HI, folks!
For last week I've been googling around how to get rid of ugly icon background and frames on my new Droid device.
The trouble is that all app icons at the app screen and at desktop screen has that really ugly background color, that seems to be randomly choosed and a transparent frame (see the attached picture). You can see that on Opera, Skype and Navitel icons. In that case background is blue, but for DrWeb icon it's light gray. That makes my crazy! Moreover, it seems to resize icons to fit in this square frames and that makes it looks even more ugly.
After some search I came up for that it moor looks like an Launcher issue/settings. My devise is an OEM Chinese protected phone (more commonly known as Batl S09) and it seem to have Samsung TouchWiz, at least I have SamsungLauncher4.apk at /system/app/ folder and it's marked as Launcher 4.2.2-eng.wsl in Applicatin section in Settings.
Soo, as I'm very noob in Android hacking, I need help there.
same problem...
Hi Guys,
Very odd but seems like this problem doesn't occur many times. It is happening to me too and this thread is the only thing I found on the web on this topic.
Can anybody help as this is really a pain in the a**.
Thanks a lot!

Hello all...
I've looked around and can't find anything to help me out, but I know this can be done. I have Luncher Pro Plus and have a dock background that i would love to see fully. To do this, I need transparent dock images, but don't want the stock ones that came with Launcher Pro. I would love to create my own, but don't know what file type to save as or how exactly to go about this. I know it can be done as the stock Launcher Pro ones are transparent! I have Corel PaintShop available to use as well as drawing software (CAD). So I can draw practically anything I want and save it to any format I want. I just don't know the process of making a white image with a black background to have a transparent background.
To put it this way; I want essentially my dock background (which is nearly solid black) to have a drawn outline of the phone, person, boxes, message, world (see attached image)... no gradient filler like on Launcher Pro ones.
If anyone can point me to a tutorial I am missing somewhere, or simply let me know how to do this, It would be greatly appreciated!! I'm trying to customize my phone and what better way to do it than with completely custom images!!!!
you have to save it as png or gif file (I recommend png, it's higher quality). I use photoshop so I don't know how to do it on corel, this is what a quick google search turned up: http://www.axialis.com/tutorials/tutorial-misc002.html
PS: an image with the grey and white squares as a background while in corel means there's no background (transparent)

I also found... It took me a while playing with corel but I figured it out!! I love having icons that no one else has.... I would recommend everyone playing around with custom icons!

GIMP works very well to edit these images. I have photoshop CS5 for everyday use at work, but when I edit anything in the framework, I use GIMP. Its free, just google it.
I am trying to create my own theme, however, I am a little retarded. So I am looking for some help finding what I need. My homepage is below.
Apps:
Openhome 6
Simi clock/weather/battery
I would like an email and text message icon on the lower left corner, not sure if I should use words or white icons. If I use icons I would like really small ones. Any ideas?
Second, I would like a page that displays my agenda, but I am looking for a white agenda widget, any ideas?
I would also like buttons to adjust volume based profiles?? and I would like white buttons, just the picture not some square box looking icon. Any ideas?
I like the email, calls, and text thing everyone has, but I am not willing to pay 6 bucks for, anything close for less?
I am also looking for a clean lock screen. I saw one the has a slider that looks like >> but not sure which one that is, anyone know?
Any other ideas would be great. Please help me out here. I am really need something useful and clean looking.
Eric
I'm not sure what triggers it, but my wallpaper will be full screen, then all of a sudden it'll just be a square in the middle, as in the sides get cut off, if I rotate it, it usually goes back to normal once it's horizontal again, but it randomly does this and it's driving me so crazy. It's rooted and I'm running Starburst... I've been searching for posts about this but I can't find anything, helpppp. SO annoying!
It doesn't seem to matter what launcher I'm using either.
Same problem for me... Any idea for fixing it ?
To be honest getting wallpaper set on this thing is way harder than it should be, I still haven't worked out a good way to do it. It just ends up cropped, or fugly, or both.
Way harder than it needs to be.
I can get a nice looking wallpaper cropped and everything, but when I'm doing things it randomly gets cut off and looks like crap.

Click to collapse
Yeah I just saw the same thing happen.
So how does everyone get wallpaper to show up without it being cropped? Do you need to download WP larger than 1280x800 so that it can be cropped down to that, or is there an app that'll do it? I've tried several but none seem to work.
I have a thread here discussing how you correctly size a wallpaper to fit your tablet.
So far I've worked out how to do it for ADW Launcher, which selects wallpapers the same way it does for Android phones but I need to look a bit more into TouchWiz.
Other than that there are a number of apps that offer you more control over your wallpapers.Firstly there's MultiPicture Live Wallpaper which allows you to set different images on each page of your homescreen.
Secondly there's Wallpaper for Tablets which lets you set a different landscape and portrait wallpaper and will correctly display a 1280x800 image without cropping.
Last, there's Wallpaper Wizardrii but the controls are really poor and it doesn't offer you anything that one or other of the first two apps I linked-to can't do.
First of all, I'm new to the forum, and this is my first post, tho I've been browsing through it many times before, whenever I needed something for my android, and now I got a question I can't really find the answer to, and you seem like the best people to ask, so;
I bought Huawei P20 Lite just recently, and it's a great device, it looks nice and it's running OREO (8.0), but what I found a little bit frustrating is that my stock color of the notification/quick setting bar is black, with settings turning green when ON (instead of semi-transparent whitish color) and that's a stock version of it, I didn't change themes or anything, just a launcher and a wallpaper, so I was wondering if there was a way to somehow recolor it? Thanks in advance.
Hi guys,
I'm not very active on here as I can almost always find the answer I need by some extensive searching but I seem stumped on this one so I'm hoping someone can help me fix this or at least give me a definitive answer one way or another...
So a little context:
I've recently been customising a new phone (one plus 6) and I've decided to go the dark themed route as I've always loved how it looks.
All my wallpapers are mostly black, I'm using the dark theme in whatever apps and settings give the option and I've got a lovely looking outlined set of icons which really pop on the dark backgrounds.
I've also been trying out nova launcher but I don't have prime yet and this one issue is pretty much the last thing holding me back from upgrading...
In case it matters, I'm not rooted but I think I probably will at some point.
The problem:
So I really like the app search popup from nova but the issue is that it uses the light theme despite having night mode 'always' enabled in the settings. This is a bigger problem than just looks as a lot of my icons are white line based meaning they're actually practically invisible on the search bar.
Now, the toggles for 'search bar', 'drawer icon' and 'folders' in the night mode settings don't seem to change anything as far as I can see (I would've thought it was search bar but maybe it's referring to one elsewhere).
The 'Drawer' toggle DOES change the search bar to dark which is great but that unfortunately also means it overrides my transparency on the app drawer which I really want to keep as all my backgrounds are dark anyway and I love seeing my wallpapers through the drawer.
TL;DR:
Can anyone point me to a way to make the app search bar dark (or even transparent) but without overriding the opacity settings of my app drawer?
I can understand the two being coupled as they kind of do the same thing but a separate night mode toggle for each would be amazing.
Apologies for the somewhat verbose description of a pretty simple problem... I even seem to have had to split the post up as I guess it was too long and thanks in advance to anyone who's willing to help!
