[Q] Flashed AOSP Official Google Edition after using Hyperdrive, No root - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hey guys,
I can't post this on the thread for the android development because I typically lurk and don't have enough posts, but I'm having trouble with the rom below.
KOT49H【4.4.2】AOSP Official Google Edition 【Verizon!】02-21-2014
I've used the Hyperdrive Rom on my VZW S4 and have not had problems with root. But after a full wipe and install of this Rom, I don't have root capabilities anymore. Titanium backup doesn't recognize root and neither do root checker apps.
Is anyone else having issues? The rom is supposed to come rooted according to the developer. How can I get root again?
Thanks.

What recovery are you using?

I'm using Clockwork Recovery. Just looked it up, V6.0.3.6. There is an update to 6.0.4.7, but I haven't installed yet.
I haven't had to touch it because the Hyperdrive Rom has been working fine.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Hi Guys!
Since the jflte family of devices is almost exactly the same I thought I would post my I9505 (jflte) Rom here for you as well!
It has been tested by jfltetmo and jfltecan users and is confirmed working!
To install it, just download the I9505 rom and then flash the appropriate device specific package I created.
Download the rom from this thread
Download the appropriate device specific package
Install CWM or TWRP recovery.
Boot into recovery, install ROM, then install the device specific package then install gapps.
Wipe Data/Factory Reset if coming from another Rom.
Reboot and enjoy!
Your device name might show up as I9505. If you are bothered by it you can edit the file /system/build.prop in the rom .zip package before you flash it.
This does not affect the way the rom functions in any way.
Please let me know if you have successfully installed and running this rom on any of the US variants of the S4. I don't own the device!

If you have TWRP or one of the other recoveries installed you can flash it in the recovery.

I can't wait until the data issue's foxed, I got a glimpse of this rom...looks insane! Excited

He means to flash it before you ever even try to boot into system.
Ah ok. U mean flash a kernel right after im done installing the rom in twrp?

Yes that usually pops on a loki issue if im not mistaken. So your steps would be to flash the rom, flash your preferred kernel(i personally like the chronic kernel) then flash your gapps package.

Is this thread still alive or what. I grabbed the rootbox stable and nightly version from goo. And I got to say is pretty solid feeling. I can't find a support thread for these releases unfortunately data doesn't work on either build. All the other junk ass aosp builds have data. I would like to achive data or at least find a support thread.
Any ideas suggestions or input is appreciated Thanks

Correct but the ota also included things like new firmware, radio, etc.... I think Beans is in the process of packaging these for us as well.

Does it matter if i flash this before going to another ROM, or does the ROM just wipe everything?

New to S4. Now what?

So I used to have a fully unlocked Dinc2 and I was able to pick ip this S4. Wow what a major difference. I stopped the auto update while in the store and obtained root. Now what do I need to do to keep root and not have the auto update ever happening again. Also I just put on cwm recovery nothing else. What needs to b done now? Am I able to flash any ROM/kernel here or are there restrictions? Thamks yall for the help. Looking forward to the great development that is gonna happen.

get titanium backup and freeze/backup+uninstall SDM that will keep updates from happening. (only for stock rom, once you install a rom it won't be a problem all roms have SDM disabled by default)
you can now flash any touchwiz rom however unless your cwm is loki'd you can't flash aosp roms (such as cyanogen mod, MIUI, aokp...)
so basically if you are not lokied you can flash only roms on the android development board if you ARE lokied you can flash those AND the ones in the ORIGINAL android development board.

Quick question...

So i just got my s4 yesterday. I installed safe strap and put on the Hyperdrive rom. I want to try out the google 4.4 rom. So from my understand I just follow the video I saw on another thread to get goo manager and put loki on correct? I use that recovery to wipe and flash the rom? Then I can delete the rom slot i made for hyperdrive on safe strap correct?

There's a decent list of SafeStrap Roms but they're only Touchwiz. I know that's a bummer for some. Gigilie is porting over so many more almost daily too.
Stock 4.4.2 isn't that much different from 4.3 I can tell you that cuz I have a sprint one on that. I hear ya though on just wanting the latest and greatest.

[Q] VRUEMK2 Rooted, cant install recovery?

Is my bootloader locked? I tried installing ClockWork and TWRP Through Rom Manger and GooManager, both say they are successful but when I restart into recovery via an app or manually it goes into ODIN Mode or Stock Recovery? What am I missing here? Any help gratefully appreciated !
Only mdk can install a custom recovery. Not to be rude, but a lil reading would of went a long way. All you can do is root and k stall safestrap

Yes, and it wasn't really make clear what works with MK2, but now after reading more I see I need SS. I Have 3.70 Installed. Now I am having trouble finding any KitKat Roms that work with SafeStrap and MK2? Is there a list somewhere?
