I think I brick my phone, Please HELP!!!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hello,
I will mention every thing I did since Yesterday so that it can help you guys in helping me.
1) I used the following link to root my phone
The website doesnt allow me to post the link but the main site is called rootgalaxynote dot com
I was successfull
2) After the first step, I connected my phone to Kies and it said there is a upgrade version avaialble and I did upgrade it to 4.3.
3) Worked fine, but when I went to install Titanium Backup, it gave me a message saying that root access was denied and I need to root my device, smiliar message was given by SuperUser app.
4) So I followed the instructions from this thread and was able to successfully complete till Step 4 (A) in the following link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586223
After completion of step 4 (A), my phone rebooted itself and freezes at SAMSUNG screen.
Can someone please help me fixing this, If I need to post it thread somewhere else, please let me know.
Update:
I have done some search and found that clearing Cache might help. I have done that it still freezes at the samsung logo.
Thank
Nepo
PS: I can still however go to the CMW recovery screen.

May have been a corrupt file or something. I would boot into recovery and restore you nandroid backup assuming you made one and follow the directions again, this time without updating in Kies. Not really needed if your wanting to root to be able to flash roms etc..

Thanks Demmon,
I found a ATT Stock ROM on this website and was able to re-start my phone. How ever, I am having a hard time trying to update back my phone with the latest OS or even Jelly Bean and also the CWM recovery. Every thing is failing and crashing (Even the Odin give an error cannot find com/port)
I am not sure what to do.

Open kies and plug in device. Reinstall device drivers using the kies menu. Then Odin will work again.
You can also put device in download mode, open kies and select firmware upgrade and initialization. Type in model number in all caps. Then serial number. Let it do it's thing and you will be on 4.1.2 officially. Like a brand new phone without root. Odin will work again to flash recovery and roms.

[Q] Frozen at the Samsung splash screen after running Odin

So I tried to use odin to root my device. I was following a guide on youtube but XDA won't let me post it. I got to where I run odin while my phone is in download mode. Everything goes according to the video, however, when the phone reboots it freezes at the Samsung splash screen with the yellow ! at the bottom. I've tried putting the phone back in download mode and running it through Odin again but the problem is not fixed. Does anyone know how I would go about fixing this?
Try restocking. If you repartitioned you may be in trouble. Go to cm7 website and follow their instructions.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I made sure the repartition option wasn't selected before I ran odin in both cases. I'm assuming by CM7 you mean cyanogenmod? Sorry for the ignorance, I just want to make sure I'm doing what I need to to get it back in working condition
Dont know why should you go to cm7 website.
Follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
use an appropriate kernel for your phone.
Or get a stock kernel and use odin to flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Still not working? Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499

I've got no idea what boxhead72 is going on about, but anyway, to be able to help you, we need to know what you've done. Generally, you need to make sure you're flashing a correct ROM/kernel/modem for your device. You also might need to reset to factory settings. But without knowing what you've done, it's impossible to say.
You can find stock ROMs and a guide for I9100 (if that is your phone's model) in Intratech's thread here: [ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8, KJ1/2 Download.
On the plus side, if you can get to the boot screen, you are far better off than those who get NOTHING. I know it doesn't make you feel that good right now, but if you can get this far, your chances of recovery (if you follow instructions) are near 100%.
If you told us that you get no response at all from the phone when the power button was pressed, you might have room to worry a bit.
Now, not so much. Just take a minute to breathe and read through your steps as outlined in the above mentioned threads. You'll be fine in all likelihood.
Okay, I did some more searching and realized I was on the completely wrong forum... I have the AT&T U.S. I777 Galaxy S2. So exactly what I did was install kies, close out of it, put my phone into download mode, connect it to my computer, install what I assume was an incorrect .tar file using Odin while it was in download mode, let it reboot and am now seeing it hang at the boots screen with the yellow exclamation mark. I wouldn't mind reformatting it if someone could show me how, but I mainly want to use this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285894
to root it and install CM7. Could I just run odin again and install the .tar file given in these instructions? Or does it not quite work like that? Thanks for all the help you guys are giving by the way!

