INSTALLER: How to install using the installer:
Make sure you have USB debugging turned ON.
download ZU-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.installer.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com
Windows:
unpack at C: or somewhere you will remember!
navigate to the resulting directory and look for install.bat, double click it to run;
Linux:
unpack in your home folder with 'unzip ZU-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.installer.zip'
navigate to the resulting directory and 'chmod +x install.sh', then execute it, follow instructions.
Your phone WILL reboot when installation has completed and it will go into the default recovery for the first boot.
Reboot to system from recovery to allow the installer to clean up after installation (it is safe to skip this step).
Enjoy DUAL RECOVERY!
How to install or update using a previously installed (XZDualRecovery) recovery:
Create a backup of /system/bin/chargemon and keep it somewhere safe, then just flash ZU-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.flashable.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com using CWM or TWRP.
How to remove:
Delete the following files:
/system/bin/recovery.twrp.cpio.lzma (or .tar)
/system/bin/recovery.cwm.cpio.lzma (or .tar)
/system/bin/recovery.philz.cpio.lzma
/system/bin/charger
/system/bin/dualrecovery.sh
/system/bin/mr
Rename /system/bin/mr.stock to /system/bin/mr to restore stock functionality, then inside /system/bin/ rename chargemon.stock to chargemon check its permissions (should be 755 or otherwise visible as -rwxr-x-r-x). Done!
When installing custom ROMs:
Be sure to flash ZU-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.flashable.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com after installing the ROM and before you reboot, this way you will not lose recovery!
How to use:
At boot, once you feel the phone vibrate and while you see the green led burn:
- press VOL-UP for PhilZ Touch;
- press VOL-DOWN for TWRP.
To enter Vanilla CWM, you will need to use the (free) NDRUtils app from the Play store
2.x Features:
When you have a SDCard1 and the XZDualRecovery is able to use it, you can put a file called 'donotrun' inside the XZDualRecovery log folder to make XZDualRecovery escape following boot attempts.
If you find yourself in a bootloop situation, take out your SDCard1 and put that file in the directory if it exists using a PC. Reboot your phone with Power+Vol-UP and you will be able to boot your phone as if there was no recovery there!
XZDualRecovery will signal the escape or any reason why it would not be able to continue normal operation with a 2 second burn of your LED in the color RED. A reason would be a broken /cache and no SDCard1 or a busybox in /system/xbin which does not support the lzcat command. If you see that, check /tmp/XZDualRecovery for a logfile there, it will tell you why.
XZDualRecovery will try to use your SDCard1 for logging and functionality, if it has been formatted with ext2/4, FAT16/32 or exFAT. NTFS is currently unsupported.
XZDualRecovery now prevents the RIC service from starting up, this means when running XZDualRecovery the Remount-Reboot fix is no longer needed.
Defaults:
The default on first boot with the boot-to-recovery flag set by any recovery is PhilZ Touch Recovery.
Init.d support is disabled by default, set dr.initd.active to true to enable it.
Insecure ramdisk support is disabled by default, set dr.insecure.ramdisk to true to enable it, set to 'power' to boot it by pressing the power button at boot.
Error reporting:
Please, when reporting errors or problems:
Put up a notice in this thread providing the package name you used to install or update;
Include ROM name and/or FW version numbers;
Include what SU apk you are using (SuperUser or SuperSU)
Send me the contents of all the log files from right after a failed boot attempt or a link to an archive containing these logs by PM (that's including the .old rotation logs!). If you have no website or online location to store the logs, PM me for an email address to send them to.
Logs can be found inside:
/cache/recovery
/tmp/XZDualRecovery
/storage/sdcard1/XZDualRecovery
/cache/XZDualRecovery (if the previous exists, this one will not!)
NOTE: I need them ALL!
I really need them to troubleshoot what failed and what worked OK. Thank you!

Awesome, and thank you! I can't see a reason why i should flash this if i already have recovery/TWRP installed? Or? Would you recommend me to install this one, or isn't it that big of a deal?

