[Q] Unsolved call recording issue... - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hello.
I am using an XT910 on a 4.1.2 China kernel version which allows me to record calls (I need that as I am often driving and cannot stop to take notes yet I need vocal notes for figures, numbers, details... hence my need to be able to record calls at will... my counterpart is aware of that
I am using an app called "Sanity" and it works quite well.
I have another XT910 MAXX on a 4.1.2 JB Europe that instead does not allow call recordings and the kernel is locked so it cannot be changed.
I was trying to override this issue by using Boot Menu Manager (BMM) and installing a JBX kernel on another ROM (not the stock one) like SlimKAT, Paranoid and so on in the 4.4.2 release.
Yet neither Sanity nor any other call recorder app that I found is able to properly record a call: what I hear is either an empty file or only "white noise".
I tried downloading and installing a JBX module called "call recording" but it appears to be designed and appliable only on Samsung Galaxy S4 and/or only on Samsung designed ROMs.
So, in the end, my questions is:
Is anyone aware of any working trick or configuration to record calls with JBX kernels or some other way?
Please only tested solutions, no advice like one app or another since I already tested a bunch with no result.
Thanks a lot.

[Q] viber on Vibrant

Has anyone tried this app on 2.3.4 ROM?
Im running CM7 #59 with GLITCH and it does not work for me.
App devs asked me to try on stock, but I don't want to go stock for this app
I can't post the link to the app being a new user, so you can look it up in the market.
"Viber : Free calls & messages"
Uninstall whatever you downloaded from the market, install this....it works for me on the same rom with glitch kernel.
http://db.tt/V3mDpKV
Still nothing with the new APK
Is there anything I can config?
Try going to settings, applications, manage, viber, clear cache and data, see if that works.
Also, tell me exactly what happens. Is it not installing or launching?
Installation is ok.
Messaging is ok.
Whenever I initiate a call, I can hear other side talking, but no one can hear me.
If I mute the call i get FC.
Tried to activate\deactivate and still nothing. Now I have to wait 24 hours for next activation
Will update tomorrow.
Hmmm....I'll look into it and try to find a solution if I have time.
ok, I'm back in.
From what I hear, the app does not work well with CM7 builds on SGS of any kind.
Developers say that they don't support any custom ROMs officially.
Unfortunately that is correct - at this stage we won't be developing support for customized ROMs.
The issue of CM7 is being discussed in our company these days, and we might decide to support specific support for CM7 (CM7 ROM is the cause for the one-sided conversation, as far as we understand).
At any rate - try contacting CM7 developers and ask them to make the necessary adaptations with Viber. They might find that the source of the problem is CM7's fault and help you out.

Is there something specific in the TouchWiz framework that you are depending on? CM7 is a stock AOSP ROM so it should be generic and so unless Viber is using TouchWiz customized framework stuff, it should work in CM7.
To be frank I don't fully know the answer to that question, but evidently there is SOME incompatibility between CM7 and Viber. Logic says that if Viber works fine on stock ROM, then it's CM7 that needs to do the adaptations.
As I said, we're looking into it and hopefully we'll have announcements soon.

Agreed, hopefully one of your users will send us logcats of what is going on if they want us to look at it.
i'll be happy to send logs but im new to logcat.
How should I configure aLogcat (from market?) and where to send the log.
I've used it for the past few days on MIUI which is based on CM7. It works great.
I had been trying for two days to fix a problem where I cannot hear the other party of a voice call until I realized that the app treats the call sound as a system sound (which I usually mute). when I turned the system sound level up, the problem was solved.

Hmm..
Could you please elaborate on that? i.e give me a step-by-step solution, so we can try and suggest it to other users of ours with CM7.
Back with some insights.
Apparently my mic is not working when Viber is running. Tried to check it on some other app, also didn't work. Ill try to follow up on that in CM forums.
P.S
Skype does work.
sound is working now.
I installed glitch incorrectly...
The viber issue is still in place

I usually set the system sound level to the lowest to avoid the noise from the startup and shutdown sounds.
When I tried to make phone calls through Viber, I couldn't hear the other party even when I tried to raise the volume up during the call (it had no effect)
so I decided to try adjusting the system sound level and see if that helps, and it helped
system volume adjustment is not an option on CM7. Well, i don't have it.

Thanks for the info.
Are you running a customized ROM?
Also, what device do you have and which Android version?

[Q] Call Recording

Galnet MIUI has call recording integrated into its dialer app. Are there any other ROMs that do the same, so you don't need to use an additional app to record?
Thanks.
Have you tried to just pull the phone.apk from one of the i9100 roms that have recording built in and install it? I was thinking of trying that, but haven't gotten around to it. Besides, it didn't work that easily on i9000 -> Cappy.
edit: There is also this. Haven't tried it yet, either. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1222368
I wasn't sure if transferring the phone.apk's was possible since I'm a newbie lol.
I'll give that a script a shot. Thanks!
For anyone who may be interested, I tried the dialer mod that PuffinNugz linked to and it seems to work fine for our phones. Thanks again PuffinNugz!

[Q] CallRecorder Requires Special Kernel?