I don't know anything about that phone, but a quick look in those forums shows:

and
[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) :: V7.1.0 RC1 (9 Oct 2011)
Thanks for those, I was actually reading through them when I noticed you posted them. I have another problem now though, I ran the stock rom through odin in this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
but it failed in Odin and upon reboot it says firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. I didn't know kies had a recovery mode, but when I connect my phone it always fails to connect. Note that I CAN still get into the download menu, but that's it. At this point is there anything else I can do?

I presume Kies recovery mode is in Kies -> Tools -> Emergency firmware recovery.
I noticed that as well but like I said I cannot connect to Kies so any recovery mode isn't very helpful

I guess if you've done everything on [Guide] How to Prepare Your Phone to Return to the Store or for Warranty Replacement (which is linked at the bottom of the thread I linked earlier), then your next port of call should be Recovering an ATT Galaxy S2 after flashing GT-I9100 Firmware.

Trying to get back to stock!! please help.

So I'm sure I'm going to get flamed ,or told to go read, or have grammar made fun of. But at this point I I'm lost. I have attempted to download every file and try every method listed to get my phone back to stock, nothing is working.
ROM: Team objection UCLE 2 #2 RC1
Baseband: 1717UCLF5
Carrier: at&t
Up until now I have never had too ask for help reading was always enough to get all the info I needed but not this time.
Ok so, work kies it will never connect to the service the phone that is, all drivers up to date. PC can see it just fine.
Have tried to use the different unrooted methods in the super everything thread such as the Odin flash and ask the others listed. Can some one please help me before I really mess up my phone?

See the file right after #11 that is what I used.. Wondering if you are in download mode when in Odin.. There are different ways.. This is only what I did.. I hope this helps you
Will this get me back to being able to connect to Kies so I can do the upgrade? I know this one said unroot but I was unsure if i need to get back to a stock ROM as well. I kow I read some where able to unroot thought kies, but all I was ever able to get was a connection error.
Yes , I was in DL mode in Odin as well, but hey sometime we have to ask the obvious questions like. " Is the device plugged in to the outlet"
You don't need to go back to stock to get the ics upgrade!
Go to the samsung page where you upgrade (this link was sent out by at&t in a tezt message), scroll down near the bottom and do the emergency firmare install.
It will wipe your phone clean but will leave your sd card alone.

Ill give this a try on my lunch break at work. and report back. Thanks
Make sure you have the samsung usb/charging cable.
This emergency option is under "tools".
I'm on Telus, rooted and running a ics rom, would this kies method work for me or is it only for AT&T users?
would I have to wait until my carrier releases the update?
Thanks!

I have the link but i cannot post it yet sorry, need more post...
I just got the AT&T text message about the ICS update. And it's the same link I've seen before taking you to the Samsung web site and instructing you how to use the Kies software to update.

I saw nothing on the Samsung page that instructs on how to do the emergency firmware install.
First download Kies and install it with your phone unplugged from the computer. make sure Kies does all its updates. while its updating remove your battery and write down your S/N as well as the model of the phone cause youll need it, go ahead and remove ur SD card to be safe. Once its fully updated put your phone into DOWNLOAD MODE, then connect it to the computer. in Kies goto Firmware Upgrade and Initialization in the Tools Menu. This will wipe everything from your phone so backup any pictures/music/movies whatever. your going to accept the new firmware install and be asked for your S/N of the phone and the phones model number. depending on your internet speed should take about 15 mins or less to do the upgrade to ICS

I tried that. It disconnects the device then asks for a code. It does not install the update - at least on my device.

[Q] Samsung S2 will not update firmware in kies

Hi im in need of some help. I have recently bought a Samsung s2. I have noticed that it is not up to the current version. But when i go into kies i get a message in the main info section that says .............. Im not sure how i can update it. My phone is from hong kong and has 2 apps installed on it called XDA and superuser. Both of which i can not uninstall. Not sure if that has something to do with it. I am completely new to all this and have no idea of what i need to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you buy your phone second hand??
Well If you have superuser... then your phone might be rooted, install terminal emulator and type "su" in it to check or just install any app which needs root and see if the app works after giving superuser permission...
If your phone is rooted... then you have to unroot it before you update to stock via kies...
For unrooting, follow this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW6x29ug5Ms&desktop_uri=/watch?v=tW6x29ug5Ms&gl=GB
Else for frequently asked questions related to SGS2.... http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-faq/
If your phone is rooted and has cwn then, Instead just download and flash the latest wanamlite ROM... it's closest to stock and Is awesome...

