So ive had a look around and there are no sgs2 threads about the cell standby
Basically, my cell standby sits at "100% time without a signal" no matter what i do.
I have tried changing the network mode to GSM only, WCDMA only and Auto but to no effect. its not taking up a HUGE amount of battery (6%) but its slightly odd...I remember on the hero going into the *#*#4636#*#* menu and adjusting from there used to work but doesnt save on the gs2....also on the hero that figure was down to around 2-3% time without a signal
phone was bought from o2 but is now on t-mobile after being unbrandi-fied / generic firmware-fied and rooti-fied
Thoughts?
Same here.
100% without signal, yesterday was 97%. However, I'm making calls, and receiving calls without problems.
Bought from UK (Handtech) and used in Saudi on Mobily network.
Been 4 days so far, and none of my contacts reported not being able to reach me.
thannks for your response, would be interesting to see what every1 else is experiencing....
I have not had problems with receiving / making calls but it does seem strange that it is so high
Do this, after turning on the phone, put it in flight mode for 15 sec. Should fix it, at least until next reboot
My cell standby is at 3%

Hi Everyone,
I am disappointed with the battery of Optimus One.
My Battery in Standby (GPS/Wi-fi/3g/Sync/Screen, ALL OFF and without USE ), does not last even 20 hours.
I have an application that shows what application is consuming more battery power and the "phone in standby mode" takes up 95%!
What are your experiences with this battery?
Mine has problems?
Thx
I bought it one week ago and the battery last one day with no problem (and it's not at its full "potential" since is new). When did you buy the phone?
I bought it 2 weeks ago
Using a custom rom you won't be disappointed with your battery no more...
I have openOptimus Rom with Franco kernel 15. I am at 85% battery after 14 hours. The phone has been pretty much idle.
Only 2G networks
Data disabled
Wi-fi on
Auto-sync on
Overclocked 480/729 interactive (interactive may not be optimal)
I'm using franco kernel v15.1 with devoid.franco, i'll try do update do devoid.froyo.final today.

Hi, what is data disabled? and how to put only 2g networks?
20 hours on idling? Send it back for repair/replace. Mine will last days if left idling (about 1% every two hours)
When I travel I turn all data connections off (Bluetooth, wifi, gps, data) and it lasts about 3days

Here are some potential things to turn off that might make the battery last longer. They are all in the settings app. I do not do all these since I find that some things might make the battery last longer but reduce the usefulness of the phone.
Setting/Display/Brightness
Setting/wireless & networks/wi-fi off
Setting/wireless & networks/bluetooth off*
Setting/wireless & networks/mobile networks/use only 2G networks*
Setting/wireless & networks/mobile networks/data enabled off* (I have this turned off all the time as I do not have a data plan.)
The items * I have off unless I am actively using them. I also overclock my Optimus. I think that this probably gives me a longer battery life, since it is running at 480 when I am not using it. I suppose if I was desperate, I would undercloack the phone (min 480 and max 480).
What version of Android are you running? 2.2 or 2.2.1/2.2.2?
When you click on Cell Standby, how much Time Without Signal does it show?
follow these steps and i think ull have what you want..
go to battery use and click on cell standby : then see time without signal. how much does it show ? if its above even one percent (unless uve mannually put ur device in airplane mode) i know the problem.
go to settings >wireless & network settings > mobile network > mark 2G only (if u are not using 3G) cause the cell might spen loads of battery searching for 3G.. then go to network operators and search for (mannually) and select ur own network provider.. like mine is airtel.. then let your battery run down totally.. completly to zero. then recharge your phone to full without any break.. this is called recaliberation. then see how much your battery lasts..
remember to turn off bletooth, wifi, internet, all ! while the phone is idle and you wont be using it for sometime. or, if you wont be doing or getting any calls or sms, consider switching to airplane mode..
you might be getting less battery if ur in a area with weak signal strength.. this makes the phone go wilder to search for signal. in these conditions, switch to airplane mode if you can . thatll save a lot of battery. and also during night if you want to.
dont hesitate to click the thanx if i helped !
EDIT: and ya every thing that the person after me 'Y.u.v.i' said.. though those are normal things and brightness level is most important..
and about francos kernel, ive had many f/c s with mik's cm7 beta 6.2.5 ..i prefer its own kernel , though dunno for other roms.. u might wanna try it.. ill try myself too..
yes ..few step here u can try
1.reduce ur brightness level to minimum ...
2. use 2g signal only.
3. turn off all extra connection like wi-fi , Bluetooth, auto sync , data.
4. use advance task killer and set it to auto kill app aftr every 30 mints.
5.automatic screen time to 30 sec.
6.if u r using custom ROM use Franco 15.1 kernal . and wipe battery after charging it up-to 100%
use thanks if u like my post ...
I did all the tips posted here. Let us now see what happens

