Is it possible to connect to AT&T wifi hotspots at Starbucks etc. if we have flashed the GE rom put out today? I like how my phone auto-connects to these wifi networks without me needing to do anything and I want to maintain this in the GE rom if possible.
I've pulled the ATT_HotSpot.apk and .odex files from /system/app/
I'm thinking that after flashing the GE rom, I can push those files back to /system/app/
Anyone have thoughts on this?
Found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645535
So I'm wondering if in addition to pushing the .apk and .odex files back after flashing GE, the wpa_supplicant.conf file(s?) will need to be modified to include the attwifi settings.
I found 3 config files and they are here:
/system/etc/wifi/
/etc/wifi/
/data/misc/wifi/
The first two are identical and only contain info for "attwifi". The last one has "attwifi" plus all other saved network and pw info in it.
I guess I won't know till I try it but if anyone has advice it is appreciated
You'll only need the WISP Service apk, which appears as 'AT&T Hot Spots' in the apps list. That is what takes care of the auto-login to AT&T WiFi networks. Just flash the attached zip, there's not configuration or anything, it just looks for SSIDs like attwifi and does auto-login if it can. It works on any 4.1 or 4.2 rom.

OK great! That would be a lot easier.
Curious though, whats the difference between the WISP Service apk and ATT_hotspot.apk? Or maybe its the same thing?
Also where did you get this? I don't see it in /system/app/ (I'm still on stock right now, probably gonna flash GE tomorrow)

The ATT_hotspot apk is to use your phone as a hotspot (tethering).
I got the apk from an AT&T stock rom then modified it to work with 4.2.2 as well.
Ahhh that makes sense.
So I can just put the zip on my sdcard, then install via TWRP right?
Figured it out.
Works like a charm! Thanks!
I still don't understand how you got this though. What directory was this in?

Has anyone tested this on 4.4 KitKat? I'd love to flash it on my Nexus 5. I actually used it a lot on my AT&T S4.

I'm using Safestrap, Hyperdrive and this module. Wifi works know and it didn't before. I would like to report that me and at least one other are having problems with screen rotation. It works in camera but not in any other app. People with different builds seem to not have this problem.
Rotation is working only in the Samsung camera, tested other samsung apps as well. Attached some logs of toggling the rotation on/off and trying to rotate the screen if it helps.
Is there a fix for the screen rotation problem?
Do I just flash this like any other kernel?
Thanks.

Safestrap doesn't work on MJ7, so stay with an earlier build if you want to get it to work.
There are people building ROMs based on 4.3, so look around and hang in there. They'll become available.
So is there a fix for the broken rotation?

Updated: 12-2-14 Fixed Patch To Work With NK2 Builds
Here is a patch that will get International TW 4.4 Kit Kat roms to work on Verizon with MDK bootloader. Every thing is working as far as data and wifi voice and mms go. There may be other bugs. If the rom has alot of theming try using the minimum option in aroma installer
1. Download my patch
PATCH_NK2_S5_MODS_TEST.zip Lates Version For NK2 Builds With S5 Modding Will only work with roms that have the S5 mods
AROMA_PATCHER_V25.zip Version For NG2 Builds
AROMA_PATCHER_V22.zip For Roms NE5 Through NF1
AROMA_PATCHER_V20.zip For all Versions Older than NE5 Build!
2. Full wipe required
3. Download and install International rom but do not reboot. International Roms Found Here
4. Install AROMA_PATCH.zip
FAQ (Read Here Before Asking A Question)
1. This patch should work on most international version of 4.42 TW roms.
2. You can use an aroma installer to install rom. Just flash my patch before reboot. There is no need to flash loki patch after my patch since my patch has loki patch built in it.
3. If you didnt flash patch before you reboot and get unauthorized software found on device warning simply reboot back to recovery and flash my zip or if you didnt flash my zip after you installed rom and rebooted you will be fine you will not brick your phone, just power down and flash or go through setup then reboot and apply patch.
4.MMS Now Works!
5. Yes you can go back to 4.3 roms
6. Roms dont flash bootloaders they have to be flashed with odin.
7. If rom fails to flash in recovery especially philz touch recovery, uncheck the box about allowing old updater script verification.
8. I am not the creator of these roms so I have no control over what features they have or have not. Remember these are International roms for gsm phones so somethings may not work right.
9. Apps are located in two places now the system/app folder and the system/priv-app folder.
10 there is some lag in the contacts apk for now you will have to live with it. I will see if I can do something about that as time permits.
I hope this answers some questions. I dont mind PM's but try to keep your questions in the forum so everyone can input and help find solutions. There are lots of smart people out there with different approaches to problems.

Good afternoon,
I'm wondering if there is a Root update available for KitKat yet? I just purchased a Note 3 and updated it to 4.4.2 (without thinking about it) and noticed that because it's only been out for less than a month it may not have available root files yet? Is that true? I've seen that there are several threads marked if you had a rooted 4.3 and want to flash a rooted 4.4.2 onto your device. But, none for a device with factory 4.4.2 already on it? Maybe I'm not looking in the right place? Any help to find and support is appreciated.

There is no way yet. Kingo says they are working on it but I got no response when I asked them for a status update.
I'm all confused too, I'm trying to root because I want the tether option, my phones still on 4.3 though I was about to update before I read this... so then if we want Kit Kat what do we do after we root on 4.3?
There's root methods out there for Kitkat I personally used chain fire's method which will trip Knox. If you are trying to preserve your Samsung warranty and not trip Knox then no.

If you are currently on 4.3 you can get to Kit Kat rooted by following the direction posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658315. Make sure to thank the OP (optimummind) in that thread.
Also, if you are rooting only to get WiFi tether, there are a few people who claim WiFi Tether Router by Fabio Grasso ($1.95) is the best option available for KitKat. Read more here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50826678&highlight=tether#post50826678. The previous free mod no longer works on Kit Kat. Well that is my understanding anyway. I can vouch for this. This definitely has enabled me to use WiFi tether without issue so far. I also have to say there is a good amount of WiFi AP customization for the app when configuring sprint note 3 to act as a AP. It is fast and is working for 4.4.2.

Then flash the one-click or tar file for NAB, install recovery, root your device, flash the stockish DeOdex rom, them download the WiFi Tether hack mod (it's DeOdex) from Josh's K3 site, and you'll be set.
If you need guidance, just ask.

You can stay stock rooted if you like, or go grab the DeOdex rom from freeza's thread.
One-click first (PC executable file), then TWRP (PC Odin), then root (goes on your phone, flash from recovery).
Good luck!
