Is there any way to disable the haptic feedback on the bottom four soft keys. I hate getting that vibration whenever I use them.
+1 I also dislike the vibration but cannot find a setting to disable it.

@aaurnab
Check the development forum. There is a thread explaining how to accomplish this.
There's actually 2 threads ATM about this. One disabling it through the framework-res.apk and one through the android.policy.jar file. So far only the first one has worked for me.

it's quite simple guys without getting too tech.
2 places to look:
1. Sound settings - disable Heptic feedback
2. Input settings - disable vibration
Did it for me.

Both these settings are not available in Atrix
Turn off haptic feedback on softkeys
Hi all, had my atrix (rooted) nearly a week now on Orange UK and one of the most annoying things for me was the haptic feedback on the soft keys, i couldn't find a setting in my phone to turn them off, so i scoured this forum looking for ways to do it, and it looked like the only way was to alter the framework which i'm not very comfortable in doing. So i went through the android market and came across this amazing app called VIBRAFIX ( must be rooted ) which allows you to turn the haptic feedback on the soft keys off, but also gives you the option of keeping vibrate on for your calls, sms and alarm clock. Hopefully this will save a me a bit of juice in my battery aswell.

Also very curios? is there a system .prop that can be changeD?
Please do something, i must turn noise reduction off everytime. blq.
any idea how to turn off the N.C?
I noticed something totally strange today on my SGS2.
The noise reduction works great - leaving the phone next to my speaker (playing music) i couldn't hear any music on the other line!
BUT ... after i bought a protective phone cover (made of some hard rubber) i noticed that during a call, the one on the other line can hear it's voice with an echo. Removed the protective phone cover - problem gone. If i put the phone near this cover during a call - BANG, problem reappears.
Disabling noise reduction fixes the problem (even with the cover on the phone) for good, but it sucks that you have to disable it on each call.
There MUST be a way do disable NC for good ...
I have been looking at the Notification Vibration in a number of Apps and don't seem to be having any luck.
As an example on my Galaxy Tab I have sound ON and in the Twidroyd App I have it set to Vibrate on Alerts which it plays both a Notification sound AND vibrates strongly.
However, on the SGS II with the same settings in Twidroyd it will only play the sound but will not vibrate.
Note: Both phones main settings/sound settings/ vibrate is set to Always.
Has anyone else experienced no notification vibration?
EDITED:
Sorted ~ See Post 16.
It was the App Volume Ace which had turned off Vibration Notifications.
I have the same kind of problem.
Incoming calls, the phone sounds but no vibration. In settings, vibration is set to "Always".
Any idea please ?!?
Thanks
Well I am pleased someone finally decided to add a comment here, even if it were only to agree.
I find it difficult to accept that everyone is happy their SGS2 has no vibration notification.
Come on members... voice your thoughts.
Only with your input can we then investigate further.
Hey, I found something interesting that brings the vibration to my incoming calls. Maybe it's gonna help you.
1. in Settings/Sound make sure you set "Always" to Vibration
2. Put a cross to Haptic feedback then set your intensity
3. Desactivate Haptic feedback
I tried to call my SGS2 and the vibration came with the ringtone.
Last step, I re-activated the Haptic feedback and vibration is still working with the ringtone.
PS : hope you understood my english...

What ROM version are you using?
Haven't tried this yet but if it does work well done but obviously there is an error on the phone in that it should work by default yet takes this weird method to activate it.
Now what about other vibration alerts..... any takers?
I'm using the latest XWKE7 with a root SGS2
The others vibration alerts seems to work good.

Interesting...... So this may be an issue with stock roms.
I have decided to wait until Gingerbread 2.3.4 before updating as apart from the dreaded no vibration notifications everything else seems great.
I'd like to hear from any other members please.... if only to say their vibration notifications work/don't work and what rom they are on... Thanks.
Mine rings and vibrates on incoming call. Vibrate is set to always and I've not noticed any issues.
Maybe its the ringtone that you're using?
Notifications seem fine too e.g. on whatsapp.

What about other notifications.
I.e. on my Tab whenever I receive a tweet I hear the notification and it vibrates.
The SGS2 only plays the audio notification.
Yeh other notifications from apps where I've set to vibrate seem fine.
I actually downloaded Twydroid to test it out - set notifications for tweets, mentions and DMs and set to vibrate but all I got was the sound. Weird.

I have the XDA App installed and that doesn't play vibration alerts.
Re Facebbok it won't let me sign in so will have to try that again.
However what concerns me is you say XDA works for you yet fire me nothing.... no vibration.
Need to look more into XDA when I get out of theatre.
Just about to go in for a short surgery.
Catch you later have to prep.
Thanks.
Sorted....... and it was unbelievably simple (and stupid of me not to notice).
The 'culprit' (although I share blame in not noticing) was the App 'Volume Ace' which I had already installed some time ago.
Last night after theatre I checked thoroughly all the Apps that should be sending a vibration notification and there was nothing untoward that showed any sign the Apps would hit a problem with a vibration alert.
Next step was to look again at my settings..... nothing wrong there.
Finally I then started to methodically go through each App which had some form of control to Sound.
It was not long before I found when you brought up the window of Volume Ace there was something I had previously missed.
Take a look at the first screen picture in the link I have highlighted above and if you look 'ever so' closely at the second volume control, to the right is a 'vibration' icon.
This icon was not lit up. So I tapped on the icon, this changed it's appearance to bright orange and closed the window down.
As I receive tweets every couple of minutes or so it was not long before Twydroid sent me an audio notification AND yes.... a vibration one as well.
So, all sorted.
Thank you to all those who have participated. I now am going to find a quiet room to hide my face of shame.
Ha no worries, glad you got it sorted and hope all went ok with your op, cheers

