Every Rom I try to flash fails ro.build.device - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I have everything done, root, s-off, supercid. Every Rom I try to flash always fails at the updater script. Any help would be appreciated.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

What recovery are you using. TWRP right? switch to CWM touch should work. its a issue ive stumbled on quite a few times CWM dosnt seem to care about "ro.build.device" TWRP does and wont flash.
I guess its to stop you from flashing the wrong ROM for example.
if the rom states its intended for the m7ul "International HTC One" and you have the m7tmo "HTC One on T-mobile" it wont let you flash because your ro.build.device dosnt match the ROM flash script.
Note:
Never built a ROM before so i dont know the stages of how it checks the device model so i may be wrong i just made a educated guess.

Kernel Help Please!

my evo 3d GSM is unlocked, with s-off and it is rooted. it also has CWM recovery on it. I am a noob when it comes to kernel flashing so i need help. i understand the basics of how to flash but when i try to flash either Leedroid's kernel or unity v3b kernel i get the same error message in CWM something about status 7. i did some research and found out that this comes from the phone trying to put the boot image where it isnt supposed to go, i believe that this problem is coming from the fact that i used the revolutionary tool to s-off my device and then it asked if i wanted to flash CWM right then and there... so i did that, rather than the traditional way. please if you have any help in this matter let me know and i just want the kernel, i am not interested in any ROMs. ALSO i would like to keep all of my data so no sd wipe-age please, im fine with cache wiping. please help me install this kernel.

Phone only boots rooted stock Rom

Hello, XDA family. This is my issue today. I didn't read all that there was to know about rooting and flashing in the EVO LTE, because I did my share of flashing on the OG. However, when I couldn't boot into AOSP roms, I started my research and found out different stories about how to go about doing so.
I saw somewhere that I had to flash a specific boot image first, then flash the Rom. That didn't work, and it also crashed my WiFi.
After even MORE research, I found that the phone has to be S-Off, and I am not.
After trying to flash an updated IMG to save my WiFi, the phone didn't boot to the animation. It showed the splash screen, then went blank. And this happened for all of the custom roms that I tried to flash. It only booted to a rooted version of the stock Rom.
It also corrupted my TWRP 2.1 recovery, and the recovery kept restarting. I solved the issue by flashing TWRP 2.3
I even tried flashing the stock recovery and.installing the OTA update, and it did nothing but perform a data reset, and cleaned my internal sd. So I'm stuck on the software version that doesn't have a remappable Multitasking button.
What do I do?

Did you try using Flash image GUI to flash the kernel first?

Yes, and I suspect that it was the incorrect kernel altogether. Not was one from Komodo...rls one, I believe. My phone did a factory reset, so I can't tell you.

Okay, so I found a thread on themikmik that has a boot img for the rom that I am using.

Let's hope that this works out in my favor.

Quick update: Wifi doesn't work. I'm going to try flashing a custom rom and see what happens

I forgot to mention in my first post that when I flash custom sense roms, I wouldn't see the disclaimer in red letters with the splash screen, and then the phone would go blank.
Now, after flashing the new img, and flashing a custom rom (Sinister LTE V4), I STILL didn't see the red letters, which I thought that it would fail. HOWEVER, it actually DID boot, with Wifi working and everything. So...what the he'll happened? I don't really care at this point...but I'm laying of flashing for a little bit until I do a lot more research, since my new EVO different in subtle ways from its predecessor, but those same "subtle" differences almost bricked my phone. I blame it on my negligence.

I don't think you nearly bricked your phone. You don't need to be s-off buy it does make things easier. The fact that your Wi-Fi was not working probably means you flashed a version of komodo that wasn't up to date with your rom or visa versa.
My advice would be to read the "don't panic" thread stickied in the Q&A section

Here's exactly how I flash my ROMs. Haven't had an issue since I started using this method:
Download ROM I want, adb push it to my INTERNAL sd card.
Open Flash Image, select "flash kernel" and select the entire .zip of the ROM I downloaded. It will find the kernel file for me.
Flash the kernel.
Reboot into TWRP.
Select "Wipe System" and wipe the whole system.
Flash ROM.
Boot.
Once my phone has booted, go into TWRP again and flash gapps, then reboot.
I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have an issue if I try and flash ROM and GAPPS without booting in between. Or if I try and flash the rom and my TiBu update.zip at the same time. I have to flash ROM, reboot, then reboot again into recovery and flash GAPPS/update.zip.
Hope that helps.
Ahhh...interesting. As I mentioned before, I am not S-off. I am not sure if I will become S-off at some point, but right now, I am very happy to be on Sense 4. That's the main reason I chose this phone over the GS3 when I was upgrading from my OG Evo.
I like Sense roms, and when the ONE series was released, my entire theme became Sense 4.
However, if I ever decide to begin flashing AOSP roms, I will certainly keep your advice in mind.