No, it's a personal preference really
XZDualRecovery has been created with choice in mind. It's feature rich and more are coming but if you can do without the features...
Hi guys, can someone tell me what i am doin wrong??
1. Hes not asking about choice from menu.
and also
2. hes going forward saying theres no choice64 and cannot push any files...

Check the 3rd post on the development topic... It clearly states not all rom versions can be rooted like this.
You need the 534 JB4.2 release for this to work.
I didn't check cuz I thought it for developers
Thanks for help
Dual recovery was working fine, now it stopped and I'm getting the red LED burn.
I was reading the OP again and it mentioned Busybox. If I installed a busy box pro apk I had, could that have broken the dual recovery? Should I just reinstall?
I didn't flash anything or reinstall ROMs prior to it breaking.

That depends on the version of XZDR you installed really... If you had the latest it should fix busybox by itself.
Check the logs inside the XZDualRecovery folder, it will probably tell you what's wrong.

I had .95 beta. Busybox messed it up, uninstalling busybox did nothing. I just restored the phone and fixed it real quick, no big deal.
Hi all,
If I am already on TWRP, can I simply flash the zip file then reboot recovery? Just curious
thanks!

As long as it is already rooted, yes. Otherwise you will have to downgrade to the last rootable version (.532) to root and upgrade to KK.

I am on rooted (.136) with ur dual recovery. So I can download a KitKat zip flashable and install it through recovery?

Never Mind..
I'm running Monx and I've been using TWRP for a while, but I want to try PhilZ, and I can't get this thing to work. Is being on Monx messing me up? When I install this and tell it to boot PhilZ, the phone just turns off. Then if I hold Vol-Up and Power, the phone stays off. I can still boot TWRP just fine, but it seems like everything else is getting blocked off. Any advice?
installation says device is not supported for me
i have c6833 running 4.4.2

I'm looking for a brave soul or two that has a GPe and would like to do some testing to see if we can have a tool that will convert any togari ROM into one that will boot and have working radio on a togari_gpe. PM me if you want to be a tester.
A huge thank you to @flipperg and @adfurgerson for testing this and helping to improve this tool and the instructions below.
Warning:
If this does't work it may leave your GPe in a non booting state, only test if you are comfortable re-flashing boot.img and ROMs again
ROM 2 GPe:
A tool for converting a ROM into GPe ROM
This tool will take an installed ROM and GPeize it so that it will boot with a working radio etc
Install:
Download and save Custom togari ROM to ZU_GPe
Download and save rom2togari_gpe to ZU_GPe
Getting a working kernel & recovery: <=== Read This Section Carefully
If you are running DooMKernel or if you get "This device is a honami" and you are flashing a custom ROM do this:
extract boot.img from Custom togari ROM to desktop (or similar)
flash boot.img to the ZU_GPe using flashtool or fastboot.exe while phone is in fastboot mode
Boot into recovery
Wipe data and caches
Flash a custom togari ROM
Flash rom2togari_gpe
Reboot and pray
Download:
Version 1 [10/05/2014]
Working conversions:
Working on CM11 and Carbon with some bugs
Should work with all AOSP/CM11 ROMs
Might even work with Stock based ROMs (read monx and partial* FTF flashes)
Now that I have thought about it I can't see this working on Stock based ROMs, and now we have DooMLoRD's Sony port there is little point in trying to get it to work on Sony firmware.
* Warning:
Never flash the whole FTF or you will hard BRICK your GPu Ultra, only ever flash the kernel and system and never use Sony OTA/PCC updates
Again:

Firsrt let me say thank you for your work. I have had my GPE for less than a week and am still getting a grasp on what is needed for unlocking, root, and recovery. I am also waiting for parts to arrive for my old LG Optimistic G, if I can get it working as a backup phone I will be willing to test. Hopefully you won't lose interest before then.
Edit...parts came for what I hoped would be my backup phone, but it didn't fix it.
Edit...tried to flash Carbon with TWRP from DooMLoRD's kernel and it failed with message "This package is for C6802 C6806....E:Error executing updater binary in zip"
@blueether if you can upload a zip later I will try, or I could try to remove that line if it was explained to me.
I'd prefer to not be the first... Has anyone attempted?