Yes, it's now performing just as it should and I still can not believe how simple it were in the end. Very unusual for me to miss something like this.
It would be easy for me to put it down to the 22 operations I have performed this past week and say they have kept me busy but that would only be an excuse.
Not to be picky, but looking at the thread title looks like it was the app (Volume Ace) misbehavior.
You can change the same setting in the stock/built in settings, the app will just reflect that change.
hi to all!
I would like to modify Android in this way :
1) When i'm in the desktop , must be start a count Y and at the finish of Y there must start lockscreen in automatic.
For example( Y=15) after 15 second that i'm on desktop and i don't touch monitor must be start lockscreen
2) when i'm in any application or menu must be start another counter (X ) (when i don't touch monitor) and when X=0 dysplay must be off.
For use dyplay i want to touch monitor and display must go ON .
If possibile i can use:
-SDK developer
or
-MOD rom
or
-tasker.
Is this possibile? use more more battery if i poweroff only monitor?
Where i can do this?
thx!:good:

This would require an app at the very least, more likely, it would require a complete teardown of the android system, editing the code specific to your device and controlling your hardware. Once the screen goes to sleep the touch input is "off", you may be able to mod the system so touching a key will turn on the screen, but I think thats probably the best you'll get.
Sorry guy.

Ok if i can touch the monitor for turn ON i can use a touchkeys?
Do this:
1) When i'm in the desktop , must be start a count Y and at the finish of Y there must start lockscreen in automatic.

For use diplay i want to touch one key(preset / for example search keytouch)and display must go ON .
it's possibile? ther'is any application do this?
Or i can use tasker for do this?
thx
Touch keys would work if you found an app that supports it, or made the mod. As far as tasker or other apps go, I'm not sure, you can search to see if you find what you're looking for:beer:

I've never used tasker, so I'm unfamiliar with it. If you're looking for an app, try the development forums. If you can already do this with tasker, then go for it. I'm sorry I can't be of more help on this matter, I merely explained why you hadn't gotten responses to your OP.

Then android when ggo into lockscreen turnOff display and other task and go into a mod call DeepSleep. into this mode kill more task and reduce use of memory and cpu .
Also Android when turn off display is not possibile turn ON it touching display but is possibile turn on it touching a touchkeys.
But when i only turn off brightness can i turn ON it only touching display?
thx!

Yes and no, if you set it so your phone never sleeps and set your brightness to zero, your phone isn't really "off", so you'd still be using the cpu and processes, not saving any battery life. But you would be able to essentially "wake" your phone by touching the display and turning the brightness back up. This isn't going to give you the results you're looking for though.
To truly do what you want, you'll need a mod, or like I said originally, some sort of app.

ok then turn only off brightness don't save battery.
But if i know which task android kill and use cpu and ram i can kill it when i turn off brightness whitout disable monitor.
This is difficult but in this mode i can re-use the telephone only touching the screen and i save battery..it's ok?
Otherwise:
1.) i don't save battery when i use telephone and i turn off only brightness when i'm in a menu or app , while i'm on the desktop i save battery and i activate lookscreen.
Where can I find an application or a programmer / modder to help me do this?
I have not yet if i can do this using only an application with root permissions or if I need a MOD in the rom ( or MOD in kernel).
thx

Can you elaborate, please? I understand that you don't want the machine vibration, but when? while you touch the screen, or the keyboard?
In that case just uncheck the vibration option under Settings -> Sound, or under Settings -> Language&Input -> Google keyboard settings.

Hi thanks I don't want it ever, I tried what you said last night (after googling it) but it didn't help. I discovered with more googling that me having everything permanently on mute was causing it to activate vibrate mode automatically. So I turned my volume to zero then up a notch or two (as was recommended). That cuts it out mostly but when I move app icons around for example it still bloody buzzes at me. Makes me jump every time.

Hey don't be like that man. We are only trying to help.
Go to settings, sound and disable vibrate on touch. This should disable the keyboard.
Download something like Widgetsoid and there should be a toggle that allows you to disable system wide vibrate.
Some apps may override it, like SwiftKey so you may need to disable it for some apps manually

I personally love the haptic feedback. I wish my 2012 nexus 7 had it. One of my favorite features.

As I mentioned I am not "suffering" from "bad vibrations" using Google Now Launcher (but otherwise completely stock). I didn't consider this to be the reason but who would have? At least I took some time investigating and finally realized why I am not experiencing this "issue" while others do and even offered a solution for those who are annoyed: Install Google Now Launcher (or any other launcher, though I don't know which one does "solve" that too)
It saddens me that some people get so offensive over nothing...
Wow, people complain about everything. Complaining about Samsung for adding a feature?:banghead:
