How does one change to ART? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Ive looked everywhere and I see ups and downs to the new runtime. I see a lot of people using it... but how do you install/test/check it out for yourself?
I have an xt912 CDMA that id love to switch over and see how it goes... But there's no information.
Can someone enlighten me?

First of all, you've got to have a KitKat rom. Than you go to Settings -> Developer Options -> Select runtime. And BTW - googling the answer would take far less time than posting your question here...

So very new to custom roms..

hi guys,
Please bear with me, i am very inexperienced to this. I have a Sprint TP & while I dont hate it, some things really annoy me. Im not sure if I need a custom rom or just a few tweaks & clean up the exisiting software, hopefully you can help.
THINGS I HATE:
Screen Lag from portrait to landscape. Sometimes I have to open & shut the phone 5 x's & take out the stylus before it switches. & general TF3D lag.
Constant notifications of messages being sent!
Not having month calender view be default.
A better way to lock keys rather than having to punch in #'s (the pre has a nice lock feature)
Battery life.
Flash Support?
A straigt up contacts button without having to load my fav, then hit a button, then load.
If some1 could point me in the right direction that would be cool. Ive read a bit & a custom rom seems a little scary, so Im nervous to do anything that complex.
THANKS!
Aight I'll bite. The screen lag your S.O.L. without changing to a custom ROM. You can try some of the reg hacks but I never found anyone them to be worth it on the stock rom.
You can change the message sent notifications in the reg or you can find a cab some where. (Searching helps) but most custom roms already have this.
Calender view is an easy one just open the calender and hit menu>tools>options and change start in to month view.
Battery, again custom rom.
Flash support. its there, again searching helps.
I noticed a huge performance and battery life increase when I quit using TF3d and 6.5 default for the today screen on any rom. You can find all those settings when you hit start>settings>today
hope that gets you started. has far which custom rom to start out with. MightyMike, Juicy, and, SSS are good starts.
Overall, do your homework, get your **** straight and go to town. It can be fun trying new software and roms on your phone and all the info is here and on ppcgeeks.
Thanks for the help. Ive read a few things here & there, but it does get confusing & i just dont want to brick my phone, that is why i am tentative about custom roms... I found a new browser for flash support (skyfire) but it looks like crap. Maybe over the weekend i can read up on the custom roms you suggested. Thanks again.
Disable SMS Sent Notification
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings] Set SMSNoSentMsg to 1
I'm new too. There's lots of good stuff up in the Raphael Wiki to get started with.
so, ive seen this before
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settin gs] Set SMSNoSentMsg to 1
Where is that exactly?
& i was just over @ pcgeeks, is seems you can put the stock rom onto your phone if needed. Is this true? Would you be able to bring it in for service if you do that? or would they be able to find out you flashed it?
You can flash the stock rom back onto the phone. Just remember to relock it as the last step.

if you see anything with HKEY or HKLM it is referring to a registry edit. To do any of registry edits you need a registry editor such as (but not limited to) PHM or Resco explorer. These are free .cab files that can be downloaded automaticly to your phone.
What they are saying at PPC is that if you flash any roms to your phones and something happens to it or you need to take it in for repair you HAVE to change it back (or flash it back) to its original operating system...you know the laggy nonresponsiveness lol. Otherwise you run the risk of never being able to buy a phone from that company again and I dont know what else but I keep imagining public castration...which is extremly scary to me <_>
As far as battery life etc, there are some tweaks for the battery life and certain ROMS actually save battery life. There are also some programs that save battery life as well.
Theres a locking function called JMZ lockscreen that is included in some roms...personally I dont use it but then again its user preference.
I would recommend if you are wanting to change your phone a little. Look into how to unlock your phone so you can start flashing roms. The initial process takes a little bit of time, but its like riding a bike everything takes time. feel free to email me if you want and have any questions and Ill do my best to help you out.
*edit* One last thing that is CRUCIALLY important. When you go to flash a rom if you are a CDMA (verizon, etc) carrier do NOT try to install a GSM (att, etc) rom on your phone or you will kill it.
I will definatley be reading up on this stuff this weekend. I cant stand typing messages sideways anymore. Thanks for your help. Im sure Ill be posting a few more questions soon!