I'm using 2.2
7% without signal.
Sorry for the dumb question (about 2.2 or 2.2.x) - I didn't read the first page carefully enough.
Try this: reboot, then enable airplane mode, lock your screen and leave it like that for about a minute, unlock screen, disable airplane mode.
Are you still seeing Time Without Signal? (of course, after a few hours, not straight away)
EDIT:
DON'T do any of the following:
- reduce brightness to 1%... come on, be serious! you really like squinting at the screen? screen brightness doesn't affect battery life that much anyway...
- don't use task killers! it doesn't matter if you have little RAM - it's there to be used. I will not go into details about this (there's whole threads about it), but trust me!
You could also try monitoring your apps with https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zomut.watchdoglite&feature=search_result and see if any of them start behaving wildly and keep your CPU awake.
Another thing would be to try Nessy Hypnos2... I had great battery life when using that ROM! If you're still experiencing the same battery drain with a fresh install of Hypnos, then I'm sorry to tell you but you'll probably have to send your phone for repairs.
I ended up recharging the phone two hours ago and it is at 91%.
Was 9% in 2 Hours - 4,5% per Hour. Very Bad...
...with nothing in use.
Only 2g networks
wi-fi/dates/sync/bluetooth ( ALL OFF )
Screen OFF (black, with -0% of brigth, because he is OFF)
I install Battery Monitor Widget that estimates my uses of battery in:
18h52m of Discharge (100->0%)
and 5h of charg in USB and 3h of charge inc AC.
I'm installing watchdog now, to see if have an App draining battery.
EDIT:
But I do not think that's because I have an application that shows the the CPU clock in%.
480MHz = 80%
729Mh = 20% or less
and another that shows the applications that consume battery
and Cell Standby = 90%

