I looked around and did some searches but did not find this question so here goes...
In the past, I've used Titanium Backup to do this (integrate updates for system apps such as Google's Play Store and Play Services into ROM space). Not sure why, but this doesn't work for me anymore.
BTW, my Rezound is S-On, rooted, using Neo's CM11 hybrid ( 【ROM】【4.4.2】【UNOFFICIAL】CyanogenMod 11.0【02-03-14】【GPL】【HYBRID】) with dalvik.
Is there a more direct approach I could use to do this?
If a link could point me in the right direction, that might work as well.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a shot (probably this weekend) and report back.
Ultimate Backup?
I prefer it over TiBu actually, it has all the same functionality but isn't quite as finicky.

System App Names in /data/app Differ from /system/app
Reporting back.
I did look into the respective directories and determined the same apks are not named the same.
I also read some of the thread for BaNkS gapps and saw mentions of libs associated with private apps and those that aren't That made me wonder if there might be files (libs or other) needed for the apks in the /system/app area that differed (for whatever reason) from those in the /data/app area.
Rather than spend much time fooling with it, I decided not to try any experiments.
Still looking for other alternatives but living with what I have for now.

Thanks for popping in to reply.
That's my understanding as well; that's why I don't use it to restore any system apks. But that's not really what I'm doing.
What I do is to install the ROM and then apply any system apk updates from the Play Store.
What I used to be able to do is to "integrate" the update into the system space with TiBu and eliminate the double space-taking. I keep a lot of apps on my phone so that saves some space for me.
Until/unless I can find a safe way to do what I want, I'll just live with the excess space-taking.

Hi, sorry to necro this thread but I just looked at Ultimate Backup Lite, and read about Pro's features, and did some Googling and I can't seem to find anywhere in Ultimate Backup to integrate system updates. Maybe it can be done indirectly by backing up the system apk's update, uninstalling it totally and then restoring only the updated version, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing the feature somewhere. In the meantime, I'll make another Nandroid and try just what I described.
With TB, the only system app update I ever have problems integrating are Google Play Services.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Edit: well, that didn't work. Restored both exactly like they were, original apks and updates in data/app.

Too bad I didn't read all of this first.
After "integrating" with T/B, everything Google stopped working... Google Play Services, Inbox, Gmail, etc.
Believe it or not, I couldn't even delete and reinstall apps because the Play Store wouldn't even recognize my phone and I couldn't do the "locate" thing on the Play Store site to ring back the phone because apparently Location Services wasn't working.
After doing a couple of hours online for all of the error messages about Play Services unfortunately stopping, I TWRP'd the backup that I had made.
In fact, I wasn't able to re-download anything like Inbox, Gmail or Maps because believe it or not, my phone wasn't even recognized on the Play Store... it was greyed out with only my old Moto recognized.
Yet another reason for frequent backups when messing around with things that one unfortunately puts too much faith in before using.
So, long story short... there are apparently things in the original APK that need to be there in order for the update to work.
Everything is back to working order right now, unless I haven't discovered something lurking in the background.

Download Link2SD and on that, sort by Updated then press on an app, and "Integrate update to system" or something like that. I use it for Google updates too, it works perfectly, only Google Play Services FC if i integrate.. But give it a try after a backup I hope i helped!

I did exactly that but i found an issue... is it normal, that every time I integrate an update into the system rom, the available space is less? In my mind, the updated app should replace the one into the rom, so the available space in /system should be more or less the same. What am I missing...?

Why do some apps not show up in the Android market on the Archos 101? For example, I use an app called My Backup Pro...it doesn't show up. I searched for Lookout Mobile...it doesn't show...neither does Norton Mobile Security. I searched around but didn't find an answer to this. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,

not all apps will show up... from my understanding, protected apps do not appear. i myself have been looking for a few, and had to resort to side loading them.

