I restored back to stock 4.3 and then applied the 4.4.2 update via OTA. I now find that I can't get rid of the lock screen. I set lock screen security to none, but I still have to slide to unlock after waking up. I didn't have to do this before. Is this something new in 4.4.2 or have I forgotten how to wake to the home screen directly?

My KitKat Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 can skip the lockscreen when waking, so I don't think it's specific to KitKat.
Were you running the stock 4.3 w/ Sense before with no lock screen? That's what I'm running and don't see any option to disable the lock screen completely. I think this lock screen is integrated into Sense and independent of JB or KK. Perhaps the ability to disable the lock screen is only available on pure Android, non-Sense ROMs or a custom Sense-based one.
Yeah, stock rooted 4.3. If you select None for security, and then click power off and back on, you still get a lock screen that requires slide up to get to the home screen?

I figured it out. Go into Settings>Personalize. Under "Lock screen style", scroll through the options to "No lock screen". Not sure if it's any different on 4.4.2.

Yep, so HTC must have removed this option in 4.2.2. Darn, I preferred going strilaightvto the home screen.

Download the "No Lock" app from the play store. It's an easy fix.

That makes one more app running all the time eating your precious battery... Remember that unlike other phone the ONE's battery cannot be replaced. The more you charge it the sooner it will wear out. Lithium Ion batteries do have a limited number of times they can be recharged and when this one dies the phone dies with it.

Are there any ways to install another lockscreen but not by using apps (making them native, I don't like the way it works in widgetlocker app). I have root, CWM and so on
To be honest I want puzzle lockscreen like it was in Vibrant.

But unfortunately this is still an app superimposed to the original home screen or lock screen (which sometimes appears...)
Also the notification bar remains visible!
Original lock screen can't be actually replaced, but only hidden.

That's why I dont like those apps.
And why are there tons of lock screen in Vibrant Roms/i9000/Captivate and difficulties with i9100? What is the principal difference?

Besides home button unlocks the screen. Even with enabled and disabled notification bar.

+1 on that!! I hate the lockscreen so much, I'm using AntiLock to disable it. Apps like WidgetLocker or RippleLock are no proper alternatives because they either unlock with the home key, or have 5 seconds limitation, show the Samsung lockscreen underneath and such.
Just like you, I wonder what's taking devs so long to come up with alternatives. Why is it more challenging on this phone than others?
Guys,
I'm using WidgetLocker and enabled the Root Helper option, and also disabled the default Lock Screen. (In Advanced menu) and also checked Disallow WL suspend.
With these setting the defualt screenlock is only displayed for 1-2 sec when I restart the phone. but that's all.
Previously I also encountered the problem that I had to unlock the WL and then the stock one but now only WL is running.
I don't like lock screen in widgetlocker and in gingerbread itself. I like puzzle one or the one from ripple lock, but it doesnt work properly
don't flame me....maybe a stupid Q.....but still a very annoying use problem, that I can't figure out:
meny times In a middle of texting/browsing or using an app....I'm disturb by something else......and the phone goes to standby>>>>....OK?
The problem is : that when I wake it up....I have to do all the way to the specific last app/sms
is there a way to customise that wake up ? so it will take you directly to your last action?
We need more information, are u using a third part lock screen, I use widget locker and if the device sleeps with an app open, when I unlock, the app is still running.

yes I use widget locker & and yes the app is still running >>> that is not the point :
My problem is that I have to brows few screens to get there
for example if I read an article?....and the screen turns off?
I have to open my browser again and find the icon first >>>>> instead of getting right back to the original article >>> when I turn the screen on
think that you are on windows and the screen goes to sleep ?
you are moving the mouth......and ? landing to the same place
simple no ?
I can't figure it out how to apply that on my phone
Take widget locker off, personally I don't see the benefit of such things.
You touch the home button and have the options on the lock screen to call etc. But with the likes of no lock, when you touch the home button, it will open at your last app, or your home screen where you can text call from, same thing! Yes?
Anyway I posted this today, quicker and will have the result you want...

U may have changed a setting somewhere, because whatever screen was active on my phone when the screen turned off would also be active when i unlock the device. And when I say active, I mean if I was on a webpage and the screen turns off, when I unlock, the webpage is the first thing I see

The benefit of widget locker is that it provides me with the type of lockscreen that I want on my device, and the benefit of Android is that I actually have that choice, just as you have the choice to not use it as you don't see the benefit...

Hmmm, it has to be a simple setting somewhere, u can try uninstalling WL and downloading again and start from scratch.......
I recently rooted my TB and installed the latest CM7 ROM. The only thing that bugs me about the ROM is that when I unlock it after being idle for a few minutes, it always returns to the last app or email or whatever was open before it locked. I would like it to always return to the Home Screen, or Desktop each time it is unlocked. So far, I have not been able to find any setting to make this happen. I was hoping someone might be able to give me a hand with it.
Thanks,
Mark
you could always just download "No Lock" from the market & just use the power on/off button to turn the screen on/off. then you wouldn't have to bother with the lock screen at all. i use that no matter if i'm on sense or aosp. always hated the lockscreen b.s.
Go into cm settings, lockscreen, style options, custom starter app. Set that to be the launcher of your default. Adw is the current defaulted launcher unless you have installed another 3rd party.

You can disable the lockscreen in the cm tablet tweaks settings. No need for 3rd party app.
Thanks for the replies guys. I was hoping to keep the unlock screen appearance the same, without adding more options. I like things to look clean and minimal. However, if it's not possible, then I'll just have to deal with it the way it is.
Thanks,
Mark
Did you ever find a solution?
I too am used to returning to the home screen when I turn my phone on, not the last app I used. Seems like it would be a simple setting...

Hey guys,
first off all, i'm runnning Samsung 4.2.2 leak, BUT i've had this problem on 4.1.2 too and even on ICS.
my problem is, everytime i exit a app like Internet, it needs to load my whole home screen again! i've tried EVERYTHING.
Like GOTaskmanager and lock TW, didn't work.....
pressing the back key is no option for me in apps like Internet!
i'm rooted so, but even before that, i had the same issue.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!:crying:

YES! but its not that it takes time to GET me to the Home Screen, but the Home Screen itself takes time to load! (really long)

well that is a common problem in the leaked ones. i have that too when ever i multi task. rooting can help you.
Its because TW is kicked out if memory being a background app whilst another app is in use, if you go back to 4.1 you can use either JKay's framework or xposed app settings lock touchwiz home in memory (xposed may work on the leak I'm not 100% sure) however keep in mind this will affect multitasking a bit.

How to lock applications with JKay?
Edit: Got it its writen down in faq
Has anyone gotten the lock screen to turn off?
I found a thread here where someone made a file to do it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642574) but it wasn't for the Droid DNA.
My goal: I want to just turn on my screen and have the homescreen right there ready to go....No Lock (just like I could do with older versions of Android.).
Thanks,
Joe

Nope...for some reason that doesn't work. Before the update to KK, it was an option on Sense 5, but now on Sense 5.5 it gives the option for None under Screen Lock, but it still requires to swipe up to Unlock!

App in the play store called no lock will do the trick. HTC removed that feature for some reason. They probably want you to have some type of security on your phone.
Please press the thanks button if I have helped you in anyway.
