I have Hairybean ROM on my TFP and have been happy with it but I just bought a Miracast Wifi dongle so I can stream to my TV and it cannot seem to see the wifi SSID created by the dongle. Does the transformer has the appropriate hardware to support miracast and if so, what ROM will allow me to enable miracast (or if all ROMs do, how do I enable it?)
Thansk in advance.

to stream videos from windows 7 to my ps3?
not using the internet just using the prime's hotspot feature
Why do you want to use the tfp as hotspot instead of just setting up an ad-hoc connection on your windows 7 machine and connect your ps3 directly to it!
I don't understand why someone would want to use the prime as a hotspot. it as no cellular data and any device you would point to your prime could obviously hook up to what ever wireless ap your prime would have. am i missing something here?

? again, I want to stream media from my laptop on to my ps3. I notice the prime has a hotspot feature so me not being tech swavy I figured I connect the laptop to the prime and the ps3 to the prime to share media
Like I said you don't need the prime your laptop has a hotspot feature as well. Just go to the network center add a connection create an ad-hoc connection give it a name and password done. Now connect your ps3 to the network and start streaming.
I just got a Netgear Push2TV 3000, which not only encompases WiDi, but Miracast support in this version.
From what my indersstand is though, is that both these WiDi and Miracast technologies are basically just wireless HDMI anyway.
My question is if it's possible to come up with a mod to work to allow any (or at least most) rooted phones with a ROM like CM that intergrate Miracast into their settings for every build?
Just wondering if this was possible. This would be a really welcomed feature,
PS...I did try doing just that with my droid 4 running CM 10,1 with its wifi direct setting..it said it was connectining, anazingly...but nothing else after that. =/
Anyway, if anybody know if **** is at all possoble accomplish, please let me know, if you could. Thanks.
Hey there. Connecting via WiFi Direct through the Settings menu only sets up the layer 3 connection. To make a function like Miracast work, you need a Miracast-supported app to sit on top of WiFi Direct. MiraCast is a standard that is certified by the same governing body as the one that certifies WiFi Direct, so MiraCast is actually built on top of WiFi Direct. WiDi is an Intel led standard that nobody uses.
i would love to see an app capable of this be developed, it would be awesome to be able to display the screen on my phone on the TV without wires
Hi,
Since kexec kernel for XT910 can't support HDMI for now.
I'm planing to buy Miracast device to display to TV.
But some questions I wish to know in advance.
XT910 / CM11 20140206 nightly / CM11 stock kernel
1. Can I still have WiFi internet connection while Miracast to TV?
2. When display to TV, sound will output to (a) TV only or (b) TV and XT910 both?
Sorry for my English and thank you.
Is this possible? Thought of before? I've seen threads looking for direct connect I.e HDMI input socket on tablet but what about streaming a HDMI source to tablet over local WiFi ?
Hi:
I hope to determine if the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530R4 HARDWARE supports USB OTG before I attempt to create a modified kernel to enable it. My phone is rooted, the OTG test app(s) indicate the Android 5.1.1 OS software supports USB OTG. Does anyone know a reliable method for doing this? Any App?
Thanks, Tom
After some investigation I realize I do not have the computer resources to build an Android kernel. Hopefully another solution will become available.
I found this website that apparently can tell you if a phone has hardware support:
https://www.gsmarena.com
Find your phone then scroll down to the "COMMS" section:
WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot
Bluetooth 4.1, A2DP, LE, aptX
GPS Yes, with A-GPS, GLONASS
NFC Yes
Infrared port Yes
Radio No
USB microUSB 2.0, USB Host
If it has USB Host then supposively the phone hardware supports OTG. The Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530R4 apparently does not. I`ll just have to get a phone that does support OTG.
