did you have unlock bootloader = yes in service menu?
if the phone can boot properly (to the home screen) with experimental kernel the bootloader is unlocked... to see if it is installed go in settings>phone info and see if under kernel version there is "experimental-12"
another check go in conversation app and select share location>current position... if this Fc with the message "service not available" the bootloader it's unlocked
if the phone can't boot with experimental kernel the bootloader is locked
for pc companion i don't know
with experimental kernel you can boot only a JB rom

1) service menue showing "Bootloader unlocked :Yes"
2) no, after i flash the experimental kernel,i didn`t install the rom(i forget to add the rom zip inside the memory),so i just switch off and power on but didn`t boot(sony logo come and then a blank screen) so i flash the gingerbread ftf(6.1.1.b.1.184) via flash tool, now my phone run GB,when i going to flash the GB ftf i saw that pc companion recognize my phone that`s why i am unsure that my bootloader locked or unlocked,i didn`t get what you said in the second method("another check go in conversation app and select share location>current position... if this Fc with the message "service not available" the bootloader it's unlocked")

Means your bootloader is unlocked.
PC Companion works fine with unlocked bootloader all except updating the formware. It may even begi dowloding the files but won't flash it.

Im not familiar with that kernel, see it's feature list.
To install any custom ROM all you need is just CWM recovery

[Q] Help with my Xperia Mini Pro bootloader :)

So,I've rooted and unlock its bootloader for a long time.I also install my phone ClockWorkMod Recovery and etc. other root stuff (My android is 2.3.4 .58 Firmware)
So,today I thought I will finally relock my bootloader as my phone will receive a new ICS official from Sony Ericsson anytime from now until end of June,so I download a relock bootloader ftf file (I've searched it in the internet, and download the right file). After I flashed it (I've enabled USB debugging before shut down my phone and I also sure my phone is in flash mode during flash),my phone WON'T boot up...I don't know what happen,so I'm currently fixing it by using WotanServer, and it downloading in progress now (My x10 Mini Pro bricked 5 times, and I fix it 5 times by myself without whining )
So,I wanna ask you guys :
Why my phone won't boot up?Although the bootloader is locked by Flashtool, but it won't boot up I've stock FIRMWARE and stock KERNEL in my phone...never modified it,only root, unlock its bootloader and flash CWM in it...
Thanks for reading I hope you can answer my question
Regards,
UchihaDareNial
Uhm, since WotanServer installs also stock kernel back...doesn't it require unlocked bootloader?
I am not sure, but that would make sense with all other kernel installations also.
Unlock bootloader, install firmware and kernel with WotanServer again, boot and relock bootloader.

Thanks for the information man,by the way,I just restore my phone using WotanServer and WotanServer will always be my trust to restore my phone if it got a brick or something like that
I restore my phone with Firmware .58 and I rooted it using ZergRush, and update it using OTA [My phone automatically bootloader locked] (I install US Generic xD even I live in Malaysia,so I got Sk17a instead of Sk17i) and now I got .62 firmware with root access in my phone

Yep,you are right...
Because,WotanServer and PC Companion and SEUS use OTHER method which I (even other ROM developer maybe?) don't know how the file work with the flashing without needed bootloader unlocked right?

PC Companion doesn't work with unlocked bootloader at all.
You might be correct, as I have never tried update/repair via PC Companion.

I know, the point is that it's not necessary for flashing stock kernel bootloader to be unlocked.I think it's pretty obvious, if it didn't update with locked bootloader then sony would have to force users to unlock bootloader or give unlocked phones or never update kernel.

[q]Locked Bootloader vs Unlocked Bootloader

How can I find out if I have a locked bootloadeR?
What's the difference bewtween Locked bootloader ?! and unlocked one ??
and the restrictions .!?
In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu. the numbers spell SERVICE on a phonepad
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
locked means you cant get to root to flash a different ROM on it, unlocked is obviously the reverse, can get to root to flash a ROM on it, like CM9 etc
if no, like me, not sure if there is a workaround, I hope so as I really need to unlock my bootloader to flash CM9 on it

If it says yes, it means you can unlock your bootloader. It isn't unlocked when you buy it in a store
If you want to unlock it go to the dev section of Xperia S forums

[Q] Unbricked Xperia Ray - please insert SIM card and restart your phone

Hi guys !
I think i have a problem with my xperia ray I`ve tried to flash a custom rom, but during that process there was an error and bricked my phone. I managed to bring it back to life, flashed stock 4.0.4 rom, but now i get "please insert SIM card and restart your phone"
The funny thing is that before i bricked it the bootloader unlock allowed was YES, and now it switched to NO.
Can someone help me ? Is there anything i can do ?

