NFC on screenoff and lockscreen - Nexus 5 - Nexus 5 Android Development

I modified the NfcNci.apk of different bases and ROMs to offer you the ability to use the NFC chip of your Nexus 5 not only while you are active but also while the screen is off and/or while the lockscreen is shown.
You have three options when to use NFC:
lockscreen and screen off
lockscreen
unlocked
USAGE
Rename the attachment to NfcNci.apk
Backup your /system/app/NfcNci.apk and NfcNci.dex (if existing)
Delete /system/app/NfcNci.dex (if existing)
Replace the original in /system/app - to keep permission use adb:
adb remount
adb push NfcNci.apk /system/app
Reboot phone (adb reboot)
Disable NFC
Enable NFC
The compatibility depends on the framework/base. If your ROM has the same specifications like one existing you can use the posted.
If none of the version work (test it!) make an Feature Request

I know it was for stock but had to try it on SlimRom, it didn't work. I'm not sure if SlimRom is planning this feature at all. Would be nice though.

Not work with the ROM Odex ?

Not working on CM11 either, I hope OP get it to work on CM11. I could provide the NFC apk, if that will help. Thanks.

Sorry. Somehow didn't subscribe my thread ans so got no notifications.

I added the mod for CM 11. Based on the nightly 20140309.

I've been using NFC tags for few weeks now, and always wondered if this was possible
I will test this tonight, thanks a lot !

Thanks! Question though. I would have thought one universal apk would work. Why are they different for the Roms? Isn't it straight from Google? Or does it just have to do with the way it's signed..

The main difference between the AOSP-based are the different frameworks which differ with optical changes or new menus etc. and CyanogenMOD is cooking own things.
Only stock is original Google.

Thanks again! I was on cataclysm for long tome and it had a feature built into the ROM to have the three options you are doing. I moved to purity and missed this feature a lot. I have NFC tags throughout my house, car and work. With this mod, I now have a perfect ROM for my needs

I think most people don't want trackball wake as it's only for people having power button broken (wonder why there are som any nexus one with broken power button ?? mine is totally fine after 2 years of intense usage)...
in texas ice rom there's an option to desactivate it ... can it be added to AOKP (and CM10 along the way ... )

I must say, this is a pretty impressive port. Is odd that Google Voice works on this and not Drew's as it is the same base. Any possibility of getting the stock keyboard back in there? I know you can download the one from the Play store, but its not as good and the included one is too cartoonish for my liking. Well done though!

4.3 TW Vzw Patch SS or MDK For XXUE [MKF] [ML1] [ML6] [ML9] [NA4] Int Roms 02-19-14

This Patch Is For 4.3 TW International Based Roms. It Will Not Work With 4.4 TW KitKat Roms!!
Works on:
[XXUEMK8] [XXUEMKF] [XXUEML1] [XXUEML6] [XXUEML9] [XXUENA4] International Based Roms
This is a Patch for TW 4.3 XXUE International Base Roms to work on 4.3 Verizon S4 with MDK firmware and custom recovery. There is a Minimum Patch which does not change the build.prop or contacts or dialer but some features of verizon will not work such as the ability to change from global mode to cdma/lte only mode and the signal icons will be international version not the verzion ones. Use this patch if the rom you are using is heavily themed. The Full Patch changers build.prop and flashes stock versions of the international dark dialer and contacts that will maintain more verizon functions along with using vzw signal icons and the ability to change from global mode and cdma/lte only mode. Use this patch to make the rom the most compatible with verizon. Both patches contain a modified version of the International dark themed SecMms.apk which works to receive both sms and mms and group messages. This app is required and cannot be changed so if the rom has a themed messaging app it will be replaced with mine. Sorry but thats the way it is.
THESE ARE NOT MY ROMS OR KERNALS I DONT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS IF SOMETHING DOES NOT WORK I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE!
Instructions:
1: Download An International Rom [XXUEMK8] [XXUEMKF] [XXUEML1] [XXUEML6] [XXUEML9] [XXUENA4]

4: Install VZW Patch Full Or Minimum
5: Reboot
6: Go through Setup

Other issues I've seen is sometimes it'll take 2-3 minutes to boot up. There could be an explanation for this that I'm not aware of. It's also froze on me while charging. Screen was still off but nothing I could do would unlock it but the red LED indicator light was responding to the charge plug still.

Phone froze again with the screen off. This time I was pressing the power button on and off, testing the lag of the lockscreen. One more time and I'm going back to Eclipse! Also, AdBlock doesn't work on Android 4.3 so I'm trying Adblock Plus in the meantime. https://adblockplus.org/en/android-install

I haven't tried other LP ROMs so I don't really know the difference. But i have already mentioned what has been added over stock AOSP.
I'll add kernel info, bugs, and screenshots later on along with BETA 2. And what do you mean by 'special flavour'?
Thanks for the suggestions!

Didn't I say I did that
Is this rom also had changes that sykopompos did? Or you worked on factory images and added your changes in it?
Good work in any case
BTW, I use CWM.

Oh sorry i read 'Had' as 'How'. Happens when you're high
Yes it has some changes made by sykopompos. I reverted the SElinux stuff though now that chainfire managed to get root even with enforcing SELinux.

