imnuts said it should work, with a few modifications. There's also an app in the market called Odin maker- haven't tried it though.
Re-post #2: Please post questions in our new, shiny (well, ok, 6 months old) Q&A section. Those of us who have experience helping others with Fascinate Android issues (and, more importantly, our devs) regularly check the Q&A section to see if there are any questions out there we can help with. You'll most likely get better answers and get them more quickly in that section
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
The funny thing is that if you searched imnuts' title exactly in the Fascinate forum you would have found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150016
Hey Guys,
I've been away from the Fascinate for several months but I'm back. I am familiar with rooting, Odin etc.....
My question is, I want to root but not install a custom rom/kernel yet till I get myself refreshed. So what is the easiet way to this now??
Firmware version - 2.2.1
baseband version - EB01
kernel - 2.6.32.9
When I check for software update on my phone it says no ne update is available
Not a development topic. Should be under question and answer forums. This question was just answered in q and a recently. Jelani993 posted the question. There is a link to a tutorial by droidstyle within the first few posts. It is an excellent tutorial. Odin stock EH03 which can be found on these forums. It is Android 2.35. It is the latest update stockwise. Root that one.

This is not development...please have this moved to q&a section. Then go to the general section, find my guide and refer to section 5.
I can't wait for the fascinate to finally get root so that real development can start!
Thanks guys - sry for posting in wrong spot - heading to q&a

Go to the overcome ROM thread. There's a link there to a guide. Next time search the forum before you ask, and if you don't find anything by searching, post in the correct forum.

Where's the mod that likes your posts so much? Maybe that isn't you, slack04, that I'm thinking of. Sorry if I confused you with someone else.

If you have a nandroid backup of your stock rom, just restore it then flash stock recovery with odin. If you don't have a nandroid backup then your need an odin flashable stock rom.
I'm using eclipse Rom, Please help, I don't have a back up or such so looking for fastboot files or roms. Without errors

When will the bootloader unlock be made available for everyone? I'm ready

LOKI doesnt require bootloader unlock and you can still flash recoveries, roms and kernels. Wrong section as well, by the way.

Easiest way to achieve a customer recovery would be to root and then just install goo mananger and install TWRP
sigh.../facepalm
