Folks,
Attached is a graph of my Amaze's battery cycle. The discharge curve is for a normal to heavy use and charging curve. The right side shows charging straight to full using AC wall charger. The battery charges to about 70% pretty quickly, maybe within 1.5 hr but then as you see in the graph it takes another 2 hrs to go to 100%. Is this normal? I have a Galaxy Nexus with same age battery (2 yr old) running cyanogenmod 11, it's battery charges full in less than 2 hr and the charging curve is pretty much steep all the way to full, without slowing down for the last 30%. Any thoughts?
Cheers

Interesting thing, after waiting to get full charge at 80% if I reboot into recovery, it shows full battery. See the attached screen shot, after rebooting at 80% it has jumped to 100%.

The best way to charge is to pull the battery and then plug in. Test how long it takes to charge from there

There's been another thread in this about a year ago..

Thanks, I presume you suggest charging without turning it on then?.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using Tapatalk 2
Yes, and pulling the battery makes sure it's fully off. Some Roms enable fastboot by default so when you think you shut off your phone it's still on.

I just bought this phone and I don't know if its because its brand new or what but it doesn't charge completely.
It will charge up to 100% but then the percentage will decrease and the green light that let's you know its fully charged stays on yet the percentage lowers drastically and this is while its still on the charger plugged in and everything.
Does anyone else have this problem or experienced this?

That's the circuit kicking in to prevent overcharging of the battery. It's normal.

Will it get better over time because Ive had plenty of android phones and this is the only one that loses its charge while still on the charger.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Yes it is like this on all EVO 3D as well as the EVO 4G. I'm not sure if it like that with only HTC phones or just the EVO brands.
Take it off once it turns green, it's full. If you leave it plugged in longer it will stop using the charger and use battery till it gets down to like 90% then the charger kicks back on.
Okay it was just a shock to me because I owned the vibrant, incredible, and g2 and the 3vo is the only one thats done this. But if its normal I guess I have nothing to worry about. Althought I still may get a replacement, I just charged it completely and its down to 53% after only 2 hours and 20 minutes and the only thing I've done so far is post this thread on xda haha.

I have only had my evo 3d for 4 day's now rooted and s-off but never been able to achieve full charge yet
I always seem to get between 95% - 99% does anyone else have this problem?

Yep, normal. The first few times I charged my phone, it would sit at 99% for hours and hours, then finally go to 100.
Thanks guys thought I'd just got a dud battery

if you want to fix that issue, turn it off, charge it till light turns green, turn it on.
just run a few battery cycles man. it is perfectly normal.

It will charge up to 99 the go down to 95 then back up to 99. It will be like that to protect your battery.

Your battery will charge to 100%. When it reaches 99% just unplug it and plug it in again.

""Shooter on Deck""
its normal in every phone.electronic devices. the 1-2% are reserved in case user unplugs power before 100% is reached.you will see 100% if u charge overnight or turn the device off-charge until green and then turn on and charge again until green--bam!100%
The og evo used to do this but instead of reporting the battery percentage dropping it would report 100% no matter what. Its a huge problem if you have a bad charging cable cause it'll sit there at 100% till it kills the battery to zero.

This so far is the only phone I've had that shows the battery like this all the others showed up as 100% that aside it's an excellent piece of kit

Was just curious to know how long it takes you guys to charge your EVOs. I think my phone takes a ridiculous amount of time to charge and the battery seems to discharge at a faster rate than when I first got the phone. I'm am currently charging my phone from a complete drain. It has been 6 hours and it is still only 90% finished. That can't be correct?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Depending on how many accounts you have and at what frequency they update determines your battery life dramatically even if being charged. I have 8 different accounts which the phone says is high but it still takes around 3 to 4ish hours to fully charge from zip. If you basically put your phone in airplane mode or just turn phone off it'll charge fully in what feels like an hour but really probably an hour and a half or so.

Wow. My phone charges incredibly fast. So fast that I never trust it. It'll go from 20%-80% in 40 min. But the last hump from 99%-100% takes a while.

I'm honestly not sure what to think. Next time ill try it with the phone off. But as it stands two hours have passed since I made this post but the battery light still isn't green though the battery does appear to be full according to its icon.

I'm in the same boat. It takes forever to charge. I remember I could be around 25& on the evo and would charge for probably 25 minutes before work and would be fully charged or almost fully charged.
Mine charges faster than my S2 and that was fast. I went from 45%to 95 in a hr.

My battery charges way too fast...
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Mine charges from 20%-90% in less than an hour, but from 90%-100% takes almost an hour. I assume its just the way it displays battery% or the amps drop down near the end.

Been using this since full charge watching directv, plex, vevo, YouTube and battery seems decent. Still no match with my buddy's Note 2. But acceptable.

I had some issues with my battery when I got it. Turns out the stock clock/weather thing on the lock screen couldn't get a lock on my position (just kept saying "current location"), and would run GPS for 10 seconds whenever I unlocked my phone. After fiddling with GPS and the weather settings themselves for awhile to no avail, I said F it and just let it happen. Eventually it got a lock and since then battery life has been fine.
Battery is fine for me

Battery been great. Way better than the s3. Just wished I could still view screen on time

Battery has been surprisingly good after the first day. Unplugged over 10 hours with about two hours screen time and at 60%.

just returned a Note 2 and although its not right up there with it, its still pretty good.
I have been incredibly happy with the battery life. It's solid and wonderful.

Battery has it's ups and downs for me....like today I had less the 6 hours off the charger and got like 2.5 on screen time and battery was down below 30%...haven't been able to get over 13 hours on a charge with moderate usuage....turned off lte which helped some but not a lot

Going to mess around with settings. It could be that I'm spoiled with my note 2.

Buy a new phone.
I started this morning around 75% and got to 8% in about 8 hours of heavy usage. I must have sent a few hundred texts today along with a bunch of snapchats, took a bunch of pictures, web browsing, some Navigation use, an hour or so of Skyping, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Battery saver was on, but I had data running all day, Wifi and LTE per the situation. It actually said that Messaging was the main battery hog at 32%.
What I've taken from it is that if you're going to be using the phone heavily, it doesn't hurt to have a charger.
Where do you guys see how much screen time is used? I don't see it with sense
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Weird, my battery just went from 8% to 32% from being on the charger for a few minutes.
I guess it's not calibrated very accurately yet.
Has anyone had an issue charging their phone to 100%? My phone seems to get stuck at 99%.
I haven't noticed it but in the past with other devices, I could drain all the way down and charge up to full to fix.

Well it takes a while when at 99%, but don't touch it while it's on and wait for it to top off. It's probably trickle charging at 99%.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
I read here somewhere that from 99% to 100% took about 20-30mins. It could be a firmware thing or they can be doing what Apple is doing so you don't overcharge it.

It's possible, that's how long it takes for mine.

I've had my one for three days now and I've charged it twice, the first time it took about three hours to charge and Ya it took a long time for it to go from 99-100 percent the second time it seemed to go quicker...just what I've experienced.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Mine stops charging at 90%. Its weird.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
It charges and discharges to conserve the life on the battery. If the phone was kept on a 100% charge the whole time then that would decrease the life of your battery drastically.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I wouldn't worry about it. It's better to keep it at less than 100%. If there was a manual settings threshold, I would keep them as start charging when below 70% and stop at 90%. This is my battery charge threshold setting on my Thinkpad X230T laptop.
