What to get to replace a Razr MAXX? - Motorola Droid RAZR

As my razr maxx is Deceased to be recovered in the months to come i decided to buy something new. And as i live abroad and prices are diferent than what you guys would find in the USA i can buy any of the following:
-MOTO G (Cheap and efficient but find it ugly and with no 4g, seems stupid to buy a new phone without 4g, GPU 305 adreno) - 326ppi. R$ 699 - U$ 299
-XPERIA SP (Good, not cheap, but with 4G but no guarantees of upgrade to 4.4 - nice GPU 320 adreno) - 319ppi. R$ 999 - U$ 416
-LUMIA 625 (Cheap and with 4G BUT its WP8 and i have no experience with it and it has a low ppi screen - 200ppi) GPU 305 adreno. R$ 799 - U$ 332
And dont say MOTO X because it would go almost U$ 550, Different realities.
So, any hints?
Thanks guys.

Maybe wait for Xperia z1 compact? Wait for good price

The Xperia SP looks pretty awesome IMO. That price tag though..

Is the Nexus 5 in question? IMO there isn't anything better for its price right now.

Is the lg g2 available there? That was my upgrade from a razr maxx. I couldn't imagine having to go back to a phone that needs to be charged every day.

Gonna buy a new phone

What phone is the best? My bugdet is 300 Euros. Please help.
For 395 you can get the Samsung Nexus unbranded. For 300 and best one, well you can see ebay.
I went from x8 to Xperia Play, no regrets. There are many superior phones, but for your budget you cant have the best ones. I also had 300 euros so I considered play and arc s, I'm a sony fanboy yes. In my opinion arc s is the best choice out of those two, but I really value the fisical controls pad, it is so much better than gaming on sceen!
I would buy Xperia S but I don't have that much money

Dell Venue is the best, and I am also planning to have Venue, the 4" screen, 8MP camera...
You should have a loot at it.
I heard Alcatel launced a really good and cheap phone: Alcatel One Touch 995 (OT-995). It offers a 1,4 Ghz single-core processor, a screen of 4,3 inch, a 5 megapixel camera, and a great back (in my opinion). If you buy the phone seperately, it will only cost you around $240. Well, I live in the Netherland, and here, it's really cheap for such a nice phone
My Samsung Galaxy Gio just died yesterday, so I might pick up one soon The only sad thing is there's not a XDA forum-section for that phone yet, so searching for ROMs will take some more time...
buy whatever brand you want but dont get a single core
buy samsung galaxy s2 (a bit more than your budget, i know its a budget but still)
or lg p990 or wait for gs3
then these will go down in price, just one or two months
ohh you already have p990, wait for quadcore dude or buy gs2
Depending on the 3g network frequency your carrier uses i would recommend a samsung galaxy s captivate (230$) or motorola atrix (340$) but before you buy any phone check the hsdpa/wcdma frequency

Best low-spec (1GHz, 512MB max) device for a developer?

So I'm about to upgrade my Galaxy Tab 8.9 to a Nexus 7. It's very exciting because of Tegra 3, but at the same time this means I will be testing my games on a super high spec product, so I won't be able to tell if they run slowly on most phones. Instead of keeping my 8.9 I'm going to try and get a quite low spec Android phone/mp3 player so I can test my stuff on the Nexus and then on a very low spec device to compare. I thought I'd ask you guys who probably know a little more about Android than me for some recommendations. Here are the requirements:
- Must not cost more than £130 (happy to buy used). The cheaper the better. I'd like to stay below £100 if I can help it.
- Maximum spec is 1GHz CPU 512MB RAM. No more powerful than this please. The less powerful the better (within reason!)
- Screen resolution 480 x 800 or similar.
- I don't need to use it as a phone, so an MP3 player or tablet will be fine.
- Obviously it must have a GPU, for compatibility with OpenGL 2.0.
Any suggestions?
I think some eBay hunting will yield some used Galaxy S phones, any variant for $150 or less which should be €120 (I think?)

That's by Huawei? It costs quite a lot more than I wanted to pay...
Look on ebay and find something used or see if anything is for sale here. You should have no problem finding something.
Try the ZTE SCORE X500 on Amazon it's $60-70 dollar's.
Any apps or games I installed work fine no lag or problems.
And it runs 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
Not sure about OPEN GL.
Only problem is the phone has no sim card and it has a proprietary micro-SD card. But it you root it you can fix that no problem.

HD2, Desire? Relatively weak and with lots of ROMs to test your software on.
desire series... desire, desire z, desire s... don't buy the desire hd though...

i didn't mean to mock you or to offend you in any kind of way
The HTC Desire does seem to be the best one to go for. I had a Desire HD for testing a little while ago. Slightly too much RAM otherwise was good for testing. The ZTE one seems good but the resolution is much too slow. The original HTC Desire has the exact specs I need, I will have a look at the best price I can get that one for
There are 2 more ZTE phones on Amazon under $100 check those out. Don't remember their names.
The Samsung Vitality check that out.

