My G tab doesn't go pass the boot animation.
When i do the Vol + plus power botton. It doesnt go into recovery mode.
I did Root the device and i was running
[ROM] VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1.
How i got here
Last night i was a little drunk and i decided to play with my G-tablet. In my drunkenness i uninstall Rom manger and did a factory reset on the device. I want it to take it back to stock so i can return it and preorder an asus transformer. I only have today to return the device any help will be wonderfull
Start Here:

Use Bekit's 1105 image (nvflash_gtablet_2010110500.zip) do a factory data wipe as soon as it boots up. That should get you back to stock.
Thanks i will look into it
I did the NVFlash but it won't get pass the boot animation. The good thing is that the boot animation is the stock one that came with the phone.

If your returning it, now you have the best excuse "it won't boot"
im having a similar problem. ive been stuck in a bootloop for days now. i managed to get it back to the "3 birds" but thats about as far as i can get.
it feels like im pretty close to getting this thing back up and running i just need to flash a new rom. the problem im having with this is i cant find the rom to flash. i put the rom on the sd card, but when i put it back in and boot up i cant find it anywhere in clockwork. (says no files found when trying to install zip from sd card.
So my question, is there a way to mount my device to the computer through clockworkmod so i can finaly flash a new rom.
or can anyone point me into the direction where i can find the files on the sd card
thanks in advance!
Lol I mean tablet.. omw to return the device..using the excuse that I updated the device and this happen. Can't wait till the 26th...Transformer FTW

Classic example why the G Tablet is getting a bad rep from the retail chains. If people would take the time to read the instructions that people have posted on these forums, all this could be prevented. If you don't understand them, ask a question. Nvflash is your friend when some thing goes wrong. Just saying.
jhreid1969 I agree 100% and was experiencing the same problem the user was above just a few weeks ago right after I bought my G Tab and began to play around with it. All one has to do is read the comments at the bottom of Roebeet's post on nvflash using bekit and they will find a post from Sprdtyf350 explaining that you must install and use clockwork mod to reformant after using nvflash and then it works fine !
Kartiel,
If you read the comments under Roebeet post for nvflash using bekit you will see a comment from a user named Sprdtyf350, he explains what you have to do using the clockwork mod to partion AFTER using nvflash !
What I did was install nvflash onto an external sd card then put it in my GTab and installed it. I then went throgh the process to format my sd card which if you are not familiar with can be found in the directions for installing clockwork mod.
After you format the card reboot and all should be well !
Yes... After nvflashing to get out of the loop you must clear cache and data and then in most cases repartition the device.

Yes on this particular issue I am. I have read on the forums about your problems Citi and you and others have gone in great depths trying to repair it. This person hardly tried and is going to blame the product for his mistake. My thoughts are you have a faulty unit and probably will not be repairable by flashing alone. This other person, probably used other conventional means to install ROMs which were not made to work with the G Tablet without maybe causing some serious problems, such as a ROM manager and didn't bother to learn how to do it safely by reading some facts first here on the furoms. If I have seen where he tried to get some help, or said he tried this and thar to repair it and not openly admitted to using a ROM manager, I would probably have a different oplnion about it.
My girlfriend's Rezound has a bizarre problem that started a couple days ago; a couple times a day it will randomly reboot into recovery. I was wondering if anyone has seen this happen, and knows of any fixes. Switched to Amon Ra 3.15 from Clockwork Touch.
Second, I'm looking for a stock, de-odexed, rooted GB ROM to flash. She basically wants all the same functionality of stock(including Sense), but I want the ability to install certain mods(power menu, additional settings, etc.). What are your suggestions? She's running rooted, odexed, bone-stock 1.02.605.6. Need to know what's going to be most stable/compatible as I also see a 2.01.605.11 version but have no idea if it's official or a leak.
Sounds like It's trying to install the first ota but keeps failing due to not having the stock recovery

