[Q] How do I root this phone and install CWM without softbricking? - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

As I wrote on my previous question, I softbricked my phone yesterday when I installed BusyBox X and CWM recovery on my phone. I got a replacement phone and I am cautious on bricking the phone. I am trying to figure out if I did a wrong combo in installing these two things. I had this phone in the summer and I'm trying to remember from memory how this goes.
First I installed LGPwn and rooted it that way, then I installed BusyBox X and pressed the button that said install, finally I installed the L9 bootstrap recovery and rebooted. Then I proceeded to install 2 zip files, 1) Black Status Bar tweak by Mateo1111 and 2) Hide QApps also by Mateo1111. I restarted the phone and was greeted with the error of com.android.phone has stopped and encrypted/ reset phone. Did I do anything wrong? If so, please help me out!

The problem you had was actually with busybox. I had the same problem after I rooted my L9. I rooted and then installed busybox and everything seemed fine, I then booted to cwm and made a nandroid backup, then after booting back to android os, I was greeted with "Encrypting - Reset Phone" To recover from this, I booted back to recovery and restored the backup and then everything was fine. When it comes to busybox the L9 is very particular. Mine wouldn't work with busybox by stericson I had to use busybox x. If you tried busybox x and had that problem you might want to try busybox by stericson and install version 1.21.0 and use smart install.

Thanks for your reply! I did install the other version of BusyBox by Stericson and it worked flawlessly. No errors so far, and I have my phone set up the way I like it.

Awesome... Glad I could be of help.

Lost Root, Please HELP!

Okay so I wiped my tablet and was able to update my TWRP to Voyager's new 2.6.3 version. I then installed the CMB ROM after using ADB to push it and gapps to my Prime in recovery. Everything installed just fine. When I got my tablet all booted up it seems I lost root somehow. I have never lost root in all the times I have flashed ROM's until now. I don't know if it is because I updated to the new TWRP or what. It is very frustrating and I have tried the Urkel's Fresh Start to re-root and I have also tried motochopper. I have had no success in getting it to root. I have Superuser on my tablet and when I open it up it asks if I want to update the SU binary and when I click yes it says Installation Failed!
Please HELP, I have spent hours on researching this and can't find a way to get my root back.
Edit: Oh and I do have the su in the system/bin folder and Superuser.apk in the the system/apps folder but no su-backup anywhere.

[Q] Rooting Motorola Defy+

I have been trying to root my Motorola Defy+. I have tried using SuperOneClick, z4root and Framaroot. None of these appeared to work, in that I got no messages to say they had been successful. However, the device now seems to be rooted. I have installed Busybox and ROM Manager (Superuser is installed but doesn't work as it reports the su binary is out of date but can't update) and when opening these there is a message to say they have been granted superuser permission. I also have ClockworkMod installed and apparently working.
However, if I try to backup or install a custom ROM from ROM Manager the device boots into recovery mode then hangs (boot looping??). I can only get out of this by removing and replacing the battery then rebooting back to the standard ROM.
Can anyone help, or explain what may be happening, please.
Mike
Still no progress with this. Any advice or assistance welcome.

[Q] Xposed Framework

I have 2 questions. Does Xposed Framework work with LG P76921d? And 2, is it possible to install a recovery and back up your rom without an unlocked bootloader?

Xposed Framework works with P76920h. Using version 2.5 of the app now. (app_process:50, XposedBridge.jar:46)
GravityBox does not work. It will fill up ALL AVAILABLE internal space with an error log. Our ROM is unsupported anyway, so let it go.
Master Key multi-fix [2.0] DOES WORK.
(An aside: when did you update to 21d?)
It updated last year around august
Also, do you know any modules that might work? If not, there would be no point in installing xposed

I have the LGMS769 which is no different than the P769 and I have xposed framework, gravity box, battery themer, youtube adaway and have used multi window, xblast tools and some others without any issues.
Yes you can install cwm recovery for locked bootloaders with the L9 recovery installer from here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095825
Download SuperSU and BusyBox by stericson from the play store. Install SuperSU then install BusyBox, open BusyBox and chose to install BusyBox v1.21.0 to system/xbin. Then install the L9 recovery installer, open the app and click on install ICS/JB stable recovery, once its installed it will tell you to reboot and when the device reboots the front keys will start flasing,(this means you have recovery access) press and hold down the volume (-) down button while the lights are flashing and the device will boot into the recovery. Once in recovery, immediately at this point make sure you perform a nandroid backup before exiting recovery.... this is just in case you get the "Encrypting Reset Phone" error when you exit recovery and boot to android OS, sometimes this will happen because of a BusyBox issue and rebooting back into recovery and flashing your nandroid backup will fix it.
Anyway that's it, you now have cwm recovery installed.
With the cwm for locked bootloaders you can perform and restore backups, flash zips and etc... But you cannot flash custom ROMs with it.
I'd recommend to now install xposed framework and whatever other modules that you want now that you have a nandroid backup. If you want to try a module then try it and see if it works... If it causes problems just uninstall it, if you still have problems or it causes a boot loop, boot to recovery and restore your nandroid backup and your fine.

Really depends on what you have on the device as far as apps, user data and so forth, but can be around 1-2 gb.
When you make the nandroid backup select to backup to the SD card and not onto the device.

I don't have that option. Do I just move the folder to the sd card?
EDIT: NVM I found it
After you get recovery in your phone... Go & Search this forum for @kuma82 's kumakan rom for locked bootloaders. Its the best I have found. I'm on cm9 for locked boot loader right now but I'm going to probably switch back to kumakan. He's already got the xposed framework & gravity box set up. Internal/external memory swap script too. Highly suggest it.

Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-19100) Gingerbread | Rooted, but superuser not working

Hello peeps, evilbeef here!
So yea, I have rooted my phone a while a go I have used Odin v185
and I used Speed Kernel S2 K-2 -21 as the PDA file. I have found this on GalaxyS2 Root webpage
I have successfully rooted it, basically I have rooted so many phones using Odin. :laugh:But this one is different. I already have Superuser app (from google store) before I started rooting it. After I rooted it, my phone rebooted automatically. In the Startup, The phone has yellow triangle. My Phone works normally.
BUT THE PROBLEM IS, THERE IS NO REQUEST OF PERMISSION SHOWING, I ALSO USED ROOT CHECKER, IT IS NOT WORKING, IT SAYS ROOT ACCESS IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED. ALL OF THE APPS I DOWNLOADED THAT NEEDS ROOT PERMISSION ALSO DOESN'T WORK.
BUT ONE THING I AM WANDERING ABOUT IS THAT MY KERNEL VERSION CHANGED.
IT SAYS THAT: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #k2-21
But also when I go to recovery mode, I can flash CWM recovery automatically.
The only thing that doesnt work I think is the Superuser.
I also tried checking su binary vlegacy. I also try to check for updates but superuser keeps me forcing it to close.
I think I am only having issues with Superuser I think. How Can I fix this? Please Help
Uninstall supersu from you phone.
Download supersu from this link- https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/ Copy paste it into your SD card.
Boot into cwm recovery and install the supersu zip file you downloaded.
Thanks for the fast respond bro! I was thinking about the same thing tho, I just want to have confirmation from others if this thing would work! HAHAHAHAH thanks mate! :--------)

I am running Android 5.01 and I was rooted and Busybox needed to update. It failed and I lost root. I am unable to reinstall SuperSU even though I have TWRP Recovery. When I reboot there is no SuperSU installed and root does not work.
nevermind I just found it easier to start over. restored recovery files back to default stock and rooted phone again. What a mess.
