So while I had my HTC One, I converted it to the Google Play Edition for stock Android. I'm now trying to sell it after getting my Nexus 5, so I restored the CID to stock (CWS__001), removed the tampered heading, returned hboot to 1.44, locked the bootloader (while setting the heading to 'locked' instead of 'relocked'), and return the phone to S-ON. I installed RUU version 1.26.502.12 and it worked without a problem, so it's now COMPLETELY stock.
Problem is, I KNOW there are updates, since the phone is only on 4.1.2, but it refuses to see them when I run AT&T Software Update, and I'm trying to figure out why (also plugged in my SIM card again, to try to run the OTA).

Phone is currently on stock recovery. After putting everything back to completely stock (which required root and TWRP) I installed the RUU again, to put EVERYTHING back to stock, including the recovery.
Well, I don't know why it didn't see the update earlier, but I checked again this morning (had to roll the phone date a day forward to allow another check) and it successfully saw and downloaded. Looks like I was just being impatient...

My rezound would not so much as boot ics with a recovery flash. When I ran the leaked ruu, it booted but was very unstable I.e. unusable. Somebody, anybody who can help me I would be sooo appreciative. It's not a noon mistaking I'm making either. There's something wrong with the phone, and now I'm on gingerbread Rom with ice radio and hboot. I can't go back to full stock. Please help

Just a question.. if something is wrong with the phone , just return it ? What actually happens when you RUU. What version did you download off Android police ? Prerooted had lots of issues. Try another mirror and download possibly ? As you have probably read 100 times it needs to run twice to fully install the new firmware and software.

Ya I have read 100 times. I used the actual non-prerooted ruu and flashed twice. Repeated over and over and it wouldnt work correctly. As I can't return to stock properly because of new hboot, radio, and the big "tampered" on my bootloader, I am in no hurry to get a 600$ Bill for trying to return the device. I'm out of ideas except for letting the ota brick my phone and then returning it

You had to re-lock boot loader, then flash one of the stock ICS leaks (not the pre rooted version), then do all of the hboot updating and stuff. After that you should have stock with a relocked boot loader. Now, re-unlock boot loader, and flash Amon Ra. Then you can flash the pre rooted version or a ROM.

Again. I did not flash the pre rooted version. I did re-lock my bootloader, then flash the ruu twice. I did have stock ics, with a locked bootloader. It just rebooted and apps crashed. I tried it multiple times. This is my second device and my first one ran ics fine. I am 110% sure its not a noon mistake and I've overlooked no obvious step.

Hello everybody
The new ICS update for the ROGERS EVO 3D just came out yesterday, so I restored my phone to the original firmware (via restoring the backup I did in the recovery) and then proceeded to download the OTA update. After it finished, the phone rebooted into the recovery (i have 4-ext touch recovery) and started installing. After it finished, the phone rebooted and then got stuck on the white HTC screen. I managed to enter the recovery again and restore the original firmware again. What is that I'm doing wrong here? Here is some helpful info:
Rogers EVO 3D, GSM version
Unlocked bootloader (HTCDEV method), S-ON
carrier unlocked
HBOOT 1.49.0008
OS is rooted
I'm in the same boat but I'm not able to do a recovery. I went through the update process and when the phone rebooted it got stuck on the white htc screen. I can get it into the bootloader menu but when i choose recovery it starts but then i get an error with a pic of the device and the red yield sign. If i choose factory reset it just gets stuck at the white htc. I read some other posts and I saw that having an unlocked bootloader may cause issues with updates so that may be your issue as for me, I'm not sure what I can do. I may just need the actual update file to redo the update but I'm not sure where to find it.
Same here, but I don't get half way through the ota update before I see the red triangle and exclamation mark. Phone will boot into stock recovery (which I would assume you need instead of modded recovery) and the update starts, but doesn't complete. I pull the battery and the phone boots up normally. Just can't seem to get through the update. Could be something to do with being s-off I would guess.

