I have a C6806 was on .290 firmware bootloader locked just wanted to root the easy way and someone told me about kingoroot
Kingo root tried every possible script to root but failed( later came to know 4.3 is not supported) any ways now after all the reboots done by kingoroot I was left only with data working rest all radio functions are dead like calls and texts no more work but the network signal is still full. Does it possibly mean the radio is dead.
Tried another ftf nothing changes.
tried reset same result
can someone help me...

My aunt has recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note and it has been unlocked. I've checked it and it is not rooted. She is on T-Mobile. The phone has been flashed to support T-Mobile's 4G HSPA+ network. I would like to update her phone to ICS via Samsung Kies but I'm afraid that her unlock will go away. Can anyone help?
I wouldn't imagine if you just wipe dalvik cache, wipe user settings/factory reset and install an ICS ROM that it would lose the unlock. I think its stored in a different location that stays put during the flash. However, if it does lose the unlock you can always find an unlocker program/tutorial, or possibly flash a already unlocked ICS ROM...

flashing a custom rom will not touch the lock if it is unlocked that's it I would however recommend using heimdall or Odin to flash

I'm confused now! When I checked to see if the phone had SuperUser permissions in a terminal it basically said no. Then again I didn't think of installing the SU apk from somewhere. I'm not sure it's rooted or not m; I think it is because in order to flash the TMobile modems for 4G the device needed to be rooted. I'm thinking of just flashing and ICS ROM with it already unlocked for TMobile but I'm not entirely sure how to do that m.
i've been working on this Galaxy Note for about a week now. it is an AT&T i717 and it is unlocked. It worked before when my sister used it with t-mobile but now whenever I put my sim in it says "NO SIM/Emergency Calls Only". I've tried everything I know of: restoring it back to Stock 2.3.6 with Odin, restoring it to 4.0.3 with Odin, factory resets, wiping cache, wiping dalvik cache, formatting all of the data, flashing different modems, flashing at&t stock kernel, flashing at&t stock radio. out of all of this none of it has worked. I would think there was something wrong with the sim tray/contact but it worked fine a little over week ago. there is no problem with the imei or baseband, both show up regularly. I'm pretty much out of ideas so any new ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
its a known issue for very few here.. just do a search.. you will find the thread(s).

I've done a lot of digging around here and I haven't found anything that's worked.
Also, my sim works completely fine in my GS2 so there's nothing wrong with the sim.

which radio did you flash? I've tried the Blaze radio and of course the stock at&t but I'll try the other ones. And which ROM would you recommend?
and thank you so much, I've been working on this phone for a while and it's been kinda stressful lol.
OP, I had the same issue, once I flashed any radio, my sim would not be recognized. I tried everything and it seems the only thing that worked was to flash original GB AT&T stock rom using odin and basically unrooting it. as factory as it could get. Then from there, root it. then upgrade to any rom. Make sure everything works before before flashing another radio. before you do so, do a nandroid to save you hassle.

Stock rom version 80120E is the latest one. Everybody should get it if possible. In addition to the above updates the lockscreen displays full screen album art from Google play music app. I've experienced far less frequent playback errors also.

I've seen this, but my question about it is, does it mess up root/custom recovery?
I second this. Just received the update today but I'm hesitant to install it. I still have stock recovery but I am rooted. Don't want to mess anything up. So if anyone who's rooted installed the update without problems let me know!

I'm rooted but I have custom recovery on mine (TWRP) and it was Hell... HELL! It took me 7 hours throughout the whole night to recover it, it was going back to TWRP every single time. But searching here in this fine website paid off! I'm not going to touch any OTA until I know more on how to prevent that again.
I had a similar experience when I upgraded to KitKat. Lost so much including pictures and videos that couldn't be replaced or recovered. Took hours just to get my phone working again. Never want to go through that again!

I was rooted and had TWRP. I upgraded using the LG service tool and had no issues. I lost root and recovery but was able to re-root using towelroot.
I was rooted and installed the uodate. I lost root and so far no chance of direct rooting. Good thing is that now we can choose runtime option, either dalvik or art.

Cool Confirmed, it worked for me as well, through the LG Support tool. Never taking it OTA ever again. :silly: And yes, I lost root as well and I've used towelroot before. I'm not sure if I'll install a custom recovery any time soon. Nearly bricked my LG G2 enough times already. :silly:

right now my friend is using her verizon note 2 on Tmobile, just popping the sim and changing the APN makes it work great on Edge and 4G but it is stuck on the stock verizon rom and the backup program that verizon put on there keeps eating the battery even thought the app is off (went into settings and turned sync off),
she is on the most up to date software and can't root with out safestrap, but i am just wondering if there is a way to flash the stock Tmobile rom (just the rom no modems or anything) thru Odin? we just want all the verizon stuff gone to make it more of a tmobile phone.

