[Q] Need guidance flashing sammy based rom from aosp - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an international version of s3. the first rom i had flashed was foxhound based on 4.1.2. after a couple of months, i decided to find other roms to run as my daily driver. flashed a bunch of roms til i come to know of slimbean. flashed the one based on 4.3. after a week or two, wanted to try ultimarom v16. i backed up, wiped everything like i used to before flashing but this time something weird happened. i didnt get all the customizations that the rom is offering, just some minor ones.
so, i was wondering if i had done something wrong and missing anything. tried flashing it again but there were no changes. an example of whats missing is the inability to set toggles on the notification shade. cant even change the tiles on on the shade as well.
its kinda weird cause i read thru the ultimarom thread and those stuff were suppose to be in the rom.
thanks for ur help!!

[Q] Whats the most basic - stock like ICS rom out for this phone?

Friends got this phone and hes tired of waiting for ICS. I told him id put a custom rom on there, but i want to make sure its stable because i dont want him to have many bugs.
Which ROM should i go with? Im guessing he would probably prefer a samsung based rom over a AOSP rom.
Your title of the thread and your question posted do not match. If you want the most stock and stable ROM then here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731382
If you want something else then 10 users will give you 10 different recomendations. Then they will say its great and pefect but blahblah don't work and the ROM will only FC a few times daily.
Link to the stock ROM above should be the way to go unless you and your friend want to sit down and do some reading on your own.

[Q] Omega V33.2 Can install to 2nd ROM not first

Too much of a noob to post to the forum where I want to but still...
I am running Omega V33.2 with Siyah kernel1.7
I was able to install Kalagas ICS like theme without problem but the Kalagas dialler didn´t work.
However, the dialler and circle battery theme both installed fine on my second ROM. The strange thing is, that my second ROM was a clone of the first ROM. So, after I confirmed that they still wouldn´t work on the first ROM, I cloned it again, installed the themes on the second ROM and then swapped them over. This all worked fine.
To me this suggests that there is a difference in the second ROM that Siyah creates and I thought it could be rather important to know what that is.
Does anyone have any ideas?

[Q] instability because of kernel?

Hi all,
Until recently I have been having very unstable results with my SGS2 (gt-i9100), every time the phone would freeze, overheat, use most of the battery in 2 seconds (figuratively speaking that is) or rebooting itself.
Some people on this forum told me to try a different kernel or roms, something I did and well no real improvement, I tried combinations of ressurection remix, omega and kernels such as siyah and dorimanx (I tried more but these are the ones I still remember by name)
Luckily (or unfortunately) I love my phone and android so I didn't really want to change hardware.
Couple of weeks ago, I figured that maybe I should try yet another rom and... SUCCESS!!
Ever since flashing AOKP milestone 1 everything is the way it should be (well to be honest first thing I always do when getting a new phone is rooting it and getting a new rom, so I am not sure how "normal" out of the box operating of an android is :silly
So basically my question to you is:
does the instability have anything to do with the kernel? currently using 3.0.31-cm-00008 (which incidentally, is that CyanogenMod?)
if it is related to the kernel, anyone has any suggestions to make dorimanx/siyah work (as they seem to be pretty popular here on xda, I'm guessing it has more to do with me)
and less kernel related, if a rom is AOKP based (or CM or whatever), does that mean that this rom has all the bugs from the base + the things the specific rom has?
Thanks!

1. May or may not be, usually it's kernel related, yeah that is the usual kernel made for CyanogenMod
2. The latest dorimanx does work fine with xwlsn and so does the latest siyah for xwlss.
3. An AOKP rom has different frameworks and usually is more buggier than stock rom, because of closed source codes (blame Samsung) several features are disabled or improperly functioning.

[Q] Stock camera for LiquidSmooth ROM

Sorry to post this question fellow members, I've been looking for several days without any luck. I was gonna post this quetion in the ROM thread, but thought it was the wrong place.
Currently running LiquidSmooth 4.4.4 on a Verizon LG-VS895 and just NOW noticed the stock camera was gone. I was wondering how to port the stock files back into this rom. I really miss the gimmicky stuff (like magic focus) and was wondering how to eliminate the camera that comes with this rom and revert to the stock camera.
I downloaded a stock rooted rom and tried seeing if i could move files over from it to my phone, but I'm unsure of where to start. Sorry in advance if this has been posted or if I'm a stupid newb, but this is driving me bananas.
I tried flashing camera mod hoping that would restore it, but that didn't work either. So, this question is based off of a fresh install of this rom.
Thanks

Dokdo ROM M440s

So as hectic as it was for me to find a perfect rom, for some reasons i couldnt find a lollipop one. i am currently using cm12.1+devil kernel (which is giving major FCs during installations of apk's and randoms for some reasons despite clean installs) as thats the only option i had other than dokdo that got discontinued and site/server everything is just down.
Can anyone please provide me file/link/mirror if possible?
i am to use s3 for next 2 weeks and i can really use a cm based lollipop rom, so if you're reading this and can, do leave a reply, thanks.