Same problem but whit s-off
I have been predicting that this would happen... ICS failures with non-standard HBOOTs. Good luck.
Probably will have to wait for an RUU or custom.
I'd recommend using the GB ruu to get you back to full stock. Always found Rogers ota updates (possibly all carriers?) won't install if you're rooted or using a custom recovery.
I had to install the ruu via renaming the rom.zip to PG86IMG.zip and copying it to the sd card so that the bootloader would auto flash it. Running the ruu exe tossed up all kinds of errors.
It will put everything back to Rogers stock. After that just setup wifi and do the 2 Rogers OTA updates.
Once in ICS, it's easy peasy to get recovery and root back.
Also, for what it's worth, Go Backup is awesome for going rom to rom and not needing a full backup. Use it on rooted rom, then use it to restore after rooting new rom. Will do all your apk's and everything.
1st post here after years of lurking. Yay.

Alright thanks a lot
Just an update on what I did. I was able to reload the stock gb rom for rogers using the exe file, then I went through the 2 updates that came up when checking and ics is now up and running on my phone. However in my attempts of trying to fix the original problem, I managed to re-lock my bootloader before flashing to stock rom and I had s-on the whole time. hope this help.
i switched to stock like.. a week back?
jus got ota on 4th
i WAS rooted and using juopunutbear's hboot *u can jus get the hboot from their website*
so i jus flashed back stock recovery.. and updated.. and success.. lost root though.. and i was back to stock bootloader..
used the PG86IMG with juopunutbear's bootloader and 4ext recovery.. and flashed cwm supersu.. v0.91 i think.. i dunno.. latest one.. and bam.. im on stock.. rooted.. and works perfectly..
Possible sollution
Maybe try flashing one of the customized ROMs that are based on the latest OTA update. I'm sure Anryl's newest rom is blazing-fast and stable. You can find it in the gsm android development forum and flash it via recovery. Make sure you have the latest 4ext recovery installed, though.
where can a i find that stock rogers rom i modified mine and that might be the reason i get a security failure in hboot. s is on. when i run the ruu file in windows to downgrade i get error 155. when i run the the update from about phone. it locks up with blue android guy and yellow exclamation mark. i remove the battery and she boots fine with no changes.
I am trying to do same. Get stuck on HTC screen. I have S-ON. Was on cobra 2.4 prior.
If anyone can give details on how to fix it, it would be great! Please no saying "install exe". I need to know which exe etc.
just wanted to tell everyone that in order for the ota update to work properly, you need to be running stock unrooted firmware with a locked bootloader. Just relock your bootloader, reinstall the stock firmware, upgrade to ics via ota, then re-unlock and re-root.
Hi
I have a HTC EVO 3D from Rogers that was got messed up during changing networks... rooted the phone for no apparent reason... to now get a update for it for ics from the provider and it bricked the phone.
It's stuck at HTC boot screen, can get fastboot USB from bootloader. recovery gets a ! in a triangle and factory reset doesn't work, freezes at splash screen after restarting the phone. Was stupid not making a backup or searching for programs to back it up before I went ahead and clicked update
It has HTC boot-loader 1.49 s-on but is rooted.
I am looking for clear(fix my evo for dummies) step by step instructions with correct installation for my model of phone, HTC EVO 3D Rogers GSM, or anything that could replace the os to get my phone to be useful again I'm currently using my backup phone a HTC G1 HTC ftw
Try kingcobra's rom, ota from rogers will not boot due to the fact that your phone is rooted, kingcobra's rom is based on rogers ota, flash it and leave it.

