Hi,
I have a galaxy s2 and I wanted to ask how is ti possible to answer the following questions for my phone:
does it run a custom kernel?
does it have flashed mod?
does it have modified system files?
Thanks,
Steve
Your English stinks lol.
Do you mean "can" it.......
If not, then you are the one with the phone and have not disclosed any information about it.

It depends on the device. I'm guessing your device is a Samsung device since you mentioned ODIN. What device (model) are you using?

You could still follow section D, but you will need to flash the stock 2.1 rom first available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913 .

Of course i was once a noob but one who thought that following the instructions would be better than bricking a phone and looking like a **** .Even worse would be posting on a forum and asking how only to be told read the instructions .
Not that you are alone it seems to be the norm for many noobs.

But the instructions are in the very first post of the CM9 thread. I find it hard to believe nothing came up.
EDIT: I'm not trying to be a ****, and I don't think JJEgan was either; but it's a frustrating thing to see a bunch of posts asking questions that are already answered - many times in the very first post of the thread that contains the subject matter the person is asking about. If the thread was read thoroughly, then why is the question being asked?

READ! SEARCH! READ! SEARCH!
As the title states im looking to remove root info from my kernel version for warranty purposes, my phone shows -
2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468
[email protected] #2
I am not able to use usb for kies or S2 root but i can flash via ODIN and have flashed original rom/kernel to stock but the root info remains under kernel version , is there a way to remove?
Thanks in advance.
I'm sure I answered this very question yesterday ... oh, I did! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22163342#post22163342
That "root" just means that the user "root" compiled the kernel on the machine "DELL143", not that your phone is rooted.
Sorry, but this just has to be done
Ok thank you, i did search the forum but no result came up.
Just need to reset my flash counter and send it back then.
Thanks again

I'll match that, OP needs to watch this.
OP click the play button
Edit, good to see that you did search OP it's a common mistake to misinterpret the "root" and thinking you've got a rooted device.
Bam ! It's a verry niice

Root is not needed kernel is part of the firmware .
Flash a stock Samsung rom from Stock rom thread or from posted ICS roms in General via Odin .
Alternative wait for your phones upgrade via KIES or use Checkfus to download firmware .
Root is only required if you are flashing a custom firmware that requires CWM and Root and most do .
jje
After installing kies ,,, a frimware update show up ,,
now i think its better to update the frimeware throw kies right ??
and is it possible to install ics with kies ??? or i need to flash costume kernel with CWM recovery !!
thanks in advance
ok
personally I would look at Chainfire topic on easy rooting etc, or you could use SuperOneClickRoot & then install any number of custom roms from the I9100 android development section here at XDA

Ask your "mum" or your "little sister" to do it for you.
But they must remember how to unlock "your" phone.
You, sir, are full of it.

A factory reset that could have been avoided by doing the account recovery procedure provided in the other thread.... But whatever. Enjoy your new phone.

Here's another self-important precious who also thinks only nice things should be posted because it's his thread.
At least he hasn't posted a pack of lies all day.
You should learn how to concoct slightly more plausible lies - think of all the time you could have saved instead of frantically editing your other posts.
And when you're done, spelling lessons would be useful.
Then I'll behav. Shud I?

You didn't actually read that post at all, did you?
Chainfire said:

Most SGS2's and Note's have "bad" chips (its actually the firmware that's bad). This is only dangerous if your kernel is dangerous as well. Gingerbread kernels are usually OK, Samsung ICS kernels are usually (bad on Note, good on SGS2), custom ICS kernels: look in the kernel's thread. This is a simplification. See Entropy512's excellent post with some further details about which kernels are what.

And the app doesn't fix the bug. (as stated, again, in post 1) It just detects if the chip is of the "bad" batch, and the possibility of it affecting you or not.