You must have flashed a carriers specific firmware for ray. Get this generic one and try - http://www.mediafire.com/?pp48w8v9z1adg59
And could you please tell us what the error was and how exactly you "bricked" it? Also, try going into fastboot mode and see if you can still flash a custom kernel.
Thank you for your answer ! bricking it was very easy ... I tried to flash CM 10, wipe - factory reset / cache, and during the new rom install it was an “Status 7″ Error in ClockworkMod Recovery. After this I used s1tool to bring it back to life and flashed a new rom, which I though was the right one (ST18i_4.1.B.0.587_CE_1252-3693). I`ll try to flash the rom you pointed and see what happens.
Nope, that rom didn`t helped, still the same problem.
The phone was bough form vodafone spain, had a vodafone custom rom, no SIM LOCK and bootloader unlock allowed : YES, but after i did that mess, and install a new rom i get bootloader unlock allowed: NO and "please insert SIM card and restart your phone", no mater if there is a SIM CARD inserted or not ...

Why did you use s1tool to "bring back to life"? Maybe you (re)locked your bootloader? What exactly did you with s1tool to bring your phone back to life?
Btw: The status7 error caused by updater-sricpt in cm10 rom zip.
If you searched this Q thread (or cm10 thread) there is a solution for that. (copy the updater-script from CM rom zip edit with notepat++ and delete first lines till mount. Copy back, overwrite old updater-script and the cm10 flash don't shows "status7 error")

now your phone is on locked bootloader and sim locked too?
It says: bootloader unlock allowed: no?
Before you unlocked it was simfree? You wrote, that the phone is voda/Spain you have voda simcard?
Have you tried other ftf? (not for Centar Europe - CE)
Edit:
- Have you cheched your baseband? see post
Yes the phone was both locked on bootloader (bootloader unlocked alowed: NO ) and SIM LOCK ( not sure about this, since i don`t have the Voda/Spain sim anymore, but all the other ones where useless)
Anyway, i took the easy way and used WotanServer to solve my problem. Now the bootloared changed back to "bootloader unlocked alowed: YES" and i can use any SIM card.
I think my mistake was using s1tool after the Status 7 Error in ClockworkMod Recovery. I guess s1tool changed my bootloader status... if i had used just flashtool and do just a stock rom flash... But we learn as long as we live :silly:
Thank you all for you`re answers !

if say Bootloader unlock allowed: yes
im lucky or not
You can use flashtool (not emma) to bootloader unlock
Flashtool.net is the place to get flashtool from, you may need drivers Fastboot Flashmode Z2 dev drivers
I think you dont need in newerversions
Im not sure
@DinarQ8 yeah mate that means you can unlock the bootloader
@Envious_Data Do you still need to get unlock key though sony's developer site to unlock with FlashTool? Also what is the best & easiest way to root the phone? I'm used to galaxy devices so sony unlock & root is new to me.

Yes, flashtool does the normal terminal stuff for you
You still have to get IEME and unlock code
It will give instructions
Cheers, does Flashtool also easily root it or do you need a custom kernel for root to work?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I do things right & don't end up with a sexy brick :fingers-crossed:

You can use Flashtool to root, but not via its root function. Put the phone in fastboot mode and flash Doomlord's CWM+kernel package (I installed v.02 since my phone is on firmware .55) in Flashtool (using the fastboot option that pops up when you click the lightning button). Then reboot into CWM recovery and flash SuperSU. Then reboot into the system and install busybox into /xbin. You should be good then.
So if it says bootloader unlock is not allowed does that mean there is no possible way to unlock it and root the device?

UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER:
This may wipe your phone, so backup your stuff
• Go to Sony's dev site
• Request the unlock key and check your mail straight away. Email is quick these days.
• Open Flashtool on your computer (yes, the one you installed earlier)
• Click the "BLU" icon
• Follow the steps and enter your unlock key
