There have been a recent update, now if the other person doesn't have you on his phonebook you won't be able to see his profile picture.

I really need your help.. I know this is the best forum to get help about Android.
I want to disable the sync with Facebook and Gmail.. I hate it!
I dont see the people from my Facebook and Gmail in my contacts list but when I want to send a new message it shows me hundreds of people that I dont want to see! I want to see only the contacs from my Phone/SIM Card..
And I just notice a new problem right now.. When someone calls me and I answer the phone it automatic turns speaker on.. Why?
If it matters I'm using Lite'ning Rom 6.1

I cant disable them.. I cant disable the Gmail sync because other apps are using this account ()
And I cant disable the Facebook sync because the only way to do it is to log out of the Facebook..

Go to Gmail and turn off the new mail notification, then go to Facebook and do the same

I already did it before.. This is not the problem..
I ve got it via "Titantium Backup Pro" ... there is a point of google syncs ... freezed it ^^
(only for rooted)

I m facing problems in syncing fb contacts with the exisiting contacts.
I have tried it using facebook in Xperia and other facebook accout..
bt it does not show profile pics..??
den i hav tried using FriendCaster for higher resolution profile pic. but it does not update newly changed profile pics.
my auto-sync is on.
Please help...

Try SyncMyPix. And after ICS come to us, use HaxSync...

Try logging out of your FB account and logging back in. It worked for me.

Yeah, I did this. Worked. But do we have to do the same before every sync. Bcaz when it sync automatically, it does not update the latest pics.??????

Just log in Facebook itself via a PC goto account settings and choose from the left pane reports.
Check in the middle all reports and scroll down to other applications.
Check here if Xperia is selected

Yes this works, thanks. But question is...then why keep the Xperia Facebook sync? Looks like the main sync is with the original fb app...
I remember from earlier Galaxy phones that I could sync my contacts photo with the photo they had on Facebook. Did they remove the feature on the S III?

No the feature is still there ...u just need to manually link a few which are not automatically detected... Just click on a contact and link with Facebook account.. And then on Facebook tab click on the pic and select option use this picture for contact
It's annoying they dont have the 'get friends' option from the GS1 so i can select individual facebook contacts to add to my phone.
Rather than either syncing them all and deleting the ones i dont want or syncing with existing and it not matching some of them.
you can manually choose which friends you want to display in the contacts' settings...

Yeah but then it says something like 'custom view' at the top which i dont like (i'm VERY fussy)

I can't say that's possible. I can't find it at least, and I've tried a couple of times.
Hey,i worked a bit on my phone marging the numbers to the right facebook profile so ill be able to see my contacts with their facebook profile picture.
The question is how do i save it all?i mean,i once did it then when i switched ROM and loaded the gmail contacts they loaded but without all the pictures.
Any solutions to save it so when ill wipe / change ROM the facebook profile picture will remain?
I'm using the "SyncMyPics" app.
This will sync all pictures of Facebook with ur contacts (lokal/google) without having synchronize with Facebook app etc.
So this means after sync of pics, u can sync to Gmail and all is fine also after a restore because pics will be saved, too
Hope u understand what I wrote

yes i see,but in my case there are names in hebrew and on facebook they appear in english so the software doesnt recognize them..this application can sync the pictures that already exist (because i marged each contact with facebook) to gmail account?

its a great software and working well,the facebook picture will remain in google's contacts and theres an option to update the pictures of the profle(in case the person changed the picture and you have the old one)

Oh ok...
No the software only load the pics from the profile of each person and set this to local profile in contacts. This profile will be sync to Google (Without the software)
And u Facebook contact only sync with facebook so no direct contact from pics to local profile (bad explained )
Hmm...
No idea atm, but that was the reason why I used the software.
PS: Only option I see is to download all Facebook pictures and set them as profile picture on ur phone contacts

afair in Samsung contacts app there should be menu item like "contacts to display" where you should be able to set your own customized list
