I recently tried to flash my HTC sensation from stock ROM to Cyanogenmod 10.2 nightly. I had previously rooted my phone using Revolutionary and Unlock Root Pro. The phone used to work fine before I tried to flash its ROM. Being a newbie to flashing, I forgot to follow the steps of flashing the phone correctly and messed my phone. The problem is the phone boots to the custom Rom(Cyanogenmod 10.2) and works for about 10 to 15 seconds and then becomes unresponsive and reboots again. This process occurs repeatedly. I read online that this means my phone is soft bricked. I tried to follow through the flashing process again and re-flashed my phone, but nothing changed! I also tried to wipe the cache and factory reset it, but again that was unsuccessful. By the way I'm using Clockwork Mod Recovery v5.0.2. So please help me fix my phone, as I can't afford to lose it and thanks in advance.

You should reflash your stock rom and then follow the steps and again flash cyanogen mod.
Hope this will help, hit thanks if I had helped you.

Actually, after searching around the forum and the internet, I flashed my firmware and installed(flashed) my phone with Android Revolution HD 7.3, it is working very well know, in fact, I'm glad I didn't have the cyanogenmod flashed. Anyways, Thanks for your concern,:good:

I'm not new to rooting or installing custom roms but my note has me stumped. I followed all the guidelines with rooting and after flashing a new kernal through odin my phone would be stuck at the samsung splash screen. Figuring I bricked It I flashed the stock one and now my phone wont get past the Telus splash screen.
Did I cook this phone? I had no issues with my S and S2 before this I cant figure it out.

You are ok. That is a bad flash. Just reread the instructions then carefully redo your work.
Ranger is correct....
You are soft bricked ....and simply need a good cleaning and reflash ...g
Yeah try a good factory reset

Well thanks guys the only way I managed to get it working was to flash the stock at&t rom. Now if I can just figure out why it's not letting me install a custom rom then ill be set. I'll just keep it digging in the super thread

You need to install a custom recovery to install a custom Rom

I'm using clockwork touch but when I select roms from my sdcard it gives me an error and fail.
Is CWM touch the latest version ??
You may need to update your recovery.
I'm running TWRP 2.3.2.3 and have no flashing issues ...g
Use twrp recovery! The cwm touch found in a lot of these root threads is out of date and will give you errors! I got stuck in boot loop too and had to do this!

Hello XDA,
I am new to these forums and I was wondering whether or not anybody can help me with my issue. Recently, I flashed the MIUI Rom(2.12.21) on my HTC Evo 3D (Virgin Mobile). I didn't flash any custom kernels, as I am a noob to rooting/flashing roms and just recently learned how to do so. So I flashed MIUI, and everything went well. I started up my phone, and everything was smooth and I was happy with the rom. But, for some reason, whenever I try to turn on the wifi, it keeps getting stuck on the "Turning on" state. I've tried restarting the phone with no luck. I searched about this issue online and heard about a WIFI fix for MIUI? I'm not really sure, but if someone could help me that would make my day . I have no other issues with the rom, it is an excellent one. Thank you everyone, I hope to get an answer soon. Bye!

EDIT #2: Okay so I tried to flash an earlier version of MIUI (2.8.17) and was successful, but the WIFI was still stuck on "Turning on..." everytime I try. Can someone please help with this issue? Is there a certain kernel I must flash for this to work? Thank you!
EDIT #3: SOLVED. Had to reflash kernel seperately. Thank you too coal686 for helping!

EDIT: I tried to reflash, but again no luck. I am currently flashing an older version of MIUI for Evo 3D, and I'll post how it goes.
Are you s-on? If so, you must flash the kernel separately. Use either fastboot or smart flash in 4ext recovery.

I am s-on. Which kernel am I supposed to flash, can you link me too it or give me a name? And what's 4ext recovery? Is that just the normal recovery? Sorry for being such a noob, but thank you!

The kernel is the boot.img file from the Rom zip. 4ext is a custom recovery. If you search this site, you'll find it (I'm on my phone).

A couple weeks ago I flashed the Midnight rom for my Evo V, and I flashed the boot.img file seperately. I used TeamWin recovery to do so, and it worked. So can I do the same with the MIUI? Again, thank you for the help.

