Did anyone notice the OS Version in this biotch?
Its 2.3.4
Edit: Going to check the APK versions soon. I am wondering if they updated the keyboard and some other glitchy things.

Well holy ****, I knew I recognized your screename. I used to use your Mogul ROMs back when I had a TItan/XV6800, and they were the most solid ROMs I ever had on that device
Cheers for the throwback!
Hope there's updates we can snag. Please keep us updated_

Yeah, I compared a few and most were newer. Not by a lot, just a hair. The hotspot feature was a tiny bit older. Im hoping it will be just as simple as replacing the current hotspot with the European hotspot. Ill try to post both current and euro versions of all apk's tomorrow for those who care

By updated hotspot do you mean "unlocked hotspot"? If so, how would we install that?

I dont know if its unlocked because I cant install it. I tried "ADB Install" and that failed because of security certificate and "ADB Push" pushed the file but it did not seem to do anything. It still failed with the host spot. I posted in the hot spot unlocking thread about this. I dont know if there is anything in there that can be used to help us. I really think that we will have to wait for S-OFF to modify the built in hotspot.
Ok, attached are .7Z file that show the versions of /system/apk for both Euro and US Shooter. Had to use .png format because the app I am using "LocalAPK" does not export at this time.

@[email protected] so the European hotspot apk is actually unlocked?? Damn, that's generous
EDIT: Also, great try. Were you temp-rooted during that process? Because I believe we have read/write on the system with the latest perma-temp root, the only downside is that any and all system changes eventually (and always by reboot) reverse themselves.

No, I said I dont know if its unlocked. I posted in the WIP Thread and they said that it would be also locked down. SO no go on that aspect. They do have modded APKs that will work. Just need S-OFF to install them.

Ahhh. Apologies, I must have missed that part.
Man, the waiting is just killing me . Can't wait to see what these phones can do.
Do you dev Android ROMs as well, or did the ROM cooking days end with WM?
Hi All,
I'm a little new here but I've done a lot of searching and haven't been able to find anything recent on this topic. From what I can see there has been no progress unlocking the bootloader to flash custom Roms on the i545vruame7 s4 in a few months. I just got my S4 yesterday and when I received it, it already had i545vruame7 installed. I am able to gain root access but not unlock the bootloader to flash any custom roms. Have I missed something? Is there any way to flash back to the old version?
Thanks,
Peter

Welcome to the S4! So long as you are not on mj7 firmware you can still install Safestrap which allows you to run touchwiz based ROMs. Just search for it in development. If I'm not mistaken, it works with the Google Play Edition ROM too, so you can have a little bit of AOSP goodness.
Just to be curious, where did you get your phone from?

Thanks for the info! I've been thinking about getting involved in the development side, I develop android apps but have never touched anything as far as Roms and bootloaders. I just want it working so I can install CM on my phone so I figured it might be worth a shot.
I installed Safestrap and then stupidly tried to flash a rom slot with CM 10.1 which didn't work. Is there a list available anywhere of touchwiz based ROMs?
I ordered mine from best buy, im really hoping it doesnt have the update

What you have, I believe is the best your going to get until somebody figures out how to crack the bootloader. Im hoping the phone I ordered is running the same software that you have on yours.

Makes sense, I used titanium to freeze the SDM app so I'm hoping that will stop it from auto updating, along with a whole bunch of other crapware.
OK. I am going to provide as much detail as I can for now. Please let me know what additional information will help you help me. Thanks
I have a S4 for Verizon. I have been trying to root it so I can load the Google edition image on it. However, none of the tutorials I have seen seem to work on my device. I bought it brand new direct from Samsung off contract (didn't want to loose my unlimited data) so I don't think I can get a warranty replacement through Verizon (haven't rooted it yet). The furthest I seem to get is that SuperSU gets installed but will not download the binaries. So I cannot continue with the rest if the steps with rooting and re-imaging. Also, most steps have you install a specific kernal version as the first step but not sure if that is happening because my screen don't look the same as the ones in the tutorials.
Phone: SCH-1545
OS ver: 4.3
Kernal: 3.4.0
Build: JSS15J.1545VRUEMJ7
HW ver: 1545.06
Thanks.

Just so you know, the only thing available for MJ7 build is root. Installing a custom recovery or custom ROMs is not possible at this time.

No. Once the phone is updated, there is no way to go back.
As I stated above, all we can do is root. With root we can debloat and use Xposed framework to make some changes.

It's Verizon, they lock down every phone they sell. You have to do research before you buy your phone if you want custom software on Verizon, or switch carriers.

I know Verzon sucks in that regard but the service is awesome. I get full 4G coverage just about everywhere and I've got unlimited data still. Plus, I didn't buy it from them, I payed full price from an online vendor so that I wouldn't have to change my contract.
Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for when someone finally cracks it.
I hate waiting....

Unfortunately the wife accepted hers this morning before I got up. She has lost root. Not sure where we go from there. Maybe we can Odin her back to MJ7.
The idea was to let me unroot hers and prep it before any OTA now I'm not sure if she will get 4.4 correctly. She says it still says 4.3

Alright, this thread is being closed...4.3 and unlock discussion has been posted ad nauseum....
I have a T-Mobile s9+ and for the life of me, I cannot get the OEM unlock button to show in Dev options. I've had my phone for over the 7 days, as I saw you need. I've even tried doing the "change the date manually and restart" trick and no luck.
Is there no option for the T-Mobile version of this phone and it's already OEM unlocked? Can I just go ahead and root my phone without issue? Or do I need to get that button before I can go ahead and root/install a new rom?
If you have the G965U, no you will not be able to unlock the boot loader.. My oppinon, is when all manufactures were done stealing ideas from dev's live here on XDA.. They decided they did not need them anymore and locked the phones down.

I mean the good thing about this method is that it doesn't unlock bootloader, so it doesn't trip knox. The bad thing about not unlocking bootloader is that you can't install custom kernels or recoveries.