HELP Rooted and Installed ARHD Now Phone Hangs at Quietly Brilliant

Sorry I'm a noob at all of this. Successfully rooted my phone today thanks to Honsoon2000's excellent tutorial and toolkit. Then I went to install Android Revolution, which appeared to go successfully and then after I flashed the kernel the phone wouldn't load and just hangs at the quietly brilliant screen. I followed Honsoon's tutorial to the T (or so I thought) and everything went perfectly until right at the end when I flashed the kernel. I can make it back to the bootloader screen though it says "failed to load usb master mode". I can still make it into fastboot and recovery mode...tried recovery, and the process seemed to go sucessfully, but the phone still wouldn't load after...tried reinstalling ARHD-- it's still on the sd card and the install procedure still goes off without a hitch, but the phone still won't load. I've searched around and tried everything I can, to no avail. Any help would be muchly appreciated, and I apologize in advance for being a noob wasting people's time.
Edit: For example, when I follow the steps outlined in the FAQ it asks me to enter the command 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' , but when I do it says 'error: cannot load boot.img'.
Edit 2: So I put my boot.img file from Android Revolution into the data directory of the rooting toolkit and was able to complete the above flashboot command. I was also able to install the ROM off my SD card...however the phone still hangs on the Quietly Brilliant screen...I can't even power the phone down...whenever I try it just reboots...frustrating...really hoping someone can help me...cheers.
Before you begin, make sure that the drivers for the One X+ are installed.
Place the boot image being used on the computer's hard drive.
Boot in to recovery and flash the ROM.
When that is done, boot in to bootloader and connect the phone to the PC via a USB cable.
If the phone isn't in fastboot mode already, use the volume keys to highlight the word "fastboot", then press the power button.
Now, there should be text at the bootloader screen that says "Fastboot USB".
Finally, use the toolkit or command line and flash the kernel with the fastboot command.
This should successfully flash the ROM and the kernel. Make sure you full wipe before flashing a new ROM. If you can't seem to get the new ROM booting, the final choice is to relock the bootloader and run a RUU.
Which phone version you do own? International or AT&T / TELUS?
Did you flashed the correspondant boot.img? Did you cleared the cache? ( fastboot erase cache)
I'm trying to run an RUU but it keeps saying the battery isn't charged enough to flash anything...and this after it's been plugged in all day. Oh dear I think my phone might be done...really sucks :/
Also, it won't let me power the phone down-- every time i try it shuts the phone off briefly and then opens back up to the bootloader screen.
Fixed thanks to sarcasticphoenix. Cheers.
OK so I've tried 3 times to flash a new ROM onto my phone (Android Revolution twice and Eleganzia once) using Honsoon's toolkit...I've followed every instruction to the T as far as I can tell and all 3 times the process has gone perfectly right until the end when I flash the kernel...after that when I reboot the phone it just hangs at the Quietly Brilliant screen. I know how to relock the bootloader, flash the custom rom and get my phone back...but I really want to know what I'm doing wrong so I can install a custom ROM. I know I'm using the right ROM for my phone and am wondering what gives. Being driven crazy here...any ideas what's going wrong here would be helpful. BTW on the last attempt right after I finished and the phone hung I went into the boot loader and followed the instructions in the FAQ for fixing a bootloop...still nothing.
Edit: Solved my problem-- I managed to successfully load eleganzia...the only thing i did differently the last time was flash the kernel BEFORE installing the ROM off the SD card.

That's usually what I do first, flash the kernel and then install the zip via recovery

Which kernel are you referring too? Actually there is one or two kernels available but only for the International version, not the AT&T/TELUS which you seem to have.
I strongly suspect that your boot looping was because you didn't flash the boot.img file correctly or not at all. And you don't seem to install the good ROM version for your phone.
Elegancia has two ROM versions one for International and one for AT&T/TELUS users.
ARHD is for International users.
Please read Q12 of the FAQ.

Lol...yeah I don`t know how I missed that. I ended up getting elegancia successfully flashed and loaded so all is well. In retrospect this was a good experience because there`s nothing like having to get yourself unforked from a bad situation to gain an understanding of what`s going on. Cheers.
I have a couple questions and since I`m not allowed to post yet in the elegancia thread I'll try in this thread first:
1) An elegancia question: Is there a way (widget) to toggle data roaming on and off in this ROM?
2) Is there a way to tweak settings (transparent pull down, selection of launcher etc.) without wiping and reflashing the ROM?
3) What are people's favorite launcher for that ROM? I tried Atom but it was just a guess because I hadn't heard of any of them. I like it so far but am curious about the others.

need help with flashing roms to my phone

Hello Everyone,
Ok so not sure where to start, umm yesterday i decided to root my phone i have the HTC Desire C from Cricket wireless. I was successful at unlocking my bootloader and rooting the device. Now for some reason im unable to flash a custom rom or whatever to my device, not sure if im doing something wrong, but i must have screwed something up because i cant even perform a factory reset or a hard reset to the device at all, and the google play store no longer works and the sync icon never goes away. Now when i attempt to flash the custom rom the clockwork recovery tool wont allow me to do a full wipe which i believe must be completed before you can even install the roms.
any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.
Just unlocking and rooting the device should not affect how the Play Store works at all. That seems odd. What's the error? By the Clockwork recovery tool, are you referring to the Rom Manager or the actual ClockWorkMod recovery?