I got the same. My phone is also on the same settings, same rom, same kernel. Battery life was awesome some days ago, but now I experience average battery drain, I think I need to callibrate my phone as well. :/ I will do it probably after flashing void.final.
I don't know if anyone has tried this yet, but after I have tested it for almost a full work day I can say it's definitely worth using..
Try this: After you completely charge your phone, turn on Power Saver (make sure all options are checked in settings)
Leave it on, don't turn it off, for the entire day.
I had absolutely no slow down.. no problem receiving timely texts/notifications.. the only thing that is a minor annoyance is that screen brightness stays low no matter what, so if you view your screen in full sunlight a lot this will not be for you.. otherwise, HOLY CRAP this makes your phone literally sip power all day.
9 hrs 21 mins 44 secs since I unplugged my phone this morning and I have 63% battery left!
That's roughly 3.96% battery drain per hour!!
This means I will get something like 24-25 hours before I hit zero.. this is with using the phone like normal, where I would normally need to charge after about 16 hours.
Insane. Best battery life I've ever had on a stock phone, and yes I know those monstrosities like the Note 2 can go longer (huge battery..) or if you want to tweak your phone with custom kernels, etc.
But daaaamn I have to say I am impressed.
Leaving Power Saver on from now on!
Btw I should add this is without Wi-Fi, in a LTE area that bounces from LTE to HSPA a lot.. WiFi left on but never connecting to a router
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Also, I do have sleep mode on in settings
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Update. Battery running down a little faster while on my home Wi-Fi watching videos and surfing the net. Don't think I'll make it 24 hours but I am using the phone pretty heavy. I've also noticed that the auto brightness seems to be working overtime whereas it never budged during the day. Tomorrow I'll set my brightness manually to stay at ~30% and turn off the screen option in power saver. See if that yields even better results. So far it appears auto brightness is a power consumer on this phone. We'll see if I'm right tomorrow. I'm at 23% at 14hrs 21mins
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I should add that normally I would have charged the phone by now for about two hours since I do most of my heavy usage at night, and when I get home from work I'm already at 20%. But when I've let it run down almost all the way it's been an average of about 15-16 hours
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
OK so today I kept Power Saver on, but unchecked the "screen" option so that I the screen would adjust as normal to the ambient light conditions. I am finding that the power consumption is essentially the same, very minor change. I now believe that it is Wi-Fi that was causing a quicker drain than LTE/HSPA does, simply because Power Saver does not include an option to cut the Wi-Fi connection when the screen is off.
I will change my Wi-Fi settings to sleep when screen is off and see if that keeps the battery draining at the same slow pace when I am at home connected to my router. I'll try that tonight. If that works successfully, I should get an easy 20 hours + from one charge with normal use (including my evening usage which is heavier usage).
Last night I hit 18 hours and 22 minutes before plugging in at 12% remaining battery without changing the Wi-Fi sleep setting. Hopefully this will be the last test necessary to find the best set up for longer battery life.
Feel free to chime in if anyone else is testing this!
I haven't test the difference between Power Saving and normal. I put Power Saving On in the morning right after a full charge.
I have medium usage for about 20 minutes in the morning using wifi. (It would drop to about 94%). I then turn off wifi and mobile and by 1pm, I have about 82%-88%. I would have about 20 minute usage on mobile data during lunch (flux between 3g, H and rarely LTE). By the time I leave work, it's around 74%. This is when I turn off power saving since I'm usually heading home. Another 20 minutes of medium to heavy usage over H/LTE when on the subway. By the time I get home, it's around 70%. After this, it takes at least about an hour of heavy activity to drain it down to 50% off power saving.
I have the 64 GB Developer Edition and running ARHD 12.1 with the latest T-Mobile Radio.
I've always left power saver on at all times and don't notice any slowdown. One exception is that I don't enable power saver on the screen as it's damn near impossible to see the screen outside. I get pretty damn good battery life on stock rom. Over 3 hrs screen on time in 24 hr period of half mobile data and half wifi.
For enabling and disabling wifi automatically, I use the app wifi matic and it's worked well.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I can easily say the dim screen option is completely unnecessary. Everything is working perfectly, there's no slowdown whatsoever. Even set keep Wi-Fi awake to never. Phone flies, and honestly the data connectivity is ten times better with power saver on. Without it, I would see my phone jump to 2G in a moment of bad coverage and then take FOREVER to reconnect to LTE or HSPA. Now when I unlock my phone it's instantly connected, as if a radio refresh is instant on power saver but laggy as hell without it. I'm very pleased.

Just thinking out loud here...
I don't see how with the data connection off you could have "no problem receiving timely...notifications." What "notifications" are you talking about not missing? Are you saying you actually got cloud-service-based notifications while the phone was sleeping?
Texts/SMS of course would still come in because they don't travel over the data connection, they travel over the voice network.
Email, twitter, etc., they shouldn't get their notifications since that stuff travels over the data connection.
Google Voice users (like me), would miss out on their text messages since those travel over the data connection.
I'll need to test this some. Maybe with the data connection turned off via this setting, the phone actually periodically fires it up to check for notifications, or responds to apps requesting a quick data connection to pull notifications.
UPDATE: Hmmm...turned on power saver, turned on the data disconnect option, put phone to sleep by pressing power button. Waited a minute. Sent myself a google voice # text message and the phone buzzed immediately. Very curious.

I was confused about that same thing. I think it only turns off your data if you havent touched your phone in a while.
If I turn it off, put it down, and pick it up 5 mins later, the data is still connected.
If I turn it off and its in my pocket for an hour, I take it out, the data service is usually trying to reconnect.
I have to admit the way HTC implemented their power saver is impressive. It literally does not delay a single notification. Facebook, Gmail, Hangouts, Scramble with Friends, anything that is set up to notify me works without a hitch. Everything is instant.. compare this to "power saver" mode on the Galaxy line which pretty much cripples the phone.
There is NO reason whatsoever to not have Power Saver turned on with the HTC One. Best implementation ever.
I've had no delays even after not touching the phone for a solid hour. Still get them.

Okay, a little google search reveals the secret behind the data connection magic:
If you want to choose which phone features to conserve power for, tap the Power saver notification first before you turn power saver mode on.
Note: If Data connection is selected, HTC One X automatically disconnects from the mobile network after 15 minutes when it's in sleep mode and the data connection is idle (no download activity, streaming, or data usage). It reconnects and then disconnects periodically when the data connection is idle to save battery power.
This is from the HTC One X support site, but the same quote is on many of the devices, but oddly not our HTC One. I think it's safe to assume it's the same for our device, whether published or not.

