For quite awhile now, Helium has been either making fast backups, slows down for some apps (like the Stark icon pack or Widget Locker), then the backup crashes, not being able to backup at all, it simply gets stuck, or it makes a full backup. I've tried it with cloud storage (Google Drive, Box, and Dropbox), internal storage, and external storage. I've also tried with the Helium server running Chrome for Mac OS X (Lion 10.7.5), and it still would stop at 8.4 megabytes. If it also helps (I don't think it would but it might), my wifi speeds are sixteen down and one up. Anyone know why? If anyone can then help, thanks.

I went to do a nandroid backup and it failed, "no space on my SD card".
Thats weird, as usually have at least 4 gig on my Nexus S 4g.
Poking around, it was the cache from Google plus, com.google.android.apps.plus (Android\data). That, coupled with my titanium backup of same ate my SDCARD. easy to fix Titanium from backup it up, but the cache is still several gigs large. 40,000 + files with [number].screen extensions.
I have like 2 friends on google+, 3 posts, and can not for the life of me figure out what in the world all that data is.
I'm going to remove the data , freeze the app, but just wanted to know if anyone else noticed a disproportionate amount of data in the Google+ app compared to the amount of activity/usage I have on google+.

Old thread I know, but it probably is Google Plus photos sync. What I'm wondering is if auto backup could be done without also having to sync G+ albums to the phone.
I have the Titanium Backup pro running on my Prime. When I try to do a dropbox sync, it fails about 1/3 way. I've re-tried a few times, with no luck. Anyone get it to work on the Prime? My theory is that since the Dropbox android client can only upload a max file size of around 170 MB, a big backup file is the root of the sync failure. Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to tell on what file the dropbox sync fails.
Given my theory, I followed the Titanium Wiki and tried to use labels. I downloaded "apps organizer" and labelled a bunch of apps. When I go into Titanium and try to modify the Dropbox settings, the only option is to uncheck synch everything. I cannot figure out how to set a label for dropbox sync. Any ideas?
Finally, I wanted to submit some sort of bug report to titanium on this subject, but I have not found a link to do so. Does anyone have a link or email address to submit bugs to Titanium?

I had the same problem but just kept re-syncing. It picked up from where it left off the last time.
I don't know how many times you tried but it took me 5 or 6 to finally get it all.
I did try again a few times and it would get a bit further. But now its stuck on ~1.3 GB left and it seems like it doesn't even attempt to upload as the screen flickers right away and says Dropbox syn failed.
Anyone find out any news on how to tell what failed? I'm having issues uploading to both Dropbox and Box with an upload failing eventually. Happens to both my Transformer Prime and my Evo3D

having this problem too. i rub sync with dropbox in titanium but at same point the sync stops and error appe ars. frickin annoying. i'm on shared wlan with familije amd we have crappy upload do i want to backup cca 700 mb but it never finishes the sync. i'm frustrated with this :-(
Same problem here, I just never even get an error message until I force it to stop. Otherwise it will sit there indefinitely at the same percentage.
I've deleted and changed the Dropbox folders for TiBu several times, and it gets stuck in the same place every time. Making current backups and I'll be trying to u/l to Dropbox again (this being a more fresh install), I'll likely also try it out on my phone to see how it works. I never was really interested in it until the Prime and the fact that the internal SD card just has to get formatted by manual updates and factory resets.

the solution I found was to let this file out of the TI Backup I keep on Dropbox.
You can do this by using one of the TI Backup options that let you see the size of your back ups, then just organize it by size and voila, you can easly find the culprit.
Now for the label thing, you could make a label with those files and another label for everything else and that way keep those files away from screwing with Dropbox sync.
The way to actually make these labels is using the label option WITHIN Titanium, not 3rd Apps
Where did you find this option? I cannot find the size of the backups..
I've just setup to go to google drive to see if that will work instead.

I have exactly the same problem so I 'solved' it with your lable idea. (I think - this is a very difficult place to mess around with!)
However, when a new app is installed it won't be in the label, right?
So, every new app will not be synchronised with Dropbox!
I wonder whose fault this is:
- Titanium cannot create/manipulate larger files synchronisation
- Dropbox refuses larger files (though it works from my PC!)
- Dropbox has only given Titanium the rights for files up to appr.180Mb
I also had problems with Titanium Backup failing to upload the backup data to the cloud with it's built in cloud backup feature. I scheduled the cloud backup to run once a day, but it fails very often. There was always another error coming up: Low battery (though battery is full charged), network error (my Wifi works flawlessly), internal errors etc. It finished successfully in only about 25 % of the cases. That is not really reliable - reliability beeing very important in respect of backups. So I found a solution, which I want to share with you: I dismissed the Titanium cloud backup schedule and set up the backup schedule with another app. The app is called "FolderSync", available in the playstore and it works superb.