Hey Everyone,
I recently upgraded my ROM to BAMF Forever v1.10. In doing so my callrecorder app by skvalex stopped functioning. Before the updated rom it seemed to work without any issues. After doing some research it seems this may simply need a new kernel or radio.
Does anyone know what radio would allow call recorder to function? It has to be compatible with BAMF Forever v1.10, although I'm not sure if compatibility with the ROM is even something that could be an issue.
Thanks in advanced!
You'd have to sort through the threads and see if call record is supported. If its not listed, its more than likely not supported. On a side note, if you you're feeling like trying something different (and if you can find it) droidvicious put out a MIUI rom that other than no MMS is pretty functional. I say this because MIUI, or at least the MIUI I'm running, has call recording built into a tools menu that's part of the dialer. Works pretty good for me so far.
Signature.
You will need to flash a new kernel because the default BAMF kernel does not support it. I think the imoseyon sense kernel supports call recording.

[Q] Nexus LouderBoom (AwesomeBEATS)

First of all, I'd like to say I'm glad to be on this extremely helpful forum with very intelligent members. I have been watching this forum for at least 2 years now to get up to speed on rooting and not being a noob so much. I have successfully rooted, troubleshooted, restored to stock, rerooted and added custom roms on my GSM/HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus from Google Play due to help on these forums and elsewhere and I am very grateful. Because I am new, I was not able to post this question in the forum I wish to, which I have mentioned below, until I reach 10 posts, so please do bare with me.
I have been on Android 4.1.2 due to a sound tweak rom by the name of Nexus LouderBoom.zip which installs the AwesomeBEATS sound equalizer enhancement to the ridiculously low volume of the Galaxy Nexus. I never updated to 4.2.2 for fear that it wouldn't work and also because the upgrades for that particular OS version weren't that necessary to me.
However, I did happen to stumble upon ...Awesome...'s thread on AwesomeBEATS™ v.5 and perused it's pages to see that many people are having success with it as it has now been to designed to work with pretty much any Android Jelly Bean operating system. So I decided to give it a go and update to 4.2.2 via OTA. Prior to the OTA update, I made sure I did a back up through Nexus Toolkit 1.6.3 as well as make a Nandroid backup via TWRP Custom Recovery.
The update went well and everything worked normally. I then applied the AwesomeBEATS v.5 rom via the recovery console and installed it. It had the option under the Sound Settings like it's supposed to. I then began customizing my sound preferences for Headset, Speaker and Bluetooth for which I momentarily noticed a sound change when manually adjusting the equalization in the "Speaker" while playing a song via Google Music. However, after switching to Bluetooth, the adjustments no longer registered and it seemed to bypass the fact that the tweak was installed on the phone. Even after turning off Bluetooth and going back to Speaker, it just didn't work anymore. I even tried to flash an older version (v.4) to no avail as it made the streaming from Google Music quit entirely. Because of this incompatibility, I had to revert back to my previous version 4.1.2 where I was able to utilize the Nexus LouderBoom.zip tweak which worked beautifully.
Looking back on why v.5 didn't work for me, I can only stop at this line in the instructions...
"*STOCK Rom (ROOTED but on stock rom. (ONLY SOUND FILES WILL INSTALL)"
Is the fact that the ONLY the sound files will install part of my problem? Or is there some other technicality I missed along the way?
Thank you so much for anyone who responds... or not.

Call recording in Lollipop roms

Sooooo, I went back to Jasmine Rom, and activated the internal call recording function, which has proven to be helpful(crazy ex wife, not "murder" crazy, just likes conflict) I don't know if any of the current AOSP ROM offers this, but I've been reading a lot of "after my Nexus 5 updated to lollipop, this app to record doesn't work anymore" Does anyone else have any similar needs, and has found something that works for them?? Thanks in advance for any and all help
Took the plunge today anyways, now running AOSPA 5.0. Still looking to see if anyone has a solid app for recording calls in lollipop.

I've found a few, but none promise auto-recording, for free, like we had with G3 TweaksBox.
xposed for 5.0 is out now. Its in it's infancy but there is a module for call recording which might be working. not sure if it's auto-call recording and may require you to hit record each time but should replace add-call button with record button during a call.

I have Xposed installed, but I couldn't find the module. Can you provide a link? I just installed the CallRecorder app found here, and used the Standard API method, which seems to work okay. A lot of the trial/paid apps sounded like pure garbage on the G3.
Not a free app but there's a trial version available (10 days of usage iirc). Here's the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skvalex.callrecorder. I have device set as LG G2 (vzw) and recording method set to CAF. I'm running Blisspop and alternate between stock kernel and the 777 R6 kernel. Worked great until I either changed kernels or tried recording in mp3 format. Will report back after a few more calls lol.

This is the one I'm using, but I can't seem to get it to record automatically using CAF or other methods. Standard API works fine though.

First one doesn't work. I'll have to try the second one--but it says it is specific to Samsung ROMs... hmmm
Thanks for the suggestions, and I was looking for a button to record, not auto, only need it for the ex. I will give a few of these a try, as I've returned to a nandroid of jasmine I had. Got 4 other different versions of lollipop to try tho....