Not sure if it's de-odexed but it's the latest GB stock OTA with root - http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=76
Thank Scott for hosting it.
I don't think the stock roms are deodexed but I'm pretty sure Cleanrom 1.7.5 is. It is a cleaned up version of the stock gingerbread rom and is very stable. I used it as my daily driver until I moved to the newer ICS roms. Hope this helps.
p.s. many people seem to be having problems with clockwork so are using amon ra recovery.
+1 on getting rid of CWM. Was causing all kinds of grief for me. Just flashed Amon Ra over it, no problems since then.
Thanks for the responses. I switched to Amon Ra around 2330 last night. At 0045 the phone rebooted into recovery. So I'm thinking it's either the ROM trying to do an OTA update, or a problem with the phone itself. Cleanrom looks nice, but is it Sense or Desense? She loves that stupid weather lockscreen and background(although can't blame her, it's dang purdy) and likes most of what sense has to offer. Tonight I'll switch to the official OTA and boot.img when I'm home and no longer sober. (Because really, who actually does this stuff sober?!)
I on the other hand enjoy the minimal approach of ICS on my Nexus Prime.

From experience, I don't recommend drunk flashing lol.
This is what I would suggest:
1. Relock the device
2. Run the official OTA 2.xx RUU via your computer. This will guarantee the cleanest possible install of the rom and firmware.
3. Re-Unlock (you can use the same token file)
4. Install AmonRa again
5. Then install the newest cleanrom GBE. It is gingerbread, newest OS version, Sense, clean, stable, fast, has advanced power menu and such.
The RUU I talked about can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22045045&postcount=58
I wouldn't recommend rooting or tinkering with your girlfriends device. If you have a problem, no big deal... fix it. If she has a problem it is a big deal, because its your fault.
what's the easiest way to flash amon-ra over cwm? .. I have the zip on my computer and I'm guessing I just put amon-ra on SD? (then i dont know)

You don't flash in recovery. Take the Recovery.IMG and put it in your fastboot folder and when you have your phone connected in fastbootusb pull up your command prompt. Change directory to the folder containing fastboot and the amon ra recovery image and type fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.15-gnm.img then reboot !
obviously if its zipped unzip and just use the .img, but I really think when you download the zip it is not really zipped it is in .img format already.
Okay, I did those things.. now it says < waiting for device > .. how long does this take or have i done something wrong?

If it says waiting for device I don't think you have the HTC drivers installed or your phone isn't in fastboot. It should say fastbootusb in white letters and red background.
Remember your phone needs to be in bootloader then select fastboot.

It sounds like the advice in the previous post should solve the problem. If not try using CleanFlash. It is a tool developed by the developer of CleanRom that I've used several times when I was too lazy or was having some kind of problem pushing an image. You can search for it here on XDA or find it on Scott's website (scottsroms.com).
I have clockwork recovery installed.
my question is
is there *anything special* i need to do to go from this to the new ICS or JB Roms??
thanks in advance!
Yes. Make sure you flash Gingerbread bootloader. There is an easy to follow guide available. Search for Vibrant Custom GB Bootloader on Google and it should take you directly to the thread here.
It's a simple guide to follow, just follow it carefully. *a misstep can hard brick you*
After you have that you can find a suitable 4.0.4 ICS to flash. Just follow the directions in the OP and you should be fine.
Or, you could flash a JB ROM. In that case I would recommend (because I had to) flash cm9 nightly FIRST, then go to JB from there. Would probably make your life easier
As my buddy Woodrube says: read, read, read. When you've read enough, read more.
I still sit back and read about an hours worth of old solved threads and new ones alike on an everyday basis.
Note: if you for choose an ICS ROM, please read the threads titled EU bug, and Encryption Unsuccessful. It may not ever affect you, but you should become familiar with it.
You don't need to flash Gingerbread bootloaders.

You know, everyone always says to go to CM7 then CM10.
I ODIN'ed back to stock today, no idea why, I got bored. xD
Note: Skip steps 1, 3, 4 if you already have a custom recovery, which you do, you're running Bionix and don't want to ODIN back to stock for a complete clean install.
These are the steps I use to go to CM10 coming from stock:
1. ODIN to stock, wipe everything, you know.. clean install.
2. Download all the zips you need. (CM10, JB GAPPS, CM10 FFC support zip, update.zip that has clockworkmod recovery.) and put them on your phone.
3. Reboot into recovery, install 'update.zip' it'll reboot, do it again.
4. It should boot into CWM now, the old version.
5. Flash CM10, it should reboot or get stuck.
6. Boot into recovery (Should be new recovery from now on.), wipe data/factory reset.
7. Boot into recovery, flash twice before rebooting.
8. Reboot system and wait for it to boot up, if it doesn't boot up, flash again.
9. Once it boots, flash GAAPS.
10. Flash CM10 FFC support.
Enjoy?