So now that I have a phone with an internal SD card, I am particularly worried about data, or what would happen if I can no longer take it off of a device. Previously an SD card could just be removed from a dead device, but not so now.
I'm using foldersync to mirror data, but I was wondering what were the essential folders to sync. I can figure out most of them, but I'm struggling with the Android folder in root. Is there any valuable information in here or is it all temporary and so not required to be backed up?

if you don't care about storage space and automation and you happen to use TotalCommander for PC, it has perfect "Synchronize Dirs" feature, with in my personal experience (after many tests of different solutions) wins every time due to high customisation, ease of use and option of binary comparison
You don't need to backup the Android folder. It's mostly just full of data files for certain apps. Like Google Maps saved map data, cached music from Google Music, game data, small preferences files for some apps etc. Nothing important. Even if you delete the contents of the whole Android folder, they'll be re-created on boot or when you run those apps next. Map data, Google music etc should be downloaded again manually. It's a waste of space to back it up as it can be 2GB or more sometimes. Generally, only backup your personal data like pictures, videos, music, downloads etc. Things which you've put there yourself. Also backup any folders of backup related apps like SMSBackup&Restore, Titanium Backup and recovery folder with nandroid backups. Personal files + backup app data is all you need to backup from the SD card. Everything else is insignificant and will be recreated anyway by the respective apps.
Thanks sashank, that's what I thought. It's a pain to backup because of the size and usage.
Looking at the docs however it seems apps can put whatever data they want there, including settings. So I guess this depends on the app itself and how well it behaves itself. I guess I will have to be discerning and backup individual files in the folder depending on how important the app is to me. Which sucks.

Well I'm using Foldersync to do this automatically already. I just didn't want to spend time and energy maintaining a backup of redundant cache data!

It's never a good idea to restore to much Data, especially between Devices. Restoring SMS / MMS should not really be an issue. Neither should games. Although again it could possibly cause issues. I use TB ( Titanium Backup Pro ) to restore apps sometimes. Works great. Although I try to avoid restoring Data.
You can use Titanium Backup to backup everything on your old phone to a External SD Card, then take the SD Card and put it into your New Phone's slot. Then Download Titanium Backup on your new phone and restore everything.
i have titanium back up and its good. It feels a lil over complicated to recommend it to friends though. even i had to play with it for 10 min to understand how it works lol but it seems thats the prevailing option. Was wondering if there was anything else out there i didnt know of.
What do you use to back up and restore to PC? I tried Wondershare Mobile trans but it sticks at a certain point and I have to cancel and it takes hours and I lose progress! Any info on what others are using for backup tp PC would be great!

There is a bit of a learning curve to set it up as you want to,but once you do get the hang of it you can back up all the usual things (contacts,calendars,photos,music,etc)
Everything on my unrooted 10+ is backed up to the SD card which I use as a data drive and store all critical data there. The SD card is backed up to the PC data drive and a seperate hdd stored remotely. Critical bookmarks are saved on Colornote which is 3X backup.
Smartswitch is used for some backup and apps like Poweramp have their own backup files.
All apks and updates are backed up with ApkExport as well; no Playstore or cloud crap needed for a full restore. I can do a full restore with no external sources needed.
After 2 forced reloads I streamlined the process... with over 349 gb of data, the data drive saves hours of uploading from the PC.
Implement a complete plan now before you need it and have triple redundancy in place.
Only two types of data users; those who have lost data and those that will.
Crashes both software/hardware caused are mostly unpredictable and can happen at any moment.
The 10+ is rock solid stable but no OS is completely impervious to poorly written apks and malware. Be prepared... or suffer.

I see, but how come when I load up a bruteforce program (passfab for rar as an example), it doesn't detect it as an encrypted file? Like, sometimes it doesn't even show up visibly in my directory as a usable file. I get what you're saying, but...

Better stay away from their software. Too heavy and bad programming in general. Also backups can be restored only if you buy the s*it...
Better just take an attitude that nothing is that important. Tons of stuff but I don't have backups at all. If it goes it goes. Before computers how people managed to live at all without them...
Have never used 3rd-party apps , free or paid. I do it via simple scripts.