Paid Apps Outside US?
I installed v5-final and have done the market fix several times but I only get free apps - NO paid ones. The catch is that I am located in Costa Rica - could someone comfirm that paid apps are only available in North America/Europe. If ALL (free and paid) apps are available everywhere then I have to figure out my problem, if not, I will just buy apps like crazy when I am back in the states (unless someone knows a work-around). Thanks.
I just tried the same thing and now my market app doesn't work. Any suggestions. Thanks
Just fixed it

Titanium backup in use?
i need to ask everyone with this issue, is everyone having this issue using titanium backup, and only seems to have problems after pulling from titanium's backup?
ill give my reasoning for this question...if you are having an issue, with certain apps just vanishing from the market on your phone.... even if you know its installed....
have a look at the list of questionable apps in TB, is there a yellow ball, with NO "M" overlaying it.... this may be the issue... you may have to delete all backup s for said app that DO NOT have a "M" ...wipe that apps data (in TB) and trying to restore from a backup that DOES have the "M"
please check this out, and let me know if i figured this out right... i have spent way too long pulling my hair out over this...and it seems like this was a fix for me...so far... ill edit in a few days if it all holds out
additional, if you are getting an "app incompatible" in the market... and have changed your LCD density , you will have to change it back to its default (240 for the DX) the new market seems to check for that.. and must label the device as unusable with the app, even if you KNOW its working just fine... i hope the market gets fixed to tolerate this...but im sure its part of the NEW market compatibility check
Hi Migamix,
If you have backups that don't contain a Market link, no need to delete them because they won't interfere - as long as you restore the one that has the link, of course.
When batch restoring it's a bit different, the latest backup for the chosen platform is picked, so you have to ensure that that one has a Market link.
But in any case, if you have the PRO version you can long-click and force attach it to to Market afterwards.

the force to market did not work for me, at all...many times, many tries.. some days im on a rom flashing fest...and some of those times ive done a batch restore and had only 20 apps in my market list.. its odd but it seems the only time it worked for me was after having the market attached "M" notification on all the files i wanted...i looked at this issue after letting the market auto restore post rom install, and manually pushed a few more that were causing problems...but i saw how 80% of the apps i restored (data only) refused to keep a link to the market... poked around.... uninstalled a problem app... noticed one of my older backups had an "M" while the rest didn't...so, i used that backup, and moments later that app was available in the market, and had an update... so i went and did it with a few more.... all those apps i managed to get installed in this fashion...still after 3 days, have not dropped their market links...where as...sometimes after a force market linking...would only last an hour if at all
i wanted to post this because i saw how many others were having the exact issue...i wanted to see if there is something in the way TB communicates with the data of the market ...causing market link confusion...
it seems like there needs to be a little more work with the market tools in TB....
ps, there also a setting i messed with that changed the way TB was getting market links... i think it was turning off accurate market check...
hopefully this post doesn't require too much re-reading....im a bit of a bad multitask'r sometimes
Hey guys,
Forgive me if this question has been covered, I did plenty of searching without finding what I was after.
I have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
My question is, how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.
For reference, I'm using a SGS - DocRom V9.6 with Speedmod Kernel k13a
Thanks.
Hey Guys,
So no body knows how to delete the link between app and Android Market so that the Market no longer knows it's installed?
Or am I best copying the app somehow, uninstalling it and then side-loading it?
Thanks.
Using Titanium Backup (Pro) long click/press on the app you want to 'disconnect' from the market.
Then select Detach from Market
I added (Pro) because I'm not sure if it works on the standard version or not..which I'd highly recommend getting the pro version if you don't already have it.
Awesome thanks for the tip, I didin't know there was an extended menu if I long-pressed an app in Ti Backup.
Though once I long-press, 'Disconnect' is greyed out. And in fact, all my apps have this greyed out (And I do have pro), yet they all show in Android Market?
'Force Attach to Market' doesn't seem to do anything either.
Weird, I'm able to Detach the market link of both /data and /system apps - some of which I do and do not have backups of.
I'm not sure if this will really do anything, but you can always try using the "market doctor" to find missing market links, then see if you're able to remove the link that it finds. But to be honest, I'm not really sure that will do the trick nor do I have any clue why that option isn't available to you
Only other thing I can think of is to clear the market's cache/data:
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Market
click force stop then clear data & clear cache
If they're both blanked out, just use TiBackup to wipe the market data.
After all that, see if you're able to Detach the Market Links
Hope this works

Thanks for the help.
Looks like clearing the data from the Market app (as you described) has allowed me to detach my apps from the Market through Ti Backup now.
That's not how I managed to do it though. I did it a far more complicated way!
I made sure I had a backup of the app, then uninstalled it.
I then browsed to the Titanium Backup backup folder on the internal SD card, and found the *.properties file of the app in question.
Long press on it and opened it in Text Editor.
I then deleted out every line that started with 'market.'
I then saved it, and Ti Backup automatically creates a backup of the original file.
Then I restored the app.
But to get this process to work, I also had to clear the Market app data (as per your tip).
Did I mention complicated!