See my second edit in above post. Updater script wouldn't let me flash ROM.
Thanks for the willingness to test.
The error will go away if you open the zip and edit the updater script and remove the check... or I could upload another version...
EDIT
bugger, the error is on the Carbon_togari zip isn't it, this is because DooMKernel is ported from the Z1, if you are coming from CM11 or Carbon for the GPe etc then the extra step shouldn't be needed.
um So new instructions:
Install:
Download and save Custom togari ROM to ZU_GPe
Download and save rom2togari_gpe to ZU_GPe
If you are running DooMKernel, do this:
extract boot.img from Custom togari ROM to desktop (or similar)
flash boot.img to the ZU_GPe using flashtool or fastboot.exe while phone is in fastboot mode
Boot into recovery
Wipe data and caches
Flash a custom togari ROM
Flash rom2togari_gpe
Reboot and pray
I hope that will work
Alright, I'll bite.
I'm backing up now, but just to make sure I understand:
I will:
1) Wipe/Format
2) Install [ROM][LB&UB] C68XX ★ monxDIFIED ★ ZUltra™ (442.757) BEST AROMA [v06-02][24/04] from the Android Dev Thread
3) Install rom2togari_gpe from your thread
4) Reboot
Right?
FAILURE
:crying:
rom2togari_gpe fails complaining this is for togari and my phone is a honami. (My phone is a togari_gpe, promise)

So I figure the Honami - Togari issue is because I'm using ZU_GPe-AdvStkKernel-KOT49H.S2.2052-v01 to do the flashing... for some reason it has a boot.img signature for the Honami - go figure. But I'm not sure how to get around this.
If I flash the boot.img from any other ROM (I tried CM11), then how do I flash the Custom Rom and Tool without a Custom Recovery? Do I do all this via adb/fastboot from my Mac?
Just trying, thanks for all the help.

Thanks for testing, I cant up load a version with out the check as my dev machine is down, but it will be back up over the weekend.
I think an easy fix for you would be the instructions just above (not the ones in OP) or to reboot back into recovery after flashing monx. All the kernels / boot.img should have recovery so you can flash the boot.img from the ROM zip... so:
Install:
Download and save Custom togari ROM to ZU_GPe
Download and save rom2togari_gpe to ZU_GPe
If you are running DooMKernel or if you get "This device is a honami" do this: <=== Read This Line

Boot into recovery
Wipe data and caches
Flash a custom togari ROM
Flash rom2togari_gpe
Reboot and pray
I hope that this works and we get a GPe running a modified Sony ROM. if it does work it will work on a pure Sony firmware
Again I have to say:
Code:
[B][SIZE="4"][COLOR="red"]
***********************************************
** **
** Never Flash a full FTF to a GPe Z-Ultra **

Thanks for the quick response
I'll try it tonight. But if I may - I do not believe that monx has a boot.img, I searched for it. As far as CM11, what you're telling me is that it's boot.img had it's own custom recovery and I should be able to flash the tool from there? As I understand it, the only way for me to boot into cwm or twrp was to hot boot into Doom's via flashtool. How else can I get the pick led so I can get in?
Am I just being dense or noob?
Thanks for your help,
Flipper

OK, it sort of makes sense that monxROM doesn't include the kernel. You could use jackie099's kernel or the port of DooMKernel for the togari. Both of these kernels have recovery built in (as should all custom ROMs). A CM11 kernel or one from/for a custom ROM will not boot Stock Sony or monx's ROM, nor the other way around so we have to get the correct kernel for the type of ROM you are flashing.
Once you have a custom kernel installed you can boot into recovery by pressing the vol up or down key when the LED lights during boot (could be pink, purple some other colour depending on the kernel)
Changed the install instructions in the OP again, I hope that it is clearer

Ok - so CM11 - Success! I used the boot.img from CM11 to Flashtool HotBoot into Recovery, and everything went as planned.
Monx - No Good, I was able to install the ROM, but when I ran the tool I got:

symlink: some symlinks failed
E: Error in /data/media/0/Download/rom2togari_gpe.zip