Of course I post how it goes!
4ext custom recovery
The nice thing about that recovery is that the recovery asks if you are s-off and if you are s-on then it auto flashes the kernel separately for you.
Hey guys,
i have a problem with my phone (Droid Razr, XT910 with Stock Android 4.1.2).
Today I decided to root my phone and install a custom rom.
At first I got root, then I have rebooted my phone and everything workes OK.
After that I installed RazrTouchBlack.apk and clicked on "Install Clockworkmod touch" and afterwards "reboot cwm touch".
The phone made a reboot and i backed up my system with the backup function in cwm.
Then i did a reboot and the Error "Encryption unsuccessful" occurs:
I tried to use the "Reset phone" function but after the next reboot the same error occurs again.
At next I tried to open the "Recovery" but that screen comes up:
After hours of searching the Net I haven't any idea anymore.
May someone help me?
Thanks in advance

How can i get CWM to work?
I tried RazrTouchBlack.apk and RazrBootstrap.apk
Is this "Encryption" a Feature/Bug which can be turned off?
Avoid using CWM.
Use Safestrap or BMM instead.

Ok, thanks. I'll give Safestrap a try.
Safestarp is better then cwm but if still ya want cwm just use bootstrap to install cwm . Thats pretty easier
Please hit the thanks  if i ever helped ya !!

Hi Anurag,
Thanks for your help.
I have the same problem with this Encryption Unsuccessful message.
I flashed the new MIUI v. 3.9.27 on my XT910. I followed the instructions as I always do, but can't get pass this screen.
I also tried Android Razr HD Utility and sometimes it allows me to use my phone, but whenever I have to reboot it, it goes straight to the AP fastboot screen.
I've tried to flash an ICS ROM just to restart it all, but it says my phone is locked and I can't flash it.
And if I can choose to go to recovery, appears this screen with android and the red triangle, like a dead end.
I'm a complete noob, but I can follow the steps, hehehe. If you could help me out here, and point me some tutorial to get out of this mess, I will apreciate.
Thanks
Lucas
Hi Lucas,
to restore your phone you have to restart from a clean installation from rsd .. Here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231289 you can find the complete instrucrion to how to.
When you are on clean JB follow this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257137 to root your phone and install BMM from market.
OK now you have your phone rooted and with custom recovery and you can install every ROM do you want! Enjoy!

Are You Using RSDlite To flash?
Thank you Vince.
I managed to flash a stock Moto JB ROM back to my phone and I was wondering how to root it again.
Nick, yes. I was using RDS Lite and I finally did it. I don't know exactly what I did differently. But it worked.
Now I am wondering If I should try again to flash MIUI or if I will stick to this lousy Motorola ROM.
Should I?
Thanks again!
Lucas
I have used for so long the MIUI on my old DHD first and on the RAZR later, and i can say that is not the best rom ever, because it's based on stock kernel. yes you can change UI, manage options etc but if the kernel is the same I think is not a good job. I can reccomend the CM. The 10.1 is JB 4.2.2 based and it's stable version, the 10.2 is JB 4.3 based and it's a nightlies, but i run the last one and use it for daily use with the JBX Kernel with no problem. Try and give a look on the development thread there are a lot of roms that you can try!
Have a nice mod! :good:

hi there,
i really hope someone can help me. got an international s3 and was fine on stock rom and one or two other roms with TWRP touch screen recovery.
i recently was on s4 revolution 7.0 which was good but then came across the Smart Phone Revolution rom which looked amazing and had very good reviews. i decided to flas it using the same normal method but the rom doesn't seem to flash. i kep getting a "failed" message on the recovery screen. Tried going back to previous rom which was also doing the same, then last night it got back to the aroma installer for that rom so i thought i'd at least have a working phone again! I followed the procedure and went to rebooot, but nothing happens after the initial samsung screen shows up.
Can anyone help me please ? ! ? !
I'd really prefer the SPR rom to work, if not then any recommendations of roms will be appreciated too.
Thnx in advance
Search before posting, if a factory reset doesn't help then you've flashed a corrupt file.
Try flashing a full stock rom using odin, follow the guide in general forum stickies.
Don't ask for rom recommendations.
hi.
thanx for your reply. please could you send me a link for the thread with the stock rom flash via odin.
No. Don't be lazy, go read the sticky thread.
