Hello there users of xda,
After I installed saferoot I've notice that my google play stopped working via wifi connection but works on my 4g connection. No connection to google play via wifi, also while connected via wifi I've tried to download apps via google play on the computer. A notification pops up on my phone telling me the download failed. On the other hand if I am connected via 4g, google play on the s4 works just fine. I am a noob here.
I don't have much data to run on as I have already used half of it on pandora while going to work and returning from work (2gb data plan).
phone: Galaxy S4
Model: SCH i545 (if you can't tell already it's verizon)
Android Version: 4.3
Build: mk2
Root: Yes=saferoot + safestrap
Never mind, I've solved the problem. The problem occurred after I've uninstalled abp (adblockpro). When I installed adblockpro, my proxy setting was changed on my s4, all I had to do was change the proxy setting back to the default settings.

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post here so I apologize if this i s the wrong section. The problem is simple, I rooted my phone and installed a different firmware version which already had the market as a stock app (before I couldn't connect to the market). Now I can connect and browse but apps are stuck at starting "downloading". I searched on the forum, I contacted the android market guys but nothing seems to work.
Here's a list of all the things I've already done with no result whatsoever:
Sign in and out of Google Talk repeatedly to restore connection to google servers (google talk or gmail don't give me any problem)
Ensure there is enough space on device for the app to install
Reboot device
Confirm there is strong connectivity on device, and contact mobile service provider
Try download(s) using both WiFi and network (3G/4G) connections
Unmount and remount the SD card
Cleared Market, Download Manager and Google Services Framework cache and data
CheckedIunchecked/rechecked background data, auto-sync, date and time settings
installed oldmarket app and tried using market older version
installed 3.20 market version (I had 3.15)
factory reset and reinstalled the firmware (and went through all the steps again)
went to samsung center to see if there was something wrong with the device
Does anyone have any ideas about how to solve this? It's really frustrating and it's starting to get on my nerves quite a bit.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Im having the same problems. I've even updated to 3.1.6 and still same problems. Android market is slow and I have to try 20 times to go to my app list and do an update.
...anyone?
any ideas at all?
Have you tried to flash any other type of ROM as well as different Radio nor Kernel?
Meanwhile if you need to install an app, you could do it from your computer browser via market, while you find out a solution to solve this problem.
Normally what I do is simply clear the market and google frameworks cache and data, but seems like for you is not working.
At this point must be a radio issue or a ROM issue.
Same problem anyone got solution ?
Have u guys tried Market Enabler? Sometimes it works for me.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Same problem as well. after install the new android market the problem persist.

what does market enabler has to do with anything?
Same problem here. Any ideas?
i cant find anything usefull in google.
i tried installing to the new market, but the problem persisted.
after a hard reset, the market works for awhile, then the problem happen again.
updating to the latest market version does not help as well
Background: One month ago I rooted and flashed a custom ROM for the first time, I had no problem.
After flashing a few different ROMs, I noticed that my mobile data was acting weird. I could browse the internet and access most internet required apps, but I couldn't download from the play store, watch youtube videos, or get messages from whatsapp messenger.
Problem Today: I just flashed a ROM that I like but now I have NO mobile data at all. I have full bars and my notification bar shows H+ or 3G but data just doesn't work. In the Browser I get this error: "authentication via the proxy server was unsuccessful".
I restored a nandroid backup of stock Touchwiz and data was working again. So I just did a re-flash of the custom ROM and data still doesn't work!
Notes:
- Notification shows data is connected but I can't access the internet.
- Did a restore to stock and data works, re-flashed a custom ROM and data doesn't work.
- Airplane mode isn't on.
- There is no mobile data limit.
- There is nothing in APN settings, there also wasn't anything in stock Touchwiz (but data worked).
- I flashed different modems and they don't work.
- I have tried some APN apps in the play store but they don't work.
- I am on UltimaROM v7.1 // Siyah kernel 1.8.5 // Android 4.1.2
- Wi-fi works.
Please help.
I ended up fixing the problem. So for those of you who might have a similar issue: the problem was with my APN settings. I just had to properly configure it and disable the proxy.