You do point out that we can't use a CM11 boot.img with Monx (I read that after I tried), is that it?
Could you please point me to a place I can get a good boot.img with custom recovery that will let me boot Monx correctly please? The only jackies099 one I found is for the non-GPe version - is this the one I should try?
Doom's is the one that reports the wrong phone type (Honami) right? So I'm not sure if I can use that one.
But I'm almost there... I'm going to keep trying some iterations.
One more question (noob): What's FTF? (I gather it's a ROM that includes Radio and/or other Partitions but I'd like to know an easier way to determine this so I don't screw up)
I've done many Android Custom ROMS installations/Mods but this is my first Sony, sorry.

Thank you,
Flipper

Getting there :victory: did cell, wifi and data work in togari cm11?
The status 7 error is my script not the kernel, so it looks like monx will be harder to crack than custom then, I'll have to create a separate version for stock based ROMs I think.
We need the kernel that will boot the system/ROM that we are installing, not a GPe when you flash monx's ROM ie jackie's one or the ported DooMKernel one (not the GPe version of DooMKernel). But with the status 7 error this may not work.
If you still have monx on the GPe you could just flash jackie's or the DooMKernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705130 and then see if it boots, the simlink errors might not be too important.

Cell, WiFi, Bluetooth worked didn't think to try regular data. Made a backup of Carbon then restored stock GPe ROM just fine. Can restore Carbon and test or should be able to restore and flash anything else you need tested.
edit.....cell data works but it seems auto rotate doesn't, tried toggling it off then on and looking for more than one place to set it but didn't find any others.
Required:
- Flashtool in the latest version from: http://flashtool.net
- DualRecovery by NUT as installer.zip: http://nut.xperia-files.com (Download the correct one for your device and at least version 2.8.1+!)
- Root on 23.0.A.2.93 (Download) for example with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/giefroot-rooting-tool-cve-2014-4322-t3011598
Featurelist:
- SuperSU integrated
- DualRecovery by NUT integrated (2.8.1)
Can be used on locked and unlocked bootloader.
Firmware Files:
D5803 and D5833
- Flashable.zip's and FTF files in folders - sorted by devices
The Flashable.zip i've created with the mighty tool PRFCreator by zxz0O0.
Installation/Update (short) guide:
0. Downgrade to the firmware 23.0.A.2.93 and root it (with giefroot)
0.1. Install the LockedDualRecovery by NUT with the installer.zip (install.bat)
1. Put the downloaded update file (ROM.zip) on your device. I recommend you to put it directly on the device.
2. Boot into the recovery (While rebooting -> when the info LED flashs -> press shortly the VOL button for the Recovery you prefer)
(On Recovery you may create a twrp/cwm backup of your device if you get any issues on updating process!)
3. Flash the ROM update file (.zip) with "install zip".
4. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (perhaps under advanced).
5. Reboot to system.
You may have to wait some minutes on the first boot because of initializing system for first time (optimizing apps etc.).
What to do if you get permission errors? (While installing for example the Recovery)
Untill NUT updates his DualRecovery you should fix permissions with ADB with the following commands:
(tested with command line from the giefroot_V...\files\ directory -> shift + right mouse -> open cmd "here")
Either you could try the modified DualRecovery (installer) by NUT (modified by monx): http://d-h.st/iM9p
Code:
adb push systemrw.sh /data/local/tmp
adb push modulecrcpatch /data/local/tmp
adb push wp_mod.ko /data/local/tmp
adb shell
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/systemrw.sh
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/modulecrcpatch
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/wp_mod.ko
su
cd /data/local/tmp
./systemrw.sh

Great , thanks! In case we can go back to totally stock? (For any case) And for lollipop I imagine will have to flash a rom, right?

The "ROM" i've opened to you on this thread is a stock rom (just with SuperSU and DualRecovery integrated).
There is the stock kernel inside why it runs on both. Locked and unlocked bootloader!