Super user
I have just downloaded android terminal emulator when i typed in su a pop up window appeared and asked for permission from superuser... What does that mean? Where can i find wanamlite ROM? Thankyou for you help.
Mostly your phone is rooted then...that popup that appeared was superuser asking for your permission to give it root access..
Well...firstly coz your phone is rooted...you can flash(install) any custom ROM you want on your phone... Its your choice..
You can get the ROMs here in the android development section of SGS2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1204
Else for wanamlite:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436817

How do i perform a wipe? It recommends you to perform one but i cant find anywhere that 1. explains how to do it and 2. does it matter that my phone is only on baseband version 2.something?
You need to learn 'the basics'.
To do a wipe/factory reset; boot into recovery mode - Turn phone off. Hold home/volume up & power buttons. The rest should be self explanatory from there (If it isn't, you seriously do not want to be messing with your phone in the first place. There's a fair chance you'll break it if you persist).
Yeah hah. My phone came like this. Is there any way that i can unroot my phone?
Yes. Flash a stock rom in Odin. Guides on how to do it in that link I gave you, get the stock rom from Samfirmware. This will overwrite your existing rooted kernel/'unroot' the phone.
Easy way
Go into settings -> privacy -> restore to factory defaults.
Bit harder
Turn off you phone, push and hold volume up + home + power button (press simultaneously) till <3e> recovery menu shows up, and then with help of vol up/vol down keys/power to select, use wipe data command.
Thank you. Very much.

Just copy your data and restore phone to defaults. Root access will be destroyed!
Read my previous post
I told you how to do it in my first post, and Mar10o told you how to do it in his. Go back, and read. Very carefully/slowly. Can't make it any simpler than that other than to fly there & do it for you (which you don't have enough money for).

Recovery(cwm) is accessed when you turn on your switched off phone using volume up+home button+ power button...
If you really don't want to get confused and stuff...just flash stock ROM using Odin...that's the best solution I've seen so far...

Well i suppose you're new to this a way too much...so just flash stock ROM via PC(odin) and enjoy the phone, until you get bored and want some mods in it..
I'll recommend you to flash the stock ROM coz factory resetting the phone won't change your kernel...
Also its best to download the stock ROM of your count...you can go on http://www.sammobile.com register there, and download the particular ROM file according to your country (after doing this you won't even need to update via kies...you'll be getting the best official update samsung has to offer you for your country)....
If you download the Stock ROM for your phone from above...repeat the exact same steps below, just remember to use the download file from sammobile instead of the one given...
Restoring stock firmware to your phone
Before you attempt to do any of the steps outlined below, make sure that Samsung's Kies software is not running on your machine. Kies has an unfortunate tendency to cause problems when Odin is attempting to communicate with your device, so ensure it is either disabled or uninstalled entirely. It's also worth noting that following the steps outlined below could wipe your handset, so be sure to back up anything you don't want to lose, just in case.
Once you've got everything set up correctly, completely switch off your phone. Once it's off, press the volume down button, home button and power button together. Use the volume up key to place the phone in Download Mode and you're ready to flash that lovely stock firmware to your device. Connect your phone to your computer using a standard micro-USB cable. If you get a message informing you that your phone hasn't been installed correctly, you'll need to grab those Samsung drivers .
Open up Odin and click the 'PDA' button. Find the official 4.0.3 firmware you downloaded to your computer moments previously and select it. Note that this file has been compressed, so you may need to install WinRAR to extract it before loading into Odin. . Having selected your extracted firmware in Odin, ensure that only the 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time' boxes are ticked in Odin's user interface, then click start.
Odin will work its magic and flash the official firmware to your device. Once it's finished, your phone will reboot automatically, and you'll be the proud owner of a Galaxy S2 with stock (and all-above-board) Ice Cream Sandwich firmware.
If you get any FC's factory reset your phone...
And remember when we say "wipe" it means format...
Idk whether JB is available for you there or not...but after this kies should work just fine for you...
Sorry for spinning your head and involving you in custom ROMs..i should've posted this earlier..
Press Thanx if I helped...

[Q] HELP ME UNBRICK PLEASE. I have been trying for over 6 hours & Nothing.

