I've run out of tutorials. I am unlocked! Got device recognized, installed last update. Cannot root, nor install new twrp. Have twrp v2.6.3.0. Just to stop recovery from wiping my phone. Tried flashing new zip, img, and root instructions online are like from 2012! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try using Odin 3.09 when installing? That's what I used, was having issues with the earlier versions of Odin and then that version worked perfect.

I recently got a replacement phone and just rooted and S-Off last night. If you do a Google search "how to root EVO 4G LTE" you'll get a few hits mid 2013. I just followed the instructions, then used Rumrunner since I was on 3.17 and latest hboot. Google is your friend and YouTube actually has a few links in the comment section which I found useful as well. Good luck!

You don't use Odin on a HTC device
OP, check out the guide in the link below. There are some helpful links contained in that guide that should get you pointed in the right direction.

I still don't get it. I have twrp 2.6.3.0 and it doesn't work. I need the 1b version. Won't all these tutorials install, or lead me to install an old version?
twrp 2.6.1.0
Okay, so I followed the tutorial, installed the older version, but was stumped at "choose a supersu version.was that while in cmd prompt? So, I rebooted and chose the "install su" from within twrp. Now still no root. I remember now, when I rooted back in '12, it was an all-in-one deal.
Go to the link below and download SuperSU to your phone. Flash in recovery.

so then if it is just disabled it still must have some processes running that is interfering with revolution. Fully exiting must close everything then. As long as it works.
Just so everyone knows when my wouldnt work it was sitting at
acquiring root (method 3)...
so if that is happening to anyone make sure htc sync is fully exited or uninstalled! I never used htc sync i had just installed it for drivers so it was no big deal to me to uninstall!!
I have uninstalled HTC sync and am still stuck at acquiring root (method 3)

I had the smae proble S-oof worked but Recovery clockworkmod failed and in deed win7 x64 unexpectecly shutdown the dos-screen.
I now downloaded the pre3 one and everything worked just re-run it it says it's already s-off but then asks you to download clockwork mod . This time everything wen't fine
Yep... thats confirmed... win64 made errors when downloading the image.
But the pre3 fixed that, and know I got Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4.
Nice... S-OFF and Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4.

Your welcome
I need help with rooting my phone. I have gone to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957155
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043636
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1884#tutorial
I first started out with Samsung Galaxy Note II Kit. But, the update said I needed to do something about unlocking my boot loader, so I went to the Adam Outtler page. But, he says in the first post that this won't work If you do it with an OTA update after January 18, 2012. Well, I didn't notice that first anyways and tried Odin, and all it would do mainly was fail, or setup connection would take forever, and even Casual says:
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
noroot
DEVICE IS NOT ROOTED! ROOT YOUR DEVICE! Install any VRALJB ROM --Adam Outler
What I think I need to do is uninstall the OTA update, but most people I have seen do it through a rooted phone, but I don't have one yet. I have no idea what to do, and I am really confused and don't want to hard brick or screw up my phone. Could anyone help me with this? I am sorry if I am being stupid about this, but the only thing I ever rooted was a NOOK tablet which was simple.
P.S. I am sorry but if anyone respond between the times of 10am-12pm today, and 4pm-12am today, I will not be able to respond due to work arrangements I have for today.
First confirm the baseband: System Settings > About Phone > Baseband. If it shows VRALL4, you have the update and need to use the updated root and unlock method here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118348
Just go slowly and follow the directions (measure twice and cut once), its pretty easy. Good luck.
start at section 1 of my guide...then if youwant to unlock follow adams thread. make sure to use his latest "jailbreak" method(the one linked in my guide).
If you on the latest software from Verizon, just use Adams guide. That's all I did. Need any help let me know!
Or just follow this dude here.

the last thing i would recomend is using anything other than adams or my thread. also the op may just want root, which he can simply place root66 in odin and be done. the latest software adds no benifit other than if you like to internet bench race.

I need some help I used to have my phone rooted then I got an update to 4.3 since this update I have not been able to get root back on my phone. It seems that KNOX is blocking this process. Instead I tried to simply put a ROM on using ADB. I cannot figure out what is going on when I tried to transfer the file it said "Signature Verification Failed" I have reset my phone. I turned on everything necessary in developer options. I have uninstalled all my phone drivers and kies completely then re-installed.
I have watched Tutorial video after tutorial video and I cannot figure it out. If someone can help me I would GREATLY appreciate it.

So I cannot post on that thread, but I did revisit it and reset my phone and went through the instructions carefully.(this time on a different computer) I actually managed to disable knox and get SuperSU back on my phone. It still says the binary needs to be updated and when I click continue, then click normal since I do not have a custom recovery. It attempts to install, but then I get the message- Installation failed Please reboot and try again. So I tried to reboot my phone a few times to see if it would work and no luck. Any ideas?
EDIT: I also tried to install SuperSU update using my sdcard and still no luck. Signature verification problem.

If you are not S=off you need to update the boot.img separately. I believe that is done through fastboot commands. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121331

You can find updated TWRP recoveries here as well : http://mdmower.cmphys.com/category/fireball/
Fastboot command: Fastboot Flash Recovery (File Name Of Recovery .img)
Or
You can get a recovery flasher from the playstore if your computer doesn't like adb like mine. I know mine is most likely driver related, I just don't feel like fixing it right now.
I used this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools and directed it to where i downloaded my recovery.img in my phone, it flashed it and i rebooted and had the latest TWRP.
Enjoy and hope it works for you!

Yes I have it, its the wife phone but I figured out the current cm11 doesn't seem to work with this device.
Odd, I'm on the 5/14 nightly and it's working great. I'll try a more recent nightly and let you know if I have any issues. S-off is pretty easy with the guides out there and then you don't need to worry about flashing the boot.img which seems cause issues for some.
