I've seen that people have this working for various phones (like the HTC One). Does anyone here have it working on the Verizon S4? If so, which rom are you using?
I'm using a TW 4.3 build and I keep getting flagged.

When you say flagged, you mean by Good? I'm assuming your Good admin?
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk
i tried this with the note3 and it didnt work. not exactly the same as the s4, but pretty close. Good for Enterprise has it locked down pretty good
Yes, I meant that I was flagged by Good for being rooted. No, I'm not an admin, so I have to be careful with how many times I fail and have to request a new pin. People are definitely getting it working on other phones.

It's working now! I'm using this Google Edition 4.4 rom. After it failed again with RootCloaker and the revoked permissions mentioned in the thread, I installed the Xposed module here. (I left RootCloaker and the revoked permissions in place, but I'm not sure if that was necessary.) I'm now able to use GFE on my rooted phone without any "compliance violation".

You may have already seen this but if not, XDA member febcyv has managed to get google now working with ICS.

I have not tried this on my TF300 yet, but if anyone else has I would be eager to find out how you got on.
Good luck and enjoy
Just installed it, and everything wet smoothly. I have no idea what I am expecting now though, it appears to have just replaced the search bar. Nothing different seems to have happened so far.
Edit: I had to install the modified Velvet-theos0o.apk file in order to get it to work properly. Voice search isn't working but that seems to be a common issue.

if you search factual questions it should now bring up "knowledge cards" with your answer rather than a google search.
Also try holding home and dragging up, it may open "google now" which is supposed to act a bit like your PA and learn your routine
I'm also doing a bigger more widespread port of this over in the android development>apps and games section
We have both a flashable .zip and an .apk. It has a strong effort into getting voice to work. If you want check it out. Go ahead!

Is there any versions out for non-rooted devices? Don't feel too good rooting my new device, would lose the quarantee
Unlocking voids warranty, rooting doesn't.
It says that it requires a "A Rooted device running ICS AOSP Rom". I'm rooted but NOT unlocked and therefore NOT running a custom ROM.
This won't work for me. Right?

Im not 100% sure, but I would imagine that the stock ROM is close enough to AOSP for it to work.
I think it probably would work, but you may want to wait for someone else to confirm

I'm the head of one of the Google Now for ICS projects and you can probably install this normally. Just make sure not to delete your original "GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk" file. Just rename it and have it on hand to put back if anything goes wrong.

Today I have been sitting at work. I compared the LG Nexus 5 to the Galaxy S4 and noticed they were pretty similar. Not same, just alike. Anyway, what I though about is can the S4 be cleaned up and as close to a Nexus as possible? Is there a way to mod this and replace the ROM with something as clean and stock that is NOT SS? I am not one for writing code but I do follow directions pretty well and can mod without bricking my phone. I've started modding back with the Samsung Moment/Transform. So, is this possible? if so, are there any threads? and lastly, what is the difference with android dev and original android dev? the forums kinda changed on me one day and now it has new stuffs.

With the locked bootloader you are out of luck replacing the full OS.
But you will lose some nice features if you could.
I rooted and disabled all the Verizon and Samsung stuff I don't use or need. YMMV on what you want frozen.
I have mine pretty tuned now.
I have the latest version of wallet supporting tap and pay.
Have Xposed framework installed to change behavior.
I don't need vanilla Android.

I am rooted on ME7. I didn't upgrade because i am in the field playing army. anyhoo, what samsung stuff did you freeze? i don't want to freeze something that is required to run. Can i freeze the launcher if i have a replacement already running(touchwiz)?
what did you do to "tune" it?
And it's been awhile since i modded.
I checked the sticky and froze apps from the list people tested. I then picked a few of my own. I'm running xposed and the Wanam module that allows me to change all kinds do of appearance stuff. I also have tethering working. I moved from ME7. In hindsight I would stay there MI1 has more limitations for customization.

That is why I am staying on ME7 until i see a viable root for 4.3. I don't want to risk losing root or the framework either.
as for the sticky, i can't seem to find it in the boards. i wear glasses so I know i'm blind.
Framework works on mj7. You can update without losing root but yes you need to find the thread, there are files and instructions. Also will likely need a como to properly odin no wipe back to a stock system set up.
Find in the general section.