HELP, i've downloaded countless versions of the Stock recovery MD5 file and none are working to unbrick my Verizon galaxy S4 Firmware ver:*VRUAME7 (came stock with this firmware when purchased) and nothing is working. I was trying to install the recovery files from "sxtpdevelopers"
After successfully rooting using the microSD card method, I stupidly installed GooIM and then tried to install twrp.. I forgot that this version of firmware didn't have the bootloader unlocked yet and when the I booted into recovery it took me straight to " firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." *I already tried KIES recovery but it asks for serial number. THERE NO DAMN serial numbers anywhere on the phone, battery, or box that work. (including IMEI)
I then figured DOWNLOAD MODE worked so let me flash the stock odin file but I keep getting a FAIL installation every time.
FYI; I'm using parallels for mac and windows 8 to run odin. all the com ports are ok and I know there isn't a connection problem.
Any help would be appreciated. THANKS.*

THANK YOU SO MUCH!.. The funny thing is I had downloaded "SCH-I545_VZW_1_20130613171315_24s13crny1_fac.zip" already in my trials and tribulations. Probably the one I downloaded was corrupt because this one installed with a breeze. The one located on that site worked instantly. Now if we can just get that bootloader unlocked. I wish was a programming genius sometimes, I would unlock it; then take that ransom and donate it. Thanks again
Just wanted to say thanks. I was able to use that link + Odin3 to get my friend's Verizon Galaxy S4 back to normal. Best Buy and a Samsung rep at the store were unable to handle this lol

Just a quick question, when installing that zip with ODIN, do you just use PDA?

Yes. Make sure that auto reboot and reset time are checked. Load the zip/tar using PDA and let Odin do its thing.

You need to post the output of Odin or tell us where it failed.. without more information it's kind of hard to tell you what is going on.
If no more information I would just tell to try again

Are you positive you are in Download Mode? Also make sure you do not have Kies installed. Also might want to try to reinstall Samsung drivers after uninstalling them. After that reboot your computer and let them install

Sounds like a usb error. Try another
i got the usb error solved by deleting kies and installing seperate usb drivers. found 2 different .tar files to use in the pda section but cant locate a proper .pit file. the ones that i havve searched for lead to broken or bogus links.

@coltblue,
That pit file lacousier18 linked you should have worked if you are ODIN'ing the correct .tar restore file. You didn't say which Android build you are currently on while trying to restore back to 4.1.2. If you ever installed stock factory builds of 4.3+, then you won't be able to ODIN back to 4.1.2 because your bootloader would have been locked... (you probably know, but any factory stock firmware 4.3 and above permanently locks the bootloader for our Note 2's).
If you were on 4.1.2 bootloader when things got messed up, then you should be able to restore your phone back to 4.1.2 and reroot with CASUAL.
If you were on factory stock 4.3 MJ9 (and just rooted) when things went wrong, you'll have to restore back to MJ9 and root again with saferoot.
There's currently no root method for factory stock 4.4.2.
Either way, you can find Droidstyle's guide at this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34891181
He has all the links for files needed to restore your phone back to 4.1.2 or 4.3.
If Droidstyle's guide helps you, please make sure to hit the thanks button for him. He spent a lot of time putting the guide together for us.
Good luck.

i have tried i605vrufnd7 , and KIES_HOME_I605VRAMC3_I605VZWAMC3_1098177_REV04_ , but not the other 2. i coouldnt find a working link for the others. i shall try them and report back thank you.
success ! odin finally accepted stock 4.1.1 but showed a warning triangle saying not official software on the phone screen. ran 4.4.2 through odin and it worked first try. phone restarted , booted up and loaded 4.4.2 . never lost any settings contacts or data! the big thing i did different was using odin on my desktop with a new usb cable and using the usb 3.0 port. Thanks for all the help !

Glad to hear that you got it restored. It sounds like you were initially running factory 4.4.2 Kit Kat when you had tried to root it to start with.
If you're re on stock 4.4.2 VRUFND7 , then unfortunately - - you can not root the device or unlock the bootloader because there's no rooting method or bootloader unlock method that works right now. You also won't be able to use Odin to downgrade to any of the other Android builds because of lock downs implemented with the 4.4.2 Kit Kat software. The good news is that your phone should run fine on stock 4.4.2 and you can use it again.
Keep your eyes open for new rooting methods.... you never know, someone might figure out how to root it yet.