Not sure I'll get a reply on an over a year old thread but worth a try. I tried this method but didn't work for me. When restoring the app did you restore data also? Thanks.
I'm still here!
The app I was trying to disconnect from the market I don't think had any real data to restore, so I don't think I was restoring data as well, no.
I'd say both the Market (now Play Store) and Ti Backup have changed a fair bit since this post. Ti Backup does have the ability to detach apps from the Play Store, if you find it in the app list and long press it will show the option. Some apps I think won't detach, and it could be because they're linked to your google/gmail account (for certain permissions or whatever). If they remain linked to that account, then I guess the Play Store still thinks it's installed on the phone (because it is).
Sorry I couldn't be of any more help!

Thanks for the reply. The app I wanted to break from the market is Business Calendar Pro that I bought a while back. The new updates don't work with the ROM on my phone so I wanted to stop the updates. I have MyBackup Pro and it has an option to break the market link but doesn't work. I haven't bought Ti Backup but use the free version. I don't want to buy it just to find that it won't work. I don't think Biz Cal uses google data but it does us the built in calendar's data so that might be why I can't break the link. Oh well. I'll keep trying different options. Thanks again.
Hi, not sure if this will do the trick but you could try extracting the APK for the app (not sure if TiB can do it or this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extract.apk) And then uninstall the market version and side-load the extracted version. I have a feeling it may not work as sometimes when I've side-loaded beta versions the released version has shown up in the Play Store as installed. When I try and uninstall it from there, the Play app tells me the app wasn't installed from Play and gets me to confirm uninstall.
I guess that's the long way of saying that the Play Store app must be using some mechanism to detect apps installed on the phone, even if not from the store.
Thanks again but the market seems to keep the data linked somehow. I'll keep trying different scenarios I guess...
did you find any method that work?
Honestly I haven't had time to mess around with it this weekend, but I'll keep up on the research and post here if I find something out. Thanks

found a fix
Hey. So I was looking around some more and found an app called "market fixer" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kstudio.marketfixer&hl=en
It seems to scan apps that aren't linked to the market. The other thing it does, if you "scan all links", is give you all your market links which you can then select and "delete market link"
I check and it works. Also some reported it stops working on reboot, but mine worked fine. The app does warn that it will need to be reapplied if market data is cleared. Just wanted to update you and hopefully help anyone else with these troubles
Hi. I just gave this ago and worked very well. Thanks for finding that out and sharing.

Hello everyone!
I first reported it here, I've come to realize that this issue affects users of various roms, so I thought I'd ask here.
When going into the market, "my apps" list is empty, since yesterday.
The things I've tried include:
restarting
ticking and unticking "unknown sources"
cleaning market cache and data
upgrading and downgrading the market app
installing free and paid apps
removing and reinstalling the market itself
freezing and unfreezing the market using TB
running "market doctor" from TB
uninstalling non-market apps
I googled and searched this forum quite a bit, but there seems to be no recent feedback on such an issue, and the suggested methods don't work.
Demonstration image attached, courtesy of marvi0. This is from the latest market app. When using 3.1.5 or earlier, the page is just blank.
This seems to be a cross-rom issue, as I am using HyperDroid-Androidmeda-v2.8.7 and users reported it happening with Criskelo's ROM and Pulser's ROM as well. So far, 5 reports were collected.
A strange behavior I've noticed is that following a restart, while the storages are being scanned, I was able to briefly access the list. After 2 seconds, it refreshes into the blank again. Being not the only one with this issue, I'd deduct it's not device-specific.
I'd be glad to provide more details, and appreciate any input on this issue.
Check which gmail account the market is linked to, if you are using more than 1 account.

Had no doubt that a full wipe will solve this, but the trick is pinpointing the actual problem...
Currently I am uninstalling everything (all user apps) from my device using the batch option in TB. I'll keep you posted!
EDIT:
It obviously helped. Uninstalling everything, then redownloading almost anything I had on my device. Currently I am downloading, this will be followed by restoring the data using TB. I have a long evening ahead of me
I'll try to pinpoint the exact app/place the error takes place.
I have had exactly the same problem, and over the last two days have tried absolutely every possible solution. I have tried three different market versions, wiping cache, data, uninstalling apps, restoring previously working back ups, The closest I came to a fix was to delete all back ups in Titanium back up, then factory reset, wipe cache, and dalvik, in Cwm, then reboot and re sign into Google account installing all my apps through the now working market.
However on doing another back up in TB and checking the market again I have the same message in "my apps " applications and games owned by this account will appear here soon!,
They never do! I am currently running latest Cyanogen nightly with latest Siyah kernel, I have also tried with cyan kernel.
Searching around on Google this does appear to be a problem for many other android users, and I suspect the fault lies with Google, However any possible solutions would be appreciated, This has took over my life for two days!