Running CM7? If so, you should do this.... Please read

You guys should really be opting in for the anonymous stats.
There is no harm/concern for you.
It is letting our developers (those aiding us AND CyanogenMod folk) know how many of us are wanting CyanogenMod.
It's also just amazing to see the # of devices and installs for CyanogenMod.
It is only logical that the more users they see, the more likely good things can happen for us.
I realize there are things not in our control (Samsung/Source), but this is one thing you can. Let them know demand is there.
Chris wrote a very good piece on this awhile back, I encourage everyone to read it (even if you are not currently running CM).
>>> READ THE ARTICLE <<<
You can opt-in by going to:
Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> System -> Anonymous statistics and checking the “Enable Reporting” checkbox.
Check out some of the stats while you are at it >>> CyanogenMod STATS
(Right now the Vibrant sits at around 1,031 devices... hope to see that grow).
bump, it's important dangit.
I have mine enabled. I agree that we should all enable this to help the developers. This is also a way of showing our support for them.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I agree .........if they do not see the Vibrant users (enough qty.) then, the R/D will be prioritized to the bottom of the list.
CM7 for the Vibrant has come a LONG way it is very close to being stable and a real Version-1.0

[Q] HandsFreeActivation; Failing on Devil Toast

I searched the Q&A thread and couldn't find a concise answer to this.
Handsfree activation fails on the phone, and I'm not able to get any 3G/Phone signal. When I go into the 'About' section of the device, I can clearly see that in place of my phone number, there are 4 digits.
I remember from my EVO 4G days having to download an app while in Sense to retrieve a code, that I would would have to input in the AOSP ROM.
Can someone please help me get phone/data up and running on this bad boy? I cannot stand Sense, and need to get away from it ASAP.
Thanks!

I don't have the answer, but since no one helped you, I will suggest you post your question in the Devil Toast thread as Agrabren seems like a dev who helps his users. Since you don't have the minimum 10 posts needed, I suggest you Thank me here and then post some comments on the Themes section about how great the themes are to get to the minimum.
You could also run a sense ROM and then use a desensify script or run a ROM like SOS where the sense has been removed.

To fix this issue you need to navigate to settings Update and Update Profile. and then update the PRL that will Set you back up...
Trust me i went through the same thing

What happened to my Developer Options Menu?

Hey guys.
I'm a newb here, actually, completely new to to the Android scene after having an iPhone since the 3G (0 complaints here, except for the iOS "feeling stale), through the 5.
I bought an HTC One M7 in May and I have to say, for my first Android phone, I love it. But of course, since I was an avid jailbreaker of the iPhone, I of course was curious about rooting.
And although I'm new to Android, I've gotten around to learning how to root and unroot and so on.
I am currently on the latest Android Revolution HD custom ROM. But ever since I upgraded to HD 10.3, my Developer Options Menu has completely disappeared. And I have no idea why.
I ran a search on the topic, but did not find anything.
Can anyone assist me?
Thanks!

Actually I don't have an HTC One, so I didn't know the exact path.
I found this from a Google search.

[Q] "Download too large for operator network"

Folks,
Is there any way of stopping the KFHDX nannying me?
I have an unlimited data plan, and want to be able to download anything I want WHEN I want.
However when I try to download large files (especially audio books), the KFHDX comes up with the error in the title.
I find this very annoying, and was wondering if there is a way of overriding this settings somewhere?
I've been through all the menu's but I can't find it!
*BUMP*
Come on - nobody have any idea? I'm losing faith in the power of XDA, here!
Right. After a lot of Google-ing, I found this:
https://android.googlesource.com/pl...afdec0e2229368d3cc20d0/res/values/strings.xml
Can someone who understands this confirm that it is the CARRIER (EE in my case) that specifies the download limit, and not the device?
A string further down mentions the option of having a button present that overrides the restriction, and starts the download anyway. That button is obviously not present on the KFHDX, so I guess Amazon decided that we really don't want to use 4G to download stuff... :-S
What files would need to be tweaked to enable this?
200+ views, no answers? Hm.
I hear crickets & is that a tumbleweed I see?
Sent from my KFTHWA using Tapatalk
Hey there, it's really annoying and frustrating if so many people see your thread and don't answer! I know, cause I had some threads myself where i didn't get any response. So I am just stepping by to say hello and tell you that I have no idea how to help you
From what I understand though,it's an operator thing. What do the officials (your operator and Amazon) say about this?
