You're saying that you want to have a front facing camera on the Vibrant? If someone has a way of doing so my best bet is to take the Galaxy S 4G front camera since the Vibrant and the Galaxy S 4G are identical

The Galaxy's FFC is known to do banding on the Vibrant, you would need to get the REV2.0 version of the camera.
I picked up one on eBay some time ago, just do a search for "Samsung I9000 Galaxy S Front and Rear Camera Lens Flex Cable Replacement" The one I got is Rev2.0 so no banding. The seller I bought from is wwon_one and they still seem to have them while using that search.
You can follow this tutorial for the install
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyGNJ0lIug8
Then go here for the flashable zip file for the FFC mod for the Vibrant. I've had no issues with it when I upgrade to new ROMs.
Hope that helps.

Unfortunately there really is no way to fix the banding issues if you didn't get the REV2.0 cameras, the link for the video I posted the video creator was selling then for awhile, but I don't see it anymore on there site.

[Q] Just getting green image with my new ffc (Vibrant)

I just install ffc on my vibrant. I was very excited that the installation went smooth until....First I got "camera failed" so I reinstalled the camera. Then the rear camera work ok, but the front camera just show a green image.
I'm using Bionix v1.3.1 and I also installed ffc_mod.zip prior of getting the camera from Hong Kong. I haven't found anyone with the same problem. I been reading different threats, but...
I also reinstall ffc_mod.zip
Another thing I try was to replace sgs-t959 for gt-i9000 using sgstools.
I also install mirror for Samsung S, and the picture is green, too.
Any ideas?

you think???
Sounds like another Chinese win in quality computer goods.
On a serious note though it really does sound like dead hardware.
Based on what you have described in your steps alone it sounds like almost not at all software related. Time to get a new one.

Hey! I'm chinese.
Seriously! man! I will have to wait again. Oh, well. Thanks guys.
I was just joking, I'm actually a ninja.
I agree that it sounds like a hardware issue. If it were software, I think the issue would more likely be that it wouldn't be detecting the camera at all. Let alone a GSOD.

Problem with the camera?

I have a problem with the camera, meaning that as soon as I open the application I hear a noise (two shots) and if I look at the camera in the meantime, I see that the sensor moves. What can I do?
I have a Litening 1.2!
Thanks

I dont think that is a Problem had that clicking to on other phones its the lens that focuses, clicking 2 times when you aktivate the camera and when you switch
to Video mode,
The problem with the Cam for me is the real bad Focus, its almost imposible to scan barcodes etc. with google googles , etc..
im on newst Cam Firmware !
got 2 with this camera noise and 3 without.
no clue if it's okay ? why different... other lenses ?

Did you update through Samsung apps on your phone?
If not, you might have installed a wrong version that doesn't match up with the cam hardware in your phone.
I'm not sure if this a valid reason, but there are some different cams out there which need different firmware versions

this is mostly because there are at least 3 different cam manufacturers, you can see this clearly because of their different firmware versions (which is of course vendor specific)!

ya, that clicking is part of your problem, it is sitting to far out and can't go back. It shouldn't smack the housing and make clicking noises. I have this issue to, might send it it to be fixed or wait for replacement parts to become available.
Same problem but worst
Me and a buddy of mine both bought the 9100 together of the same shlef. Mine does the clicking sound and his doesn't. But my problem is worst here because it seems that no photo outside of 20cm range comes out in focus.
I am just unable to take a decent photo of anything further than this.
Could a FW fix solve this? how do i know what is my cam mode is? and which FW belongs to it?
LT
I also have issue with the camera: the auto focus is not working at all.
I can't tell if it's after flashing litening 1.2 or if it has always been the case...
I have applyed the samsung camera firmware upgrade.
hmmm...i think when designgears says the clickcklick sound of the camera is a defect, then it is one
i can't really belive in this vendor specific camera moduls for a noise reason... that whould be just to much quaility difference if samsung is doing that ?!

I and 4 of my friends have the phone One with litening Rom1.2 the others all have stock one of them made yesterday the firmware update the other 2 not
and we all have the clicking sound !!
can it be that so many devices have this defective cam,
and non of us coud get a good focus on close distances 10 - 15 cm
I just caled samsung support Austria and they sayd the clicking is normal !
I also have the clicking from the beginning and i havent experienced any Problems. Neither with Barcodes nor with photos. But to be sure someone should test the exact same scenes with 2 devices and post the results.
I dont really remember but i think the clicking just started after the Camera Firmware Update.
I have clicking with camera360 app and no clicking with standard camera .....
Focusses perfect down to 10 cm even when then going to max zoom
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
how can i test if it is focusing good ? which mode and settings ? thx
Clicking sound; no problems.
It looks like the clicking is a symptom
It looks like the clicking is a symptom, and what I think it means is that the lens is not sitting in its right position.
I assume that the further the lens sits from its intended position, the worst the focus will be.
All in all, if the lens sits pretty close to its intended position then the photos will come out good even though you hear clicking.
On the other hand, other people might be less lucky and the lens position will be totally off and so will not be able to take decent photos at all...
This is of course my theorem, not my knowledgeable absolute...
It's funny how the clicking of the camera is ALWAYS an issue with every new phone for some people. Many phones have it (not only the SGS2) and it's normal. Some people might have problems with the camera and the focus, but it has nothing to do with the clicking sound. It's just the camera's initialization.

