Hello there people!
I've installed a custom rom and would like to add some apps as system apps.
I thought I'd use Root Explorer to do this.
I copied my apps to SD-card, and from there to /system/app/ and changed permissions.
Still, my apps does not come up in my launcher.
Have I done anything wrong?
Thanks for the help!

If the apps you install are not compatible with the android version you're using they won't show up. The quickest way to check this is to doubleclick the .apk on the sd-card and see if it will install.. They will be in your user/app if they do, but you can move them from there to /system/app if you want. If they give an error when installing they're not compatible.

They are compatible with the Androidversion, that much I know.
But they will not install if I doubleclick on them. That didn't work with another rom either, but it worked installing them using Root Explorer.

If it worked they would show up in your launcher.. If they won't install using the 'normal' method, they are not compatible with your phone.

Is it really a difference between MiniCM7 and a ROM based on MiniCM7?
Those apps works on MiniCM7 then, but not on another ROM based on it.

Hey guys,
I'm running Checkrom v6 which is amazing, but I'm missing two Samsung apps. Namely, Accuweather.com and the Mini Diary/Notes widget.
Can't find them in the Market - where can I download them from?
Cheers

I saw this but I was trying to do it without having to install ALL of the bloatware. Does anyone know of a way to just get the 2 widgets?
Anyone??

For some reason they wouldn't install. I checked 'Unknown Sources' in Application settings before doing it, but when I tried to install them they just said 'Application not installed'.
Any ideas?
download root exploer and copy the apk into your system apps folder
You may need to mount /system rw before you install. Get an app called Remount from Market (free) & use it to mount /system rw. Then try installing the apps you're having installation problems with.
Hmmm, using Root explorer to copy the files over did the trick for the Mini Paper app, but the accuweather app isn't working. The app I downloaded from the site sm625614 linked to is only 25kb... perhaps there's another app that it relies on?

Only the launcher and some misc apps work. Apps that don't work now won't likely work ever.
ok, thanks for the info
I want to use an apk file from the stock firmware in a custom rom that's based on the the same stock rom so i copied it into system/apps and set permissions and installed it but it tells me that application not installed.
I tried apktool and i used framework apks to start with from the custom rom then i decompiled my desired apk file and built it
then i took it to my phone and tried to install it but "application not installed" was what I got again
so what should i do ? this problem happens alot when taking apk from one rom to another rom .
U mean after push into system then u install it again?
-,,-
After put on system/app n set the correct permission, JUST REBOOT YOUR PHONE. No need to install again with native installation.

when I do that , application is not installed, It's because the apk file is taken from anothe rom

If they are system apps, you can't just install them.
Needs root.
Grab a root browser, find the file u want to install.
Move or copy it and paste it in system/app
Then "set the permissions" and reboot.
Not all apps work, they might be device specific!

I got sick and tired of SONY's bloatware. I uninstall them all(appXtra, UEFA.com, Mcaffee security, wisepilot), but after I reboot my phone, all of them gets installed.
Any solution to this?
I'm going to install custom ROM this weekend anyway. But would like to know the solution to that problem.
PS:I rooted my Neo V

Install Root Explorer and delete the apk's from System and you wont't get them back at reboot
PS - save yourself the trouble because weekend is here and you'll be installing a custom ROM

LOL. Already installed root explorer. Too bad that I don't know how to use it. I better like to know the apks which are safe to remove

Its really simple man
1. open root explorer( obviously ur phone shud be rooted to use this)
2. then open system folder.
3. then open app folder.
4. then u will see all the apps u get with the phone.
5. delete appxtra(anything u want)
.
If the apps dont delete .
there will be an option on top "R/O'
make it 'R/W'
then start deleting.
Please hit'thanks' if i helped
The WisePilot and the others can be found at "system/etc/product/applications"

AW: Tired of SONY's bloatware
Take a look at link to SD. If you have root on your phone its a fine app.
It lists you all system apps on you phone and offers a uninstall option. Very easy and no browsing with root explorer.

i had your problem too on stock. You uninstall them and on reboot they install themselves. I couldnt find a solution for this until I tried system cleanup and sdmaid. I cleanedup everything and they never showed up again. But in my opinion stop using original stock and flash a rom. (you dont have to unlock your bootloader to do that for most roms .)
Hey use neoMaid 1 ...it can be found in themes and apps...it removes and optimizes phone in one flash.....totally trouble free...