Wanna buy my HTC Wildfire?
- 768 mHz overcocked
- i don't know about the ram
- unlocked
- used for around 7 months
Thanks Leon but Wildfire is too low res, and my Girlfriend's old Wildfire is still lying around somewhere (bloody awful phone IMO!)
Something like the Droid X or Milestone X, they sold a lot back in 2010 and now that is been 2 years there should be a lot of them for sale. It has 1Ghz single core, 512MB RAM, 854x480 display
I was thinking of keeping my HTC evo for ROM development purposes, but if my parents OK it I can sell my HTC Evo 4g for $100-$150 im thinking of. ive seen it go for $200 on amazon lately. its 1GHZ snapdragon, 512MB ram, and i believe its 800x480. it also has only a couple hundred MB of space also. im almost ready for an upgrade, so I can use the $$$ to save money to my custom build Linux PC later this year.
I would go for the good ole g1.. Or mytouch 3g

Overpriced?

After reading about the One X+ I was considering picking one up as I loved my One X, until I saw the price..
I noticed the retail price for the HTC One X+ seems to be around £480, how can HTC justify this price? You can pick up a brand new sim free One X for around £350 now, so what's so special about the One X+ to warrant the extra £130+ price difference?
From what I can see of you're paying extra for a 0.2Ghz CPU boost, slighly bigger battery and bit of extra storage. Same size, same screen, no SD card slot, no extra RAM, no removable battery.
I would have loved to get this device, but I can warrant the huge price jump for such minimal improvement.
One X was the same price when it launched.

few minor improvements?
Study the benchmarks and specs ! it's quite a difference.
Price will drop eventually to compete with S3 and others. This will be the best smartphone on the market when it launches. The new CPU inst only faster but more efficient... Which improves battery life considerably in this phone. It has double the storage so for the bestnpgone around I find it reasonably priced for launch.

Don't agree, it's possible the Nexus 4 will launch before or around the same time as the One X + (I heard 29th October?) And that will triumph over this.
As for the CPU in the One X+ I read it's supposed to be 60% faster than the original One X, is this true? How does this work considering it still uses the same Tegra 3? Or does it use a different variation that I'm not aware of?
The lack of 2gb of RAM concerned me the most though, after using the Note 2 for a while now I've gotten used to not having to force close load of background processes, I would have thought HTC would have crammed an extra GB in there.

It uses a different CPU. Ita not the same tegra 3.
As for the Nexus 4... It looks its not intended to compete with the powerhouses... Being based in the optimus G I dont expect the camera to be any great... Also its not quad core and overall its a lower speced cellphone.
The note 2 is great yes but uts a phablet... The Droid Dna is intended to compete on that level (and thriumph with that LCD 3 1080p screen) not the X+.

Low spec? The Nexus 4 has a Quad core Snapdragon S4 CPU, 2gb RAM and a 768 x 1280 display which is rumoured to be Super LCD 2.
Technically speaking, it out performs all other phones out right now and will be the most powerful phone when its released.
The HTC one X+ is not overpriced it costs as much as any flagship phone excluding iPhone 5 which costs £530. Yes their are some flagships phones which are cheaper like the LG nexus 4 which is rumoured by carphone warehouse to cost £380. Even if the update was minor a flagship phone should still cost the same as the previous flagship.
I wouldn't recommend you to buy any flagship phone when they are released because they are all overpriced, I've always felt that £350 was enough but it obviously isn't for a flagship. I would recommend you wait till the price drops on 2nd hand phones like the HTC one X which you can buy in new condition for £300 on eBay. But if you want to buy it from a retailer then you will waste a lot of money.
I can remember checking the price of the HTC one X few months ago it was being sold for £350 new on eBay, now it's much cheaper. I might buy the HTC one X+ when it costs the same on eBay as the one X. The HTC sensation xe sells in eBay with beats headphones which tu whet with for £280 with that you can buy the one X so you are upgrading from a previous flagship to another for free. But bearing in mind you will have to buy it after 6 months by then another flagship will release so you'll be updating your HTC every six months for free or you may have to spend an extra £75 on top. But for a that price you will be getting a lot of new features.
I might buy the HTC one X+ when its cheap but I'm not a fan of the camera bump, polycarbonate, and the loudspeaker and screen size 4.3 is perfect not to wide not to long.