Actually you know what, I think i know what happened. when i was trying to flash the rom i also flashed the gapps for jelly bean into my phone which is running ice cream sandwich currently because the rom flashing failed. So basically i think the gapps apps are conflicting with the stock apps on the phone ? It seems like all the google apps are the only ones messing up and the google account sync is messing up also the google playstore and google plus crashes a lot so its only the google apps. so what do you think and how do i restore the phone ? I didnt make a back up recovery either. If someone could also just walk me through how to flash a custom rom like CyanogenMod i believe everything will probably fix its self (hopefully). oh and as for the Clockworkmod i think its the actual clockworkmod recovery the one with a black hat, i accessed it through bootloader recovery options, anyway it doesnt allow me to flash any custom roms ive tried like 3 so far and everytime it ask me for some update file or something about a update not sure.
Yep, the other Google apps is what did it. You don't need to flash Gapps on a stock rom, only for ones like CM that don't come pre-installed. Well, first off, it's good to take note of what system version and baseband version you have, in case you need to find the files for later to reflash. As far as CM, well, you might want to check on how stable a version is for your phone. Often times less popular HTC CDMA phones don't have as good of support from CM. If you just find another stock rom and install it through CWM, you'll probably be fine. Just make sure to wipe everything suggested in the install guide for the rom you pick. Some devs and roms require a full wipe including /system and some do not. ProTip : Do a backup in CWM before ever wiping /system, even your system now which doesn't work right, because if you wipe the system and the rom you downloaded doesn't work, then you will be stuck with nothing to do and at that point would need to find the RUU from HTC to restore the phone back to stock.
FYI: If you unlocked via htcdev.com, this is not a full unlock and whenever you install a custom rom that has a different kernel than what is already on the phone, then you need to extract the boot.img from the rom.zip and install it via fastboot. You should get familiar with fastboot as it is very handy for reviving the phone in a worst case scenario.

Ok Thanks for the reply, now as for the full wipe my CWM wont allow me to do this im only allowed to do a cache wipe and I believe this is why im unable to get a Rom working on my phone and this is getting very frustrating, the CWM is the latest version and TWRT wont even flash to my phone so that one doesnt work at all if you know of any others please let me know. Yesterday morning i soft bricked my phone and none of the roms are working because i believe i must perform a full wipe which i am unable to do at this time. oh and about unlocking my bootloader via htcdev.com and it not being a full unlock, do you suggest that may have something to do with the fact roms wont work on my phone and how do you do a full unlock ? oh and i tried to restore back to stock also thats not working either, I get a status 7 error when installing the roms and sometimes a status 6.

Are you sure you don't have the recovery from another version of the Desire C - GSM maybe? I still don't understand what you mean when you say you can factory reset. Why not? What is the error? And sounds like at this point you should just use the RUU to return to full stock and start over.

Ok not sure what the RUU is and how im suppose to use it to return to full stock, and correct i cant perform a factory reset in bootloader period, when i select factory reset it does nothing but reboot and say HTC "this build is for development purposes only do not distribute outside of htc without written permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action." then it stays like that and nothing else happens period, not sure what im doing wrong but no worries im going to buy a new phone tomorrow and never use custom roms again, if i want a upgrade ill just go out and buy a new phone which i should have done in the first place, only thing ill be doing is rooting my devices for now on and nothing more thank you for your help.
Well, once you have a custom recovery, you don't factory reset from the bootloader screen, but via the recovery itself. That's one of the main reasons for the recovery - better options to wipe the phone as well as backing up, restoring, and flashing the custom stuff. Not saying you shouldn't buy another phone, but no reason to give up on this one. I just think it would require a bit more reading since you don't see very familiar with what to do with CWM after you installed it. Have you even booted INTO CWM?

Need ROM for HTC Desire 626s (T-Mobile)

So, to start, I rooted my phone, unlocked the bootloader, and flashed TWRP for the recovery.
I did all of this so that I could prepare it for CyanogenMod. I made the mistake of not backing up my data (I seriously, seriously regret this decision now) and wiped my phone so that I could install Cyanogen, only to find out that there is no Cyanogen build available at this time for my phone model. I've looked all over google and bing and couldn't find one.
So I tried to find a stock rom to install. Screw it, I can debloat it myself if it's rooted, right? Nope. No stock roms. Sorry. Tried the RUU, and the one for my carrier says it's not the correct one, the metroPCS one stops halfway through the flashing process before it decides to tell me the same thing, and I didn't try the sprint RUU. This is driving me up the wall and all I want is a single flashable rom to work with so that I have some kind of functioning phone again.
Any help is appreciated.
Update: This thread helped me restore my phone to factory state, and I was able to re-reoot from there.