Honestly i am planning to add a lot of features from KK. But forward porting is being a pain bcoz not only is code change drastic but some of the paths to certain files have also changed. Hence a simple cherry pick is not going to work for deep system level mods. Hence it's taking a lot of time.
ATM i'm working on bringing a network mode toggle to the QS and a vibrate when the other person picks up your call.

[APP][XPOSED][1.0] hellsCode - A KnockCode mod for hellsCore kernel

Code:
/** Disclaimer
* The usual stuff, I am not responsible for any damages from this mod,
* either to you phone, your job, your house, your kitten, blah blah…
*/
Introduction, How it works, etc.
This is a KnockCode feature addition for hellsCore kernel on our beloved Nexus 4.
I created this mod by modifying Stratoks's dt2wake in hellsCore kernel that you can input a pattern on the screen, which is separated in a grid of 4 rectangles (For further explanation search for LG KNOCKcode on Google). I record that pattern in Touchscreen driver, and then write it into a sysfs file.
In the second step, the hellsCode config Xposed module reads the code from that file, and compares it to the code saved in its preferences. If the code was correct, it finishes the Keyguard to unlock your device.
If the code is wrong, the screen still goes on, but this time shows the Keyguard. That means you can also use it as QuadrupleTap2Wake
At the moment, this mod heavily relies on Xposed, but I hope that I can integrate this mod directly into some custom roms, I will write a guide for rom creators later.
Since B80, my mod is merged into the official hellsCore kernel.

Installation instructions
* You need Xposed for this to work properly
* Install hellsCore kernel from here (since B80)
* Install hellsCodeConfig.apk, activate in Xposed installer, reboot.
* Set up your code in hellsCode Config app.
* You need to have doubletap2wake enabled in your favorite Kernel manager, and also enable the mod with
echo 1 > "/sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/hells_code_enabled"
To disable temporarily, do echo 0 > "/sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/hells_code_enabled", to remove permanently uninstall the hellsCode Config app.

FAQ
Why isn't there a version for CM?
-- There actually is one, just take a look at the official hellsCore kernel, which includes the mod since B80.
The device sometimes unlocks when woken up with the power button, why does this happen?
-- That was a bug, fixed with config 1.1

Good job man, will try this asap!
is it echo 1 > "/sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/hells_code_enabled"
or
echo 1 > /sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/hells_code_enabled ???

Whatever. With "" it has nicer formatting, and is most times better when you have spaces in folder names.

Really thanks! I really like knock code. This mod works great, but with three problems :
1. Lock screen is shown for a milisec, then unlocks. Not really a big problem.
2. After unlocking, status bar is sometimes pulled down.
3. Power button is useless now. Every time I use power button, it bypasses lockscreen. Every time.
I hope this mod advances with updates! Thanks!

1. I still have to research which hooks suit better.
2. Really? That's strange, and has nothing to do with the mod..
3. That's a bug, read OP
Btw, if you touch screen once, and then press power button, it doesn't unlock. Will fix later today IF I have the time.
I unfortunately ignored school a bit the last few days, and have to catch up :/

For me is working quite fine, only problem i face is that the mod is not respecting unlocking sequence configured on hellscode config, if you tap on anywere 4 times phone unlocks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will love this if the power button bug is fixed!
About the statusbar, I think it is related with my rom's feature(quick pulldown). Do you use stock rom?

Nice work. I was waiting for this for a long time. I'll try the mod as soon as power button bug will be fixed.
Is there any chance you fix the micro lag that makes lockscreen shows for a millisecond?
Thanks

[ROM][AOSP] JDM [3-27-2016][SuperSu][Busybox][Tethering]

INFO About Me:
I have developed ROMs in the past for devices since the good old Windows Mobile days. I don't generally like to have very long opening posts for anything that I share with the public, I just like things to be simple and straight to the point. I more than likely will not ever have screenshots and banners all over the place because I am very old school about posting a ROM. I generally like my ROMs to be clean and dialed back on features since most of what's out there I will never use, also I do not build ROMs for you I build ROMs for me then share with you and I also only build for a device that I currently own and use as my daily driver.
INFO About JDM:
JDM is built on the idea of being a very clean "stock replacement" ROM with limited features for your Nexus device. This project is based off of the Android Open Source Project.
This ROM is pre-rooted (SuperSu) and you will need to flash a gapps packages, I use OpenGapps, but you may flash whatever you want. I found out that Layers will work with this rom, however I don't use it so support for it is solely on you.

For the record SuperSu v2.52 is fine. DU and a few other developers still use it in their roms they release.
Nobody knows whether this build has force encryption? Op? I'm thinking it hasn't been touched and still forces encryption as its not mentioned in the op.
Sent from my Nexus 6P
Layers confirmed working
Ah yeah I'm gonna have to touch that op up some, yeah I didn't disable encryption. I don't use root apps so I didn't root and the ROM is de-odexed user builds.
No SuperSU is fine with me. Same with encryption.
Super smooth with stock AK kernel and encryption disabled. Runs great, with great battery life.