No you don't need GBbl's anymore. Lets just say they are not "required" anymore, but are still "recommended".

so i need to install CM7 before installing these roms(ICS)? (the guide says skip to the CM7 part). is CM7 required??
if so, how to go about installing the CM7 in place of the Froyo bionix build??
and is there a custom CWR for ICS roms that I need to install?
sorry for the dumb questions. ive been knee deep in my sgs4g and havent kept up with vibrant...
You do not need to flash CM7, people just say it's safer. (Not sure on that one.)
Follow the steps I gave up and skip the ones that I said to, you should be just fine.

Just trying to be thorough here. On step 7 it says "7. Boot into recovery, flash twice before rebooting." What exactly should I be flashing 2x here? Never mind I figured it out
The ROM, but you figured it out.
I suggest you just flash CM7 because it doesn't take that long and you get some practice before going onto another ROM.

I had already flashed 2 other ROMs before going to CM10, 1 successful on not so successful. This time it went flawlessly. Im loving CM10 so far. I see why this is so addicting now haha
Now you guys see what I mean about steps before leaps?
If you have a bad flash on 2.2 or 2.3.x, they are fairly easy to recover from and start over. Sometimes a bad flash on ICS can cause irreparable damage, al'a EU bug. I've also seen motherboards borked, USB/PC unconnectivity and the worst of all a bootloader bad flash, hardbrick.
But yes, I as well as almost everyone here will agree, it is very addicting.
Hi,
Another Noob bricked his phone here SGS2 UK i9100.
I spent hours and hours reading all the FAQ's, various How To's but obviously not well enough although thought I had.
Im normally quite competent at things like this, dating back to early days chipping playstation 1's etc, done all sorts over the years without a hiccup. Had to fail sometime!
After the failed attempt, I suspect I may have flashed a custom ROM not compatible with the stock Kernel????
I rooted my i9100 using Chainfire's method:
[30.10.2012][CF-Root 5.6] K**,LA*,LP-126BHJQ73SC89DEFWGKIQOTUXY,LQ-5B - su+bb+CWM4/5
All went fine, root access, SU etc..
I then tried installing a custom ROM:
[ROM][4.2.1]Slim Bean - I9100 [Beta 2]
Followed the relevant instructions:
■Download software
■Enter CWM, wipe data, format system ( in mounts and storage)
■Flash Slim-GT-I9100-4.2.1.Beta.2-OFFICIAL then flash Slim_Gapps
All seemed to go fine, after flashing each of the above phone reported succesfu in CWM.
Anyway, rebooted as per instructions, phone shut down never to power up again!
Cant access download or recovery mode, nothing. Totally dead.
Ive ordered a USB Jig but doubt this will do anything at all?
Can someone please confirm what I did wrong (Should I have flashed Kernel 1st?)
Thanks.

What ROM were you on?
Please don't say 4.0.4.....
You should have done a nandroid backup after rooting. That would have given you something to fall back on.
Try removing battery for at least 10 mins. Refit. Plug in to wall charger. Give it an hour or so to see if it wakes up. If not then wait for the jig to arrive.
How much battery did you have when you flashed slim? Also, I wouldn't have formatted system. Always had issues with that.

YES, I was on 4.0.4
I did do a nandroid backup after rooting.
After trying to install another ROM prior to SlimBean, which kept hanging at the Samsung logo, I managed to restore from the nandroid backup fine, but after this one failing I cant enter recovery or download mode to recover, the phone is just dead! :crying:
If you wiped with a 4.0.4 kernel it's sayonara. Service centre for MB replacement. Fair chance they won't be able to tell you borked it & you'll get it done under warranty (assuming your warranty is still valid to begin with).