My phone's been untouched for an hour or so, and I just sent it a Google Voice text message. Buzzed instantly, and in light of my above research, it looks like you're correct. I'm certainly going to run with this setting on for a day or two at least for further testing. I only have CPU and data enabled in the settings. My testing the next few days may not be the best, as I'll likely be on wi-fi most of the time, although I could turn wi-fi setting to disconnect wi-fi when sleeping.
I've been using that Qualcomm Snapdragon battery guru app, and Greenify on my phone, so it gets damned good battery all things considered anyways, and I also am not afraid to go on charger during the day, but every little bit helps.
Just a few comments on the power saver:
I've noticed that power saver doesn't disconnect the background data immediately... it does it after a longer interval of non-usage.
Otherwise, it's great. I'm not sure if it's the screen dimming or the underclocking, but it really makes a definite difference in the battery life. I also turn it on for a lot of games (cough, dead space) and it helps keep the phone cooler while gaming.

FYI, it underclocks the CPU so the max is about 1.2ghz; When using Faux Control App, I toggled the Power Saver from the notification and can see it go down to about 1.2 ghz when "On" and when switched off my CPU clock maxes out back to 2ghz.

I can also concur to this fact; since day one of owning this phone I've had power saver on permanently set and I've never experienced performance issues like in other phones, its been smooth, and helpful. The amount of usage I submit my phone to in one day its enough to make any other phone live permanently connected to the charger, and I get at least 1.5 days of juice.
I agree, HTC did a good job with their power saver mode.

6 hrs 23 mins 3 secs since i unplugged it and still have 82% without using PowerSafer. switching between very low LTE and very good hspa all the time and i'm using it quiet often checking facebook, twitter, mails, whatsapp and news.
The only Powersaving App I installed is "Wifi-Matic" wich turns on Wifi only if i'm connected to a specific radio station. Check in to your wlan one time and it will safe the radio stations around. if you aren't connect to this stations it will disable Wifi by itself. Works great for me! (Checking radiostations every 15 mins).
This means for me loosing 2,889% every hour without dimming the screen or something else
Give it a try and compare

How about you try that, with power saver on as well, and report back?
Besides, if you're barely using your phone at all, then yes it will be saving power with sleep mode alone. All I know is I have several friends who move in and out of bad reception/data areas, and now their battery is lasting a whole heck of a lot longer using power saver. It sounds like what you're using is somewhat of a power saver as well.. but you are in a good coverage area too so it's hard to say.
Btw, my figures were with Wifi always on - never switched off, ever.. and I still had greatly extended battery life.
After flashed Android 6.0 I noticed worse battery life than with 5.1.1
Looking for a culprit I noticed in the battery status chart that wifi is always on. It is a solid line with no interruptions anywhere.
This did not happen before. Thinking about a bad app, I factory reset the tablet and did not install any third-party app.
Even in this pristine conditions wifi is always on.
Do you have the same problem?
Thanks!
I definitely do not have the problem. In fact I have the opposite problem. I used to have twitter setup on my tablet (just for news sites like AP, etc.) and then used pushbullet to notify me on my PC/other devices. Since I flashed 6.0 once it goes into doze I stop getting those notifications until I turn it on again.
Last night I put the tablet down around 1am at 86% and this morning at 7:30am it was at 84%
Thanks. If you click on the chart on the battery section of the settings, what do you see? I see a solid uninterrupted line for WiFi, and interrupted lines for Awake and Screen On.

I read over on the Nexus 5 forum that there was a wifi always on scanning bug going around that people with curing by disabling WiFi scanning under location services. I'm happy to say, after flashing fresh factory images, my 9 and 5 are working flawlessly. Like someone posted above, both of my devices left all night and half the next day only knocked a few percent off the battery. I usually charge my Nexus 5 halfway through the day, but yesterday I did not and had 40% when I put it on charge going to bed. My wife took the OTA as opposed to flashing fresh on her Nexus 5, but she has had no issues either.
I'm loving this update on both of my devices so far. The animations are so much smoother.

