On .290 and prior firmwares, you could access the camera directly from the lockscreen without unlocking via your password/pattern/etc.
I just noticed that I can't do anything on the lockscreen now that I am on .136 without unlocking the phone first.
I recall there was no actual limit to the number of apps you could add to your lockscreen before - for example, I had it so that when you swiped right, the camera started - but when you swiped left, it went to my GMail widget.
Sure, when I tried actually opening an email from the widget, it would prompt me for my pattern - but I could view the subject lines and first lines of each email without any problem.
I now can't seem to do anything - nor can I find a setting to enable it.
Has anyone else noticed this?
b-b-b-bump.

I've noticed that the stock lockscreen never shows up when the phone is protected by a password. When I turn on the screen, I am automatically prompt to enter my password without ever seing the lockscreen. The only time the lockscreen shows is when the phone is not locked.
I spoke with Samsung this morning and they said this is how it's supposed to work but I just think it's pretty weird to have it working this way. I'm coming from an HTC and the lockscreen always shows when you turn on the screen, whether the phone is protected by a password or not. Same thing on CM7.
So my question is as follows: Is there any way to force the stock lockscreen to show-up prior to being prompt to enter the password? The reason I'd like to have the lockscreen showing is that it gives you the possibility to see some notifications from the lockscreen, and launch the given application right away.
I know there are some lockscreen apps out there but the problem with them is that they often fail to launch (takes a few seconds before they kick in). Also, when the phone is still unlocked (I have a 5 mins delay prior to locking), I'd get to see two lockscreens back to back (app + stock), which is annoying.
Thanks!
One of the best features that ICS has is the ability to access the the notification bar while on the lock screen (The stock one with no security enabled). It works perfectly for all the GAPPS, messaging, and changing the Charge/Disk Drive options (Unlocking the phone by touching the notification). However if I get a facebook notification or want to access Pandora it doesn't unlock the phone. I can still access the notification bar and click on the app Im trying to access, but then it just goes back to the lock screen and I have to unlock the phone. is there fix for this that maybe I am missing?
So yeah, I happened to come across a very very stupid "bug".
I have been using the lockscreen with maximum amount of "connected dots" (the gesture unlock method).
After updating to the latest CyanogenMod 10, that amount has now been reduced to 3x3, which renders my unlocking gesture unusable.
So here I am, sitting with a phone that I cannot unlock. I would have wiped it if it wasn't for a very important SMS that I have gotten, and now can't access.
Can anyone help me out?
Do it wrongly a few number of times, it will prompt you to use your google account to login. Do that, it should be unlocked.

I have a Nexus 4, unrooted, stock, running Android 4.4.3. Is there any way to access the camera app from the lock-screen when using a PIN to lock the phone?
This is my personal phone, but my employer requires a PIN lock (with a very short timeout) in order to access my work exchange server. It is annoying to have to enter the pin each time I want to take a photo. Once the PIN lock has been enabled there is no way to access the camera or any widgets from the lock screen. All of the applicable settings are greyed out in the security settings menu.
I have done enough searches to know that this is not possible without rooting, but I am not clear on whether or not it is possible if I root the phone. If so, what is the easiest path to add a working camera icon to the lock screen?
When my phone updated to 4.4.3, for a few days there was a camera icon on the lock screen but it did not work. No amount of swiping, dragging, or tapping could get it to work. Then after a few days the camera icon just disappeared.
Thank for you help!
OK, I see a few threads with similar questions (but no answers) on the boards of XDA, so going to ask this question.
My Xperia Z2 (BL locked, no root, running the stock Nordic Lollipop rom) doesn't show any notifications on the lock screen. My phone is PIN protected as that's a security requirement for my work Exchange e-mail account. But, even after removing my account (I thought some security setting was overriding the Android settings), I'm still not seeing any notifications on my lockscreen when I get an e-mail or text.
Is this just the way the ROM is? Or is there something wrong? I've gone through and double checked the notification settings after watching the Google help videos, but everything looks ok.
Thx,
Praz
UPDATE 4/7/15:
I just did a full reset and a fresh install of the U.S. 5.02 firmware. And from what I can tell, I'm still not getting lockscreen notifications on my Z2. I have my work e-mail on the phone; could it be that the corp security is disabling lockscreen notifications?
Anyone else having any issues w/ this?
I have just the same problem, have not been able to find any solution for this yet.
Someone else that have a solution?

Not sure - will mess w/ it some more later this week. Worst case, will do a reset to factory settings and see if the notifications show up. It's a little annoying right now to have neither status bar or the new style lockscreen notifications. But there aren't too many settings to screw it up, so I thought I'd check w/ you guys.