Well there is no way to flash a T mobile firmware throught ODIN.. Unless you want a paper weight. Flashing another bootloader from another device is a very good way to make the phone not usable.
You can port a Custom T mobile rom but why go through all that to just get rid of some system apps. Just go into your system/app and priv-apps and delete the Verizon apps.
ba-syncservice-app-signed.apk is the app your looking for to disable sync function..
But I thought I had to have root to edit the system folder?

You do.. Sorry might have misread.. If you are not rooted than you can not change this.. Only way to turn sync off would be to go into stock recovery and do a factory reset.. When you load back up make sure that you UNCLICK "sync" Contacts..

What does this mean????
If she is on 4.3 than she is able to root her phone.. You saying safestrap and the latest software throws me for a loop.. The latest software is ND7 4.4.2 and there is no way to root this.. therefore no safestrap either..
Just making sure you know that root and a unlocked bootloader is to different things.. Safestrap requires root but not a unlocked bootloader..
Ok

Well, I am really considering purchasing a new Sony Xperia Z Ultra and selling off my GPe model of the Z Ultra since it cannot be rooted and who knows when it will be (running lollipop and not able to backup TA at this time). Just wondering if the Xperia model running jellybean or kitkat will be better for rooting purposes? The only reason I need to root it is that I am desperate for a sound/volume mod as I've had to switch back to my old Note 2, calls are so hard with the low volume on the GPe model. Any recommendations between the jellybean or kitkat models or doesn't make much difference? I really love this phone and do not want to give up on it, and rooting seems to be the only answer for a volume mod. Thank you!

Thanks, I have been reading up but was getting a little confused with all the bootloader versions being referenced. Or are they firmwares? I'm just used to Samsung devices and trying to learn about Sony. Anyway, looks like a Z Ultra running KitKat will be best for rooting and will also work with scrobbers ROM if I decide going that route too. Right now I just want root.
But now I just read that the Z4 just passed through certification in Japan. Just when I thought there would not be a successor. Maybe I'll wait and see.

On the GPe, if you aren't concerned with DRM keys, warranty and camera you can just unlock the bootloader and root that way (camera may still work if unlocked on L)
There's a massive tutorial on rooting the xperia z ultra 4.4.4 (kitkat) as for Jelly bean I've owned 3 ultras and after today 4 lmao. Anyways 4.3 (jelly bean) you should be able to run towel root by Geohot.
Just get a Sony Xperia z ultra C6806 or c6833 and root it, unlock the bootloader and you can run a rom port of the GPE
I'm still on kitkat, and plan to stay for another year til M comes out. As for the z4 ultra it's just a rumor they said the same thing when the z2 came out. If it does come out I'm OK with the same screen size I just want more ram, and a faster processor even though my ultra still has no stutters

Thanks, when I check my bootloader unlockable status it says unknown instead of either yes or no. Should I just give it a try anyway?
By the way, I'm reading through your guide and unlocking the bootloader via the Sony site and using fastboot should work for me right even if I'm on lollipop? I think I understand the process now and I don't care about the warranty or camera.

Yes, unlocking the BL will work just fine on LP. Then just hotboot DooMLoRD's kernel to get recovery, and from there flash the superSU update zip for LP to get root.
Hotbooting a kernel: either use flashtool or "fastboot boot <path_to_doomlords_boot.img>"
It will be interesting to see if the camera focuses if the BL is unlocked from LP
OK, I'm going to give a go. Took me so long to download the flashtool but i think I'm ready to go. Will post results soon, hopefully.

The GPe should be unlockable.
start a command prompt in the adb folder under flashtool and try this:
put phone into fastboot
"fastboot oem unlock 0x<key_from_sony>"
I was finally able to unlock the boot loader using flashtool and then flashed doomlord kernel for GPe but I can't boot into recovery. On the screen the android is on its back with the red triangle and it says no coomand. It keeps looping like this and the doom lord booting image. I've tried reflashing the kernel and same results.

The doomlord kernel wont boot LP, to get a bootable phone flash the boot.img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe.../lollipop-5-0-boot-fotakernel-images-t2960269
The system.img from the same thread may be the easist way to gain root. Either use that or HOTBOOT doomlords kernel
Hotbooting doesn't flash the kernel to the device, just boots it for the next boot so you should be able to use recovery

Makes sense now that I think about it. Just frustrated in that I haven't been able to successfully download and install adb all day. My internet must be bogged down because it times out. I was able to install minimal adb but wouldn't recognize my device and then kept getting a server out of date error. So I'm trying to do everything via fashtool. Now I can't seem to download DoomLords lollipop kernals to flash with flashtool. Talk about bad luck overall all day! What's the easiest way to get the boot image in a flash able format? Is adb the only way? Am i missing something? I might have to wait until tomorrow if that's the case.

I gave it another go this morning but adb won't recognize my device. I've tried downloading the boot.img multiple times but still fails. Maybe I'm downloading wrong? If I click on it, I directs me to a webpage with all the coding, so I've been using 'saving target as' to save it onto my PC. Is there another way?