2GB of RAM sounds really good, but other than that how exactly does it outperform the One X+?
Early reviews of it report rather low Benchmark ratings. It doesn't even get close to the original One X. I know this is subject to change at launch, but it would need to almost double their scores to rival the One X+ in Quadrant for example.
I also don't have high hopes with the camera considering how average the LG Optimus G performs.
I don't know where did you get the rumor of an LCD 2 screen but right now, HTC makes the best screens on the market. Currently this crown is held by the HTC J Butterfly (Japan) whose International similar should be the Droid X or Droid DNA.
The internal storage of the X+ is 64GB. The leaked prototype of the Nexus 4 is 8GB (Wtf Google... seriously...) and they don't have an SD slot either. It will be lucky if the final build has 16GB... let alone 32.
And I could go on about design, sound...
All in all, I'm not saying the Nexus 4 will be a bad phone. Heck it will probably be one of the best in the $400 dollar neighbourhood, but don't expect it to rival the One X+ and Optimus G in terms of performance and overall.
I expect the One X+ to be the best phone of 2012 unless Google has something under the hood we don't know about, and the Droid X (if it makes it for 2012) the best 5 inch+ smartphone (or phablet?) of the year. (Leaked specs talk about 2GB of Ram, Quad Core snapdragon, and of course an absolutely killer LCD 3 1080p 440ppi 5 inch screen) Technically speaking, is as big as a jump as the retina display was when the new iPad launched.

The your right that's what I'm arguing about to HTC one X with jelly bean beats the sg3 check gsm arena and the only think about the gs3 thats batter is the battery which the HTC one X+ will solve. The only reason why I don't want to buy one X+ is because of the 40nm and lack of 4g in the UK and the camera should be flat instead of a bump.
Now the thing I don't like about the one x+ is the camera bump it is the same just a red ring, instead they should have made it flat that is what you call a model improvement they fixed the internal problems but didn't bother with the external which is a shame. I want to see the one X+ succesor with a flat camera, tegra 4 (quad a15 28nm 24gpu) and a really loud and clear loud speaker. I don't think we will see that without the screen increasing which is a shame.
All I want is that hardware to improve but why do they have to increase the screen size every year small and powerful beats the lot 4.3 is perfect. Next year all flagships will have 5". I will probably have to jump ship to wp8.

I think it is overpriced. Not to compare it to the nexus 4, but its a one x refresh, the price shouldnt be that high.

[Q] Xperia P prototype

Hello,
I looked for used phone and I found this: http://allegro.pl/unikalna-sony-xperia-p-lt22i-prototyp-jak-nowy-i4016215524.html . Price - about 100 euro.
I read it has got android 2.3.5 beta and I've noticed some buttons (?) on the left side of phone. Is it good choice? What should I expect from this phone? Everything working well or bad cover, screen/something else?
Not a good choice for about or around 100 euro.u can expect freeze and unexpected shutdown.I wouldn't go for prototype for daily use.

Sony ericsson xd
100 € in country where base Nokia x costs 140 € and where you need to pay 720 € for base iPhone 5s is a good price.
I know more than something about freezes because I own LG L5 which has got 0.8 GHz single core processor (antutu score - from 2890 to 3300) and I had LG GT540 with orange brand (worst possible - shutdowns in every week).
Phone on photos looks like for daily use.

heh, the main diferrence is you can buy g2 everywhere without problem, with oneplus one there is some ****ty invites program so you can't buy this phone "just like that" :good:
You can use G2 with one hand
why compare a phablet to a phone.
Might as well compare a family car to a sports car.
im excited for both. I love my G2 and I also love my other smart phones but if I get accepted I will be smashing the hell out of whatever they want me to in order to get one of these phones

Phfffff, so what? LG G3 will smash 1+1 to thin layer of dough
I'm very excited about this OnePlus One and actually i have to decide between this and the G2.
Problem is: i think the O+O will be better (better hardware and good design) BUT it will be nearly impossible to get one in time (and i say "in time" because now i have no smartphone at all in my pocket). I will wait a weeks or two, then i will pass it.
The G2 is a much safe choice. Its hardware is very good, battery is very good and the price is quite ok. And it is available without any smashing contests or strange invite systems. But for the same price of a 16 GB LG G2, the O+O is 64 GB and it's a lot of memory. Plus, in the stock 16 GB G2 there are just 8-9 GB of free space and i don't like that.
tl;dr: i will try the O+O way but if it will be to difficult to buy i will buy a G2.
Oh, and i will definitely not wait the LG G3. The G2 is enough and it is not so expensive.
I think O+O is better but it depend on when you can buy it?
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
I find the one+ to be nice phone but not that much of an upgrade from the g2, the 801 is not that much of an grade from the 800. Now the new 808/810 now those are and will be a massive upgrade.
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk
O+O looks nice but until we get hands on reviews from Phonearena/GSMArena we wont know. For example the Sony Xperia Z has a bigger battery than HTC Butterfly/DNA but the Xperia Z eats through batttery a lot faster. The Xperia Z takes worse photos than the same Sony made sensors with less megapixels in Galaxy S4 and iPhone5/s, (O+O is also using a Sony Exmor sensor) so software optimization is important for performance/camera/audio/battery life. Until reviews come out its hard to know if its good or bad.
they should make the cm11s as an official rom. the camera looks nice especially for cm11s. id probably smash my phone for it,but, not for a 16gb. i have 32gb and will not settle for anything less than that