Go to the gsm development forum and download the RUU for the phone, and restore it to stock unrooted OS. Before you do that though, make sure that your phone's BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED. Look up how to re-lock your bootloader. After you relock your bootloader, you can proceed with restoring the phone.
Soooo.... basically, what I'm getting from this is, if you like having a locked bootloader, CWM and root, don't bother trying to install this OTA update because it's a headache. Agree?
The phone's not mine, it's my wife's, and she doesn't want anything special or like the idea of me messing around in her phone.
I was about to install this late last night, just about to hit that button, then I thought, "what about the bootloader? what about root? what about the fact that it's now unlocked and being used on a carrier other than Rogers?"
I received a replacement Rezound today and have messed it up beyond my repair. When I powered the new phone on it was on the old GB software. I manually searched for an update which was finally found. I downloaded the update and went through the process of installing it. About half way through the update, a red triangle with an exclamation point appeard. I tried this process twice and then decided to run the RUU that I had installed on my sd card from my prior phone. The RUU was the most recent ICS.
At this point I was not S-off or rooted, but completly stock. The RUU did not fully run but it did update my HBOOT and Radio's. When I boot the phone, it is still on GB software. I have some how changed my bootloader to show Tampered as well.
I was able to flash a zip file of AmonRa 3.15 and was able to flash ViperRom 1.03. I thought this would correct the problems and allow me to S-Off but it did not.
I thought that if I could S-off I could maybe get this all straight. But I am not sure.
At this point, I have a phone that reboots after a few short minutes.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

If it tanked doing the OTA ICS update right out of the box, I'd call VZW for another phone...
Thank you for the reply, but my hboot now says tampered and relocked. I do not think I could send the phone back in this condition and get a new one.
Anyone else have any ideas?
Un-lock using HTC unlock then s-off your phone using some wire tied to a couple thumb tacks. Run latest ruu again, then install recovery, then flash Rom.

Why on earth do you hate WebOS?!?
I wasted a lot of life thinking it was the greatest....... Lies! Lies! Do you have any idea how lucky android users are to have on device recovery? When ya boot loop a webos phone ya need to hook up to a computer no matter what ya did wrong. Now I just restore a nandroid....I was so happy when I upgraded to a pre 2.... Now I just feel dumb for staying with webos for so long

In case anyone else has this problem, I was able to re-lock and flash the RUU through adb to get everything corrected. I'm now rooted, S-off, and running inef 1.2!
So my phone doesn't send anything but static from the microphone...It needs to be a warranty exchange. My problem is that I am S off and 1.54. Any way to get it back to a state that I can turn it in for a warranty exchange?
Since your S-Off find the stock T-Mobile ROM floating around and flash it. Then find the T-Mobile firmware that's floating around the forum. Flash it.
Then use the RUU downgrader to get back to the T-Mobile .8 build on Rootz and flash that. Use revone to do a ./revone -l and your done.
Don't go S-On.. there is no need. Rarely S-On devices come from the factory so they won't kill you for it. Also remember that Revone only works on the .8 build so you need to be on that one. Your boot loader should show Locked..
This method works 100%.. I'm on my 4th refurb.. I have done this on each device lol

I thought I understood this. Guess I am an idiot. Here's what I do. When I install stock T-Mo there is no touchscreen. I can still plug the phone in, drag in the radio zip and restart the phone bringing it into TouchWin Recovery. WHne I try to install the radio it doesn't exist. I have tried placing the file on the root of the storage and then in a sub folder...No go.
I'm a little worried about going further if I don't have a working set up in the first place.

Install the T-Mobile firmware, they updated the touch screen firmware on the international and it causes issues some times.
Regarding your storage issue, that happens when you go from newer versions of android to 4.1.2.
After you install the firmware flash the RUU it should take care of your storage problem. And then revone -l like he said

Just to let you know
I got my phone working by going back to stock firmware. Crazy...
Hey ppl,
A while back I got a software update notice, so select the OTA and let it run. It failed to update my OS, so I relocked the bootloader thinking that may be the issue, and tried to update again. Now, every time the phone reboots it boots into the bootloader screen.
This issue is causing me to not be able to reboot into recovery, so I can't put any new ROM on the phone.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Paul

You, probably need to run an RUU.
It'll restore your phone to complete stock form so you can start over. It's an official tool, you can download it and run it on your PC but you have to download the one made specifically for your phone model.
I'm assuming you have the AT&T One? Are you s-off or s-on? Depending on which you can skip to that section in this guide : http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/return-stock-guide/
It seems pretty detailed though I haven't used it myself. Besides that there is a ton of info about how to run RUUs so do some searching first.