I haven't tried that, will give it a whirl, the strange thing is that the market functions okay except for My apps being blank, Thanks for the suggestion.

I did. No go.
I eventually solved it by deleting everything I had, redownloading everything again and restoring the data manually. Wasted evening

I haven't done anything else finally but uninstalling some apps (I had over 300 and I have 210 now haha) and after that apps appear in "My apps" :O. Amazing!!! I don't understand anything at all.
Good luck, guys!

Had any apps that weren't installed from the market? E.g. manual APK installation, linked apps from Amazon Appstore, apps from alternative markets and such. Maybe it was triggered by a specific app...
Same problem, I think its related to the new market.

Yes I do have apps from other markets, but I have "fixed this" once by wiping all data,re signing into market, restoring market apps there, then restoring all remaining other apps through TB, at this point market and My apps was working okay, However on creating a new back up in TB this problem re occurred.
As a footnote updates can be found and performed via the market, using Appbrain. I am at the point I have tried all possible solutions and firmly believe the fault lies with Google.
my issue was slightly different. I have 72 apps installed but in Market only 30 of them where visible since yesterday and one app (Antutu) shown to be updated - but even the update for antutu was not possible. Therefore I uninstalled Antutu und installed it again and surprising in the Market are now all 72 apps visible again.
So it seems some apps which have to be updatet brake the Market and do not show the app list or just partially.

I uninstalled 92 apps: I can't write by hand all those apps here! hahaha. But I will answer your questions: I had (and I still have some) manual APKs installations, I haven't ever had any app from a different Market. I had Market apps too.
A guy in a spanish forum (http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?p=3098961 (I started that thread) told that it happens with no official ROMs for the device and/or different DPI. I mean: if you have an HTC Legend with Cyanogenmod 7 your phone will be identified as a Nexus (I think), but your Legend DPI is lower than the Nexus DPI. Google ban those devices in the Market. But it doesn't make sese since I haven't installed a different ROM or changing the DPI in my Samsung Galaxy S!!!!
I hope this helps.
PS: all the affected users should write to Google in order to open a ticket and force them to work on it, instead of claiming about it in forums as I did hahaha (but I wrote to Google too )
This is now widely reported for all Android devices, and has an open issue on the Android Market Forum. Google is "aware and working on it".
For those who got their list back, don't be surprised if it goes away again, and don't fight with it - it's not you, it's them
Your market web library should still list all your apps, and I'm using AppBrain to get update notifications until they get it figured out.
Seeing as how their we have so much excess free space on /system, but quite limited space on /data, I thought I'd make this addon, based off the traditional Google Apps .zip addon for CyanogenMod. It contains the latest of all the included apps, as of the 26th. Included are nearly all the major Google apps available from the market.
There is also an Apps Pack Plus, containing several popular apps (Astro, Dropbox etc), system utilties (ROM Toolkit, Titanium Backup), Apps that are important to keep after a factory reset (Where's My Droid), social media apps (Faceboook + Messenger, eBuddy), and other useful apps that I personally use.
All the apps included are free and available on the Market, if any developer wants them removed, I will do so.
You can flash each on its own, however its highly recommended you flash the Google Apps Standard .zip. The Apps Pack Plus is very optional, and you can delet any of the .apks in it without issue.
Thanks to: Google, the CyanogenMod team, the developers of the included apps, and also Schwinni over at MoDaCo whose expanded GApps for the Blade inspired me.

Whilst i appreciate the work you've put into this, i don't understand why it is necessary or even in the dev section
The google apps zip from cyanogen is more then enough, but maybe i'm being a d**k and this is needed for cm7

Its just to free space in /data.
All these apps are the latest versions, and thus, versions in /daa will be removed freeing data. Cyanogens version is quite outdated at this stage. If you dont want to use it thats fine, if you do you are free to remove things or to request changes. And yeah. Read the first post.
In the long run this will end up taking more space in /data/ than it would before, as updates are released for apps that could of been moved to sd card but can't now as original app is in /system/.