Check your ROM's forum or your kernel's.Maybe it is a common bug and you only have to wait until they fix it.

I didnt see it my bad.
Hello xda-Developers, got a weird bug incoming (once again):
I am on NeatROM 5.9 (4.1.2 JellyBean) with Apolo Regular Kernel and just wanted to download AdFree via Dolphin Browser, but no matter what website I want to visit; it always tells me that I have got a connection error. After I downloaded AdFree via my PC and wanted to check the Host files, it got stuck there as it wouldn't do anything in the loading screen. Other apps like AdAway got the same error (not wanting to download host files), but apps like Google Play, Facebook, WhatsApp or others work fine. This problems no matter if I am connected with Wi-Fi or with Mobile Data.
My question is: How can I get back my internet connection?
EDIT: Found the problem, DroidWall was blocking these apps from connecting. Just activated then deactivated the firewall and everything worked out
I am on verizons network (Trying to use wifi) I own the Droid Bionic with firmware 4.1.2.
Well today I rooted, everything was working perfectly. However after 2-4 hours after rooting, my wifi went from connected to in range and my play store wouldnt connect at all, using wifi or data. I figured the root was messing it up so I did a factory reset to help get rid of it, root seems to be gone, but now I cant sign up/in the google play store. I get an error message saying, " Cant establish a reliable connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call customer care." I have no idea what this means and I am getting to annoyed, I got this phone yesterday 5/16 today is the 17th... My wifi bar is gray which means "in range"when it should be blue "connected" When I look at my wifi settings my internet says it is connected however. Any ideas at all???? Please help!! Also I did change date and time to moscow to try and use freedom for app purchases, I changed it back to automatic date, time, and timezone.

If your root is gone after a factory reset, then you weren't rooted correctly in the first place (edit: if your rooting process involved downloading SuperSU or the equivalent through the Play Store, then just sideload the apk since you can't get to the Play Store as the SU binary will still be installed and that combined with the re-installed app should establish root access again). A factory reset does not change your rooted status. As far as the Google Apps not working...it's most likely due to a modded hosts file. Either from an ad blocking program, or the Freedom Play Store patcher. Re-root and delete the hosts file in /system/etc and reboot.
I was rooted before I am not anymore says root checker. I used this method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256439
When I run the program to try and root again it says invalid IP address now. Idk what's going on with this phone now

Like I said, you just need to install the SuperSU app. The binary has to already still be in /system/bin or /system/xbin, whereever that one installs it. So once you install the companion app, it should recognize that the binary is installed and provide you with root access again.
Hello guys, what's up?
This is SO weird but here I am facing a problem in my Galaxy s2, and need your advice.
The whole thing is my Cellular data (Internet of Sim Card) is not working on Browsers(tried stock one+Firefox)+Google products and some other apps, but works on Clash of Clans and aptoide app store. And it works with EVERYTHING when I'm using it as a hotspot, like now I'm connected to my phone internet via wifi and there is literally no problem at all, I even have an android emulator running in background without any problems with Google Play and other stuff so it's basically a problem related to my phone.
Also WiFi itself works fine on phone, when I connect to my cousin wifi home connection, everything works like charm but when I switch back to mobile data....
I don't know what's going on... It suddenly happened on my phone and I didn't install any apps or change the system files.
Things I've done:
1- Wiped /data + /system and factory reset for like a billion time
2- Changed my rom with clean install (Even switched to older CM13 versions to make sure there is nothing wrong with my new roms)
3- Removed battery + tried all of the basic troubleshooting stuff
4- Checked the host file in /System/Etc and there was just: " 127.0.0.1 localhost "
Btw when I open the browser (CM13 stock one), this the exact error I'm getting:
ERR_CONNECTION_RESET
What should I do? :crying:
Oops. sorry I forgot to mention, everything works fine when I use VPN. Somehow VPN+Clash of Clans and Aptoide appstore all work but Play store and everything else aren't, seriously what's wrong?
I just removed the host file now and rebooted but it didn't solve the issue
I fixed it!!! Thread needs to be closed
@HutchGuy how did you fix it?