I have always used adaway on my devices but it does not seem to work properly for me on this device. I am running Verizon One Max stock rom, Rooted, S-off, bootloader is relocked. Should it be working with these settings.
as far as i know there is no relation between your rom/s-off/bootloader or anything else. it should work if you have it installed and running properly.
Its not. I'm not sure what's going on. A little more info. If I try to open the host file from the adaway app nothing happens. When using any root app that wants to reboot the phone it just closes and I have to reboot manually. Not sure if this is related but it is what I have found.

I had the same issue with the Sprint variant until I install an unsecure boot.img. Without the unsecure boot.img root was not functioning correctly. Not sure if this is the exact same issue or not, but its worth looking into, and before you ask: No I don't have a unsecure boot.img for the Vzw device, and no the one for Sprint should not work on the Vzw device.
Thanks for the info. I know the sprint version is no good to me. I have been all over Google and am guessing a Verizon unsecured boot.IMG is just not available right now. If anyone out there knows a link please help.

I believe one or two people are working on providing the Verizon files and/or an ruu. Not sure what issue you might be having as I am on Verizon and don't seem to be having issues with adblock plus. I have not relocked my bootloader since running rumrunner though. So for now you may have to do without fingerprint and leave bootloader unlocked until the files come out.

I unlocked it again and rerooted just to be safe. Still no good. The only thing I see that has changed is ad away now shows me the host file when I tell it to. It is full of blocked things but it is not blocking. I added a site manually and rebooted. I can still get to the site. I will try ad block plus. Maybe it will work better.

Last post I care to make on this issue. I am just going to deal with it. Someone released the insecure boot.img for verizon but it still does not solve my issue. No ads are blocked.
My device also face that problem like after reboot device the adblock app disable itself again.

You'll probably never be able to install a custom rom.
Best you'll be able to get is modded TouchWiz, e.g. Hyperdrive: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301724
Check your build version in Settings -> About Phone.
If the last 3 characters are M** (e.g. MK2), you can root/flash TouchWiz roms. If it's NC5, you can't do anything, not even root.
Alright. Hopefully it's still on android 4.2.2

The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 was a new experience for me when it comes to modding the ROM. It turns out that the revision of the phone makes a large difference. It is very important that you read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501 thread started by decaturbob. Instructions that work for some versions of the S4 will brick others, so read that thread first. Then you will have a better understanding of your limits.
I picked up mine a few months back, so I have one of the most locked down versions. I can say that I've installed Hyperdrive, and I'm very happy with it. I do miss the CM ROM I had with my old phone (Razr), but that's not gonna happen soon, if at all, with this one.
Good luck!

If you got an mdk(4.2.2)on the way, count your blessings and whatever you do don't take any ota updates... Its hard to get one of these baby's anymore...luckily I read heavily about the s4 when I was looking to buy and knew before I even had it in hand not to update it...good luck and happy modding
If possible, Go back to Verizon and return s4!! Get LG G2 or HTC One M7 instead!!!
Belive me if it wasn't for the fact that foxfi works on kitkat I would have got another phone. But the s4 is a great phone and If I can root it that will be even better if not no biggy I just have to be able to WiFi tether.

We all root and use modded roms for various reasons. Some want to explore the newer ideas and try the latest cool roms at will. Others, including myself, want a good, stable rom with lots of custom options. After a few weeks of tweaking it, I just go back to using the phone. Both are fine approaches, it depends on what you want. The first option, with easily swapped roms, is not going to happen with the S4. The second, works just fine with the Hyperdrive mod. I agree that the S4 is a great phone, I did root it, I like Hyperdrive, and I use the WiFi tether routinely.
The advice is this: If you want to choose from a variety of roms, especially if you want an AOSP rom, you'll be needing to have an older S4 or another phone altogether. If you're content with the one or two custom rom mods available for the newer S4, such as Hyperdrive, you'll be fine.

I upgraded from Google Wallet to Android Pay for NFC payments today and when I set up my card it gives me the error "Android Pay cannot be used Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is Android compatible" (yes, "Android," not "Android Pay"). Is anybody else running into this? Trying to narrow to down whether this an incompatibility with CyanogenMod in particular or the phone being rooted/ROMed at all.
I'm on stock rooted of1 and getting same thing. I think it's root that's the problem from what I have been gathering off the internet.

You're right, you cannot use Google pay with a rooted phone, I heard that there is an xposed module that hides root so that it be used.
