new?
Compiled with GCC 4.7.1
Reverted to BFQ Scheduler by default
Reverted to Interactive CPU Scaling by default
Added logo.rle so you know it's booting!
Removed Debugging Symbols (CONFIG_KALLSYMS)
Reverted the scheduler and CPU scaling as they seemed to be the cause of the video recording lag.
Enjoy!

Not sure if it works with the stock ROM or not - try it and report back.
Yes, like all kernel images, you can flash it with Flashtool.
You can OC up to 1.6Ghz.
I tried it, but It doesn't work. Booting failed

Just flashed your kernel, going to give a test run! thanks!!
Edit:
Well it doesn't seem to me that the camera recording works at all ... pictures = fine - but when trying to record video - the image freezes - and the camera app crashes.
I have to reboot to get back into the camera app...
Also, can't play any video I previously recorded...
Anything I'm missing?
I've flashed your kernel and did a cache + dalvik wipe...
Cheers!

[Kernel][CM11/.13]Vatsal's Kernel v3

Hello guys,
After roaming around almost a year and half around xda, doing something fruitful
Here i present my first CM11 based kernel,
Disclaimer : You installed Kernel ,on your device ,I am not responsible .
If you installed kernel ,on a device ,without reading instructions ,I don't give a Damn !
Warning : I don't support Nandroid Restore
Attempting to use Nandroid Restore can lead to a perma brick .
Consider Nandroid to be permanently broken on this kernel.
Features :
100 mb shrinked from system to /data (For more internal memory ofcourse )
cache reduced to 8mb
Some touch tweaking (11 mb more ram Thanks @Dark Raven )
Toolchain used:
Linaro 4.7 by @Wedgess
Unique Feature
Modified partition layout which works flawless as far as my knowledge .
One Layout is maintains original system Layout ,The rest of 5 layouts come with Modified System Layout .
All Kernels have 8 MB cache partition so by default roughly 90MB bump in /Data is seen .
The best results with latest LX builds
-CM11.0-
Changelog:
Code:
V3
-- 201401227--
Reclaimed 60 mb more space
Same as LX 20140122 LX CM11 build
V2
-- 201401227--
Reclaimed 6 mb more space
Same as LX 20140122 LX CM11 build
V1
-- 20140122 --
Like in 20140122 LX CM11.0 build.
Steps to be followed:
Flash kernel (boot.img)
Boot to recovery, do all the wipes (data, cache, system, dalvik)
flash the rom zip
flash the minimal gapps if u want (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48535200&postcount=4)
boot
Note:
1) If you donot format system the rom wont boot even if your on same rom with different kernel. SO its mandatory
2) Flashing the whole gapps will result in a bootloop as i have shrinked a good amount of system size (~100mb)
3) You can run ART well but please donot report issues if your running ART as it is experimental (mike already said that)

Sorry if i forgot someone personally, please PM me.
So just for fun , i removed camera from kernel (29mb more ram). I dont use my neo v to capture photos so i am fine without camera. hence i made this with help of @Attitude.SSJ . Everything works as per above kernel by me and it has same features except camera (since i removed it ). clicking on camera in appdrawer wil give fc i hope you understand why. i would strongly recommend this kernel only when u dont need camera or you dont use it and Incase anyone is Freeram-freak like me can use this version. Download in the second post.
Enjoy!
Wow! Let's try!
I've tried with the LX Stock Kernels and Dark Raven Kernel and in only 2 days i've downgrade to JB (4.1.2) or ICS Roms cause a high battery drain by kernel wakelocks

Good work @koradiavatsal
Just my 2 cents
If you cant boot in recovery after flashing kernel then go back to fastboot mode and
Code:
fastboot erase system
Code:
fastboot erase userdata
and reboot device

[Kernel][Overclock][V2] Overclock kernel with boot menu for 4.4 Kitkat [Fandroid]

Thanks to XperiaSTE team for the overclock kernel source first. I just did the config and compile but nothing else.
This kernel will overclock your device to 1.15GHz. The overclocking will provide a better performance and a smoother user experience.
I'm using a kexec multiboot kernel on my device, so I didn't test the kernel packed as elf format. It should be good because I have done flashing the self-built kernels several times.
The overclock source doesn't seems to be the latest but everything works~ Maybe that's because the modules in initramfs? (I did nothing to initramfs)
It's nearly impossible for me to upload the kernel on something like devhost/mediafire, so sorry for that. Could someone upload it on these sites please?
V2 Changelog:
1) Use GCC 4.9 Linaro to compile.
2) Change the SLQB allocator to SLUB. I don't really think SLQB is stable.
3) use 2G/2G user/kernel split. It seems to have a better performance.
4) PID namespace
5) NOTE:NO recovery in V2! Instead of recovery, the kexec multiboot menu by @percy_g2 is added. Big thanks to percy_g2. For how to use it, see Link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/p-development/kexec-multi-boot-menu-t2647623
* To enter boot menu you should press the power key when vibrate
V2 Link: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mgt82V2

Finally, sorry for my poor English
Hope you like the kernel~

Thanks for your support!
by doing diff -u to the two xperiap_defconfig, the configs seem to be same.
So XperiaSTE did nothing more to the overclocked kernel.
therefore the config isn't changed and the only change is in the code.
Doing diff to the whole source tree will take much time so i didn't do it
By the github commit the changes seem to be all related to overclocking.

Just a suggestion for anyone thinking about flashing it right away:
Wait a couple of days/weeks for someone to do some testing, you could fry your motherboard (happened to me on my previous 2 phones).
I'm not saying this kernel will do that, but it's just a precaution.

I was running OC kernels on my previous phones and the motherboard frying happend months after use,
I'm not saying that this is the situation with this specific kernel, these are just my previous experiences,
and it was just to warn people
I had ever used panthom kernel on stock jb, it used 1.15ghz too but still safe used for a long time..
thanks for the great work.but how to install multi rom on our phones?
If anyone has a problem downloading the kernel from baidu, I have made a mirror on dropbox:

Ofcourse with the permission from the developer
Can someone please explain steps for installing multiroms? Can I use cm11 along with cm10?
Would the existing cm10 need to be reinstalled?
I've given link in the thread
No reinstalling is needed
