[Q] How can I restore Dialer and Contacts stock app? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I was erasing some stuff with titanium backup and I delete intentionally the people app, because I didn't want my phone list on the google account; however deleting people app has broken somehow the dialer too and now I can't use it anymore.
I tryed to delete totally the stock dialer and installing a new one downloaded from google play store but it still doesn't work (I couldn't see while calling).
I tryed to download and use the .apk files from kitkat but none of them works.
My phone is a Moto G and it's rooted.
Could someone please give me a suggestion about what to do?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Help! I rooted my phone and uninstalled the calendar.

I rooted my Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept and uninstalled all the calendar files (stupid, i know) but I can't figure out how to reinstall them. I have tried installing the calendar provider, calendar apk, and odex files that I download, but nothing will install. Is there a custom ROM that I can flash that will install google calendar again or another way to get back the calendar function?
Nevermind
Thank you EducateAndInnovate for the post on bROM!! Totally fixed my phone and added some extras that are wonderful! I do have a follow up question though, when I look at Titanium Backup at the ROM storage, it is almost doubled. Did I install two ROMs? Is that even possible? Or is bROM just a bit larger than the stock ROM?

[Q] Stock Verizon Voicemail APK?

Hi everyone...
My first thread here so PLEASE go easy on me!
Im running the Synergy ROM and I love it. One of the main reasons I went with a custom ROM was because I kept getting an error saying no space available when I would go to install a new app or when the Play Store would push an update to an existing app. I installed the ROM and still go the error. Before I did the install I backed up all of my apps with TB.
I went to restore my apps and I still had the error. I found a way around the error... found a not so legal app to help fix my error. I dont mind installing the app ONLY because I used it to fix my error not to get around any licences.
Anyway... once I got the error fixed all of my apps restored except the stock apps. My only problem is I want the stock Verizon Voice Mail app.
I have been able to zip up the entire file from TB BUT me being a newb... I dont know how to extract the app from the zip. I looked in the file and I dont see an APK?
So what I'm asking is can someone either help me get the app extracted from the zip I have from TB or can someone post the stock APK?
Please and thank you in advance for any help.

[Q] Removed Stock Browser

Hello there,
First post on the site. Of course its about troubleshooting!!
On to the problem.
I have rooted my phone, installed Titanium back-up and got a little finger happy uninstalling apps and bloatware from my phone. I thought it was a good idea to uninstall the stock browser with android. Without thinking about it there are other stock apps and services that don't function properly now that I have removed the stock browser (ex. I can't open a any contacts information but I can get into the menu, some of the updating doesn't work properly).
Does anyone know where I can get an apk to re-install the browser to restore full use to the phone?
Thanks guys,
Nathan
Any fruitcake out there?
Not sure if the browser is responsible for all those problems, but here is mine, android 2.3.7. Just push it to /system/app or install it normally
Edit: here it is

You were right andresrivas. The browser installed without problems but it will not open. It says "The application Browser (processcom.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later." message. I get the same message when I try to view a contact inside of the contacts menu. None of the system apps will update either such as the Google Play app still shows as "Market" for example.
I am at a point now where I just want to find a way to reinstall the OS/firmware if its possible. I am not sure where to get a file to do something like that which will mesh with my current service provider "Bell Mobility". Anyone have any ideas?
I abolished trying to fix stock android and just flashed CM7. Everything is perfect now. Thanks for the help.

[Q] Question regarding Titanium Backup and restoring certain apps

I just flashed the Barren stock deodexed rom, but there are some apps i cant restore in TiBu. The apps in particular seem to be all of the google apps (chrome, youtube, voice search, et cetera), while others are the LG weather (which i kind of liked), swype, talk back. They appear in Titanum as greyed out with a line through them and when i go to restore them, the restore dialogue box just hangs. What can i do to fix this?

If you need some of the Sprint or LG apps, they won't install. I'd need to add some files for those to work. I think they were in /cust/overlay/apps.

Install them from the play store. They are no longer system apps. Googlesearch/youtube/Gmail and maybe a few others.
So now we should flash a gapps package even on stock Roms?

Snapchat not working on S6 Edge+ (SM-G9280)

Hi all, my SM-G9280 still cannot log into Snapchat. I've rooted the phone (since it doesn't come with Google Play Services). The android vers is 6.0.1 and Baseband is G9280ZCU2BPK1.
My phone is Chinese so it does not come with Google Play Services, and I have to root to get it.
I've tried :
1) RootCloak + Cydia Substrate. Doesn't work for some reason.
2) Xposed + Root Cloak. Installing the xposed framework crashes my phone and causes a bootloop. Recoverable by flashing the stock ROM and resetting phone though.
(EDIT: Xposed + Root Cloak does work now, I've added Snapchat to the list of root-hide apps, but it still does not allow me to log into Snapchat.)
3) Unrooting and Rerooting. Unrooting removes Google Play Services along with the root and Snapchat does not work if Google Play Services is not present.
I would try Titanium Backup with Snapchat except I don't have a second android device avaliable.
Is there any other solutions that I can do to log into Snapchat?
Can someone help me? Please?
Bump, can someone please help me?
Bumped again... Please someone help me with this issue.
First off why would removing root remove Google play services? This is not how this works. From the looks of it you have a china based device that didn't come with Google stuff installed. Take care of that first. Then root after.
Yeah, I have to root in order to get Google stuff.
As far as I know for my device there is no way to get Google Play Services other than rooting.

Well then I would root get the Google stuff and unroot. As they are not connected you should be able to pull it off.
I tried that. But as soon as I unroot Google Play Services dissapears and when I unroot using SuperSU it causes a bootloop, which is solvable by flashing the custom ROM,
So that doesn't work. Or am I doing something wrong with the unrooting process?

You are doing something wrong along the way. If you have a custom rom then you should have a custom recovery as well. At That point all you have to do is flash the rom and a gapps package. Dont flash any root apps. If they are built into the rom then that may be a bit harder to deal with.
I don't have a custom rom...
The way I got Google Play Services and Google Play to work is I rooted, then used a third-party app (Not OpenGApps) to install Google Play Services, the framework, and everything else.
I still have my stock rom, it's just rooted and has google play services that's all.
The fix is easy. Just grab another phone that is rooted but without Xposed Framework, you install SC and login. After login do a backup of the app with Titanium backup then move the backup to you Note 5/Galaxy s6+ and do a restore of the app's data (data has log in token). That's all ?
Now, if you don't own another phone then you have have to install stock ROM, then log in to your SC using the stock ROM without any modding (rooting) yet. After login root the phone and do a backup with Titanium backup. You can restore your Login data anytime after doing the backup. That's all.
I think that the problem with the log in may be because of the Knox counter in the ROM being triggered. Hope it's works for you. I use this exact method to fix the log in issue.

Read the OP.
I don't have another phone to do Titanium Backup.
When I install Stock ROM, Google Play Services and Framework is not installed therefore Snapchat doesn't work.
Would clearing EVERYTHING, then flashing Stock ROM, then getting OpenGApps help? Because if so then I can do that except i do not know how to setup OpenGApps...
Okay, so I got TWRP then flashed TWRP, then got OpenGApps to get Google Play Services.
I then unrooted but it took away Google Play Services and everything as well. I can't login to Snapchat.
Am I still doing something wrong here?
Bump, posted this on a couple of other forums and no one has replied with a solution
Someone help solve please
Bump.
Bump, I've been able to somehow install Xposed and root cloak. I've added Snapchat to the list to hide the root from the app, but it still won't let me log in.
Bump.
Bump.
