video shooting camera stabilization grip - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

The camera on the note 3 has wonderful quality but anyone who's ever tried to shoot professional looking video on it can attest to the fact that it has pretty horrible stabilization issues.
Has anyone come across a case that provides additional grip/support/stabilization, preferably also giving the versatility to be used on a tripod/monopod and in a perfect world, allowing for a cold shoe for which to mount an external shotgun mic?
I'd really love to see something like the owle case http://www.macworld.com/article/1157656/owle_iphone.html but anything you guys have seen to make this thing a bit more stable would help.
do you guys think that something like this might fit? (it looks a little small) - http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/slingshot/

The Slingshot looks like it will work. It adjusts itself to whatever phone is in it, and they claim it will work with any smartphone. I don't see why it wouldn't work for the Note3.

the only downside i see really is where to mount the microphone

What I would do is get a TPU case and mod it into a Wii steering wheel:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Raci...ntendo-Wii-Controller-Black-06/741640192.html
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-...r-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-3-N9000/1492093700.html
mod it with a dremel and epoxy or some other DIY cement.
This should work, I just got a Wiimote and it is the same length as my Note 3.

Mountguys.com Cupholder Mount First Impression.

I know there is some interest in these and I myself was waiting for someone to do a write up but I'm impatient and just got mine so I thought I'd throw some info out and hopefully help someone else out since I've already gotten so much out of this forum. The first thing you'll notice is that the plastic feels really cheap. Honestly almost repacked it to send it back because of how light and cheap it felt. That said and in particular because of the lack of alternatives, I gave it a shot. And on the whole I’m glad I did.
Putting it together and installing is pretty easy. I'm a nug and I did it without reading the instructions. Putting the gtab in and taking it out of the mount is also pretty easy. There are two sets of supports; the bottom stays stationary and the top is adjustable and easily fits the gtab in landscape and now that I think about it possibly in portrait too I will also see if my elocity a7 fits in it in landscape but I know it will in portrait (I’ll post a separate review for it in the elocity section if it works). In my prius, the position is as good as I could have hoped for making for easy inputs at stops but it’s not too useable while driving. While driving there is a certain amount of shaking but not too bad I could easily read off it with quick looks but it could be disorienting for some.
Also the cupholder mechanism takes some massaging to get it set well in the prius’ cupholder but it is doable. In my element it’s a whole other story (expectedly). The cupholder mechanism fit perfectly into my e’s cupholder but the cup holder is so low that this mount is worthless in it or any other car that has cupholders below seat level.
At this point I have no idea how durable this mount will be. I don’t know much about different types of plastics (I barely know the difference ABS and PET) but the material that this mount is made of does not inspire confidence. That said the plastic does not seem too brittle and therefore more likely to hold up. Time will tell and I will update as appropriate. I hope this information helps someone out there who was looking for a similar mount.

I bought the same one. Seems a little flimsy with the weight of the gtab. Moves a lot more than I would like while driving.

I have a Prius also. Do you mind taking a few pics so we can see what that setup looks like? thanks!
The next few days are pretty busy but I'll try to get some quick pics up. what year prius do you have? mine's an 09 so I can only speak to the positioning for 04-09s I haven't seen the interior of the gen3s.

It does move around a bit but once I set it super tight, I found it manageable but then I may be more tolerant the others.

The viewing angles have never been that big an issue for me. I personally don't understand what all the fuss is about. in this case in particular that issue is moot since the mount's angle is adjustable.
Thanks for the review and I look forward to the pics.

I have an '05 and my wife an '06. I should be getting my gTablet tomorrow, but I won't be surprised when my wife finally sees it and asks for one of her own
Anyone find a better car mount for the Gtab than the one talked about in this thread? Also what's the deal with all these Gtab owners also driving around a Prius? LOL.

well macro on the note 3 sadly just plain SUCKS hard core. SO ordered. will post pics vid review once I get it I LOVE shooting macro
Keep us updated!

In general, problems with macros are: it's hard to get enough light, very shallow focus, hard to hand held without shake and with x15 magnification, probably a lot of distortion, so I would be surprised if it worked well, but sure, let us know how it comes out.
Looks like a lens pickup from a cd drive. These were used in projects for the iphones for the same purposes to.
Holding still enough locating the spot you want, adjusting height is frustrating unless you have a stand for it.
The it's unlike to be matched to the notes cam, so either you use only part of the sensor or the lense ...... just the usual problems with optics.
and how often can you safely de-/attach it, how do you center it.
I bought for fun a 40x microscope addon for ~3€ with whiteh/UV LED, and thats why I wrote the above.
Use of similar lenses of defect CD-drives have been described for the iphones.

