Hey guys! & the rare lady I need some help. I bought my 10.1 specifically for class. My instructors use ppts & I'd rather not have to print them all off. I was just using Polaris 5 and taking notes, using the highlighter function and was LOVING it!! Until it unexpectedly closed on me & didn't save any of my notes. I had the setting checked to save a backup if edits were made but I noticed a pop-up saying save edits weren't available with the document open. Not sure if it was ppt or pptx. I've tried several options in the play store & none do what I want. Any suggestions? I've tried office suite, king something, pearl something. I know that's not specific but my mind is flooded with programs I've tried & anatomy (I'm in class right now)

Oops, it's olive, not pearl.
If you don't need to edit ppt documents and only need to annotate, it's better to save them as pdf and use pdf annotation apps.
Check out office suite pro, its on sale in the playstore for 99 cents. I use it for ppts a lot.

I just downloaded the trial. I can't write on the ppts and if I can't write, I can't highlight. I need to be able to highlight.
Next... I'll try the pdf option.
If you can get your lecture files in pdf format I think adobe reader or ezpdf is one of the better options. I currently use adobe reader with dropbox and its pretty amazing.

You don't have to get in pdf format, you can convert them to pdf on the fly, on tablet.

I am new to Android and new to Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014, so I have been on an app learning curve! I settled on LectureNotes for PDFs, mainly because it allows edits on a *new* layer, meaning the original is protected (if you setup import correctly). It is highly configurable.
The only thing (I think) I haven't figured out is how to type on a new layer.
Good luck!

Yep, ive backed out accidentally and exited the app and it saved. I shut the device off midway, and opened up the file, what i had was still there.
I use it mainly to fill out and sign pdf documents

The key is "different layer". You can highlight, draw, etc. on the new layer.

Hey, everyone. This is Obasi42, creator of Obasi Apps and Quick-Notes for the S Pen. Please don't take this thread as an advertisement for my application. I am simply desperate for your help right now.
As you may know, there is a contest going on right now for the best S Pen applications. I understand that my application isn't nearly good enough to win, but I do want to have a fighting chance out there. So, to anyone who already uses my app, or anyone who is curious to find out more, or anyone who just wants to help: can you please tell me what features you would like implemented in this application?
Here's a link to it in the market (it's free!):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.obasiapps.productivity.quicknotes
Bonus question: I'm also creating a gaming app, so what games would you like created for the S Pen?
The competition ends Tuesday, so, you can see why I'm in a hurry.
Thanks!
I tried it out. It's a good, basic memo app. Here are my criticisms-
I would much prefer this show up as an app. I like to have my search button go directly to vlingo.
It's a bit too basic. The s-pen memo app that comes with the phone does the same thing except you have a lot more color choices.
I'd really like to be able to embed pics and maybe voice notes.
Your app is definitely on to a good start. Good luck with the competition!

Why can't I run your app on my Note? I have it installed but its icon is not with the other apps. When I go into settings, it shows that it is installed, but there is no way for me to launch it.
Weird.

Had that issue also. I'm rooted so I installed touchscreentune and it sorted that all out. Samsung needs to come up with a native app that does the same thing.

However i can't visit the market on my network. Any alternative method to get it?

Here's my take on the search button long press to launch. Some ppl have reassigned the search button. That may affect the operation without an app drawer icon.
Note...where BIGGER is better!
Play store says the app is not compatible with my Note and Captivate. Wth.
Running stock ICS btw.
OK so I've searched and searched and have come up short all over the place. I'm looking for a program or app that bypass or allows me to edit a PDF file so that I can read it. The files I want to read are for my school. I have a password for them but no programs allow me to view them on my tablet. I want to be able to read them on the go. Any help at all will be much appreciated

You can't remove the password with a pdf reader. Adobe Acrobat allows you to remove the password and make the change permanent. Of course, Acrobat is not free. However, the pdf reader/viewer you are using should be prompting you to enter the password. Once entered, you should be able to view the file. Worst case? Download Adobe's own reader app from the play store.
Maybe try this program http://www.pdfpasswordremover.com/

Your original post stated that you wanted to be able to read the pdf files. I've got password-protected files on my phone and tablet. Installed the Adobe reader app on both and it works like a champ. Yes, if you really want to edit and modify pdf files then you do need to look elsewhere. Not trying to bust your chops, but you need to be more exact in your post so your time and others are not wasted.

+1 adobe reader works fine for me when reading password-protected files
It has to do with the DRM security of it. So found this program a couple of weeks ago and never got it to work properly as far as being able to unlock the book called PDF factory. It was a simple matter of print to file using adobe and printing to the program. Then it opens in PDF factory reader and I save as. It is a free trial version so it leaves a tiny watermark with a link to their website at the bottom of each page.

It depends on a few things.however if you can email me the PDF I have had mostly success removing these passwords for transferring pdf's to my phone, i can't imagine it is that much different for tablets. I've got some perl scripts laying around somewhere.

Hi, There are many other users also who are facing the similar problem. Many times users are unable to copy, print, or edit the PDF document. Therefore, in such cases it becomes necessary for the user to have some applications like Softaken Unlock PDF Tool to unlock password protected PDF. With this software, user can remove security from PDF documents easily on any Windows OS.
To unlock PDF file security you can use Softaken PDF Unlocker Tool. A few days back I was also searching for the tool that can unlock and remove PDF restrictions. However, after a lot of searches, I came across this utility. It really helps me to remove restrictions from PDF documents and enable all PDF permissions, This software runs on all Windows systems.

Yes correct... i also noticed the same thing. but instead of selecting "save as" option you can click top left "save" icon present on the screen while editing. this will save your changes in the same file you opened.

Are u editting file using polaris office by browse it through My files app? U must not do that as it will cause u not able to rewrite it later. Dont ask me why..cause i also dont know why..
So what i did is, i open the file direct using polaris ofice and browse the file from there. By doing so, then u can rewrite ur file.

I came to relies on the S-Note for taking quick notes in my Note device. S-Notes have the ability to backup the notes to Samsung Cloud server.
However, I also have a Nexus 7 and even though it doesn't have a stylus, I want to have the ability to read the notes I took with my Note device.
Thus, is it possible to extract the S-Notes apk and run it in the Nexus 7?

I HIGHLY doubt it. S-Notes runs on touchwiz and nexus doesn't. So you won't be able to run S-Notes, but you might be able to read them with a different app.
You can export the your notes to jpg or pdf file I believe.