HELP!! Warning: Camera Fail

Okay, so, I just noticed today that my camera no longer works. It was working a few days ago, but, no... death. Did some skulking around XDA and other forums. I thought it MIGHT be caused by something going wrong when I flashed Passion v6.5... so, I reflashed Passion v4 (it used to work fine), nothing. ODIN back to stock... nothing. Are there any other tips out there besides the obvious, and fatal, hardware issue? It would be a ton of help. Thanks.
Try using a differnt camera. There is one in the market today for .10cents
Camera ZOOM FX
For a dime it might provide a solution to your needs or an enlightenment that it may in fact be a hardware issue.
Exactly how is the camera not working? F/c? Doesn't open..etc.? When you flashed did you factory reset, clear cache and data? Have you tried using a camera app?
Same thing happened to me a while back, tried replacing the camera, still didn't work. I:
/notaproblemwithicspassion.
Stuff I've tried;
- I had two Vibrants, tried replacing it. (Worked for a little, then same error.)
- Mounting and unmounting it.
- Flash back to stock, update camera.
- Different camera apps.
- CM7/MIUI/ICS/FROYO
Unfortunately there is not a lot of options. If you can find someonw with a bricked vibrant you could offer to buy the camera. If you get o replacement camera off ebay then more then likely your going to have some banding issues( lines thru your pictures). There is a website (mobiletechvideos.com) that sells replacement cameras that arent supposed to have banding issues. Ive never dealt with them, so I cant say for sure. Mine stopped workin a while back, kept saying "camera fail". I replaced it with one off ebay. It works but i have terrible banding in anything but bright light. There are some videos on you tube on how to replace the camera. Good luck!

So you bought one off ebay and it's working. (Sort of?)
Mind linking me to where you bought it?
I'll link later when I get to my pc. I just typed samsung vibrant replacement camera into ebay. After I replaced it it worked for a day then it's got the camera fail message. Then about 2weeks went by and it started working again. I have no idea why.

This purchased item information is no longer available.
There are a number of reasons why this information isn't available. The most common reason is that item details for purchases are not kept for more than 90 days.
Hm.. heh.
For those asking, when the camera is opened, all it says is 'Warning: Camera Failed'. I've come to the conclusion that it's a software issue somewhere. After starting this thread, the camera came back to life a few hours later. After flashing a new ROM, same thing. I'm going to see if I can isolate a fix.
I have to bang my camera on a hard surface like furniture or a rock and it works. Could be both.

Lolz, please stopping abusing your servant.
Maybe you guys should try to use titanium backup to clear the data and uninstall the camera apk. Then, odin back to stock. Be sure to wipe both caches and factory reset before flashing another rom.
Good luck

Zero Shutter Lag?

I have searched around & cant seem to find much on this everything seems to keep coming up for the Nexus or S3.
Is zero shutter lag possible on the S2?
Thanks
no, it's hardware thing not software modification.

Come on man....Don't give him false information -.-
Of course you can add it. You can also increase the resolution of the phone, the size of the screen. And last but not least this site will show you how to get your phone to make you a sandwich!

Have a nice day!
Quite a few years ago back when cameras on phones were starting to become the norm, a friend was looking in a phone shop. He was looking at a fairly basic phone which didn't have a camera. A salesman then came over and told him that whilst the phone he was looking at didn't have a camera, he could download one afterwards. The same salesman told me that the phone's screen could display 64k colours. I told him that I don't think I could even name 64 colours, let alone 64 thousand. Fun times.
I heard you can download a bigger battery onto your phone too (full instructions here)
= please delete =
yes its possible to have zero lag

No, s2 plus has different hardware, it's not using exynos chip and the camera sensor is different too.. so yeah, we just can't add zero shutter lag to old s2 cause it's hardware thingy.. (though it would be great if it can lol)

How to replace a screen when you have a spare phone to use?

I have a vibrant that I cracked my screen on. I recently bought a samsung galaxy s t959v the 4g brother of our phones for a really cheap price. How can I replace the screen without using the blow drier since I dont have one? Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

So no help anyone?
I don't think its safe to attempt a screen repair without something like a blow dryer. There are plenty of threads and videos showing how to do the screen repair but I have always seen them use a blow dryer. Sorry I can't be of more help, in case you haven't seen the video I'm speaking of ill post it. Here is the video everyone goes to in order to replace the screen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLUl9tlHSik&feature=youtube_gdata_player.
Found this video as well, this guy removed it with no blow dryer but he had stand alone replacement screen l, here it is if you wanna check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H_g4l2_AuQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player

It is extremely difficult to replace the screen without buying a digitizer and screen set. A special machine puts the screen and digitizer extremly close together making it almost impossible to take the screen and digitizer apart without breaking the digitizer. Its better just to replace both
Sent from my One S using xda app-developers app
If the phone you bought has a working digitizer and a working LCD, you don't even need to use a heat gun. You can just take the whole LCD+digitizer assembly out of the phone you bought (or opposite, because you open the phone from the back side and you take all components out until you are left with just the screen assembly). Then you can put your Vibrants parts there instead.

You can't flash a t959v ROM with front camera. Although if you'll find an i9000 ROM you like I'll get permission from the dev hopefully and port you one son that from facing works. You are talking about a vibrant with FFC right?

I'm pretty sure most custom Roms support a FFC now, there are Froyo Roms that support a FFC so I'm willing to bet a JB ROM will. If for some reason you have trouble you can check this thread out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945791