That's exactly what it is, an acrylic asphere used for cd/dvd players. The collimator from a dollar store laser pointer should work as well.

Lenses for Nexus 6

Anyone using any lenses, like wide angle, fisheye, macro, etc. on their Nexus 6? If so, can you share any information and pics/videos of your set up? I was thinking about investing, but not sure if I should go with the clip or if I should go with a magnet one (also not sure if there is a magnet built in around the camera ala the Nexus 5).
I am a total noob when it comes to this stuff so any help would be awesome. Also, apologies if there is another thread on this topic, but I did not have any luck finding one.

Not sure if you're aware of this, but there was no magnet built around the Nexus 5's camera. Yes, people were able to mount the magnetic camera lenses to the N5's camera directly, but the only thing it would have been attaching itself to would have been the mechanisms for image stabilization, basically making that useless with the lens on, and also the small possibility of causing some sort of damage to the system in some way down the line.

I will second this. Do not put something magnetic near your camera. You will break your ois.

They fit ok. You can't have a case on the phone, though. They also have to be used from the top, instead of from the side.
Does it cover up the flash ring?

Pretty much. It has to, to not interfere with the actual camera.
Ah well... I don't know the last time I used a phone flash anyway. ?
I got some for my old iphone 5s and it fits the Nexus 6 fine, fits in the black ring on the camera so flash is fine. Only few £$ on ebay.

This model weighs on the nose and bothers, but the experience is truly exceptional ... I have yet to test well with the movie, but the yield of youtube is exceptional .. for what it costs .. I have to try some more applications, but I tried roller coaster, and you say, wow ... nice app that make you see the video by way of film ... where you can turn your head always having the screen in place ..
sorry for my bad english...

archos VR headset
I bought the Archos VR headset a few weeks ago for my LG G3 (d855) and I must admit I'm really impressed by the build quality. The cracking sound when opening the headset is kinda Scarry at first but you seem to get used to it. The phone fits inside very nice although I once almost dropped my phone when it slides out while using. Seems I didn't closed enough or so.
For apps, sometimes you find great content. Sometimes not. Viewing video is nice and the turning with the gyroscope works very well. The only downside of this headset is the lack of a magnetic button like other cardboard headsets. You're able to input while gaming with a game controller or a Bluetooth mouse.
For €15 this was a great buy and I'm very happy with it although the lack of really intensive content makes it more a party trick than a daily toy.
Does anybody know of a controller that works with G3. Its kinda difficult to navigate phone if it in headset. Im buying my G3 tomorrow.

For the moment I use a bluetooth mouse but that isn't really perfect when in the split view mode. I think it mostly depends on the dev to build in controller support..
Colorcross is a decent headset vor the G3, large adjustable lenses, even the distance between your eyes. It fits just about any phone. Leaves top and/or bottom connections (usb, aux) free might you wanna connect something to it.
I've brought simple cardboard from ebay, and I must say that this thing is very, very impressive. works great with the G3

Have seen a youtube review for it and found on an online shop. It sounds like a decent device but I think it is just for watching movies as it lacks magnet button on side like some others do, which adds interaction that used in some vr apps. I therefore hv just ordered one on dx.com, a brand called Neje. Will share my opinions when it arrives.

Cardboard style VR

I recently bought this pair.
It doesn't focus well with the Note 3.
Has anyone else had any experiences with these, or others?
I wear glasses and have to wear my reading glasses while using this. I would like to not have to.
I'm looking for recommendations for a set that works well for someone who needs reading glasses and the Note 3.
Thanks for any input!
I bought a plastic one too similar to yours, and that don't focus well too.

All of those 3D movie viewers suck for VR and the descriptions deliberately mislead you into thinking that they're a substitute or even better than google cardboard.
I got burned too =/
I bought these but haven't tried them yet as I haven't looked around yet for stuff to download and test, if anyone have ideas where to look for stuff I would appreciate it, they're probably ****e though

You can run any Google Cardboard app with those, that's the exact same model I accidentally bought (with a different brand name).
People were saying that they're actually not so bad for VR, depending upon your screen size. With the Note III its might actually be decent. But they also all say to start with Cardboard.
This app can allow you to play PC games in VR on your note: http://trinusvr.com/
I use these ones. Crystal sharp: http://www.imcardboard.com/dscvr.html http://www.imcardboard.com/cardboard-v2-0/cardboard-vr-v2-black.html
Only problem for me... CM13 and Proton Pulse makes things baaad. The images for both eyes are displaying images with way to far away angle of view from each other and thus it makes me see two images... But this is a CM13 problem. Rest works fine. (For a pentile matrix OLED though ^^)
Try this Lefant VR.
so far so good for me.
