Status 7? - Sony Tablet S

I have OTA updated 4.0.3 (release5a) before seeing all the warnings
I then tried doing the CFW patch using the AIO tool and got Status 7 - am I right in thinking that is because I was a muppet and did the first OTA update....... WHEN WILL I LEARN?????
Now google play would not download anything, now its working.
It is now asking to OTA the same version, will I lose my root? is it worth updating or is it just the fake OTA updates I was warned about when trying to put the CFW on?
Just checked my root and it works.

Root phone with new OTA

Installed the new OTA update on my phone without really thinking and i'm now wondering if it's still possible to root my phone and install a custom rom.
You could try this and let us know how you got on,....
[HOWTO] Root HTC Official 2.1! (Untested)
Just thought I should mention that the update I have is NOT the 2.1 update.

Need questions answered ASAP, please.

So, I got my HTC Thunderbolt, rooted it, then unrooted it.
Would I be able to install the official MR2 OTA update from "Settings" then reroot my phone? I heard once installing this OTA update, rooting wasn't possible.
Or would I have to go an alternate route of rooting, then flashing an MR2 based ROM?
I'm completely lost, as I'm coming from a Droid X.
Also, what is this MR2.5 I'm hearing about? Is this just a leaked future OTA update?
Thanks in advance!
You could upgrade then root using the current method, but there's no point as it will downgrade you. If you want the OTA and root just root you phone, then flash the radio through hboot and a rooted version of the OTA ROM through recovery.
That's the MR2.5 update. hm, since it's a leak, it might not be 100% stable, correct?
Also, how often is that rooted version of the OTA ROM updated? It's not updated very frequently, is it? Is it just updated when a new OTA update comes out?
No, that's the "Official OTA MR2 Radio". Meaning the one that was pushed out via official over the air update, I've been running it since it dropped, not a single reboot (everyone's experience it different). You are correct on the ROM, only updated when HTC/VZW drop and update.
So, I just rooted my phone. Now I flash the MR2 update, and then the rooted version of the OTA ROM and I'll be good to go?
Why do I even need the rooted version of the OTA ROM? Is that so it'll be able to support the MR2 update?
No, there are many ROMs that support the MR2 radio. Check out the developement section, it will usually say in the OP what radio works with a given ROM. You mentioned updating then rooting so I assumed you wanted to use the OTA. You know what happens when you assume.
So the ROM you directed me to is pretty much stock? Nothing removed, nothing added?
It is debloated and has superuser and busybox (for root access). This one only has superuser and busybox (no bloat removed).

Last time I updated via KIES I did´nt do anything else as plug the phone in and update via KIES. BUT afther the update I lost my root, but no problem to root it again.
Thankyou mlhdk for helping
I already figured it out what todo as following:
I rooted my device again with newer version of CF-Root v6.3 as it supports Stock Firmware Updating (OTA) and rooted once more after successfully updating my device stock firmware.
Thanks to Chainfire (Life Saver)

Quick question, do you need to reinstall all the apps (root only apps) again after updating & reroot?
Maybe you cam help with this issue:
Phone was rooted and I downloaded the firmware via OTA (I didn't know!). I re-rooted it with CF-Root 6.3, which went fine.
Now If I check for software update it says "no update available." The build though is still the old I9300XXALE8 instead of ALF6.
Is the updated firmware file saved somewhere, and if yes can I install it via CWM?
What else can I do?
Thanks
Jay

[Q] Should I update to JB OTA after rooting+unlocking?

I received an S3 which was locked so I proceeded to root it and unlock it. My question is, should I update to Jellybean OTA ? I don't care about removing root but I want to make sure it remains unlocked.
bump
From what I read you can't update via OTA if you're rooted especially if you have installed custom recoveries. Or have modified some system files like radios. You may still receive OTA message but at some point of the install process it may fail. That is why it's best to stay on stock if you're planning on OTA updates.

[Q] Sprint Note 2 roll out kitkat but I have stock root.

So this mornining I received the message to update my phone to KitKat, but when I installed it, nothing happened. Am I stupid for thinking it would update a stock root? I used the chainfire automatic root method. How do I obtain KitKat and root? Thank you in advance guys.
It's best to update via PC and Odin. I doubt they'll have that file ready for a bit though. You probably want to wait anyway since I don't believe there is a root method available yet since it just dropped.