Actually after the first day or so it got much better. They are still delayed but if thats the tradeoff for the insane standby time I'm ok with it.
Here are my N9's current battery stats:
Tablet Idle Time (i.e. time off charger): 2d 4h 40m
Screen on time: 1h 17m
Battery Percentage: 74%!!!
I use my tablet to cast shows and did some light browsing/PDF reading (trying to figure out how to get my son to sleep ) so thats why the low SOT. Normally probably without even touching the tablet I'd already be sub 50%
I believe the WiFi always on showing under battery life is a bug. My n6 is the same way. Recently went on a trip with no access to WiFi. Turned WiFi off but yet it still shows it's always on under battery. I don't notice any additional battery usage so I assume it is just a bug and hopefully will be fixed in the next update. I believe the bug was also present in the developer previews
As you can see on the attached photo, my phone drains a lot more battery between 23:00 and 9:00 - over 5% per hour, before Nougat it drained 5% all night
I thought it was because I set "do not disturb"for that period, but it does the same without, I did a factory reset, problem stays
I took OFF most permissions, I dont have any new apps or settings that I know
Same thing was happening to me as well. Tried factory reset several times. The thing that worked for me (at least for now) is reflashing stock rom once again via LG Bridge. Just try update error recovery.
Edit: I have an international H960a variant.

Did it, lets see how it goes tonight, thanks :good:
Mine sometimes eats 0% whole night, but sometimes it eats 20% in 3 hours at night. I have no idea what is going on
It is ridiculous, between 14:00 and 23:00 (-9h on the screenshot) it used 22% battery, and I was using the phone moderately, calls, chrome, whatsapp, SMS, etc...
From 23:00 to 08:00 it used 48%, just sitting on the bedside table second screen OFF
I didnt have Do Not Disturb, just second screen OFF
I dont know why the image doesnt show, posted again with a link instead also dont know why I cannot delete this post

Tonite just on the bedside table face down, nothing set, nor "do not disturb", nor second screen off, 55% 9 hours
BATTERY USE DETAILS only shows apps using 15%, what used the other 85%
Bad batterY?
Bad battery would drain a lot during the day too
Try this, goto settings>apps> click the 3 dot menu in the top right hand corner, reset app preferences. It helped mine, not a whole lot but it helped. Some apps will ask permission again when opened. Android System is my main battery drain.
I had an hunch, left the phone in the living room, face up, second screen on all night, it drained only 1% per hour
In the bedroom with face down, second screen off, it used 6% per hour
Wifi is the same, I use an internet radio as alarm, and it works fine, so it must be something related to signal strength, any ideas
A bad cell signal for example can add significantly to battery consumption. I.e., frequently dropping or low signal will make the phone search for other cells again and again.
Also, did you try disabling the 2nd screen via battery saving? Because if the phone lies face done, a sensor will disable it. Maybe that sensor can also add to battery drain.

Tonite I will test with "Do not disturb" and second screen OFF from 23:00 to 9:00. Then tomorrow wifi OFF in the bedroom
Please keep us posted. I'm invested in this matter myself a great deal
My battery drain is rather constant though. Very strange that it's so inconsistent with your device.
Thanks for testing

I work in IT, time to put my experience to service
With "Do not disturb" and second screen OFF from 23:00 to 9:00 it used less than 1% per hour, as it should :good:
Tonite I will test WIFI OFF in the bedroom
Thanks for letting us know! The more I read about this, the more confused I get -_-
What you could also try is setting up some apps that can track down wakelocks, e.g. Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector. Might be that there is some services running that sometimes keep your phone from sleeping.
If it works properly you seem to get pretty decent ratings with your device though!

I dont believe the problem is with WIFI, but I have to test everything, to be sure what is the problem, at the moment I pend to something to do with network access, we will know soon
Well, tonite, in the bedroom, 5% per hour again, it is not WIFI, "Do not disturb" nor second screen for sure
The bedroom is next to the living-room, both have windows facing south, only a thin interior wall separating them, so it doesnt make sense that the network signal would be different enough to use that much battery
On the other hand, I noticed yesterday that location was ON, I always have it OFF, so I reset to OFF for last night. This morning set it ON again, and it started using less battery, so tonite I will test with location ON :fingers-crossed:
Dude i had battery saving on all the time and it eat few % at night. Now i turned power saving off and it eat 0% battery in sleep lol