Two questions, the .93 fw was country specific, this update doesn't require a specific version?
I feel kind of clumsy asking this but i haven't found the meaning of "XZDR", what does it mean?

There's a problem with RIC on .5.77, making it impossible to mount system r/w. Nothing to do with root, as you can do other root actions just fine.
You just need to update XZDR, [NUT] just uploaded 2.8.1, which has been fixed for Z3C on .77. Also TWRP has been updated.
Edit: Sorry, see that you already updated OP for XZDR 2.8.1.

Just need to flash a zip, i dont need flash other files with Flashtools like .93 to .77 and to hold root access? Did tu flash it? what about blotware?
thanks thanks,
Yeah, I just flashed the zip. No other steps. I have root but cannot write to /system. I see no additional bloatware. Any disabled/frozen apps I did in 4.4.4 remained that way.
Could I just install the flash.zip from rooted .77?
Does anybody try this way?
Can i flesh the zip on my d5833

from what i understand you need to restore ta partition and lock up bootloader before updating to stock loli. but you can keep root with the method in the first post
So, just flash the ZIP? Does it overwrite current installed apps? No need to flash kernel and everything else from an ftf file?
How to keep root?
I'm currently on 23.0.1.A.5.77 rooted with no custom recovery installed
Can someone explain me in a simplest way how to upgrage do Lollipop and keep roooted?

I think you could try to install NUT recovery using the installer for Windows (you have root, so adb commands should work), then flashing this firmware over the one you're using.
Hi guys, thanks for all your posts, I currently have kk version 5.77, pre rooted and dual recovery working, I would like to try this lollipop release pre rooted, I am aware of the inability to use dual recovery, however I will still try it if there is a way to revert back to the release compatible with giefroot, anyone that could help me with this, it will be highly appreciated.

Hey guys after my initial failure at trying to upgrade to 575 at the weekend, I didn't realize 575 was a MM upgrade so that was partly the problem the rest was the wrong SU and recovery in my PRF flash file.
Problem I have now is i've read that many forum posts im not 100% sure what files and steps I need to take , every 575 flash instructions Ive read seem to have slightly different ways of doing it.
Im coming from 23.4.A.1.264 (LL) What i need help is to clarify exactly what i need to make a successful prf upgrade.
Im assuming Recroot is one in the recovery section of PRF?
So called dummy file in SU section of PRF?
What about bootloop.zip and RIC.zip I hear about , are they required as well?
I know xposed needs to be uninstalled as well.
LOCKED bootloader
Thx for any help/links or clarification on steps you can provide.
edit:- Sorry mods this is in wrong section, wasnt paying attention , Sorry could someone move to QA section ? thx

...went through this two days ago:
(from this post, that helped me):
prerequisities: 5.1.1 stock, rooted, with NUT Dual recovery
put all ZIPs to your MicroSD card and flash in this order.
0: do you currently have xposed? If yes, get the xposed uninstaller (google it, easy to find) and flash uninstaller first.
0. Factory reset from within current recovery (Dalvik, data, cache...)
1. flashablemm.zip
2. byeselinux.zip
3. ricdefeat.zip
4. bootloopfix.zip (FOR .575, important to get this version)
5. xposed installer.zip
6. reboot
7. INSTALL BUSYBOX (get app in PlayStore and use it to install it)
8. enable unknown sources and usb debugging
9. then connect your phone to the PC and run the install.bat from the Z2_MM_Recovery folder (Accept any prompt popping up on your phone)
5. Phone will reboot into recovery when successfull, then you're done
ZIP files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/z2-pre-rooted-twrp-3-0-0-2-xposed-t3390498
RECOVERY INSTALL: from here https://mega.nz/#!UlxGBQaD!HObJIHr9vq4VDRNI97Ni1cIiAn6iVxwE4qlPa89CGbY - Remember: only install the recovery from this file, everything else from the thread above.
NOTE: I had big problems when flashing TWRP 3.0.x IMG file from this thread. Instead get the recovery downloaded in this ZIP and install it form your PC, as described in the steps above.
One more note: I've waited for about 15minutes after finishing the flashing proces (step6). I had the startup animation going on, normally it should take maybe 5-10minutes. I got fed up after nothing was happening and restarted the phone - press the red button beside SIM flap and than power on the phone. After that it started normally.
thx i'll look into this

