Hi,
I am in the process of completely wiping my phone and starting from scratch and thought it would be a good time to try out a few diffrent roms. My plan was to keep the stock rom that came with my phone and install the latest stock rom alongside it. So i would have 4.1.2 (carrier rom) and 4.3 (latest stock rom). Then i discovered that you can dual boot ubuntu os and android and was wondering if anyone had tried this and if so how well it runs. Or if anyone has any better suggestions for a second rom for my s3,
Thanks in advance.
I'm gonna try this in the next couple of days so ill keep yous updated on how it goes.

I just installed a custom rom onto my AT&T Thrive/P506 for the first time, and everything is coming up with weird graphical glitches/colors.
I've tried both the CM7 and devoid ROMs, but both are doing the same thing. The initial LG screen looks fine, but once the ROM loads I only get a weird blue/green screen. I followed the directions as stated. It appears as though a graphics driver or something is not being installed properly.
Has anyone seen this before? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am in the same boat. Can anyone help please !!!
Btw Dangelone, what does your phone model say in About Phone.
I have the same problem to. I kept the stock rom and flashed the kernel and i got the same thing too. Im starting to think it's just the kernel that messes up the screen.
Anyone got a rom that works for the LG thrive P506? Most roms give messed up color display but functions all work.
I hope someone at least tries to make one, I can't because I have no idea where to start. I'm starting to think that the devs wouldn't even want to try since this is a lower-end Android phone and that they higher-end ones are more exciting. But for the goodwill of the community maybe there will be one good person who will attempt to make a fully functional custom rom for us LGP506 owners.
backup ur stock kernel, flash custom rom, then restore stock kernel?

CWM Recovery Update Epic Fail
Hey people's I'm hoping someone can help me work this one out cos its doing my head in and I'm not real popular at home today... last night I attempted to update my partners CWMR from 5.0.2.8 to 6.0.4.4 on his Huawei Y201 Pro (U8666E-51) unfortunately I kinda failed spectacularly... not only did the new version not take, but afterwards I couldn't get the backup to restore. It got as far as /datadata before erroring out. (Whoops) I have since managed to successfully updated to CMWR 6.0.4.4 and install cyanogen 10, but nothing works right anymore and all his system apps keep force closing, along with parts of the OS is there anything I can do besides buy him a new phone? I have tried everything I can think of, including flashing a stock ROM, but nothing has worked... I would really appreciate any advice... Thanx <3

Okay...I have had this problem for a while now and cant find a solution to the current problem. Here goes. I have the Samsung Galaxy Note I717M. This is the Canadian version to the AT&T Note I717 I have been rooting my phones for several years now and pretty familiar with the ongoings of the whole process. I rooted my phone via ODIN and put a custom rom onto my Note with no problems. Everything works great! Where I run into a problem is when I decided to go with the Jellybean update 4.2.2. The Jellybean rom I am using is called Jellybam version 7.8.0. ParanoidAndroid Ver. 3.15 quincyatt_jb-mr1_build-6. When I installed it everything seemed to work fine for the first couple of days. All of a sudden my phone started to freeze where everything was non functioning. This frozen state would last for about 15 seconds then my screen would go completely light blue for another 5 to 10 seconds then turn off and reboot. It doesnt do this with any 4.2.1 custom roms. Only with the 4.2.2 version. Does anyone have this similiar problem? Is there a fix for this? I love my custom 4.2.2 rom and dont want to go back to any other earlier Android OS and rom. Can someone shed some light as to what is happening and is there a proceedure that needs to be followed or done differently so that this doesn't continues to happen. Or yet again is the a know issue? Any insight to fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated! I await your helpfull tools and hints. Any help I will be happy with.
thanks Guys
Paul
This is a known issue on Kelly bean roms. Oddly, most people are having less reboots with the new 4.2.2 over the 4.1.2 .... The issue is the kernel. There is no source to build from yet. So ... There are issues.
I have had a lot of freezing and reboots on many of the jelly roms. I'll tell you that you rom, jellybam, is not supported on xda.
I'm am currently on the unofficial AOKP and having great luck. You may want to give it a go.
Well I downloaded the rom and gapp from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583316 as some as I rebooted it ask
ed. Me if I wanted To download the custom rom. And now its been 8hrs saying downloading. Ok is My tablet bricked, can I flash a stock rom? I'd like to.get kitkat on it though
Ok I have this same device and know it well.
I tried this rom as well and unfortunately it is broken so try another version or ask the devs for a new version. thanks and let us know if this help or if you have found a better solution.
...And for the most part, I love it. Or did until the Nougat update. I wanted to like Nougat, but like so many others have reported, it just ruined my tablet. I tried:
Resetting to factory defaults (no effect)
Unlocking the bootloader and going back to the latest Official 6.0.1 build (worked, but wanted to give Nougat another shot, so...)
Installed the latest official Nougat from fastboot (worked for a while, but after a week, it was already starting to slow down, heat up, and crash)
Back to latest official Marshmallow via fastboot (current setup)
I like staying with the official builds for now, but I am open to rooting and going custom ROM. I also wondered what just installing a custom Kernel (ElemantalX?) over top of an official build would do for me? Ideally, I would have NTFS/exFAT support, which I know the custom kernal would do for me.
Thoughts and suggestions? I know this question has been asked before, but it has been a while, and there are now new variables (7 is several updates in, 7.1 is on the horizon, etc.)
Thank you all, love the community!