Just use system cleanup to move the updates to the system again, xda just posted an article about it!
nice pack
thanks for the zip i flashed it and took out a few apps with titanium and then used system cleanup to transfer data to system and it worked great on my xplay(r800i 2.3.4 locked bootloader and CWM)
thank you for the tips

No problem! just so you know you can actually just delte apps from the .zip before you install it in Recovery.
If anyone wants changes, just ask
Rebranded the larger package as Google Apps Plus, and added a smaller package called Google Apps Standard.
Theres been no app updates, mind, due to Christmas I guess.
Made Google Apps Standard the main package, AppsPackPlus is now an optional add-on. Last change to format, promise!
Also updated Google Books app to latest version.
Also, I was thinking of adding Google Reader to the GApps standard package, and maybe Chrome To Phone and Google Authenticator to one of the packages. Thoughts?
Chrome to phone is a big yes. Use that one everyday.. (though with firefox.. so you might change that to 'browser to phone' for advanced configuration. Works the same as default chrome to phone though..)
Goolge Reader would be a big nono.
How about pulse? - Best News Readers (or RSS in general.) - Pulse.me
WhatsApp? - Most used?
Twitter? - why not?
Rolle Youtube? - Download Youtube Videos!
the XDA App? - Obviously?!
Camera Mod? - Right button Shoot
Also i love the XingPlayer aswell as TinyShark (and it's downloader!).. but that's just my preference there.
Edith:
Big Question.
I've been using my System with gapps ( obviously ) for about 2 months now.
Is it safe to flash your files above them without errors?
Will do a nandroid nontheless, but curious

Thanks for those ideas. Yeah you can flash over it without issue.
Thanks for this. It's necessary in case you install a CM7 "KANG" build and the Google Market apps keep force-closing.

Any chance of doing a similar thing for the ICs gapps etc...
I would really like integrated ICS gapps to install into system and save space on /data.
So, I purchased a Nook 16 GB tablet with the hopes of rooting it, and that proved to be very simple. Lots of great instructions from really smart people and all that. I am confused, however, on what apps are available in the Google Play Store and what ones aren't. It was my understanding that, once rooted and flashed ( I flashed CM7 using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512373 ) I would be able to install apps from the store, and I can, but common apps like Kindle, Facebook, BofA, etc don't show up in searches and are unavailable for download. I have searched the forums and I can't find a good thread describing how that whole process works. Is it common for these apps to be unavailable or have I done something wrong? Do they need to be sideloaded, and if so, what's the point of having access to the Play Store? Any help or explanation is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

one of the many files the google play store uses to determine what types of apps a device can download and install is called build.prop
this file contains the properties of the device, such as device name, device model, kernel, os, etc...
you might have seen some threads regarding the modification of said file which has proved to work in some cases for getting certain apps to show up in the play store.
hope this answered your question...
I to recently got a nook tablet and flashed the same rom as you. The build .prop fix worked a little bit for me. I ended up trying to change the pixel density which was a big mistake. I had soft bricked my device and had to restore a stock b&n image. I finally settled with cm9 and am LOVING it except for a few bugs. On another note, I tried to install a baseball game from the play store only to be met with "sorry, your device is rooted. Please unroot and try again".

Ok, I thought this was it, but it appears it is more complicated than that. First, I did some digging here on the forums, and found this method that everybody seemed to have luck with. I followed it to the letter, but it didn't give me the access to apps in the store as it was supposed to. Next, I flashed the CM7 Beta that I I know I am able to access the full market with. I copied the build.prop file from that build to my SD card, flashed the ROM I want, and proceeded to replace the build.prop file with the one I put on my SD card. I went in, cleared the cache and data from the market app, rebooted and... nothing. Same restrictions as before. There must be something more to this than just the build.prop file that I am missing.

well i am running cm7 beta and apps like facebook twitter bank of america, etc show up just fine. its using the stock build.prop that comes with the beta as well...
so i am not too sure why your's doesn't work.
try flashing the cm7 beta but do the following:
wipe data, cache and dalvik caches before and after flashing the cm7 beta. that might be the reason why some apps don't show up. you might still have some residue data from your previous rom that wasn't wiped off...

Get superuser elite from google play. It has a way to hide root from apps that won't run on rooted devices, for example amazon video.