Download G8342_MY_47.1.A.8.49 .rar according to this post, it contains latest ROM and newflasher
You need to install drivers for flashtool. It may be a little tricky and it was soooo long ago I set it up myself I simply do not remember. Google it. Maybe This or http://www.**********.com/setup-androxyde-flashtool-sony-xperia-devices-windows/may help.
With drivers installed:
Turn off phone. Hold Vol down while connecting USB to computer (Green light on phone). Open commandprompt on computer and cd to unpacked G8342_MY_47.1.A.8.49 .rar directory. Run
Code:
newflasher.exe
.
This installs lastest stock kernel and firmware.
When finished reboot phone
Download DRMPatck package , unpack it and move the three zip files to phone

Green pictures are because you unlocked bootloader. Will be fixed by DRMFix.
your device hes been unlocked and can"t be trusted-message will allways be there on unlocked BL
Turn off phone
Download twrp-3.2.1-0-poplar-1-patchlevel-2017-12-01.img and move the file to the same directory on computer where flashtool is installed
Commect the phone to computer USB while holding Vol UP (Blue light on phone)

Disconnect phone.

Flash DRMFix according to OP.

Thank you so much pergoteborg
I followed the instructions and my phone works well and the camera works without problems
Before the operation you have repaired the phone system on a program ( emma )
:good::good::good:
The only remaining problem is developer options and not a necessity

I changed the phone language from Arabic to English and the developer options worked well
I can confirm that the method of M-Rom works perfectly fine for my G8341 Xperia XZ1 with Android 8.0.0.
Additionally I wanted to add: For those who did not already solve the Google USB driver phenomenon for fastboot to detect Sony devices: See here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/issues/guide-how-to-install-fastboot-xperia-t2170114. This is the guide I followed to do it. You can get the file needed for that guide here, as the link provided there is no longer active: https://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/fastboot-driver/
Thanks a bunch M-Rom and sToRm// for saving my phones life (and mine, too :good: )

Yes, you're exactly right. Boot into the unlocked bootloader:
Adb reboot bootloader
(Next command)
Fastboot flash recovery name/and/location/of/recovery/image.img
Not sure if hdr+ works as I believe it uses api2 (I could be way wrong on that name) but I believe it uses something that this device doesn't support but I could be wrong.
DRM ricoff reactivates the Sony features and the Sony camera to full functionality. Basically once you've flashed TWRP then you can flash the root and DRM fix and you have root and fully working camera and features even though you've lost the DRM keys. The only difference between this method and the method created by Storm for the XZP is that on the XZP you can backup the TA partition whereas we haven't figured out how to do that yet but the result is still exactly the same.
Hey, can i flash Magisk instead of SuperSU, or does the DRM Fix need SuperSU to work?
Unfortunately the DRM fix needs SuperSU to work, the package comes with a special version of SuperSU to make it work. Hopefully if @aledoom gets some time he can try build a new version of the Andro+ kernel for our phone running the latest 8.49 firmware that will support Magisk and the DRM fix. He doesn't own an xz1 himself so testing isn't easy butt I'm sure one of us will be happy to help with that. I know I will for sure.
If he gets a working kernel built then we can have the DRM fix with Magisk instead of SuperSU, which I think we all would love.
The problem is that Magisk doesn't work on the stock kennel. In fact it causes a bootloop so don't try flashing it.

Yes, it is working. Tested it with my G8341 XZ1 with latest firmware on 8.0.0.
Camera works again and you can set the X-Reality display saturation again.

If you're having trouble installing the fastboot / flashmode drivers from Sony because of driver signing issues, the answer should never be to disable driver signing altogether.
Instead you should look at the answer here and use the open-source tool it describes to install the driver with a self-signed certificate.
Of course, Sony should be doing a better job and releasing signed drivers so we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.