Well out of warranty unfortunatley, I had this phone since s2 release day.
Unfortunatley to make matters worse, this is the missus' phone now since I got my s3 so I am really in trouble!!!!!!
How much am I looking for a MB replacement at Service Centre in UK?
Would this be something I could do myself buying a spare/repair phone off ebay with broken screen or something?
Thanks again for help.
I also have one i9100 it was GB out of box.
1. I updated with kies to 4.0.4 or 4.0.3 im not 100% sure was some time ago.
2. I flashed with odin leaked 4.1.2 jb.

haha, time to practice "I dunno, I've just accepted an update when I was on wifi and all of a sudden, it went off, couldn't turn it on, crazy" rutine.
So here I am again, after a while.
Have changed like hundred of ROMs about year ago on Galaxy S III and Galaxy S II, it was still time when newest android version was 4.1.2 i think.
So now i have a problem, big one. I bought Galaxy S II again, and wanted to flash new rom, because version that i had was 4.1.2.
It was horrible, i effd up my phone big time and flashed stock rom trough Odin, now its 4.0.3. It's old like my granny, but it's very fast. I'm spending like only 38% of my RAM.
But still i wanted to change ROM, and put on the new 4.4.2, but only that kind which don't takes more than 50% of ram.
Adding Screenie, so you can check out what kernel am I using.

I Have tried to flash any of the ROMs trough CMW recovery with the kernel i have now, but still i got Failed to install update. Some kind of e:emmc (Status 7 error), i tried to fix it, fixed. But now I had Status 6 error. It seems that i can't open the update (ROM).
So i'm asking for help. Maybe some1, could give me the right ROM, right KERNEL and RECOVERY. and step-by-step guide to avoid those errors and fails.
I'm sorry if i'm posting new thread, but i can't really find and answer to my question and problem. I would be greatful if someone could just help me and guide trough this problem, if not here, then maybe in PM.

You don't need a step to step guide. Just flash a kitkat compatible CWM (search for it), before flashing a kitkat rom. Everything else goes the same.

Hi
As long as your phone is rooted and have custom cwm
You can flash this kernel
Then dont reboot the system
Reboot to recovery
Full wipe
Flash kk rom zip
Flash gapps

Thankyou very much both of you. Seems to me i just had old CMW. I installed new one, and sucessfully flashed rom and gapps.
The problem now is that file transfering, deleting and folder opening when connected USB is really slow or folders won't even open. So i really can't transfer any files from my PC.
Thanks.

Make sure the screen is on and the phone is unlocked and try a different usb transferring modus.
cwm 6.0.4.5 can't open kitkat rom
Hi,
classic intro i guess, i'm new to the forum, was going to open a new thread, when in fact this one seems perfect. Still, if i shouldn't be doing it, i apologies in advance, please let me know....
Now,
as i said the original topic replicates almost exactly the issue i'm facing.
i have Galaxy S2 i9001, i had rooted it, then tried to flash a rom, failed that, found a guide which got me to have rooted stock (i assume it is a stock rom) version 4.0.3, similar kernel version listed in the original post (i hope is ok to list below the file names? this is the file i used to get there: I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXALPQ_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar.md5)
I flashed CWM version 6.0.4.5, which, reading from this thread, should be compatible with KK roms.
i didn't manage to install the newer version listed in that thread as inside the zip there is no .tar file for odin to read, so not sure how i would do that. same for the other "philz" file listed. i'm a noob after all....
So, with CWM 6.0.4.5 on, i downloaded into external SD card a few different ROMs
pa_i9100-4.3-BETA6-20140523.zip
aokp_i9100_kitkat_unofficial_2014-04-14.zip
Resurrection_Remix_KK_v5.1.1-20140507-i9100.zip
rebooter into recovery, followed the wipes listed in the ROMs threads then tried to "install zip" and for each file i get the same messages:
Installing: /PATH
Finding update package
Opening update package
Can't open /PATH
i hope someone could help me understand what it is that i'm doing wrong?
any help would be really appreciated, please!!:fingers-crossed:
